Is WXGA+(1440x900)LED LCD coming to T500, if so can I change panels later myself????

I really like the t500 series, and wanted to buy it for few months but the did not have LED displays. But finally lenovo released the WXGA LED , which is great except for low resolution .  And for some reason t400 has the WXGA+ LED.
I talked to lenovo reps on the phone, but nobody can give a definite answer on if WXGA+ coming to T500.
So the question is:
If I buy t500 with WXGA LED LCD, and then lenovo releases WXGA+ LED LCD, Will I be able to purchase the display panel it self, and then install it into my laptop myself, or will it require changing other hardware component as well????
Q2:
Or should I Just go for WSXGA+(1680×1050) TFT, w/ CCFL Backlight???
Thanx.

Welcome to the forum!
While I can't answer your question on if and when WXGA+ LCDs are coming to T500 series, there are a couple of other things that I can tell you:
a) By replacing the LCD by yourself you will void the warranty.
b) The cost of WXGA+ LCD in addition to T500 without one is likely to cost you a lotmore than a factory-configured T500 with the LCD that you want.
From my (not so modest) experience, most T models are always offered with more than one resolution, so I believe that you'll get to see WXGA+ on a T500...
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
George

  • When i send an IMessage it say's its coming from my email how can i change it so it comes from my phone

How can I get my phone to send IMessages from my phone and not my email ?

I had the same problem, but it was only doing it to one contact. I found an answer that worked for me in a previous post. Go to settings/messages/received at and then click on your apple id on the top of the screen and log out. Then log back into your apple id account by going to the messages screen and choosing to log in. You will want to turn your imessage off and back on again once your logged back in to reset it. That should work. If that doesn't fix it there is also a caller id option on the bottom of the same screen settings/messages/received at and make sure your phone number is selected rather than your email address. I hope this helps.

  • 70" Sharp LED-LCD TV as monitor for Mac Mini?

I just purchased a 70" Sharp LED-LCD TV---considering buying a Mac Mini to watch TV online and ditching my DirecTV.  TV resolution is 1920 x 1080.  Will I be able to get a High Definition picture as clear as HD DirecTV this way?

what are you planning on watching on the MM?  if you're thinking of getting rid of DirecTV and getting all of your programming from Hulu or something like that, those sites don't stream in 1080p, so no.  If you're downloading BluRay rips and watching those, then yes, it'll display in 1080p.  I believe it can actually handle resolutions higher than 1080, but since no TVs support those resolutions (yet), you'll be limited to 1080.

  • Insignia LED-LCD HDTV Model: NS-32E570A11

I am Handicapped & Disabled & Must be hooked up to medical experiment for 6-7 hours a day & remain in bed & awake during this time.  I purchased this TV :   Insignia  LED-LCD HDTV Model: NS-32E570A11
    after my 7 month old Dynex™ - 32" Class / 720p / 60Hz D/ LCD HDTV DVD Combo
Model:DX-32LD150A11  refused to hold & recognize in it's memory HD channels. Guess I should have read the posts from other Dynex users, cuz there are a lot of problems with Dynex.
Even one of the Managers at my Best Buy store told me that her Dynex same exact TV did the exact same thing.   I am hoping that once repair is done that I will get a  "RA" number so I can get some of my money back on this insignia TV.
I do not See any difference with the Insigna TV & it is not as clear at home as it was in the store.
I have Time Warner cable with extended basic cable & within the last 6 months TWC had installed much larger cables underground & the cable is not the problem.
I did notice that in the store they only had very few channels.   Do they "Tweak" the channels in the store &/or power them differently to get sharper clearer images??
I am ready to take the LED Insignia TV back next time I am in town as it is 26 miles each way to get to the closest store.
I should be able to buy a TV & not have to worry that it is going to die on me. My old  36"Toshiba with a big tube lasted 16+ years.
Any suggestions on "RELIABLE" LCD 32" TV's that I can afford on just my SS income??

Stores do nothing to "tweak" channels in the store. TVs have many dozens of settings that can be changed by a user at home, and sometiems have presets to switch between certain values that the manufacturer has deemed "optimal" for certain viewing situations. If none of the preset settings offer the picture you desire, you will either need to learn how to change the settings to fit your viewing situation, or pay for a professional calibration.
It took me almost 6 months before I got my TV settings the way that I wanted them to be, using the calibration settings on various Disney DVDs, Star Wars DVDs, and special calibration DVDs, and constantly having a critical eye for everything I watched. After all of that time and effort, my TVs are about as close to profesionally calibrated as I can get them.
Have you had Time Warner out to the house to verify that it's not actually a cable problem? Just because they put "bigger cables" in the ground doesn't mean that the signal to your home is any better. Most cable and satellite companies compress their signal quite a bit on HD, and the quality suffers as a result.

  • Samsung LED LCD's and the notorious "clicking" problems?

Has anyone had or heard of the new LED LCD's having the well known "clicking" problem that the LCD's have had?

A clicking problem? I have never heard nor have I ever experianced any such issue. If you could, please go into more detail.

  • Insignia LED LCD 42 Picture Fades

We just bought a 42" Insignia LED-LCD tv and we've noticed that the picture darkens itself and brightens again constantly as we are watching tv. We thought it may be a setting we may have turned on or something, but we cant seem to get it to stop. We've turned the Energy Saver option off and its now to custom. Any suggestions? It's really bugging us that we can't figure this out. We had an LCD (not LED) tv before this one and didnt have this problem.
Any help you can provide would be awesome! thanks!

Actually, there IS a setting to automatically adjust the brightness and contrast in the Advanced Video section of the settings.
From page 17 of the manual:
"Advanced Contrast-When you see the pop-up menu, set Adaptive Contrast to On to adjust picture detail and brightness automatically or to set Dynamic Contrast Ratio to On to automatically adjust the contrast between the light and dark areas of the picture."
Check and see if Adaptive Contrast or Dynamic Contrast Ratio are turned on in the Advanced Video-> Advanced Contrast section of the menu. If they're on, turn them off, and see if the problem goes away.

  • Can I replace my LCD with a NON-LED LCD??

I have a late 2007 Macbook Pro with the 15in LED LCD. A few months after warranty goes, my screen starts dying on me. It's not the graphics card problem, just a screen problem. Genius bar says it will be about $800 to repair. So I go on ebay and look up screens. My question is, does it HAVE to be an LED screen or can it be a regular LCD? This listing* claims this screen is for the A1226 MBP which is what my MBP is, but the listing says its a "ccfl bulb" LCD and doesn't mention anything about LED. Would this work or not? Thanks guys/girls!

Typically not because the power input to the LED (usually 5 volt) is different than that for a florescent lamp which requires a ballast circuit to work. Also the cable connection design will usually get redesigned between the 2 types and the lighting is part of the LCD screen.

  • Soft/Haze text and grapics on LED LCDs with Firefox 4

    Hello,
Ever since I started using Firefox 4 I had this problem. The text and are kind of very soft and blurred when viewed from a LED LCD. I initially thought this must be an isolated problem until I checked it with another brand new laptop.
It too had the same problem. And it really irritates me. And I can clearly see the difference when viewing the same web page from different browsers on the same PC.
You can even eliminate a graphic card issue as both of the laptops I tested use different graphics (vendor and models).
I don't know how many others faced this issue, but I would suggest looking into this.

I don't know how successful the images are but they show the difference I mean. One is taken from Chrome and the other from Firefox 4.
    Edit:
Just previewed the images from FF, the difference is even more. Check this same page from another browser or an older version of FF.

  • X120e HDMI - 27" LED LCD @ 1920x1080 - how does the image look?

    Hi All,
Since that my X120e is not compatible w/ my Dell 30" DVI-D dual link display, I'm about to invest in a 27" LED LCD w/ HDMI input.  If you're using the X120e on a 27" @ 1920x1080 via HDMI too, may I ask how does the image look to you?
Can people even tell that all that images/video come from a lil' laptop?
I asked cos' as we all agree that X120e's built-in display is a lil' on the weak side, I wonder if this carries onto an external display too or not.  Speaking of which, ever since I downloaded all latest drivers (as late as last night), my X120e's picture quality is now noticeably better, have you guys noticed this too?  And I haven't even used Microsoft's picture calibration software yet cos' last time I used it, all grey areas looked pinkish.
    Thanks.

Yeah, as ColonelONeill said, the picture qualities are independent.
Most likely, if you encounter any picture quality issue on the external, it's going to be due to picture options on that monitor itself (color temperature, brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc. etc.) that can be adjusted independent of any setting that the computer has.  Any calibration tool software on the PC only adjusts how the data is sent out to the monitor in question.  Hardware + Software calibration tools are considerably more reliable because they can take into account the settings on the monitor itself.  Sadly one can't adjust the laptop's screen's settings itself.
If you're going to use the HDMI connection, don't forget to go into your Catalyst Control Center and adjust the overscan / underscan setting to get the image to fill up your monitor's screen.  AMD sets the overscan / underscan option to default with a slight border around the desktop.  This in turn can cause a sort of blurriness because the pixels on the monitor is not 1:1 to the pixels that the laptop is outputting (1920 x 1080 resolution being fit into a 1820 x 980 resolution with a 50 pixel black border, for example).
P.S. the Overscan / Underscan option only shows up in CCC if you have the device connected through HDMI.

  • Insignia 39" 1080p LED LCD HDTV

I bought an Insignia 39" LED LCD HDTV on line last month & I love it. It comes in crystal clear & it was cheap for a almost 40" HDTV. It was, at the time, $259.99 on line last month. With shipping, handling & taxes it came to $330.00 about. Very cheap compared to more expensive name brands. I like it & it was a good deal. Thanx again Best Buy. You guys are great when it comes to electronics, appliances, PC's, & HDTV's...

  • Insignia 55inch led LCD no digital inputs.

I have an Insignia 55inch led LCD that was damaged by lightning.  Now I only have coax and RCA inputs.  All the HDMI inputs are inoperable.  Is this worth fixing?  It is out of warranty and my insurance deductible is higher than the replacement cost.  Is there a Insignia repair center in Dallas Texas I can get an estimate from?

While the discussion of what is and isn't covered is  moot since the OP said it's outside of warranty (assuming this means he owned it past the warranty period), I did want to point this out to bubberuchi under exclusions:
Damage to your product caused by accident (unless you have purchased the optional ADH or Advanced Coverage and it’s a covered event), abuse, neglect, intentional physical damage, misuse (including faulty installation, repair, or maintenance by anyone other than an authorized service provider), unauthorized modification, viruses and/or spyware (unless you have the Vi-Spy Coverage), performance failures due to not maintaining firmware updates, extreme environment (including extreme temperature or humidity), external condensation, mold, immersion/submersion in liquid (e.g. pool, bathtub, etc.), lightning, fire, flood, insect infestation, rodents, war, terrorism, computer software related failures, Acts of God or other external causes.
If you take the contract as a whole, it sounds like power surges are covered, as long as they are not due to lightning. This didn't make sense to me until I learned that lightning is one of the less common causes of power surges. I always thought lightning was a major cause. TIL...

  • I created an iCloud account for my sons ipod tried to sign into the App Store and it just keeps coming up with unknown error can you help

I created an iCloud account for my sons ipod tried to sign into the App Store and it just keeps coming up with unknown error can you help

Skip the iCloud sign in for now.
Once you reach the home page, go to settings and sign out of FaceTime and Messages.  This should also sign you out of iCloud.
Go to iCloud in settings and sign in with the correct Apple ID.
    If that does not work
    Skip the iCloud sign in
Go to Apple ID.apple.com and sign in
Change your Apple ID to the old one
Delete iCloud account on your device with the old Apple ID and the same password.
Go back to the website, change your Apple ID back to the current one. You will receive an email to verify the account. Verify first.
Sign into iCloud on your device with the correct Apple ID and password

I bought an app, it is coming as installed but I can not find in ipad

First thing to try is a reboot of your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
