Is unplugging TV-out adapter the only way to turn the second display off
When the video out adaper is plugged in the iMacs resolution resets to what the TV-out can handle, I.e. 1024x768.
I hate to have to plug/unplug the connecter to turn the TV-out off and thereby regain normal resolution on the iMac.
Is that the only way? I was hoping that there is a way to disable the video-out and get the iMac back to normal through software rather than physically pull the plug out to turn it off nd then have to plug it back in when I want TV.
Same goes for audio out. Any way to turn the external off while it's plugged in?

Try using ScreenSpanningDoctor. It'll let you have different resolutions for the TV out and the iMac, stopping that insane behavior. Also check out the Griffin iMic for your audio out. Using VLC you can select the second screen for video playback and the iMic for audio. Hope this helps. (works great here)

phone works great but when on a call proximity sensor kicks in turns off the screen. When I pull the phone away from my head screen is still blank. The force hangup/lock is the only way to bring the screen back on.

But seriously, you said the situation only happens when you have been on a long call, so maybe the iPhone is just autolockng? -
hello, my eyesight issue happens occasionally, from time to time i run multiple apps that use the isight camera. when i close each app the isight camera's green light is still active. When that happens the only way to stop the isight camera is to reboot.
Is there a way to use activity monitor to identify and kill the process controlling the isight? My apologies in advance if this sounds windows (task manager) like.

(Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD." Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

When I try to set the automatic time zone on my iPad wi-fi mini in Settings all I get is the "waiting" wheel constantly turning.
The only way to set the time is in the manual mode.

When I put in a DVD, the mac locks up, an image from the DVD stays on the screen even when the dvd is removed. The only way to remove the image if to do a hard shutdown.
Is the hardware corrupt?Could you be a little more descriptive, does this happen with all DVDs? Please describe the type of DVDs you are attempting to use, commercial movies, blank DVDs, etc...

When we rent a show like The Good Wife while watching the show it freezes and the little circle goes around and around. The only way to get the program going again is to use the remote and go forward or backward. This happens throughout the whole show and it is impossible to watch. Can anyone help? (Mountain Lion) suddenly the screen turns black, and I have to use the on/off switch to turn it on. And, the screen turns to zoom, and the only way to return to normal is to close the window and start all over again?
Does the screen go black while you are using the machine? ...or after it has sat idle for a bit?
If it happens while you're using the machine, check to see if a hot corner has been set for sleep. You can do that here: System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Screen Saver and click the button labelled "Hot Corners..." in the lower right.
If it happens after a bit of idle time, that's normal sleep behavior. The delay can be adjusyed here: System Preferences > Energy Saver.
In either case, pressing any key on the keyboard should bring it out of sleep.
Re zooming -
If this happens while in Safari, and you are using an Apple Magic Mouse, a default setting applicable to it is that a soft double-tap on the mouse will zoom the Safari window. A second double-tap will bring it back.
If it is the entire screen that is zooming, Control plus scroll gesture on the mouse will zoom the whole screen. Repeat with the opposite scroll gesture to bring it back. -
Central 5.4 stops printing, a reboot of the server is the only way to fix the problem

Is InfoPackage Group is the only way to run the InfoPackages Parallel???

If we want to divide a huge full upload InfoPackage with certain selection ranges in each InfoPackage, do we have to run them one by one according to our selcetions or can we run them parallel to each other??
If we run these IPs parallel, is InfoPackage group is the only way or is there any other option and if yes, which one is better??

In your previous posts, you have been advised that InfoPackage groups are obsolete and that you should proceed with process chains. Have you read those replies?

InfoPackage is one option. The better, more widely used and recommended option is using Process Chains.

The only way to get the bookmark link open is to open the folder right click open. Why is this?

Thanks but unfortunately I don't have that option (I'm im Australia) so this will be day 8 that apple have my money without authorisation. The amount has now increased due to the transactions that were pending prior to me cancelling my credit card. The total is now over $300 including the overdrawn fee. It is beyond comprehension that a company the size of apple doesn't have a *real* customer service dept that handle these types of *real* problems immediately via phone contact but I guess that's the point isn't it? If we want to use the apps they provide thru their services and devices we have no choice but to put up with their primitive third world service. I sent them an email via the link you provided 4 days ago. There is no excuse for me to be STILL waiting for this problem to be resolved - none whatsoever, it is disgusting.
