Is yahoo push working?

Is the yahoo push service having problems? Ive not been getting email reliably pushed to my phone for the past few days. Ive tried resetting about 6 times as well as deleting the yahoo account. Nevertheless - only getting email when i go in to the mail app, no auto notification.
Works fine with MobileMe.
Anyone else seeing this issue?

I've been noticing the problem for a week or two actually. I don't know what is causing it. I've tried the same things you've mentioned but it seems to work intermittently. I'm still looking for a solution. If you find anything please post it.

I dont have a data plan with my iphone 3g. I have updated the version to 3.0. I have enabled Push in the settings. I only have WIFI on. My questions are,
1. I have a yahoo mail account setup now after upgrade. But any notifications are not recieved. Only when I open my email account does it download the new email. Is it because The wifi automatically switches off once the phone is not in use. Because when ever i enter the passcode and unlock only after a few seconds do I see the wifi signal.
2. Will push work properly only if I have a dataplan because the internet would be available throughout?

Just out of curiosity, what wireless security are you running?
The reason I ask is that with wireless N routers (both, your old WRT350N and the new E4200 are wireless N), the only way to get the maximum possible wireless speeds of 300Mbps (450Mbps on the 5Ghz frequency with the E4200) is when you have the security mode set to WPA2-AES.
It's part of the wireless N standard, so if your network is using any other type of security apart from WPA2-AES, it doesn't comply to the wireless N standard and hence will not see speeds of more than 54Mbps.
Also, the other wireless devices in your network, do they have wireless N adapters? The Atrix is wireless N compliant. The reason I ask this is that if any one of the other devices in your network are not wireless N compliant, they would end up slowing down your network too. Something else to think about.
Please try setting your network to WPA2-AES security and do post back with the results. Hope this helps!

How to Get Yahoo Push Mail to Work on the iPhone- Finally

I post this for the benefit of all of you struggling with this same problem and how to resolve it.
I talked to AppleCare this morning and this is what they said that Yahoo push start working- the first thing that has after spending several solid useless days trying every other recommendation on various forums, none of which worked. Here is what they said to do:
1. Restore completely, without having the backup restore onto the iPhone.
2. Delete all of your email accounts on the iphone (I did this first before doing #1 to see if the remainder would work without a restore, but it did not, but when I went back and did #1 first it worked).
3. Re-enter all of your e mail accounts, beginning with the non-yahoo accounts first- very important. Be sure to set up at this time whether you want them manually to check or every 15 minutes for mail, etc., BEFORE you set up or enter the Yahoo account.
4. Then, after the above, enter the Yahoo account.
The support guy told me that for some reason changing how often the send receive occurs (manually, etc.) AFTER first setting up the yahoo account somehow overwrites information for the yahoo account and keeps the push from working. He said he had solved the push for a number of people following the procedure, and I agree, it did work.
Whether it will keep working I am skeptical! Also, I meant to ask, but did not: Does this mean that if I now ever change how often the iPhone checks for mail will it now overwrite the yahoo information and cause the push to stop working again, meaning I have to do the above steps again.
Finally, the push is not instantaneous, but is in about 2 minutes or so, at least from what I have seen- a lot better than every 15 minutes.

Is Yahoo Push email working consistently for anyone?

There are several threads about people having problems with Yahoo Push email. Many solutions have been offered, but posts seem to indicate done of them work consistentl and over time. I am wondering if this is just an isolated problem some people (including myself) are having, or if it is really widespread and not working for all or most people, but a lot of folks just don't care. People who have reported this to Apple and/or Yahoo seem to be told this is not a known problem.
So, if you do have Yahoo Push email working consistently could you give a brief reply to let the rest of us know it is something unique to our setup, use, or account.

Call iPhone tech support, and ask them to log a case for you. Be warned, however, that this doesn't seem to help... but let us know if Apple are able to provide an update that's worthwhile. Last time I called I was put through to a product specialist who -seemed- really interested in the issue, asked me to try some things (none of which helped, and all of which have been tried here by others) and call them back with results. Tried them, called back two or three times and left a message with the results, never heard back from them...
On previous calls I'd been told it was probably a Yahoo problem and to call them... Yahoo pointed me back to Apple. A common result from what I read here.

Does yahoo push not work for bulk mail folder?

I don't seem to be having any problems with yahoo push in my Inbox, but it doesn't seem to be working for my bulk mail. I have to actually go into my bulk mail folder for it to update. Is this normal? Thanks!

That is normal activity. Works the exact same way on tests phones we have set up. Bulk/junk mail is not something that all would like getting pushed through.

Yahoo push mail is not working

After 2.0 upgrade, Yahoo push mail has stopped working. In settings "Fetch New Data" is set to "Push". But I don't get any news emails from Yahoo pushed to my iPhone. I have tried delete and reconfigure Yahoo mail, and also resetting the phone but still couldn't get push email to work.
I've set a 25 message limit - I see 25 mails in my inbox but I also see 3 phantom messages the end. These 3 phantom messages show up with only the ">" sign with no sender or subject and I can't read them.
Has anyone seen anything similar and have suggestions to resolve this? Thanks!

I've had my iPhone for about a week now, one of the first to get it the Australian release. My yahoo mail was coming across fine for the first day or so but then it stopped. I removed the email account from the phone and re-added it. It hasn't even been able to grab my folders let alone my email. It just animates the little spinner and says "checking for mail..." forever.
I just saw on another web site, somebody claimed if you removed the email account, went to yahoo and changed your password to something without special character, only letters and numbers, then re-add it that it would work. This based on the some story that the iPhone has trouble sending those characters. As my email was working at one point and since my password only has letters and numbers in the first place, I doubt this is what is going on. I have 2 Yahoo mail accounts on my phone and neither is getting push mail notifications today. Push works for other apps, but not Yahoo.

Can I change the smtp server with Yahoo push account?

My yahoo email account will send and receive over EDGE using the default yahoo mail settings. On my home Cox internet WiFi network I can retrieve messages but cannot send. When sending it says it was sent and makes the "swooshing" mail sent sound, but the message disappears. It does not appear in the "sent" folder or "drafts" folder either. No error message is returned.
I suspect this is related to Cox blocking the smtp server, but the iPhone does not allow me to change the smtp settings on the default yahoo account. Does anyone know how to do this? I can set it up manually for POP access, but then I'm flooded with spam.

No, you cannot change the SMTP server on the Yahoo push account.
Yahoo push only works if you configure your account using the Yahoo! Mail shortcut on the iPhone, and that shortcut does not allow for ANY customization.

Reliability and Speed of Yahoo Push Email

Is anyone else finding Yahoo "push" email to be unreliable?
I find when it works, it works well, and I get emails that I send from a home email server in less than 1 minute. However sometimes it seems to fail completely or take a very long time. By fail I mean that the push fails, I can still pick up the email with a manual email poll.
I have ""Auto-Check" set to manual. So the only email that should work without a manual poll.
I'd be interested to hear the experiences of others?

I was unable to get Yahoo to recognize a different Reply-to: address, even when that was set up using the Yahoo web interface. That, plus the fact that it adds an ad at the bottom of each email made it a non-starter for me.
After a bit of a struggle, I was able to get Gmail set up and working just fine. Yes, you don't get the push mail, but hopefully they will add push IMAP at some point and all these problems will be moot.

More Yahoo Push Issues???

Is anyone else having issues with Yahoo pushing again? Mine has not worked for the past two days. And I've tried the usual... delete account and add it again, fresh restore, etc... still does not work. Am I alone?

Simply shut push off and then exit out of the mail options, then go back in to them and you will see a new setting for how often you want to check for new mail. It is better than not checking at all. I did get a email back from Yahoo tonight:

Reply to address on yahoo not working

I have some of my work email forwarded to a yahoo account that are pushed to my iphone. I set up the "repliy to" email option to be my work email so when i reply from my iphone it will seem that I am replying from the work email. But it is not working, it is still attaching the yahoo email address. Is this because the reply is coming from the iphone and not the actual yahoo email account itself?

Yes, you do. Sorry.
The Yahoo push email ONLY works if you use the Yahoo shortcut in creating the account. And the Yahoo shortcut ONLY lets you use a @yahoo.com address.

is there definitely a plan for apple to fix the yahoo push problem? mine works infrequently but does work sometimes. most of the time i need to retrieve the email. this was the reason i switched to yahoo email.

Push is an IMAP account protocol - check the following:

And the responsibility for implementing/providing this protocol is with an email account provider.
The service that RIM providers for Blackberry customers is unique. Apple may choose to provide the Push protocol for .Mac accounts but I think it is unlikely that Apple will develop and provide the same as RIM does for Blackberry customers.
I access an IMAP account (.Mac) and a POP account with my iPhone. I have no problems whatsoever with having my email accounts automatically checked for new messages every 15 or 30 minutes and if need be, I can manually check for new messages available.

No yahoo push email

With iPad, there appears to be no way to set up push email for Yahoo. My iPhone does it no prob, but there is not even an option for Yahoo push, only fetch and manual. Any ideas?

Am a new user - iPad3. As my Apple ID I used my Yahoo!Mail address and but used adifferent password to that which I use on Yahoo. In my icloud email account Account shows as my Yahoo mail address but neither my Apple password nor my Yahoo pasword work.
