Is X-Fi ExtremeMusic still produci

Hi!
I'm from Romania and i want to purchase a Creative X-Fi ExtremeMusic sound card but i have difficulties finding it in local stores. They all say to me that importers have difficulties finding it too. Now i've seen that Americas Creative on-line shop doesn't have it on stock either.
My questions are:
.Doesn't Creative manufacture anymore this sound card? And if so why? It is a good sound card.
2. Is ExtremeGamer is a good substitute or i loose some useful features?
Any feed-back is appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I wanna know this too...i have an Xtreme music, and now it is discontinued?

We are not Apple, just end users like you. That said, I do not see any such items among these listings on the Apple store:

  • Transcoded a project probably 7 times now with different settings. Still producing screen flickers.

    Hey everyone.
This is my first post. I'm still green  in the industry and dont know all the intricasies of the ins and outs  of encore, but I feel I have a decent grasp on what im doing...
Here's the scoop:  Project is an hour and a half, frame rate at 29.97 with an anamorphic  aspect. Classical guitar performance; very little movement, a couple  camera angels, some pictures thrown in, simple stuff. Photoshop menus;  no .mov files or audio in the menu... Every time I have transcoded I  have ended up with blips, or flashes, or flickers throughout the  project. Basically for a fraction of a second you see video from another  part of the timeline. Like Tyler Durden's porn scene prank in the movie  Fight Club.
I've tried automatic settings, 2 pass hq 4mb variable bit rate, 1 pass 8mb hq cbr, 2 pass 23.976 4mb (out of desperation, I know it's the wrong frame rate) constant bit rate at 6 mbs, and custom settings for vbr 2 pass and 1 pass vbr. I'm burning at 3x as well.
My next thought is transcoding at an even lower cbr like 3 mbps? I read that you can also transcode a project in multiple sections before a build. Would this be a worth while endeavor?
Any help or suggestions or comments I can get will be greatly appreciated. As you can imagine I need to get this done yesterday.
    Thank you!

  • Can system produce one single invoice for bulk of sales orders?

    Hie all...
I have a few questions with regards to sales orders per Billing.
    1) Can the system cater for creation of only ONE Invoice for about 8,000 sales orders in one click of VF04?
    2) Is there a limit of sales order to be created in ONE Invoice? If there is, how much is the maximum limit?
    3) If can, will there be any performance issue to the system? Waht are the impact that we should be aware of?
I've tested billing for lesser sales orders (execute VF04 for 5,427 s/orders only). However, the system still produce 2 Invoices and yet still has remaining 407 sales orders not processed.
i have read the discussion about Billing line item here Re: Maximum no of lines in the Invoice but the issue is still uncleared to me.
    TQVM!

    Hie all.
My appology for the above post. I have double check the bill and found the split analysis as mentioned by G.
As this is my first time encounter the split scenario, would appreciate if anybody would share the knowledge on how to tackle my issue here. I found tHE split analysis as follows:
Split due to different header data
                                                                                    Fld Name                        0300001429           0300001430
                                                                                    Country of Destination          MY                   SG
Region (State, Province, Count  SL                   SG
Country of Sales Tax ID Number  MY                   SG
    Reference Document Number       0300001429           0300001430
    Payment Reference               0300001429           0300001430
    1) All sales order's Sold-to-Party hardcoded to onely one customer - e.g 10919 but different Ship-to-Party
    2) I assume that Country of Destn, Region and Country of Sls Tax Id data is taken from Customer master data but why does it takes Ship-to-Party customer master data? Can i change it to take Sod-to-party Master data?
    3) I believe i need to change the Origin sls tax no from A (Ship-to-Part) to C (Sold-to-Party) but can anybody pls help pointing out the tcode or menu path to do so? (TQ!).
    4)  believe also should point #4 above be resolved, Ref Doc No. and Payment Ref No. will not be an issue anymore.
    Appreciate any feedback.
    TQVM!

Apple is still producing batteries for your MBP, yes. The "higher capacity" (though certainly not double!) batteries from FastMac are also still available.

  • Forbidden Screen - Error: "Still waiting for root device"

Greetings to all! I come to you with my boot troubles as a supplicant, in the hope that someone can help.
I have a PowerBook G4 15-inch, pre-Intel from late 2005. Until today it always worked and rarely hanged. All I've ever needed to do when in trouble was reboot. I've updated the Apple OSX software regularly and have never touched the hardware, except once 18 months ago to add memory. All I do with this machine is use it. It's been weeks since I installed any new software.
There were no warning signs before the problem started today.
FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE: The machine was unusually slow, showing beach balls on every minor move. I powered down conventionally and later turned it on again. After a minute I got the "Forbidden Sign" grey screen, which I had never seen before. So I rebooted, and got that again.
+I turned to the only other available machine (very old PC, unfortunately) to browse for solutions, and have so far tried the following:+
    1) BOOT FROM INSTALLATION DISK: Forbidden Screen. After a couple of attempts I removed the disk (by clicking trackpad on power up). At some point, in desperation, I even tried Disc 2.
    2) RESET PRAM (Command-Option-P-R on power up) : I got three chimes, then the grey screen. It stayed on the apple and gear for many minutes. At least it never went to the Forbidden Screen.
    3) FILE SYSTEM CHECK (Option-S on power up) : After a few steps it shows error messages (see below) and starts repeating, "Still waiting for root device," over and over.
    4) RESET NVRAM (Command-Option-O-F on power up) : I got a blue screen with text and was able to input "reset-nvram" (response: OK) and then "boot." Result: Forbidden Screen.
    5) SAFE START (Option on power up) : Forget it. Forbidden Screen. Same when I try it with "C" as some sites recommend. Same with or without the Install Disk in the DVD driver.
    6) POWER MANAGEMENT UNIT RESET (Shift-Control-Option-Power): Subsequent boot still produces Forbidden Screen.
    *THE ERROR MESSAGES*
Here are some of the messages when I start up with Option-S:
CSRHIDTransitionDriver::probe booting in single user .. do not match

Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleUSBTCKeyEventDriver" has no kernel dependency.

*So now I'm begging anyone for answers to these questions:*
    Am I doomed?
Does anyone know what the problem is?
This seems to be happening prior to disk access, as it happens with or without the Install Disk. So do I still have the hard drive working? Is my data on it?!
Was resetting the Power Management Unit a bad idea?
    What can I do next?
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
    Nicholas from NYC

    Thanks for your reply, Louie!
In the meantime I have succeeded in booting via the Install Disc using Option on power up. The Hardware test shows nada wrong. Disk Util repair goes up to "Rebuilding Category B-Tree" and then fails. Frustratingly, the HD is somehow visible, because the diagnostics correctly identify it and give correct values for empty space. Right now I'm running the Erase Free Space option and it's working - how is that possible? I've gotten into Single User mode and tried various FSCK commands. Sometimes it comes back with the superblock error and "Bad Magic Number" which I believe indicates a corrupted block within the boot sector. I can't figure out how to reassign without reformatting and losing the data. This will cost me a few weeks of data, but really not that much work - still set me back by days.
Next step will be to start taking it apart, as you suggest, starting with the easy matter of trying with just one DIMM or switching the DIMMs.
Thanks again, and if anyone knows how to help - how does one reassign a superblock from the Single User mode?

  • Jbuilder produced class files?

I have a problem converting class files produced by JBuilder IDE (v 6.0). The converter reports the following error:
"Missing static field initializer in field XYZ", where XYZ is declared in the source as:

If I declare it non-zero or remove the static keyword the converter accept the produced class files. Any ideas?

  • Asha 210 produces headset-quality sound instead of...

The phone, Asha 210, thinks that my earphones is a headphones, and it even show the symbol of a headphone without a headset attachment on the home page of the phone, but it still produces the sound similar to a headset. Without changing it, the earphones will produce sounds at a lower volume and without any bass.
In my opinion, there may be two possible causes to this. First, the phone thinks that the earphones is a headphone but it produces a headset-quality sound instead. The other, which is more reasonable, is that the earphone with headset capability is not compatible with the phone.
Of course, I have tried to search the button to change it but there is not any on the phone. The only way to solve it is to hold down the headset button on the earphones or tape it, but that would not do justice to the problem with the phone and its audio system.
Is it because that Asha 210 is not compatible with headsets? Or is there a button to change what the phone identifies the earphones as (from headset to headphones, despite saying that it already identifies it as headphones)?
Update: I rewrote my question again as it is very misleading. I did not delete this so that others will know what the answer may be. The other thing is that I think I may have thought that the enchancement option is available for the Asha 210; it turns out to be an option for the E63 model. As for the Asha 210, I am quite certain that there is no option to manually change in between function for headset or headphones on the phone. Thanks for reading.

    Welcome to Nokia Discussions, boxysnatch.
    First make a backup:
    1. Select Menu > Settings> Sync and backup.
    2. Select Create backup
    Next: Perform a hard reset:
Go to standby screen and enter *#7370#. Press ok. The process might take for about 5 minutes. The handset will restart after the procedure.
    Last: Restore a backup:
    1. Select Menu > Settings> Sync and backup.
    2. Select Restore backup.
If the above steps does not help, I advise using the Nokia Software Recovery Tool which can be downloaded through the page below.

  • Clock always visible, still conserving battery

Nokia N9 has a great feature of always displaying a digital clock when the proximity sensor senses enough space around the phone. More about it here: http://allaboutwindowsphone.com/features/item/17601_Symbians_little_feature_that _c.php
So it uses a slightly dimmed backlight mode, still producing an extremely visible digital clock without draining the battery. I use it every day before going somewhere when I'm in a hurry.
This kind of always on clock is not possible for iPhone? Even if sacrificing battery drain? If there is such clock app available, which one is it?

    Lawrence Finch wrote:
That's why I have a wall clock in the bathroom
I think it's a bad idea to have an iPhone (or any electronic device) nearby when in the shower.
I have a cheap battery operated clock in the bathroom. When it (inevitably) gets wet, I buy a new one.
Even if you did decide to use a clock app on your phone in the bathroom, unless you take excessively long showers, how much battery could you really use by leaving the phone awake?

  • Collection add() produces cache corruption

    Hi
I have an Application object with a serviceProviders collection, and a ServiceProvider object with an application reference. I have tried both direct and indirect lists.
When working with UOW clones of both objects, when I try to add the ServiceProvider object to the Application object's serviceProvider collection, and then call printRegisteredObjects() and validateCache() on the UOW, I get a cache corrupt message. Should this be normal?
    serviceProvider = new ServiceProvider();

  • LR - the showstoppers (for me)

Let me say from the outset that I really want to like LR and use it extensively because I like the library and - in general - I like the UI.
I have spent the last 3 days evaluating LR and comparing it to my current workflow which is DownloaderPro-Capture1-PhotoShop-QImage.
Despite the fact that there have been many improvements with v1.0 compared to B4.1, LR is still not the one-stop-shop for me for the following reasons.
    1) it can't match DLP for flexibility. At the moment, I put in my CF card and DLP automatically downloads the images to my folder structure, i.e. year/year_month/year_month_day/filename. LR still cannot do this. So I will have to continue using DLP.
    2) althought the RAW conversion produces good colours and detail, and the develop module has excellent functionality, it cannot replace C1 for 3 reasons. Firstly there is still no 'one key develop' that automatically sends the developed file to a subfolder of where the original image is stored, e.g. Develops. Secondly, LR cannot do batch processing, and lastly, the sharpening is still poor. It is not aggressive enough and still produces horrendous noise in comparison to C1 or PS. So, even though the LR RAW conversion is good, I would still have to use C1 for good workflow and PS for sharpening and other PP effects.
    3) The print module is fairly redundant as if I have had to come out of LR for the reasons above, then I might as well use the superb QImage for printing which has much more flexibility and a greater feature set than LR. Why LR - especially in the light of trying to be a complete package - does not have soft-proofing is a mystery to me!
On usability issues, I have found the sliders to be very unresponsive and constantly find myself having to slide them back as the initial adjustment was jerky and difficult to use accurately.
The preview situation is also poor. LR seems to constantly have to refresh previews and thumbnails.
Another annoyance is that there doesn't appear to be any 'hover' info available either on the filmstrip or the library thumbnails. How useful would it be to be able to hover over a thumbnail and get basic info like filename, date, f-stop, ISO, shutter speed, etc. As far as I can see, there is no way of seeing this in LR without clicking (selecting) the image concerned. Again, C1 shines here.
So, as I will not use the slideshow or web modules, I'm stuck with my existing workflow, but will use LR purely for organising my images, i.e. I will use the library module only.
I really had higher hopes of how I would use LR, but maybe future versions will improve and get the missing 'popular feature requests' implemented.

I posted in the external raw conversion about LR versus C1 in bw conversions. After reading imacken post perhaps I am simply setting the sharpness wrong. In my recent experience I found the LR files sharper than C1 but there were differences in the mottling of the background (8 bit files) My useage may be different. I mostly shoot fashion and on a given day I will shoot 500 to up to 1000 frames (if the story is slow to come and my brain just can't find the right thread). I will cut down to 100 frames, rough cut the story, then re-touch, burn -dodge-balance about 20 in PS. Imacken have you found more colour detail from c1 vs LR (please read the below post to see my comparison test)
I do so much post work, including sharpen, that PS is always my finisher. I only sharpen at the the end when I know the final image size required. I use the print function to generate contact sheets as i sometimes like to output thumbnails to help with my final edits and I send proofs to my crew by making quick web-sites with LR or PS.
My gripe with LR is speed. I am running a 2 Ghz imac and at times I get frustrated by the speed of LR processors and have been wondering about more ram or getting a faster mac . My Library is about 16,000 images at this point. Wondering what will happen when this doubles or triples.
I recently did a story where my final files were BW or very de-saturated colour files. I set the LR files up as I wanted them to be in the final look which was a very hi-contrast, say a 3 to 3.5 in paper terms then exported as psd's to re-touch. They ended up being soft and mottled in the greys. Same results from C1 though a touch sharper than LR. In the end though, the best results was to rip a neutral colour file out of LR then convert in PS. I use imaging factories convert to bw pro as I like the interface for my conversions.
I am still running the last Beta. Is there a way to do multiple setting on one image and keep all the variation up where I can see them? I sometimes rip a file twice for hi-lights then shadow detail. This last job i had to rip my contacts in BW then bring back to colour to rip to PS so as not to lose detail in the image.
I posted the four files here (un-re-touched or final balance)

  • A How To: Create a Widescreen High Definition Slide Show from the Organizer

[EDIT] I just tried another one and, weirdly, that produced an output with black bars around all four sides! So maybe this 'how to' is not 100%.  I have considered deleting the post altogether but, as it does still produce a superior slideshow quality file than the standard ones provided with Elements,  I've decided to leave it with this edit added at the top for additional info.[END_EDIT]
In answering a question in another forum I found a nice quick way to create proper widescreen high definition slide shows from just the Elements Organizer. Apologies if this is 'old news' to readers, but I've not seen this described elsewhere so I thought I'd share it.
The Organizer Slide Show creator, if not wanting to edit in PRE, provides a small set of Windows Media Player profiles to create .wmv files. But the best of these goes only to 1024x768 (a 4:3 monitor resolution setting). I've noticed, but never paid much attention to, that at the bottom of the Slide Size box there is a 'Browse for more' option that lets you search for additional Windows Media Encoder profiles. Investigation showed me that I can download the Windows Media Encoder software from Microsoft and create my own profiles. But even further investigation showed  me that someone had already done this! I've tested their full HD profile and it works just fine (1920x1080).
So if you are just after a straightforward slide show (i.e. not needing PRE features) but want it displayed on your Full HD TV set here is what you do:
Download the HD Profiles from http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/236895-hd-profiles-for-windows-movie-maker/. There's also a couple of useful SD sizes there as well. Save them somewhere you can easily find them.
Create your slide show in the Organizer. Obviously use appropriately sized images for HD. There's little point outputting an HD wmv file using low resolution and/or 4:3 aspect ratio images.
Save and Output your slide show.
In the output dialog ('Save As a File') scroll down to the bottom of Slide Size and select 'Browse for more ...'.
Browse to the file you downloaded in step 1 and click Open.
Click OK and your Widescreen HD .wmv file is prepared.
Here's a Gspot analysis of my test output file. As you can see it is an HD file with a 16:9, square pixel, aspect ratio.
    Ta Da!
    Cheers,
    Neale

You did not mention a specific Premiere Elements Elements Organizer combo for this, so for now I will address this from the version 11, not Windows Movie Maker, perspective if I need to get version specific.
    .prx
The Browse for More is a well known route and does offer at least one Adobe profile for 1280 x 720 16:9. I am not sure where you came up with the lesser resolution,1024 x 768 that you mentioned. The Windows Media profiles have existed for several versions of Elements Organizer. Those Adobe ones that you do not see under Output Save As A File Movie (.wmv), can be found in the Windows 7 or 8 64 bit path
    Local Disc C
    Profile Files (x86)
    Adobe
    Elements 11 Organizer
    Assets
    Locale
    en_US
    tv_profiles
in the tv_profiles Folder are included the .prx files
    .....10. 640 x 480 Enhanced Definitions
    .....12. 852 x 480 Widescreen Enhanced Definition
    .....14 1280 x 720 Widescreen High Definition
A homemade 1920 x 1080 16:9 30 frames per second .prx has long been sought but not that easily produced by many using with the Windows Media Encoder Editor. Apparently you have found one online, and it does get accepted into the Premiere Elements 11 Browse for More choices. And, if you do a gspot readout for the wmv output from Elements Organizer 11, it will display all the "right" properties that you hoped for and that are shown in your screenshot.
The bottom line, why bother with the wmv slideshow? If you take your original photos and size them for 1920 x 1080 16:9, use them in the Elements Organizer 11 Slideshow Editor (Crops used in preferences), use the Edit with Premiere Elements Editor command, what you get in Premiere Elements 11 is full and good in all regard. Have you tried it?
I can see your interest if this is HD going to HD (AVCHD on DVD or Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc, but I do not see this for an Elements Organizer Slideshow that is going to DVD-VIDEO widescreen.
    More later.

  • P2415Q - No display over DVI, HDMI. No menu. Worked perfectly for one month over display port

Reason Line: Dell P2415Q. After one month working perfectly over display port, no display on screen over Display Port or HDMI, no response to menu buttons, backlight and power LED on but no image on screen.
    Problem Description
The monitor worked out of the box for one month using the display port to mini display port cable provided with the monitor, which was plugged into my XFX 7970 and 7950 graphics cards. It supported 4K at 60Hz and was exceptional for photos, videos and games. On Wednesday the monitor stopped working, no image or menu is displayed on the monitor. I plugged in my old monitor to help diagnose via DVI from the same graphics card. When I press the power button on the Dell P2415Q monitor, the power LED lights up and the computer detects the monitor (as shown in the windows screen resolution menu). It sets it as a secondary display but the monitor remains black, I can see the power LED and backlight is on. No power saving mode popup appears on the monitor, when I press the menu buttons there is no response from the screen, it remains black. I repeated with a HDMI cable the same issue occurs with no response or image. I repeated and disabled crossfire (which allows the graphics cards to function independently) and tried the second graphics card with no response. I tested the HDMI cable I used on my old LG monitor, it works well. I have tried connecting a laptop over HDMI to the monitor too, with no response from the monitor. I have exhausted all the tests I can think of, I presume I will have to return the monitor for repair or replacement under warranty. A question to the dell rep and community - is there anything else I can try / do to get it working?
    Monitor / Computer Details
    Monitor service tag: <removed>
Computer: Non-Dell, self build about 2 years ago. Ivy Bridge i5, Gigabyte Sniper Motherboard, 16GB RAM, XFX 7970 GPU and XFGX 7950 GPU in crossfire, 256GB SSD, 860W Corsair AX power supply (860W on 12V rails). Windows 7, 64-bit. (Secondary Monitor LG D2342).
Operating System: Windows 7, 64 Bit.
Video Card: XFX 7970 and XFX 7950 in Crossfire (tested separately, monitor produces fault with both).
Video Card Driver: 14.12 AMD Catalyst Driver (rolled back to older driver, monitor still produces fault).
Video Card Output Ports: Tested with miniDP and HDMI on both cards, with crossfire enabled and disabled. Monitor still produces fault.
Video Card Cable: miniDP to DP cable provided with monitor. HDMI cable, tested with alternate monitor to confirm it functions correctly.
Monitor Menu Button: Non responsive, when power is turned on the computer successfully detects the Dell P2415Q monitor, the backlight turns on but no image appear on the screen. Pressing the menu buttons yields no result - menu does not appear on the screen. Power LED is on.
Monitor Purchase: Purchased from Overclockers.co.uk March 2015.

    * Turn the monitor off
    * Disconnect all cables from the monitor including the power cable
    * Press the monitor power button in for 15 seconds
    * Reconnect the monitor cables and re-test. If still no go, your only option is to get it exchanged per the purchased warranty
    * But first the service tag must be transferred into your name using this form

  • Slot-loading DV Display/HardDrive seize up

I am posting a conversation I have been having with a discussion board user, as I think it will be useful for others
On Fri, Feb 18, 2011 at 4:46 PM, <**@**.com> wrote:
    Hi Richard:
I've just been reading an exchange you had with someone named Graham in the UK about his iMac going black and becoming unresponsive. After a series of exchanges, you finished up (I think) with:
That can be a possibility. If it was the CPU temp that's causing this the entire logic board would have to have come loose or perhaps the conductive paste has dried out/failed, unlikely.
So upshot. In my experience the part that fails in these G3 iMacs is the PAV (The board you see when you look down from the top it's under the CRT and drives the monitor section. The logic board derives power from the PAV via down converter).
The shutting down is a classic symptom and the most irritating.
Others: No start - power light blinks or turns amber, video gets wonky - color shifts or size variations, sparks arcing sound, native screen is dark but external monitor works fine (not on option on your 350, no external spigot). This is why I've got 7 or so iMac G3s in my basement. Mostly 350s since I was given around 20 of them and I repaired and donated most into the inner city. The ones left have PAV problems.
    Wacky upgrade options:
I'm especially interested because here you mentioned the other main symptom I've noticed in my own version of the same problem: the "arcing sound" which I've been hearing almost from the start of my issues. Everything else almost mirrors his, except the time for the symptoms to kick in has reduced to less than 10 minutes.
I thought it might be the drive, so I've tried 2 different hd's, and it happens with both, and I tried running the iMac (400jhz slot loading) just off of CD, and it shut down then too!
Obviously, I've been inside the machine to replace the drives, with my teenage daughter's help (my eyes aren't so hot). I'm going to check for this OS X temperature software and see what it tells me. I did run a RAM checker, and it said it was all fine, so at least I know it's not that. I tried to get a version of Apple Hardware Checker for it (or whatever it's called) but it said the iMac DV would not run the software.
Do you still have those . . . PVA's? This machine is a perfect print server and backup hd and work stereo, and we have enjoyed tinkering with her in the past. If it wasn't TOO complex, I'd like to give it a try. I showed my daughter how to solder a battery cable onto a tester circuit board, so if that's the kind of thing we'd need to do, I'm game.
Let me know, and I'm looking for a temperature checker right now. Oh yea, and Tricia Helfer DOES look pretty hot.

    Hi Cary,
the other main symptom I've noticed in my own version of the same problem: the "arcing sound" which I've been hearing almost from the start of my issues.
That arcing sound is almost always the flyback transformer. That is on the PAV board which is basically the entire upper half of the computer. Here's a site in England where you can download the Service Manual for your machine.

So since you have a 400 MHz machine it's one of the more desirable machines since it has firewire. 400 to 700 had them. As I mentioned in my post I would pull the logic board and transfer it to a working 350. If you look in the manual swapping the board is simple. Then again around Chicago these G3 iMacs are sold for $25 or less. Don't know the situation where you are.
I used to repair these but they've become so cheap that the board swap is now my chosen path.

I guess this shhould've been on the discussion board so others could see it, but I'll just ask one more thing before looking into the manual:
Remember, I've swapped a harddrive and memory, but board changing is something I've never tried before:
So, are you saying that the PAv that might be creating these issues, being such a large part of the computer, should just be abandoned, and the logic board swapped into a 350 because of it's simplicity? Does the logic board contain the 400 mhz processor and firewire hookup, or would those be left behind on the 400 iMac's PAV board?
I'm looking at the manual, and you're right, pulling the logic board does look pretty simple, but I haven't found the answer to the above question yet, so I'll send it to you.
I emailed this to you because the original post a over a year old, and I wasn't sure you'd still be watching the discussion boards. Next time, I'll just 'trust to the boards', though I've only received 2/5 answers through it over the years.
    Thanks again.

    Carey,
So look at the pic I enclose. It's from the service manual.
So you've had the machine apart to this point, from here it's just the removal of the 10 screws to remove the logic board and down converter. They plug into the upper part via a couple of connectors. There could be a few plastic rivets that tie the board to the divider panel.
Does the logic board contain the 400 mhz processor and firewire hookup, or would those be left behind on the 400 iMac's PAV board?
That's all on the logic board.
Basically the iMac is a CRT display and speakers with a logic board underneath with the optical drive and the hard drive.
The board on top is called the PAV board ( power analog video) i. e. video power supply for a computer monitor. Power comes from that board and comes down to the "down converter" which changes it to logic board power, basically 12V and 5.5V DC. (These boards have been run "headless" but now not worth the trouble)
So your path from here will be determined by what kind of donor iMac you find. It must be a slot loader and the chances are it will be as fast or faster as your current machine.

    Hi Richard:
Well, despite your own circumstances with blueberries and strawberries falling from the computer sky, I've gone on 4 different user forums and several different 'used things for sale' websites, and so far the closest I can come to getting a used imac is having one shipped from the next province (about 500 miles) for about 50-60 bucks, or possibly one in the city which the poster said they wanted 200 bucks for. I've had no reply to my email to them, yet.
Would you be willing to sell me one of those PAV boards, if they're still kicking around? I would think the shipping would be much less than the whole darned computer.
If you don't still have them in piles around you, I may just have to turf the iMac entirely for budgetary reasons.
I guess with the much smaller population, the proliferation of iMacs is similarly reduced. There's only about 3 million people in Alberta, which is where I am.
    Let me know.
Greatly appreciate the information connections you've made for me.
    Cheers

    Hey Carey,
Well I was forced to leave all of my iMac G3 parts with a recycler in Chicago when I moved.
I actually found one here in Pocatello (town of 60K) for $25 so maybe you can find the same thing. I don't have a PAV board and they are very hard to swap out, don't think I ever did it.
So, thinking a bit more about your situation, since you're using it as a server, when it fails does it absolutely freeze up? On the 400 you can attach a VGA monitor to the spigot under the perferated oval grill under the bottom rear. The monitors can fail in these and still produce power to run the logic board. Around here you can get a cheap LCD 15" monitor for around $25. A CRT type you can probably get for free. So if you're lucky it can still work that way.
There were people who ran a logic board headless, but most of these are out of date:
    Here's a few:

a translation of the classic French mod:

Soo hopefully yours will fail and just the CRT will be involved.
    Here's hoping...

Perhaps one of your RAM modules has gone belly up. To test this, remove both RAM modules and start up. If the RAM is the cause of the problem, the computer will respond with a complaining chime, and of course go no further. But that will indicate the RAM is cause, and you can go to the next step; try to start up with just one of the RAM modules installed - either one. If that gets you nowhere, try the other one.
If the problem is not bad RAM, it is beyond my expertise to help. Sorry.

  • How to get more control over DVR recordings

Looking for some advice on how to make sure the DVR records (and keeps) the episodes I want.
    An example:
I want to record a series that is still producing new episodes, but is also in repeats in syndication.  For example, Big Bang Theory.  This has new episodes each week on CBS, but has about twenty or so repeats each day on TBS.
Due to the high number of repeats, any new episodes pretty quickly get overwritten by the repeats.  So is there a way to record both first-run and repeat episodes, but prevent the first-runs from getting overwritten before I can watch them?

I have no idea if the format has recently been changed or what the issue is, but when I try to get more control over my DVR recordings, I can't. What I mean by that is that I cannot alter "First-Run and Repeats" to "First-Run Only," I cannot specify the specific channel to record on, I cannot say how many episodes I want it to keep, etc. Here is a step-by-step guide of what I do and what the problem is:
I press the "menu" button on the remote. I scroll down to DVR. I select the option of "manage series recordings." I select one of my shows. I'll use "Masters of Sex" as my example. I select "Masters of Sex." It's at this point where I get a problem. When I select "Masters of Sex," the only option I get is to cancel the series. No option to only record first-runs. No option to keep only 3 episodes instead of 5. No option to change it so it saves until I manually record it. Nothing. I've tried not selecting "Masters of Sex" and instead using the right arrow button to scrol over to the settings of the show. But nothing happens when I do that. It doesn't give me access to these options. This is incredibly frustrating because not only do the shows delete automatically at a certain point, but it records EVERY SINGLE AIRING OF EVERY SINGLE SHOW I RECORD. This means I have to go through several times a day to the "Scheduled Recordings" section and delete scheduled recordings of shows I have already seen. It's absolutely ridiculous, particularly for cable shows, which air episodes frequently throughout the week. Please help me if you can.
Put simply, I cannot change the settings on how I record each show.
Try the Box's Menu/customer support/tops support tools/Fix Fios TV option. (exact working may be different on your box)
