Is transport possible w/o implementing Solman Charm

Is transport in satellite system can be managed by solman w/o implementing Solman Charm? If so then how..it can be activated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you refering to TMS, started with transaction STMS?
That is actually Basis.
However what you might be looking for is CTS+ (Change and Transport System) that can be intergrated with ChaRM, but doesn't need to be.

SolMan ChaRM - System landscape not ready yet

Hi all,
We are configuring ChaRM for an implementation use, therefore all the systems are not set up yet.
Is it possible in SolMan to define logical component without "real" systems ?
We saw that in STMS it was possible to create virtual systems, but how do we link these virtual systems to SolMan ChaRM ?
Is it possible to define a virtual system landscape and to build and configure ChaRM scenario with this ?

Yes, it is possible to define a development system and virtual systems (Q- and P-System).
Via transaction SMSY you can describe the planned Q- and P-System at first as 'virtual'.
Create transport routes with transport buffers as you would do for existing systems.
Define the buffers as they should be named in future.
For experimental purposes we connected our IDES-System to our development SolMan system.
In this environment we could map such a ChaRM-configuration.
In the meantime we practiced it in our production SolMan system, too.

We are planning on using SolMan / ChaRm for our upgrade from 4.6C to ECC6 and I am wondering if it would be possible to do the following
Upgrade a development system to ECC6.
Define 2 virtual ECC6 Systems, 1 for the QA system and 1 for the production system
Create a project that contains all the business processes and has the above landscape assigned. This project does not have ChaRM active.
Create a maintenance cycle with the above landscape attached and ChaRM active.
As we upgrade the real QA and production systems to ECC6, we want to u201Cflip outu201D the virtual systems for the u201Crealu201D ECC6 systems.
Does anyone have any input in this type of plan?

Functional Consultant Implementation Cook Book to Implement SolMan

Can anybody tell me where I can find the SolMan consultant implementation cook book. I am basically looking from a functional consultant perpective, the configuration setup that need to be done to implement SolMan, we are implementing CHaRM and Monitoring.
Also I like to ask, what sequence I need to follow to implement the SolMan. Please provide the steps and the documents that I should refer to.

Monitoring requires Basis knowledge and Charm is a CRM scenario
what sequence I need to follow to implement the SolMan.
I would start with Monitoring, Service desk , Charm , Root Cause Analysis (Basis scenario). These are the opertional side of Solman.
Functional side
Implementation of SAP Solutions includes Project Administration, Business Process mapping and Blueprinting etc

Timeout parameter in SolMan-ChaRM

Hi,
I need to know the parameter which decides the timeout for tcode SM_CRM in SolMan 7.1
the ABAP gui closes after about 5 mins of inactivity whereas the web browser of tcode SM_CRM remains open for long time(about 1 hour)
What are the parameters which decide these timeouts for both ABAP gui as well as web browser in SolMan Charm System.
The reason behind the need to know this is the java threads in our systems are all getting consumed resulting in JAVA stack getting crashed.
We suspect the SM_CRM is the culprit as it remains open for long time and this tcode is being used widely in our project.

Assuming you are talking about the timeout value for the web interface, it is in the {installdir}/ocas/conf/ocwc.conf file. The parameter you want to change is ssn_timeout. I believe you will need to restart ocas to make it effective.

SolMan Charm: wbch and customizing TR not always automatically released

Dear solman experts,
In Charm, when users save a status linked to the background action "release_all" in order to release their transport requests, the transports are not always released.
I know this could happen with ToC and also with TR (mostly for workbench), but this is happening to lots of customizing transports.
I tested it with some small configuration (like for instance a TR with roles in it), the release works fine.
So the configuration of solman seems ok.
Does anyone have already faced the same issue and has an idea on what to do in order to avoid this issue?

Hello Khalil,
In the maintenance cycle, the ongoing phase is "development with release" so it is ok.
Also, all tasks have already been released as one of the previous status/action triggered the creation of a ToC (and for that the check of all released tasks is performed). So we have like two testing cycle (a first one with ToC where all tasks are already released) and if it is ok you can then set a status which triggers the "release_all" action to release the orginial transport requests.
What is really strange is that in the tasklist, the release request activity is correctly launched but has an error " /TMWFLOW/TRANSPORT_N643" which says that :
- Diagnosis --> The request BRDK922172 has already been released (but it is not the case)
- System Response --> The system does not allow you to create a transport of copies. (but it is not the action concerned here "the activity on which I receive this error is "release_all""
- Procedure--> It is not usually necessary to create a transport of copies for a request that has already been released.Perhaps you entered an incorrect request, in which case you have to enter a different one.
I do not get what is this error message about. And what is really strange is that for some transport requests the release works and for other not (but more and more are not working)
Have you an idea?

Now my requirement is to read this JMS message as multiple internal message(s) from queue using OSB JMS transport.
Is this possible from OSB JMS transport?

No.. JMS transport wont automatically do it for you .. You will have to write a jms proxy service and have your logic to do the debatching.. alternatively you can use jms proxy as a pass thru service writing to the file system and then have the JCA file adapter to do the debatching..

Documentation for SolMan / ChaRM Security Rolls / Authorizations

Good Day;
I am currently setting up all the roles / authorizations for the different areas within Solution Manager / ChaRM.
I have been looking for a u201Cdetailedu201D document on all the security authorizations for Solution Manager / ChaRM. So far the only document I am able to find is the Security Guide for SAP Solution Manager 4.0 as of SP 15.
If there are more detailed documents, would someone point me in the right direction.

How to register transport requests which is created outside CHaRM

Thanks for your reply, as per SAP Note 1150426 I have executed the task in the maintenance cycle "Register transport request in tasklist", but the transport request is not added to the Change request.
Then I have tried to execute through sa38 there it's saying "Unable to find the task list / status of task list is not active". we are in ST - SAPKITL434
Could you please check and help me to resolve the issue

Cancal of Transport possible?

at first I just want to thank you for all the great postings on sdn.sap.com. I read a lot of them. Now I have a problem and I am not able to find an answer in any of the postings.
My problems refers to the transport system in sap. Can I cancel a transport from an external System? We have a Systemcopy for testing update-possibility (U-Sys). There we developed some roles. While developing these roles were changed on the other System (D-Sys). Afterwards they were transported from the U-Sys to the D-Sys.
The changes in D got lost, because they were never transported to T neither P. Is there a possibility to cancel this transport on D?
I hope you can help me.

Hi Benedikt and welcome to the SDN!
unfortunately there is no possibility to 'rollback' a successful imported transport. For dictionary objects (e.g. abaps) there is a possibility to get a previous version back from the version management but I believe this isn't possible for roles. A possibility might be to check the change documents and redo the changes. If available you might also restore a backup.

Need case to implement Solman

In our company SAP is already implemented.
There are some projects running on the instance like -
a) setting up new plants and their relevent changes to the respective funtional area ( OM , Procurement etc).
b) retiring an legacy application and implementing theri functionality into SAP.
For such projects we want to use Solman for document repository, org structures etc.
The documents consists of BRDs, ADD, Technical design docs etc.
For the above case what is the best approach of using Solman?
Also let me know if you already implemented case studies for the above scenario.

I don't know if this answers your question but if you want to document existing business process repository with information on the business processes you use in production , you can use a service like RBE + from IBIS.
SAP also has Solution Documentation Assistant which is supposed to do something like that but I'm not familiar with it.
Once your BPR is setup, all you have to do is put your documents in the appropriate place in SOLAR01.
In my case , I wonder where we should put general documentation like System wide technical architecture documents which is not specific to a business process. Perhaps someone has a suggestion ?

We have a custom transport agent that our clients use with exchange 2010, however a number of potential clients are now using exchange online. I've read that this doesn't support transport agents, so I was wondering whether it would ever have support
for them?
If not, is there an alternative way of capturing and working with emails from all platforms (desktop/mobile/web) before they are sent from the exchange? Our solution also uses a SQL database to temporarily store some of these emails, as well as an
admin account to auto-correspond with the sender, so we would need some way of implementing something similar to this as well.

For exchange cutover migration, you need a public SSL certificate and a internet routeable domain. After getting up public SSL, did you assign any service to the certificate? Make sure that your autodiscover is working fine as O365 tries to connect your
Exchange using autodiscover. You can test your outlook anywhere and autodiscover settings from testconnectivity.microsoft.com and yes Microsoft don't have any issue with .local entry in 3rd party certificate. Hope this answers your question. Thanks.
