Is video always top layer?

I am trying to place an animation above an flv clip.
Layer 3 swf animation of a few flowers swaying in a breeze
Layer 2 alpha flv of a person speaking
Layer 1 swf background image of field
Layer 0 Slide
No matter where I place the flv in the layer stack it will
not allow layer 3 to be super imposed over it. I have tried also to
"send to back" but no luck. Am I missing a setting? Thanks
Tom

Tom,
I just put up an example of the difference between the FLV
Options
Example
Here
the example uses a transparent swf animation and a FLV with
transparent background

Oke, i've found out that there is no problem while using Banshee. So the screen is always on top playing nibbles and using Totem Movie Player.
Is there someone who knows what might be wrong?

  • Selecting (and resizing, for example) a layer under the top layer via the Program Monitor

    Hello all.
    Using CS5
I am in the timeline and have selected layer 1 which is a video layer
Layer 2 is a title layer.
I want to manually resize layer 1, via the Program Monitor.
But when I go to the Program Monitor and select it Layer 2 (the title layer) becomes selected, preventing me from selecting and manually resizing/repositioning Layer 1.
The above example is a simplified version of what I usually find myself doing.  Usually I have many layers above a layer that I want to resize or reposition (or do something else) but when I try to resize or repositon via the program monitor I am only able to manipulate the top layer.
Any suggestions, other than locking every layer other than what I want to resize etc .?
    Thanks

    Hi Bill,
No they are separate orginal tracks.
Is there a way to "select" a layer below the top layer via the Progam Monitor -- and perform modifications on that lower level -- such a manually resizing on the Program Monitor.  I find if I want to do it via the Program  Monitor I have to temporarily lock the top layer.
And if I have lots of layers above the layer I want to manually resize, I have to lock all of the layers above that layer so I don't start moving around (for example a title layer which might be the top layer of the sequence) in order to manually resize via the Program Monitor.
I know (for example) in the case of scaling or repositioning a layer I could do it via the effects control panel, but I often want to do it via the Program Monitor.

    Hi
I would trash - iMovie pref file - and re-try - sounds like this got faulty.
    • Delete iMovie pref. file. iMovie pref. file resides.
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD) / Users / "Your account" / Library / Preferences
and is named. (one or more of these)
    com.apple.iMovie.plist
    com.apple.iMovie3.plist
    com.apple.iMovie7.plist
    com.apple.iMovie8.plist
    com.apple.iMovie9.plist
    com.apple.iMovieApp.plist
    and find
    com.apple.iApps.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this/these file/s out on to desk-top.
    Now restart iMovie.
If You run Mac OS X.7 or more - then the Library in the User-account folder is invisibly and need to be set to be viewable. IT IS NOT in the Library on Root level (when opening MacintoshHD - first window = root level)
( It can be done like this: Open Terminal, then enter:
chflags nohidden ~/Library (exactly like this - space included)
Press return, then restart, and it will always be visible until the next major update, when you do the same thing again. )

  • Z10's screen top layer coming off

So I have had my z10 for about a almost 2 months now, and all of the sudden it looks as though the top layer or coating is coming off on the phone, everyday there is a new spot that looks as though it's coming off and it's **bleep** me off. I always take care of my phones and never had this happen to any other screens. I did some research and seen this is kinda happening on other phones as well. Anyone here having this problem? Seem blackberry didnt test the quality of their own device. And by the way I love BB10 just this hardware issue **bleep** me off.

Look at the iFixit.com and Powerbookmedic.com web sites for parts and instructions.
    Ciao.

  • How to show employee names in descending order but 3rd row is fixed and always top on the table ?

how to show employee names in descending order but 3rd row is fixed and always top on the table ?
for example employee names is A,B,C, D, E
    and output is     C,E,D,B,A

Since you are posting in the design forum, the short answer is - you don't.  Rows in a table have no inherent order that you can rely on and the "position" of rows is a visual characteristic that should be implemented by the application that displays
this information or by the query that is used to generate the resultset.
So the next question is how one accomplishes this particular order within a select statement.  That is a tsql question which, for future reference, is best posted to the tsql forum.  In addition, many of the questions or issues that you will face
have been discussed in the forums - often many, many times.  The first thing you should do when faced with an issue is to simply search the forums and leverage the the knowledge that has already been discussed.  In doing so you are quite likely to
see suggestions or related issues that you should consider in your search for a solution.
Now, to answer the question - you need to formulate a order by clause that forces the rows to be sorted in the manner you desire.  Effectively you have 2 levels of sorting.  The first level divides your rows into 2 groups.  Group 1 consists
of rows where name = E and Group 2 is everything else.  Following that you then need to sort the rows in each group by name in descending order.  Something like:
order by case name when E then 1 else 2 end, name desc

  • Making a visible top layer invisible for buttons/ controls on a layer underneath it.

    THE PROJECT
I have 3 layers in a CS3 project, in the following order:
    - top Layer (semi-transparent Vignet Layer, and some additional Graphics, all this is contained in a dynamicly loaded mc)
    - Middle layer (Content, this contains the navigation and content. All of this loads dynamicly)
    - Background (this contains a screenfilling Background image and some graphic alements, all this is contained in a dynamicly loaded mc)
    THE PROBLEM
The top layer blocks all off the dynamic content because its on top of it.
    SOLUTION
Dynamicly disable the top layer, so flash doent use it anymore.
I want to keep it visible, but not accessible for any mouse actions.
It has to keep the dynamic content underneath it visible for interaction.
I hope I Described it clear enough, so someone can give me the solution.
I gues it's some real simple code attachment.
    Thanks.

I made a quick exaample to demo having a layer of something atop a controls layer and disabling it from interfering with controls below it.  For this example, the lightened rectangular area is the Vignet layer that sits atop a button on a layer below it--I threw in a background layer too, just to cofuse the eyeballs I guess..  When you click the button it enables the Vignet layer so that it blocks the button, and clicking on it disables it again... just a liuttle variety of commands that might be useful for you at some point.
If you can let me/us know whow you file differs, then maybe it will be easier to identify a different solution if one is needed.

  • Why do videos always start over from the beginning? A bug??

    Hi,
I just did the update and still have the same issue where videos always start from the beginning, when I WANT them to start where they left off. I went into Settings>Video>Start Playing and selected "Where Left Off",  but that didn't help. Is this a bug?? I want it to act as it did on my 3G where I can exit the middle of a video and it will start from that point next time I enter the video... Any ideas???

I have the same problem, not only with videos but with my playlist as well. Everything seems to restart from the beginning.

  • Save copy from psd jpg only saves first/top layer

Am I missing something? I try to save a JPEG and I get the top layer only. The blending options I've chosen and the other layers don't even come into play. What's the deal?

When saving as a jpg the layers are flattened. So anything on top will cover up the lower layers unless you used some type of transparency, mask, or opacity setting, that allows partial view of the lower layers.
That said, jpg also does not support transparency, so any blank transparent areas will be white.
It is possible that a bug could feasibly remove transparency before flattening, but it should flatten first then remove transparency.
Removing the b/w layer may have allowed transparent areas on the lower layers to affect the layers below them and the b/w layer just did not have any transparent areas.
That's all I can think of for now, with out seeing your screen.

  • Cannot view layers beneath top layer

    Hi
I am facing this problem in my Adobe Photoshop CS3, where I cannot view any layer other than the topmost layer in my document window upon selecting it. It does get selected when I click on it in the layer menu, and the document window title bar does show the name of the selected layer although it continues to display the top layer instead of the one that I have selected. Also, the visibility icon (the eye) is on for all layers, so that is not the problem.
I tried resetting default settings, but this still continues to happen. Please help!
    Thanks!
    Bhumycka.
    p.s. - I use Windows Vista.

Sounds perfectly normal to me, check out this page about how layers in Photoshop work:

  • Workflow issue - How do you stop Illustrator selecting the top layer after every save?

    Hi There,
One of the great things about layers is the ability to have elements in a locked layer above the layer you're working on. However, everytime Illustrator finishes saving, it selects the very top layer and if that layer is locked, then you're constantly making a trip to the layers palatte to select the layer you were working on before the save - I must have to do this 50-100 times an hour.
Is there a way to force Illustrator to remember the layer you were working on before the save - and have it return to that layer after the save?
Any pointers in the right direction would be much apprciated.
    Cheers
    Ben

Thanks for the answers - would love to pin this down.
Right now I'm working on a laptop so I have the layers panel in a list view - and use the F7 shortcut to open it (see screenshot attached).
But as mentioned, I've noticed this behaviour from at least CS3 (maybe earlier) and on my workstation I just have the layers panel open on the right side.
One thing that maybe different from most people is that I grew tired of moving from one side of the screen to the other so from CS2 onwards, I've had the main toolbar docked to the right as per the screenshot - on both my workstation and laptop.

  • Imported CAD file..multiple line on top of eachother...selecting only the top "layer"

I have imported a CAD file and after closer examination it seems that the file was created with redundant lines on top of each other. Is there a way I can select only the top "layer" of lines?
I say "layer" in quotes because this file has no actual layers.
    TIA!!
    Dean

    Hi,
You can implement mouse listener for panel and you can identify buttons in the panel with the mouse event of panel using MouseEvent.getComponentAt(MouseEvent.getPoint()) instanceof JButton or not.
    I hope this will help,
    Kishore.

  • Video and Graphics  Layer

i want to display an video in the background and some images and text in the graphics-layer?
plze help to seel the Video and Graphics Layer to be transparent in order to see the Video?
    thanks&regards

Do not use timelines as menu transitions. Timelines are placed in a different physical location on the disc, often times AFTER your main video. So when you are on the menu, the laser is reading in one spot of the disc, then for the transition, it might have to seek all the way to the other side of the disc, causing delays and possible blackness while is searches.
For my Pro Motion Menu Kits which incorporate advanced motion menus created in after effects, I use a different process.
For the intro sequence, you obviously can't use a menu transition as there is nothing to transition from. The better method is to use a MENU as the intro sequence. Create a blank menu and set the intro animation as the motion background. Set it's end action to the main menu, and make sure you configure it to not loop. This will physically place the intro video with the other menus on the disc when it is built, and minimize any delays caused by seeking.
As for the transition, you can use the menu transition feature of encore. With the button selected, go to the transition tab under properties and set it to your transition animation asset. You can only select a single asset, so a good way to include audio with the transition is to create an after effects composition with the audio and video, then import it into encore as a dynamic linked asset, and use it for the transition.
If you want a complete walkthrough tutorial on how to set all this up in encore, I have created one for my Pro Motion Menu Kit products. It is freely available to anyone from the tutorial section of my site, and even if you aren't using my products, it can still be extremely helpful in how to implement custom motion menus using intros, moving backgrounds, and transitions that all seamlessly flow together.

  • When you reduce opacity of a top layer how do you keep a bottom layer from shining through?

I have two objects intersecting each other on different layers. The object on the top layer I reduced the opacity for and the bottom layer which was previously hidden now is shining through. I do not want this to happen. I want the bottom layer to remain hidden beneath the top layer despite the lowered opacity. How would I accompish this simply? I have CS2.
Thanks for any help with this...

    Thanks Trex,
Yes! This works very well, amazingly great advice. One side note you might be able to use for future reference: the object on the bottom layer assumes a slightly different hue than the object on the top layer even when I adjust the opacity to the exact same level (both objects were the same color to begin with). I discovered this was because colors show up slightly different whether the background is white or a background with no color. So I simply created one more layer and placed a white colored object and placed this layer below my bottom layer object. This then matched the colors of both the intersecting objects.
Anyways, you probably already knew this, can be confusing to explain all of this in words.
Thanks a lot for your help, this saved me many minutes of frustration.
