Is your iphone 5 slow?

I went to the Apple store because my new iphone 5 was super slow and I couldn't connect to internet. The did the following. ##update#send on the keypad. AND/OR go into settings - General - Reset - Reset Network Settings. I did the Reset 2 times and then it worked.

This is really disheartening to hear. I just moved to LA from Connecticut and I have AT&T. It wasn't amazing service in CT but it's REALLY bad here in LA. I'm having the same issues with AT&T you just described (I have the iPhone 5 on AT&T).
I kept hearing from people I work with that Verizon is the carrier to have out here so I actually ordered an iPhone 5 with Verizon that I'm so anxious to get. I'll be ticked if the speeds I get are what you're describing - I would stick with AT&T if that were the case. I'll have to update once i get my VZW iPhone (was just charged Friday so hopefully soon!)

Does 'find your iPhone' use a lot of internet? My mobile data is running out ridiculously fast and I need it to slow down! Anyone has suggestions / info?

You should shut down all the apps running in the background and then reset your phone.  Double tap the home button to open the multitasking drawer (iOS 6.X) or the multitasking screen (iOS 7.X)  if you are on iOS 6.X press and hold one of the app icons and wait for the icon's to start to jiggle, just like when you want to delete an app.  Tap the little x that appears in the upper corner of the icons.  Repeat until all the icons are gone.
If you are on iOS 7.X once the multitasking screen is open swipe up on all the app images until they are all closed.  Tap on the home screen to close.
Then press and hold both the Home and Sleep buttons at the same time and wait for the Apple logo to appear then release both buttons.  The phone will restart itself.
If this doesn't help try doing a Reset All Settings reset, you will not lose any data or content or media.  But you will have to reset any setting you turned on or off in Settings.  This will reset all settings back to factory default.  Settings => General => Reset => Reset All Settings.

  • How do you increase the speed of your iPhone 4?

Sometimes when switched from page to page on the home screen is delayed. Also, typing is delayed at certain times.

Your iPhone must has a lot of junk file. I tried a tool for this problem--Macgo iPhone Cleaner. It is helpful as their description--an excellent iOS cleaner tool to free up storage space for more fun securely. Whenever you found your iPhone running slow or running out of space, you can ask help from it. If you want to have a try.Search "Macgo iPhone Cleaner" at softonic site's check box.It has versions for MAC OS and Win OS.

  • Why is that you have to use wifi to acces itunes on your iphone??

why do you have to be around a wifi spot to access itunes store from your iphone when we all have "edge".????

The iTunes store is very feature/data rich. Edge would be suicidally slow loading it, previewing tracks, and downloading them. So Apple probably made it WiFi only to avoid the 'Edge is SOOO slow! iTunes store takes forever!' complaints.

  • Does resetting harm your iphone?

Hey! I've experienced a few bugs, nothing too serious, and was wondering if resetting (holding home/lock buttons until it shut downs and starts up again) can harm your Iphone in ANY way possible - Slow it down, bug something, you know, cause if not, i'd just try it to see if it helps bugs and battery life.
Thereby i would like to know what "good battery life" is (in usage and standby hours).
Think im experiencing som bad battery life here, or its just me.
I've got 5 hours of usage and
1 day, 3 hours of standby
And it just went down to 19 % battery.
    Feedback please! Thanks!

"nd was wondering if resetting (holding home/lock buttons until it shut downs and starts up again) can harm your Iphone in ANY way possible -"
    No.

  • Is it just me,or is the your Iphone working much better over the past day?

Is it just me,or is the your Iphone working much better over the past 24 hr. For the past 3 weeks it's been very slow in getting my email (can take up to 5 hrs) or accessing the internet. Over the past 24 hrs in New York City both email and internet have been fast as lightening. Is anyone else seeing improved service in the past 24 hrs? There hasn't been an update. Why is it all of a sudden working so well?

I get better 3G signal after the last update and in some areas where I used to get 1 or 2 bars maximum, now I get 3 and it is not dropping like before.

  • IPhone slow after OS 4.1 upgrade

    Hi
after upgrading to iOS4.1 my Iphone 3G has become considerably slow compares to how it was with 3.1 and i was wandering how i can solve the problem.
    tried a restore but nope.
slowest application seems to be the calendar which is the one i use the most
it is quite annoying as it takes time to respond when i type something in and take some xtra time to load any app.
anyone having same issue? any help? thanx.

Hey there, I own an iPhone 3G with iOS 4.1 as well, and it runs alot smoother than the 3.1.2 that i was running before. The only advice i can offer you is to go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content And Settings. (I advise you sync your iPhone first.) it will take about an hour and it is a master reset so you'll have to re-sync it and reinstall everything back the way you had it. Let me know if it helped!! And if there is anything else i can help you with.
    Thanks, SCSmith443

  • Stuck on "Set Up Your Iphone" screen in iTunes

Hi. My OG iPhone wasn't pushing/fetching my email information after I updated my firmware. Help desk suggested I restore. I synced/backed up before the restore. When the iPhone restarted, I restored from the just-made backup and waited for the final restart of the phone. The phone restarted just fine - and the restore was successful - but now I can't get past/rid of the "Set up your iphone" screen. The only button/option is to pick a backup and continue to another restore. I've restored three times now and really just want to know how to get past this point. Thanks in advance.

I just went through this process on the 3G and it works.
I originally ran into this issue after the 2.0.2 update botched my phone and wouldn't reboot, and I had to restore it. So after I restore it, then I hit this bug.
Apple really screwed up the 2.0.2 update. This whole restore process is so egregiously slow - took me 2 HOURS to restore 4 GB of data! But I got all my data back (except for the music, which I still don't understand).
For anyone considering the 2.0.2 update, don't do it. Wait until Apple figures out how to release an update without bugs for once.

  • Error (1604) Your iPhone 2.0 is not Dead!!! Here is the solution:

Like many of you i thought my iPhone was dead, I had tried everything but nothing worked. All i was getting was Error 1604.
With no hope I did the following:
(you will need: iPhone Firmware 1.0.2 / iTunes 7.6.2 / A bit of patience )
1- Completely uninstall Your current iTunes (Save "iTunes Library" in a safe place; it will make it easier to recover everything once you re-update)
To uninstall iTunes there are cool apps such as "AppZapper"
2- Move the /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework folder to the Trash - empty trash
    3- Restart your computer
    4- Install iTunes 7.6.2
5- Put your iPhone in DFU mode (NOT in recovery Mode!!!)
6- Connect your iPhone to your computer, Launch iTunes (iTunes will Warn you that it found an iPhone in Recovery Mode - Click OK) Then press OPTION while clicking Restore and navigate to the firmware 1.0.2 that you have previously downloaded (Note: if you are an early iPhone user it might be already in your computer just go to User/Library/Itunes/iPhone Software Updates)
7- Now your iPhone should be restoring. Let it finish...
Once your iPhone restarts you can either keep it that way (but i doubt so, since this firmware comes straight from the stone age or otherwise try once more to update it to 2.0
8- Update iTunes using software update, (put it in recovery mode) then click restore in itunes if you are a legit iphone user, < Edited by Host >
    Voila - Hope it helps
    Jay

People who have still not solved error 1604 and had a bricked iPhone no matter what they tried, might manage to revive it by following these instructions (on how to downgrade from 2.0 to 1.1.4).
    You will need the following:
    - iTunes 7.5 (NOT 7.7)
    - iPhone firmware iPhone1,11.1.4_4A102Restore.ipsw
    Step 1:
Uninstall iTunes 7.7 completely if you have it and restart your computer.
    Step 2:
    Install iTunes 7.5
    Step 3:
Your iPhone should be in 2 states, either stuck on the "Slide to make emergency calls" screen, or you tried to restore before and it's stuck on the new look "connect to iTunes" screen. Either way you're ok.
Enter the phone in DFU mode (You must have the iPhone connected to the computer and iTunes running). To do this, hold the power & the home button down for about 9 seconds.
Why 9s? Well people say 10s, but it depends how slow you are at counting. Too short and it doesn't work, too long and the apple logo appears.
When you hit about 6-7s the screen should turn off, leave it for 2 more seconds and release the power button, STILL holding the home button. If all went well, you should NOT see an apple logo, the screen should be dead.
Keep holding home until windows/Mac informs you that it's found new hardware, OR iTunes tells you that your iPhone is in recovery mode. Remember, screen should be blank.
If you see an apple logo, repeat the process for less time until you get it right. Took me a little time.
    Step 4:
Shift/Option click the restore button in iTunes and select the iPhone1,1_1.1.4 firmware you downloaded.
Fingers crossed it should restore back to 1.1.4.

  • TS3697 I am receiving an error message(iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPhone "Peter's iPhone". Do you want to keep or remove photos previously synced to your iPhone") I am trying to download pics from my computer to my iPhone. Any ideas? Peter

When I went to download some pics (originally taken with my iphone 4S) from my computer back to my iPhone I got the following error message: "iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPhone "Peter's iPhone". Do you want to keep or remove photos previosly synced to your iPhone?"
Coincidentally, my wife just purchased an iPhone 4S and syncs to iTunes on the same computer.
    Any ideas?
    Peter

The "best" way to handle it, if you want to keep everything separate, is to create separate user accounts on the computer. make sure you log into your account on the computer before you attempt to sync your phone and log out when you're done using the computer.
Though it's possible to sync both of them to the same iTunes library, and even share an account for the iTunes store, you're inviting confusion and possible data loss (as you've discovered already). Best to just use separate user accounts on the computer. That also gives you the benefit of not polluting the other persons browser favorites, contacts, etc.
