Is Trend Mirco Smart Surf a good purchase for Macs?

I had this program back when I used a PC, so I was going to cancel it but they offered this other software.  I've never heard of macs needing stuff like virus protection so I was wondering if it was a useful purchase or not.  Any advice is welcomed.

No virus protection is needed for your mac if you have the latest updates installed in your OS.
MAC OS has built in protection....
You can however, download ClamX AV and scan your computer once in a while if you want to be sure and give you peace of mind....
good luck...

Try booting up in Safe mode (holding down the Shift key while booting). If the software came with an unistaller, use it to remove alll traces of the software - it's nothing that you need and, as you've experienced, can do more actual hard than good (as is the case with most software of this type). When you're booted in Safe Mode, if you can't run an uninstaller, at least check to make sure that there are no Trend Micro items that are set for automatic log in, at least.

• Mac OSX Maverics (Ver 10.9.4) Reboots after installing and removing Trend Micro Smart Surfing

Hi,
I have recently installed Trend Micro Smart surfing with serial number starting with TCEF. I am currently running my mac book pro on OSX Maverics Version 10.9.4. As soon as I installed the software, I got the error message that the software is not compatible with this version of OS. I went to applications and selected Trend Micro Smart surfing and moved it to trash and also emptied the trash. After this my laptop is rebooting frequently. I even went to safe mode and then into
system preferences ---> users and groups---> Login items and found nothing related to Trend Micro smart surfing. I have also tried to reinstall max osx and still having reboot issue. I have a lot of data and I am afraid I will loose this. Can anyone please help me out.
Thank you in Advance for all the help.

Uninstall the Trend Micro product by following the instructions on whichever of the pages linked below is applicable:
Removing Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security
Uninstalling Trend Micro Smart Surfing
Restart. If the program was incompletely removed, reinstall it and start over. Back up all data before making any changes.

• Trend-Micro Smart Surfing for Mac

I know that malware is not a big concern for Mac users, yet. However, I am interested in trying new products as they come out. I use Trend-Micro products for Windows at work on a daily basis and they are a fantastic company when it comes to malware protection. They just came out with their first product for Mac: Trend-Micro Smart Surfing for Mac. I was thinking of using the 15-day trial just for the heck of it. Does anyone have any experience with this software?

This topic has been brought up countless times on the forums. Search for the word "virus" and you'll get quite a few hits.

Limnos' post is probably the one to look at.
Many of the long-time users here agree that the most effective anti-spyware/malware/adware/what have you protection is for the user to pay attention to what he/she is doing.
-Create a standard user account and use that for daily tasks. Use the admin account to perform updates.
-Don't download files from sites you don't know. Don't install anything unless you know what it is.
We did use the Virex anti-virus system years ago for one of our Macs. It was running OS 7 (ancient history, really). None of our current Macs, all of which are running OS X Tiger or Leopard, have any anti-virus software installed, and we haven't had any problems.
If you do choose to install anti-virus, the only real reason to do so is to prevent the spread of any Windows viruses that make their way onto your machine.

• Finder keeps interfering with my Trend Micro Smart Surfing update...

My Micro Trend Smart Surfing has an update. It gets to 99% and Finder comes back to the front and Trend stops/disappears and becomes inactive before the update can complete. When I put my pointer over the Trend symbol I get a spinning beach ball. What steps do I need to take for the update to complete and Finder to behave? Thank you in advance.

I uninstalled so need help needed anymore with this question. Thank you anyway.

• Good games for Mac Mini2,1 with OS X 10.6.8?

Hi everyone!
I have recently purchased a Mac Mini2,1 off eBay (1.83ghz, about to upgrade to 4GB RAM, OS X 10.6.8 (will soon be getting 10.7)) and I love action, adventure and puzzle games so I was wondering if there is any good games (free or paid) for my Mac Mini? They don't have to be on the App Store - I can use CNET Download etc.
Thanks guys

I have no suggestions for game but not that if you update to Lion (10.7) some app may no longer work. See:
Upgrading to 10.7 and above, don't forget Rosetta!

• What are some good choices for Mac Mini Speakers?

Hi All....
I have recently purchased a new Mac Mini (i7 Quad Core 2.3 Ghz) and was wondering what a good choice (and cool choice) for Mac Mini speakers.  I have the Harmon Kardon 2.1 speakers which are EXCELLENT but for some reason I'm having trouble getting it to work with the Mini.  Any suggestions or ways to get the Harmon Kardon's working with it???
Thanks ahead!!

Ooops...  Hit the "solved" button by mistake!  hehhee....
Anyway....  I also have a Mac Pro DualQuadCore2.8Ghz....  Which it works with but for some reason I can't get it to work with the Mini.  I'm temporarily using a small iHome speaker in the 3.5 jack.  I don't think the HK SoundSticks have a 3.5 jack....  Just USB.  But I'm still sorting through a ton of cables, plugs and wires...

• Whats a good mouse for mac other then a mighty mouse?

cause i've been though afew mighty mouses and i'm kinda getting tired of them breaking no matter what I do I can't get it to scroll up or to scroll left.
and i've tried cleaning it didn't work so just going to get another mouse for it.
what is a good alternative mouse for mac.
around 50-75$?
thats the only problem i've had out of apple is the mice they sell aren't as good as everything else they sell.

Hi,
Apple mice have always been awful; I only ever liked the +ADB Mouse II+.
I'm very happy with my Microsoft Intellimouse Optical six years on. The five buttons work really well with Dashboard, Exposé (and Spaces) and worked just as well back in OS9. The cable is also a decent length. I've also got a wireless version (1000) in grey/white with just three buttons, although the transceiver is quite chunky.
Here's a five button Bluetooth version (link) that I've got my eye on at the moment.
cheers

• Import execisable trading goods purchase for depot

Dear gurus,
In one of my clients scenario, I have to purchase imported execiasable material from  foreign vendor with all the seven excise duties viz CVD,AED,ECS,SCESS,    BCD and ECEss and HSECess on BCD.But interesting thing is that he want to inventorised all the excise duties for traded materials .For general import purchase we use ZIMPORT prising and in that only customs duties get inventorised and other CVD,AED,ECS,SCESS duties gets refunded, hence non inventorised.
My client wants all CVD,AED,ECS,SCESS duties to be posted in respctive excise register for depot and at the same time all the 7 import duties to be inventorised as they are not getting any setoff for that. IF we use same import prising procedure for depot as like that of manufacturing plant, as i said only BCD and ECEss and HSECess on BCD will get inventorised.
Shall i need to design new prising for depot or new conditions for same import prising?
Kindly help.

Hi Nilesh,
You can either go for pricing schema or modify the existing schema.  If you are going for modifiying existing pricing schema, create one more set of condition types which you need to inventorise (excise conditions like cvd aed etc.) and add them in appropriate places in pricing procedure.  And make these condition types as non-deductable.. (similar to BCD).    In case the excise conditions need to be inventorised, condition value have to entered against these condition types.
Ensure that  at GR and Invoice Verification stage  these conditions values are properly posted, if not use available use-exits in CN to control these condition types.

• How to download a previous purchase for Mac to Windows 8.1?

I purchased Adobe Photoshop and Premiere elements just over a year ago for my old Mac Desktop. It was not very useful because my mac was quite old.
How can I switch to PC download?

You should be able to download the Windows version and use your serial number to activate (unless your license is platform specific - only recently has that been a factor to my knowledge)

• Advice on good monitor for mac mini

Hi there,
Currently considering an iMac or Mac mini and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a good widescreen monitor on a budget to go with the mini if I go down that route..?
Many thanks,
JH
I just hooked up my new mini to the ADC, 30" (2560x1600)....Looks great.
Not making much sense here dude. You mean the 30" Apple Cinema Display? ADC = Apple Display Connector. If so of course it looks great it is a beautiful display, but that is useless information. What is important is how the mini's integrated video chip which is using main memory handles such a massive display with a hi-res such as 2560x1600.
Specifically, is expose' choppy? How about resizing windows such as Finder windows with background pictures in icon view, is it fluid or choppy? How about scrolling large PDF files with many charts, images etc is this choppy and is the CPU getting taxed? (open Activity Monitor and hit command+4 to display the horizontal CPU meters).
Post back let us know some details
