Is XS Project right for Database Schema and tables

Hi Friends
1.As per OpenSAP video it is suggesting to use XS Project for Database objects.
In my case I am planning to do AO Reporting and not creating any UI , is XS project still the right project type.
There is an option for General ->Project - would that be the right one.
2. Also in my UI I am not able to see the Prefrences->SAP Hana Development ->Repository Access to set the regit.exe. I did see couple of post mentioned about it but the response was not very clear , hence asking the question again.

Poonam

Project is used to group all the required development artifacts and the libraries required for them. So based on your requirement you can choose. I think "General" project would suffice your requirement if it is only to create schemas and tables.
But on the other hand if you choose to build an application using XS related libraries you can either choose to import those libraries later or create using a XS project now.
Will wait along with you to see  Thomas Jung comments on this.

Firstly from SP7, it is not required to setup regi.exe file. This file resides in hdbclient folder. So you need to check where you have installed hdbclient to see if you have that regi.exe file and configure it accordingly in the Path ( Preferences --> SAP HANA Development --> Repository Access ) you mentioned.

  • New User Database schema and table name

When i create a new user in Oracle Webcenter Spaces 11g, I am not able to get the name of the database schema and table, where it is stored. Any insight on this will be very helpful.

WebCenter (and WebCenter spaces) uses an 'identity store' instead of database schema for storing user information - in an 'out of the box' installation, users are maintained through an embedded WebLogic LDAP store.
See the Oracle Fusion Middleware Administrator's Guide for Oracle WebCenter, p. 34-2.
At the end of section 34.4.1:
WebCenter Spaces supports self-registration. When new WebCenter users
self-register, they create their own login and password and a new user account is
created in the identity store. See also, Section 34.4, "Allowing Self-Registration".

You need a Database Designer and a Database Administrator.
    1. With experience of having done so earlier or having learned as an understudy to someone with expertise
    2. Look up the Oracle 11g database SQL documentation. See http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/homepage
    3. See the Oracle 11g database Administrator's Guide and Security Guide (from the above URL)
    4. Through a proper Change Control procedure. Each organisation has it's own methods of source code control and deployment.

  • How copy the same project with its database schema & deploy it on same PC?

    Hi,
Firstly, sorry about my forum handle. For some odd reason all the handles that I am trying to create are already in use.
Right, I am a new Application Express Developer and am managing my own Oracle Database Instance as well. I have managed to create a complete project and I have another client who requires the same project. What is the logic and steps that I can use in making a complete copy of the existing project and use it for my second client. The databse objects would be the same.
My initial thoughts are to create another database schema as a copy of the current database schema and then do an import/export of the existing project so that the new copy will work with the new schema? I am just talking on top of my head here. I am not a DBA and being new to Application Express administration does not help much either as well.
    Thanks for reading my message.

Virtual private database basically works by modifying your existing query.
So you have a table with your clients and a code for each client
So when client A logs in, he uses an application_context to set his code.
You have to write the procedure to set the context.
Now , what you need to do, is to modify your tables so that you can join to your client_code table based on client_code.
So when client A runs his code, he only sees his own data. When Client B runs he only sees his Data.
But you , if you run as sysdba can see both sets of data.
Check out http://asktom.oracle.com and the oracle docs. Oracle expert one on one has a good section on this two (by tom kyte too)
You really want to satisfy yourself that this is the solution you want. Do the queries run slower. Well, it depends on how well you implement fgac. If implemented well, it will be marginally slower but you will have far less maintenance than an alternative implementation. The big advantage is adding additional clients has virtually no extra workload for you.
I think you may need to use database account authentication for this to work with Apex. I'm really not sure.
I suggest you read up on this, and maybe try and set up a 3 table demo app with it. That way you can see whether or not its for you.

  • Difference Between Database Schema and Database User Account ??

First i would like to know what an Oracle Database schema exactly is ?
And what is it for and also What is it's use ?
Later the exact "Difference Between Database Schema and Database User Account".
I googled about it but i'm unable to find out it's The difference,
Please try to explain in a simple manner........
Thank you very Much in Advance..........

Greate example. but i would like add one more point..
a user is a schema and schema is a user. but when this applies to the user that he become a schema, only if he has got some objects. so we can say while creating the user which dosent contain any objects called simple user account but afterwords when he has got an objects then we can say its a schema as the above user has shown you through the exampleIt is just word-play. There is nothing in like a 'status' indicator to say "USER_A is just a user but USER_B has become a schema". Many people use the terms "user" and "schema" interchangeably, and some very good DBAs will insist this is correct. I don't disagree with them even though I usually try to make the distinction.
In a typical application, all of the objects (tables, procedures, etc) that implement the app will be owned by a "application schema owner" - a user which exists for the sole purpose of owning the schema. Said user will have no privileges at all .. especially not CREATE SESSION. Except for possible maintenance activity no one ever actually connects as this user. User accounts are then given to actual humans who connect with their own accounts. The accounts have the necessary system and object privileges granted to them - via a role. One could also create a special account (let's call it APP_ADMIN) that is used for maintenance and batch operations within the application.

    Hi,
can someone advise me some good book or even better a PDF or a white paper on the Web where it's explained well how to design and manage a relational database (that is normal forms, tuning, design, implemantation...)?
I've been working on Oracle databases for a few years as pl sql programmer, but I'd like to read something describing well the relational database theory, because I've been asked to work as database designer. There are many books available in the market, please go through this link -- http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/books/549646/ref=pd_ts_b_nav
I've been told to read "Fundamentals of Database Systems" by Ramez Elmasri, but I ask here for some more advices.I would strongly recommend reading this book, it was my best reference during my college study and even after starting my DBA career.

  • JDBC Schema and Table Names Reversed

    Hi,
We're currently evaluating CR4E but are unable to successfully run/preview any reports.
We have successfully created a JDBC  connection using the generic JDBC driver. We are connecting to an Ingres database. The connection is successful and we can browse databases/schemas/tables with no problem. The problem is with the SQL that the reporting engine is generating.
    A simple example:
    SELECT "currency"."description" FROM   "currency"."john" "currency"
In this statement, "currency" is actually the table and "john" is the schema name.
    The query should read:
    SELECT "currency"."description" FROM   "john"."currency" "currency"
Help would be appreciated as we're completely stuck.
    Many thanks,
    Darran Smith

    Hi Tej,
Thanks for clarifying the issue on the JRC.
    Executing:
    SELECT "price_type"."currency", "price_type"."description" FROM   "price_type"."john" "price_type"
against the DB results in "Table 'john' does not exist or is not owned by you" as expected.
    Executing
    SELECT "price_type"."currency", "price_type"."description" FROM   "john"."price_type" "price_type"
against the DB works just fine.
I amended my code to simply call:
    CRJavaHelper.changeDataSource(reportClientDocument, userName, password, connectString, driverName, JNDIName);
and changed the CRJavaHelper.java file around line 145 that originally reads:
    newTable.setQualifiedName (origTable.getAlias ());
I tried setting the qualified name to various different things:
    "price_type"
    "john.price_type"
    "otherSchema.price_type"
None of these worked, but they did produce different things in the JDBC trace log. I've uploaded the JDBC log file to showing what happens with either "price_type" or "john.price_type":
As you can see, everything looks OK (including the schema and table name) until the very final select statement is created.
When you say that generic JDBC is supported, is that what I'm effectively using?
    Cheers,
    Darran

  • Difference between Database view and Table

    Hi there,
Can anyone tell me the difference between Database view and Table.
Will the Database view query be more faster than a database table?

Tables and database views can be defined in the ABAP Dictionary.
These objects are created in the underlying database with this definition. Changes in the definition of a table or database view are also automatically made in the database.
Data from several tables can be combined in a meaningful way using a view (join).
You can also hide information that is of no interest to you (projection) or only display
those data records that satisfy certain conditions (selection).
Database views implement an inner join. You only get those records which have an
entry in all the tables included in the view.
in views db modifications are not possible
views only contain data at run time
    when they consult the database
in case of views the join definitions are already sstored in the database itself
whereas join as open sql is a query to oracle  database as similar select statements
Views are optimized by SAP and stored in the repository while Joins
are in reports that needs to be compiled at every execution
    Reward if helps

Q1)That means even if i return predefined types like integer, varchar2 then also PGA is used ?The data type does not determine where the variable is stored. A string (called a varchar2 in Oracle) can be stored in stack space, heap space, on disk, in a memory mapped file, in a shared memory, in an atom table, etc.
It is the who and what is defining and using that string, that determines where and how it is stored.
The Oracle sever supports 2 languages in PL/SQL. The PL (Programming Logic) language is a procedural/declarative language. It is NOT SQL. SQL is integrated with it. The PL/SQL engine uses private process memory (PGA). So PL/SQL variables exist in the PGA (but there are exceptions such as LOBs).
Q2) So please suggest me solution in oracle.Sounds to me you are looking at how to implement a T-SQL style function as an Oracle function, and once implemented, do joins on the function.
Do not use PL/SQL in SQL in place of a SQL select. It is not T-SQL.
One cannot use PL/SQL to create functions along the style of T-SQL, where the function executes a SQL using some conditional logic, and then return as if the function was a native SQL select.
T-SQL is an extension to the SQL language - making it a hybrid and very impure language implementation. PL is based on ADA - part of the Pascal family of languages. The E-SQL (embedded SQL) approach used in languages like C/C++, Cobol and Ada, has been transparently done in PL/SQL. You can write and mix PL code and variables with SQL code. And the PL/SQL engine figures out how to make the call from the PL/SQL engine to the SQL engine.
But PL/SQL is not "part" of the SQL language and does not "extend" the SQL language in a T-SQL fashion.
So you need to check your SQL-Server preconcepts in at the door, as they are not only irrelevant in Oracle, they are WRONG in Oracle.
The correct way in Oracle, in a nutshell - Use the SQL language to do data processing. Use PL/SQL to manage conditional process flow and the handling of errors.

  • Synchronization of database schema and EJB3 / JPA objects

    Hi,
I am evaluating JDeveloper 11g. My goal is to create applications using JPA / EJB3 , ADF in rapid manner. I am stuck on really simple thing. I created my first web application (address book) where User has only 2 fields First and Last names. Now I would like to add an address field in to database (offline and online) and also to my EJB3 bean User. I can only do it manually by doing the same action on the database and ORM level. I consider it pretty serious hurtle for medium+ site projects.
So my question is if there is any way to automate the process of modifying database structure or EJB3 beans to make both in sync (database and beans).
If there is no such function I suggest that it makes sense to implement it.
    -- Sergei Rogovskiy

    Sergei,
I filed an enhancement request for this, not knowing how difficult this will be to implement
Note that JDeveloper 11 has its own forum: JDeveloper and OC4J 11g Technology Preview

I have uploaded detail.txt at below url.

    Hi Mahesh,
According to log file, I find the message ‘The setup100.exe.config file was not found, therefore the DTSWizard and SQLWatson app config files were not replaced’. It seems that the SQL Server setup file is not complete. Please check that if the SQL Server
setup file is corrupted, if it is corrupted, please download it again and reinstall SQL Server 2008 R2.
However, if there’s no problem with the setup file, please check that if there is third-party software such as anti-virus software on your computer blocking the process of SQL Server installation. In addition, make sure that you choose ‘Run as administrator’
to launch the setup and configure SQL Server service accounts appropriately with administrator permission during the installation.
For more details about this error, please review the following similar thread.

  • BAPI for Sampling scheme and Quality Info Record in QM Module.

    Hi techies,
I have a two object(Sampling Scheme,Quality info record)  for which i need a BAPI for uploading the data.
Please tell me if any one knows.
    Richard.

    Vineeth,
Usually, I wouldn't think the follow-up action would be an issue with system performance.  You say 7000 items, but do you mean 7000 UD's?  I.e. an inspection lot of 1000 units isn't unusual and that would be 7 inspection lots.  You've also now said that the program needs to look across plants for UD rejections and for notifications.  That is another level of complexity.
While the UD follow-up action should still be able to handle that, I can't say it won't affect performance.  I was going to suggest you have it only run on certain UD codes, but since you now need to reveiw this across plants that might not work.
What happens if my vendor/material is in a skip stage at plant A and Plant B opens a notification agains the vendor?  Since there is no UD, the follow-up action wouldn't run and change the DMR at plant A.
If you need to look at a bunch of stuff, instead of the follow-up action, you may need to run a program in batch and have it run once an hour or every 10 minutes.  Depending on how you write it, it could be pretty efficient.
