Is Windows Live Mail 2012 compatible with Windows 8.1 ?

I'm having ongoing problems with WLM 2012 not responding after I try to attach a file to a new email.
As soon as I click 'attach' the program stops responding and I have to close it down.
I've used 'Find & Fix Problems' and in 'Programs' it offers different settings for WLM saying it is "An incompatible Program".
This temporarily fixes the problem until I close the program and restart it when it comes back again?
Is this a known problem with WLM 2012 and 8.1?
Are Microsoft offering a fix for it?

Hi,
No, this should not be a compatible issue, sounds like a software conflict, perform a reinstallation to fix it.

  • I cannot send an email with attachment from elements 11 via windows live mail 2012 on my windows 8.1 pc.  Can anyone help?

I am using elements 11, windows live mail 2012 on a windows 8.1 PC.  When trying to attach an elements 11 image to an email via the sharing option in Organizer, I get a message that the email message cannot be completed, and to try Adobe mail.  I have set preferences to windows live mail, but no success.

    Hi,
With Windows 8, the new message sometimes hides in the taskbar
When you see the spinning circle, look at the taskbar to see if the Windows Live Mail has grown another task. Hover over the icon on the taskbar to shown the two images, right click on the right hand image and then select maximize. That should show the message ready for sending.
    Good luck.

  • ICloud Mail on Windows Live Mail 2012

    Hi.
I have recently bought a new PC as my old one was showing its age (it was 6 years old). On my old PC (running Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit), I had no issues running iCloud Mail inside Windows Live Mail 2012 using IMAP in the few years
However, for some reason, I keep getting the following error on my new machine (Windows 7 Pro 64Bit):
Your IMAP command could not be sent to the server, due to non-network errors. This could, for example, indicate a lack of memory on your system.
    Configuration:
       Account: iCloud (xxxx)
       Server: imap.mail.me.com
       Username: [email protected]
       Protocol: IMAP
       Port: 993
       Secure(SSL): 1
       Code: 800ccc0f
I copied the whole Windows Live Mail email folder onto the new PC, and all the settings for my iCloud were imported, and worked out of the box (apart from the above issue). All the port/server information seems to work as expected, along with the other settings.
Is there a way I can try and get to the bottom of this issue? The error suggests an issue with memory, and I am running Win 7 Pro on a Core i7 Quad Core Processor with 4GB of RAM, and Im nowhere near this on general browsing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Try running IE9 w/o Add ons.  Let me know if it works for you.

  • Windows Live Mail 2012 - Outgoing Email Times Out due to Lost Server Connection

Using Windows Live Mail 2012 on WIN7 64-bit.
Been receiving emails seemingly without issues, but...
Haven't been able to POST any outgoing emails now since September 16th for any of my main/sub accounts.
Indicator is a Norton Internet Security popup stating:
"Email Error. Your email message was unable to be sent because the connection to your email server was interrupted. Please open your email client and resend the message from the Sent Messages folder." Then it lists the from/to/subj.
I recompose and try to resend; same results.
I've rolled WIN7 back to September 6th, but results are the same.
I thought perhaps NIS was blocking the SMTP port, but same results when I turn off NIS and Antivirus. I don't see anything of significance in NIS's logs.
Of course, Verizon's mini-app that sniffs out and corrects email problems does not know or care about Live Mail. Just Outlook and OE.
    Ideas? Things to try? Thanks.

I noticed my email account server settings don't match what is defined on the FiOS email setup page on verizon.com.
The server setting I have for my POP3 is "incoming.verizon.net" (not pop.verizon.net) and my SMTP server setting is "outgoing.verizon.net" (not smtp.verizon.net).
    Why don't these match?
Also, my port settings don't seem to match what's posted online.
My outbound port is 25 (not 465) and my inbound port is 110 (not 995).
Doesn't seem right to me, and I'm wondering what changed in the past week?
The changes to pop/smtp from incoming/outgoing have been in the works for a while. Maybe Verizon finally go around to disabling the old servers?
Either way, you should update to the latest settings.
For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up fictional account "[email protected]" and the password for logging into that account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.
The settings for using Verizon's servers would be:
    Incoming Server: pop.verizon.net
    Server Requires Authentication: Yes
    Username: fakeacct
    Password: fakepassword
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 995
    Outgoing Server: smtp.verizon.net
Server Requires Authentication: Yes (You can set it to use the same settings as incoming, or manually enter the username and password.)
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 465
If you are given the option anywhere for Secure Password Authentication (SPA), set it to No or Normal

  • Can Windows Live Mail be synced with my iPad?

My mail account is with Comcast; however I view my mail in Windows Live on my PC. I am able to view the mail on my iPad e-mail app, also. My problem is getting it to sync. I can't get my contacts to copy to my iPad and when I delete an e-mail from my PC, it remains on my iPad. If my understanding of the whole syncing process is correct, I thnk once I delete from my PC it should be gone from my iPad. Am I doing something wrong or is it not possible to sync Windows Live with my iPad?

Comcast does not support imap. Personally I would leave them just for that if I didn't for crappy and overpriced service 10 years ago.
There are two problems you are dealing with right now. One with pop accounts sync of the mail is going the way you noticed. There is a way to adapt settings and there are instructions here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3228
I didn't find for windows live, but you can try use "windows mail" once you see you will get the gist of it. You want to keep mail on the server for 7 days. It will give you time to download mail to both and then deleting should sync.
Second problem are your contacts. At that time sync with windows live is not supported. If windows live mail however put your contacts inside of your "windows contacts" folder then you can get itunes to sync those. Search location of that folder for your Windows on Google. Check if you see your contacts inside and then sync using regular itunes sync.

  • Windows Live Mail not connceting with BT email

    Hi
After 11 weeks trying to get help from BT I managed to get my BT email working, sort of. The problem I'm left with is that Windows Live Mail will not connect to it, an error message of user or password not recognised appears. I've read various messages on the internet but still have had no success. My Windows Live settings are as follows:
    Servers
    My incoming mail server: POP3
    Incoming mail: mail.btinternet.com
    Outgoing mail: mail.btinternet.com
Email username: [email protected]  (have tried this with the part before the @ also)
Password: xxxxx (Password working on BT email)
Log on using clear text authentication
    Advanced
    Server port numbers:
Outgoing mail: 465 with SSL ticked
Incoming mail: 995 with SSL ticked
Any idea what is wrong? Should I go back to BT about this when incoming and outgoing mail is working using BT email? Thanks for any help

Windows Live Mail 3 beta is now available for download.  One important new feature is a calendar which automatically synchronizes with the Windows Live web calendar.  I'm hoping that Palm's "Hot Sync" will eventually support Windows Live Mail 3 so that Outlook is no longer necessary.  Is there a plan to support WLM3?

  • Problem Exporting Windows Live Mail 2012 To Outlook 2013 (Office 365 32 bit)

    Hi-
When I try to export my WLM to Outlook 2013, it hangs at the same record every time (record 55 of 2600+ -- that's just one folder, but the largest folder.) I probably have 10,000 emails in WLM.
It does not seem to be taking the emails from oldest to newest, so I cannot tell which email is tripping it up. I assume if it only made it to #55 of 10k, there are many more hang up points as well. I was exporting all folders. I was able to export a single,
very small folder successfully (30 emails.)
I tried exporting just the large folder by itself but it still hung at #55.
Any help in diagnosing/fixing would be greatly appreciated. WLM is a nightmare -- I have been paying the price ever since OE went away. I want to be rid of it once and for all.
    Thanks
    Brian

    Hi Brian,
First, I'd recommend you check if there are some large emails in the large folder. You can sort the emails by size to find those large emails. Then, just move these large emails to a subfolder and try exporting the rest emails into Outlook to see
    the result.
In addition, we can use the following method to import as many as possible emails in the large folder into your Outlook:
    1. In Windows Live Mail, create a subfolder under the large folder.
    2. Move half of emails from the large folder to the subfolder.
    3. Export the large folder and the subfolder separately into Outlook. This will help us determine which half part of the emails may hang the process.
    4. Repeat above steps for the problematic half part of emails.
Since this issue is also related to Windows Live Mail, you can also post your question in the forum for Windows Live Mail to see if we can get any good suggestions:

I can't add a tab for email for windows live mail to the tab bar, I am using windows 7, 64 bit . I can add it to the 32 bit o/s, but not the 64 bit.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Push Mail Not Working Properly for Windows Live Mail when Online At Windows Live Messenger

    Hello,
This is quite an old subject, but it seems to be a recurring problem across versions of Windows Live Messenger handheld client software and Blackberry Internet Service server software. For some time, I used to have no issues with Live Messenger and Push Mail from Hotmail. Now, once again, I am having a huge delay, of several hours, when logged on as “Online” to Windows Live Messenger.
What makes me believe that it is not a Windows Live limitation, by design, due to protocols and notification mechanisms in use, is the fact that I can receive both push mail and instant message notifications, immediately, as long as I am logged on to Windows Live Messenger as “Busy” or “Away”. If the protocols in place allowed notifications to only a single service at a time, I believe it should not work regardless of the status on Windows Live Messenger.
I have been using Hotmail for quite a while and most of my friends use Windows Live Messenger, so I would like to keep both working in my BlackBerry. I understand BlackBerry has a commitment to offering broad compatibility, great stability, and better integration than other solutions on the market that appeals to fancy user interfaces and forget about objectivity. Having a mobile platform that can keep both the corporate and consumer world happy is definitely a great advantage. There are several loyal users that would like to keep sharing the proficiency on a common user interface for business and personal use.
I do not often post messages to online forums, but this is an issue that has been annoying me for quite some time and I am really looking forward to a solution. Is anyone experiencing the same behavior with Windows Live Messenger lately? Is RIM looking for a solution?
    Thanks,

Ahhh...given that description, it may be WAD (Working As Designed):
KB15747Email message delivery is delayed because of an integrated Windows Live Hotmail account on the BlackBerry smartphone
As such, there would be nothing to report...

  • The iPhone 3 and Windows Live Mail Calendar

I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer.
    1. Is the Windows Live Mail Calendar compatible with the iPhone?
    2. If not, why not? Are there any plans for this to happen?
    3. If they are, how do I sync the two?
    Thanks!
    Richard

Yes, it is compatible and it syncs over the air.
