Isa Proxy Server 2004 replacement for Windows Server 2012 Essential R2

Good evening everyone. I am searching for a replacement for our proxy/firewall server which is ISA Server 2004. At present, we have Windows Server 2003 Premium and ISA Server 2004. As we know already, these two already expires their life cycle as per Microsoft. So, can you please help me to find a solution for this? WS 2003 Premium will be replaced by Windows Server 2012 R2 Essential.
Thank you very much.

  • "Setting up ISA Proxy Server" White Paper

    Hello
I'd like to receive this white paper "Setting up ISA Proxy Server" as mentionned in "SAP_BPC_70_SP03_M_Install.pdf" guide.
Can someone send it to me ?
    Thanks

You can find the Microsoft ISA Server whitepapers here:

  • Update fails behind a MS ISA proxy server

We have all our clients behind a MS ISA proxy server. When
Flash player tries to update itself, or when you try to install it
from the download site, a network connection for the update times
out over and over. The only way to get around this has been to set
the configuration on the ISA server so that the workstation is
allowed to use anonymous authentication through the ISA server.
This is a royal pain in the neck and not something I can leave
configured for 60+ users. Anyone know of a fix or work around for
this? Even downloading the installer through a browser other than
IE and installing it doesn't seem to install the whole player.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hum,
I've got the same problem with any kind of proxies.
And this is not news. Every other apple apps use the proxy config, but not mail since Tiger.
    Why?
There is an ugly method by using some proxifier to open outgoing ssh tunnel, but, as i said, that's ugly and this solution needs to have an access to SSH server.

  • Upgrading Windows Server 2012 Essential Eval to Windows Server 2012 R2 Retail

I need to upgrade from Windows Server 2012 Essential Eval version to Windows Server 2012 R2 Retail.  What would be the easiest way to upgrade if license $$ is not an issue? The Server is a DC.  Would the following works:
    1. Upgrade from Windows Server 2012 Essential Eval to Windows Server 2012 Essential Retail
    2. Do a conversion from Windows Server 2012 Essential Retail to Windows Server 2012 Standard Retail (I suppose this just require several command line to enable the 2012 Standard)
    3. Do an in-place upgrade from Windows Server 2012 Standard to Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (there is no need to do migration, am I right?)
    Thanks.

I just did a simulation using Hyper V.  It seems that I'm able to do the upgrade sequence as described but I'm not sure whether there are any side effect that not yet surface out.  Here is the details steps that I took:
    1. Under Windows Server 2012 Essential Eval
convert the Windows Server Essential 2012 Eval to Windows Server Standard 2012 using the following command in an elevated command prompot
    dism /online /set-edition:ServerStandard /productkey:xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx /accepteula
press "y" and return to restart as prompted
the productkey could be retail key or the KMS client keys (just for installation not for activiation)
    2. After reboot, the system become Windows Server 2012 Standard
    using admin account to login
add admin account to the Enterprise Admins group and Schema Admins group if not already done so, logout and login again
mount the Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard disk in, say, drive d:
in an elevated command prompt, go the following:
    cd d:\support\adprep
    .\adprep.exe /forestprep
    .\adprep.exe /domainprep
double click on d: in explore to run the Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard setup
follow the instruction to complete the in-place upgrade from Windos Server 2012 to Windows Server 2012 R2
    3. After reboot into Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard, go to the charms bar, select setting -> server info, it will mention the server is not activated, click on Activate Windows and key in the Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard retail key

  • Windows server 2012 Essential vs Foundation

Hi, i am debating if i should obtain win server 12 Essential vs Foundation licencing.  Only at most two users will be using this server, and it is critical for me to have remote desktop access to this server.  Based on the wiki summary across
the different editions, it said Win Server 2012 Essential only offer "Gateway Only" for Remote desktop Services, what does "gateway only" here mean?  Whereas the Foundation edition, it allows 50 remote desktop connections.
Given i don't have many users using this server, and mainly using remote access to control this server, what server licensing would fit best?
    Tks.

It depends if you mean Remote Desktop for Application usage, or Remote Desktop for Administration.

  • Wich Caching Proxy would be suiteable for Windows 7 Professional Server

    I got the following setup:
3 Computer Rooms for Trainign Purposes.
18 PC per room, one of them a Server. All but the Server are protected by Steady State Software (DeepFreeze), with them getting thawed every 1-3 months for Windows and software updates. The only thing allowed to auto-update is the Virus scanner (MS Security
    Essentials).
The Server and all Computers are "only" Windows 7 Professional (no real server OS among them).
I managed to minimise the Internet Load for updates by orgianising Offline installers for the software that had them.
But Windows Updates and some of the Adobe Photoshop Updates don't want to be easily accesible offline.
The only thing I can effectively do for those would be a Cachign Proxy. Aside from MSE definitions (multiple updates per day possible), most of the files will be only updated every month or so.
It also does not need to cache normal Internet Traffic, only large files like updates. Maybe only towards very specific servers (like the MS and Adobe update servers).
What options for a caching Proxy server do I have in this scenario?

    As I understand it:
If the programm uses the WinINET settings at all (not many do nowadays), the settings is per user. But you can force a system wide value via registery entry.
I asume windows update will use that setting (I read often about having to change odd users proxy settings before). The WU Service runs under the "Local System" Account in a non-interactive session.
So either changing the proxy settings of Local System or setting the OS to use a global setting should redirect it. So it is possible to redirect the Updater (even background downloaders) to use a proxy server.
I would still need a proxy server I can run on a mere Win 7 Pro. Ideally one I can tell to only cache for specific domains/ip adresses* (the one of the Update servers for Adobe and Windows, for example).
And google will result in me hitting links taking about Proxies run by other people before it will ever give me a list of availible server softwares and thier pro/con's.
*I can get those IP adresses/domains either via wireshark or the resource monitor of Windows. So finding out where the data comes from is the least of my worries.
In the meantime I looked into wsus offline updater. While it cannot cover the regular MSE or the odd Adobe updates, it can still handle the bulk of data.

  • Use of  HeaderVariableLogonModule with ISA (Proxy server)

    Hi,
We are planning to use the ISA 2010 Server as as reverse proxy to acess the  SAP Portal 7.0 (EHP1). We are going to use the ISA authentication to access the SAP Portal. If we use ISA authentication, I don't want the Portal login page to appear. Once user is authenticated in the ISA server, it should come directly to portal without asking the Portal authentication again..
Can I achieve this scenario with HeaderVariableLogonModule ?.
    Thanks

    Hi,
You can prevent Header Spoofing this by writing your own login module on top of HeaderVariable login module or by having proper firewall rules in place which allows access of Portal only through the ISA server.

  • Windows server 2012 essential installation error

    hi all
I am attempting to install Windows Server 2012 Essentials which will be used as a domain controller. So at the point in the installation when asked about fresh install I select that option. I answer:
    Date, Time, TZ etc
    Company name
    Domain name RPA
    Computer Name
    Administrator Account username
Administrator account user password: 13 characters, mixture of upper, lower case, numbers and special characters. Confirm
    Standard user username
Standard user password: 13 characters, mixture of upper, lower case, numbers and special characters. Confirm
The install continues, reboots , then it continues to the installation screen
Progress bar continues to move across the screen.
When the progress bar gets to approximately 34%, it remains there for quite some time, then I get the screen that states:
"AN ERROR HAS OCCURRED WHILE SETTING UP YOUR SERVER.
IF YOU PURCHASED YOUR SERVER FROM A HARDWARE MANUFACTURER, CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER FOR SUPPORT
TO SAVE THE ERROR LOGS, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU SELECT A FOLDER ON A REMOVABLE MEDIA SUCH AS A USB FLASH DRIVE SO THAT YOU CAN ACCESS YOUR FILES FROM ANOTHER COMPUTER."

had this error before too. What server hardware you got? Where did your Server Installation media come from, MSDN, Retail store? Are you installing on a RAID? if so, what configuration and what is the status of the drives... are they new? the same?
Check out this troubleshooting guide... it should help you identify the area where you do not meet the requirement.
and here is the installation guide which points out some precautions you should note prior to installation.

  • Windows Server 2012 Essential Role

I am running Win2k12 R2, and have available the essential role. Can someone explain what feature would I gain from having this role?

fyi, there is a forum specifically for Essentials:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/home?forum=winserveressentials
And here is a brief explanation of the features gained with Essentials:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2012/07/17/windows-server-2012-essentials-feature-list.aspx
For small networks data protection (pc backup to the Essentials Server) and Anywhere Access are probably the two standouts.  The SKU for Essentials only is limited to 25 users and 50 devices to be backed up.  The Essential Role expands this to
"about" 100 users or devices, although there are seemingly no hard limits.
Here is a third party listing of the "cool" things about the Essentials role in a server domain.
    http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10-things/10-cool-new-features-in-windows-server-2012-r2-essentials/
A little research will turn up lots of articles to help you form your policies in your network.

  • Anyconnect 4 as 802.1x supplicant replacement for Windows - where to put config xml file?

I want to try out Anyconnect NAM as a 802.1x supplicant replacement in Windows 8.1
And I have made myself a fine little config xml file that I want to test.
But where do I put that config file?
Should I rename it to something special, or should Anyconnect NAM have some extra startup parameters?
    Thank you.

The file must be called "configuration.xml" and if you already installed NAM, then put the file in \Users\All Users\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\Network Access Manager\newConfigfiles\ and restart the anyconnect service
If instead you are creating an install package for deploying, you can put the configuration in a directory named Profiles/NAM/  together with the msi package, the installation will import the config itself.when you run the msi file.

  • Elicensing and ISA proxy server

    Hello
Our organization uses Micrsoft ISA server to secure port 80 traffic. If we choose to have Adobe host our licensing service will this work with ISA. Does it pick up the IE proxy settings or can you specify this somewhere in the client configuration file.
    thanks Daron

The license manager component embedded into Acrobat 8 picks up the IE proxy settings, so it should work fine without any settings in the Client Setup file (also know as configuration file or just Adobeconfig.xml)
Make sure to follow the instructions in the "Configuring Acrobat 8 with ALM" document to prepare your installation image. The document is available at: http://www.adobe.com/elicensing/licensemanagement/alm/pdfs/ConfiguringAdobeAcrobat8withAL M_EN.pdf

  • Can i use same NW 2004s DVD for windows and AIX

I have NW2004s Installation DVDs which i use to install in Windows Server
Can i use the same dvds to use in IBM AIX Machine

    Hi Balaji,
I feel , SAP supplies the Software keeping in mind the the Customer Order and the OS/DB  and you may not use the DVDs of Windows to install on AIX as the material Nos of the CDs/DVDs are different e.g.
Kernel DVD                    51032891_1(AIX)    51032893_13(64 Bit WIn)
also watch out for 32 bit/64 bit.
    Hope this is useful.

  • Installed Dreamweaver MX 2004 update for Windows and now Dreamweaver won't open. Help?

I was having some glitches uploading to a host I ftp to often so I decided to check for a Dreamweaver update for MX 2004.  When I found the Windows update and tried to install - it told me to uninstall Extensions. I uninstalled extensions and continued with the installation of the update.  Now Dreamwever will not open at all - it says Dreamweaver MX 2004 has stopped working.  I can see the update is installed since the version is 7.0.1.  Any ideas on how to undo the update? I have no idea where this program disk is right now for reinstallation plus all my servers are already setup....

You might try Windows System Restore to a point before you installed the update.
    Good luck.
