Is Windows 8.1 and HP 8620 compatible?

I recently purchased the HP 8620 as an upgrade from the 8600. Im on the second printer becasue I could never get the first to print so I took it back thinking it was a defected printer. Now I can't get the second one to print either. I've run every diagnostic there is and everything checks out as working, but when I go to print nothing happens. The printer is connected to my network, my computer (HP Envy) is connected to the router and shows the printer but nothing prints. Ive had Verizon FIOS, HP Tech Support and Geek Squard remotely controll my computer and neither of them could fix the problem.
Any suggestions? Please speak in layman terms so I can follow along. I never had connection issues with the 8600. I downloaded everything online and connected wireless. The printer didn't come with a usb cord so I couldn't connect that way.

The HP8620 driver does not seem to work for me in Windows 8.1 Pro. You try all of the HP diagnostics and everything passes, it even prints a test page from the HP print and scan doctor... but it does not print from Windows. If you are quick you might see the document appear for less than a second in the “See what’s printing window”... but it still does not print. “Print a test page” only results in “Test page failed to print. Would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance?”... and still no print.
Resolution: Force the HP8620 to use the old HP8600 driver. Not clean, probably some missing options, but at least you can print.
If you don’t already have it: Download the HP8600 basic driver from the HP website: HP Officejet Pro Basic Print and Scan Driver (OJ8600_Basicx64_1315.exe). Install, but chose the option to connect your printer later.
Go to the Desktop> Settings >Control Panel >Hardware and Sound>Devices and Printers
You will see your HP8620 listed.
Right click>Printer Properties>HP Office Jet Pro 8620... Select Advanced tab. Click on the Driver drop down, if you previously had a real HP8600 you may see it listed, if so select it, if not click ‘New Driver’. Follow this, Manufacturer is HP, Printer is HP Officejet Pro 8600. (Don’t be tempted to try the Fax driver just because it is first in the list, you need to scroll down and find the 8600 driver, it’s above the 8620 driver that does not work)... Finish up
Try a test print...
Note that the printer is now called HP Officejet Pro 8600 in the list of printers.
Hope this is of some use!

  • What is the URL for Windows Sound Recorder and is I compatible with podcast

I have recorded a podcast on Sound Recorder on Windows XP and i want to know how i can find the URL and if it is Podcast compatible. It is a wave audio file. Can you guys please, please help me!!!????
    W4065 Emachines   Windows XP

A recording you made in Windows Sound Recorder, until you do something else with it, is NOT on the Internet and has no URL at all.
.Wav files are not suitable for direct use as podcast episodes as they tend to be uncompressed which makes them shockingly huge to download. You'll want to convert it to mp3 format to make it sensible for sharing.
You'll then need to either upload it to a managed podcasting service, or post it on your own blog, or any of the other normal ways of doing the "podcasting" step of podcasting. There's plenty of howtos and walkthroughs on various ways of doing this.

  • Trouble with Windows 8.1 and hp officejet 8620

Hi, we've installed a brand new hp Officejet Pro 8620.
We've installed the full software package on a Windows 8.1 machine.
It all seemed to be fine, but suddenly our machine is not capable of print on certain circumstances:
    - It can't print from:
    a) Notepad: "incorrect parameter" error message
    b) Office: Word, Excel, etc...    no error, but it simply does not print
    c) Adobe Acrobat: no error, but it simply does not print
    d) Test print from printer configuration: error
    but it CAN print from:
    a) hp printer assistant, hp print scan and doctor (hp software)
    b) hp AiO printer remote (it's a Metro app), only pdfs
    c) Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc...
We've tried to reinstall the whole package with no success. It seems that's something's wrong with the driver and desktop applications, any ideas? Anyone with similar problem?
    Best,

    This question was solved.

Finally we've used the proposed solution on:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/Is-Windows-8-1-and-HP-8620-compatible/t...
The trick is drivers for 8600 must be downloaded and installed before the change. 8600 drivers included with 8.1 don't work.
We'll wait for new 8620 drivers that could fix this problem. Meanwhile, we can print with 8600 drivers, and scan with 8620 drivers.

I think you mean Photoshop CS2.  Photoshop 2 is from around 1992.  The old Adobe activation servers were taken down. CS2 is about a decade old Adobe made a new download for old customers that legal customers can download and install. Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products

  • Hi i was wondering, my iphone(iOS 7.0.3) cant sync or cannot be read on my itunes(11.1.3.8) on my windows 8.1. So i was wondering if anyone knew when will windows and itunes be compatible officially? or is there another way to fix without waiting?

Hi anyone can help? Cause i cannot sync my iphone(iOS 7.03) on my itunes(11.1.3.8) on windows 8.1? I heard that it is because windows 8.1 and itunes 11.1 " ain't compatible. So i was wondering if anyone knew when will they be compatible or is there another method without me doing much"harm" to my itunes or windows? Please your help is most wanted!!!

I have 8.1 and iTunes and its working. My cloud doesn't so I had to remove the 'sync contacts and calendar to the cloud' and to back to the old say, but I just synced my iPad and iPos (both running 7.0.3) last night and it worked.
There are features with 8.1 that may be messing things up. For example there's a setting when you upgrade to 8.1 where you can turn off the automatic install of drivers. With devices, every time the iOS and iTunes updates there is a new driver to make your device visible on a computer. If you turn off that auto install then you may have blocked your computer from getting that driver.
In addition, with iOS7 there came the 'do you trust this computer' which is a choice you have to make on your device. If you tell your device no, then it may have issues connecting to your computer.

Is Firefox compatible with Window Surface Pro and Win Phone 8

  • Is labview 5 compatible with Windows XP home and professional version?

Can i install labview 5.0 on a windows XP environment- home and professional version?
Also is labview 5.0 and 7.0 compatible with Celerons? Or is there any difficulty?
    Please clarify

They all work fine in these environs. The only trouble you may run into is temporary files not being accessible if the user logged in is not an administrator or the vi was created by an admin and a limited user tries to run it. This can easily be fixed by giving lower users permissions to use these files. The legacy versions of NI-DAQ do not run on XP though, you'll have to use a more recent version of them.

  • Windows Camera compatible with Windows Vista, 7, and 8 in WPF

    Hey everyone,
I am working on a Desktop application that uses DirectShow. It worked fine until we ran it on a Surface tablet in Windows 8. I need a way to control the camera rotation and DirectShow makes it quite difficult to implement.
I would now like to update it to something that is better supported. Media Framework seems to be the solution but the examples I have found seem to apply to Win8, and work as Windows Store Apps.
Does anyone know of some good example code that would help me figure out how to implement using a basic camera to take pictures in a Windows Desktop App, and easily access camera rotation? Alternatively, does anyone know of a 3rd party provider that has
a camera solution I could purchase to incorporate into my code?
    Thanks,

  • It is compatible Obi 11g  with Windows Server  2012 and Sql Server 2012?

    Hi every
    Please help with two questions.
    1. - Obi 11g is supported on Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012?
There a compatibility matrix which mention compatibility with versions 2012?
    2. - is feasible to install Obi 11g in separate server and install weblogic on another server?
    I appreciate the prompt response
    Regards
    Pedro

    Hi Pedro,
As of November 2012 Compatibility Matrix released by Oracle for OBI 11.1.1.x Windows 2012 and SQL Server 2012 were not supported. It was supported on 2008 Windows and SQL Server.
We can have weblogic and OBI server's on 2 different machines. The approach is to opt software only install. the link below will give more details:

Let me know if this helped.

  • Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after upgrading to windows 8.1 and now cannot scan

Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after upgrading to windows 8.1 and now cannot scan through Adobe, although Scanner says its combatible with Windows 8. Cannot reinstall drivers because Brother claims they're built-in. Help!

    1. Re: Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after upgrading to windows 8.1 and now cannot scan

I am using a Brother MFC 8460N and on Brother's site it says its compatible with win 8.1 and that the driver is already installed. When I try to scan I am told there is no preset (there was with win 7 though) and I have to "custom scan." When I try that, I hear a sound as if the printer is trying to scan, but the feeder can't pull the paper through. I then get a blank .pdf as my scan. Thanks for your advice. I will try that.

How do I port my Windows Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files to the MAC?  What software is needed on the MAC to use them?  Thanks.

You can certainly use iWork, though I hesitate to recommend it to a seasoned Windows user simply because it would add another level of the unfamiliar with which you would have to gain familiarity. The iWork applications are certainly very competent and in most respects both easy to use and surprisingly powerful. They are not 100% compatible however, though that typically manifests itself in document formatting issues rather than anything more significant.
I have never attempted to import emails from a Windows system into MacOS - other than in Outlook connected to an Exchange server, thus not really an issue at all. I doubt that the Mail app in MacOS can import directly, but of course you could always set the account(s) up on the Mac and then forward emails you want to keep from the PC. Not elegant, but it works. Virtually any Windows document or file, whichever application created it, can be opened or converted for use on a Mac, and using both systems on my desk each day I rarely see any issues switching stuff from one machine to the other. You may stumble over one or two issues, but likely not significant.
In switching platforms there will be some inevitable issues, not so much with being able to import your stuff because there's usually a workaround or a utility that can help, but just with getting familiar with the platform and the differences between Windows and MacOS that can obscure their similarities. From time to time the support community here hears from a user who has found the migration very problematic and regrets it, but for the most part the phrase 'I should have done this years ago...' is rather more prevalent!
