ISA Temperature reading

On my 865P Neo, the ISA main adapter displays:
# cat /sys/bus/i2c/devices/0-0290/temp_input*
2300
4200
6250
Respectively temperatures 1,2,3
What temperatures would this be? ie. case/cpu?

aah, i always thought 3 was my CPU :D
then i guess it is actually fine, that was under heavy load :D
Thanks

  • MacBook pro 1.86GHz Temperature Reading

I'm just curious on what you all think because to be honest after reading all the stories about temperature of the MacBook Pro I decided to get the kernel hack for reading the temperature sensor.
With the MagSafe plugged in, brightness turned to full and the Better Performance mode selected I used it for some general web browsing and Instant Messaging. Also did some basic video editing with video recorded on the iSight. Left all this running for about 10 minutes and took a temperature reading.
The reading came out as shown here:
    60 Celsius or 140 Fahrenheit.
After leaving on same settings but idle and not doing anything I took another temperature read out and discovered it only dropped to 59 Celsius.
    Are those temperatures within reason?
The area above the F keys are hot to touch and bordering on untoucheable. Likewise for the area on the underneat of the laptop.
Everywhere else on the chassis seems to be moderately warm.
What are all your thoughts on the above temperature read outs?

The heaviest load would have been video editing. Under such a load 60 C is reasonable. The subjective temperatures you felt on the metal strip behind the function keys and on the case bottom are typical.
59 C after an period of inactivity following video editing is a bit high but doesn't necessarily indicate a problem. But if you start with the computer at ambient room temperature, do nothing or only very light work and the CPU stabilizes at 59 C that's somewhat high unless your ambient temperature is rather high. Sleep your computer for a time until it cools down, then resume it and monitor the CPU temps while at idle or low load for a good while.
I use an aluminum tilt stand when my MBP is on my desk, or will be in my lap for an extended period of use.
Plugged in, my light-duty (writing and Web surfing) temperatures typically range from the mid 40s to low 50s C. My keyboard and trackpad are not warm and the left palm rest area is at or about body temperature. So the computer remains comfortable to use. The CPU temperatures for comparable activity drop by several degrees. When I'm doing web surfing I'm usually selecting material for download, which results in more activity than just web surfing alone.
Even when I'm doing heavier duty work that frequently pegs the CPUs my computer remains comfortable to use. So I don't have a heat problem.

  • AUX temperature reading???

What is the AUX temperature reading reported by SiSoft Sandra and AIDA32?  My 845GE Max-L usually reports CPU from about 36º C (96º F) to 42º C (107º F) and System around 31º C (87º F).  Neither PC Health Status in CMOS nor PC Alert 4 mention an AUX temperature, but Sandra and AIDA both report it at around 62º C (143.6º F).  Where are they getting this?  Is it anything I should be concerned about?
There was a recent BIOS upgrade (v3.70) that claims to correct temperature reading problems for the 845GE Max.
    Larc

Yes I do have S.M.A.R.T. enabled.  I hadn't thought of hard drives.  Actually, I'm noticing the AUX reading on two systems with 845GE Max-L boards, mine and one I just built for a friend.  My two hard drives have a fan, but the single hard drive on the other system doesn't.  I can easily feel the hard drive on that one, though, and it's nowhere close to where the AUX reading was for that unit.  But I just rechecked and the temp has backed down to 36ºC (96.8ºF).
    It's really confusing!

  • Temperature reading on Dashboard

The dashboard's temperature reading for today in San Diego, CA says "95º"
The reality is that we are having the storm of the year-rain, strong winds, and very cold for us softies in Southern California. It is a far cry from 95º.
Do I need to do something to link my dashboard temperature display to reality?
    Thanks

  • My temperature reading, Mobo and my Thermal probe

Having read quite a few posts saying tht msi's temperature reading were wrong, and also my p4 setup showed very high temps i decided to buy a thermal probe.
My setup is in my sig.
My thermal probe at full load shows 50oc, pc alert4 shows a temp of 70oc (without any sign of cpu throttling)
Idle, my thermal probe shows 36oc, and pc alert4 shows 55oc
I placed the probe on the edge of the p4 chip, touching the meatal housing it has surrounding the die.
    What do you think?

It seems that msi has some thermal problems cause unkown as no one from msi replies to theese questions. I to had very high temperatures but in the end i ended up by returning the motherboard (845pe max2) and have just ordered another brand. My mainboard some times showed a fan speed of zero too, this is using a cooler included in a boxed p4. One can only guess why there are no response from msi regarding this issue. Perhaps this simply is unfixable and they have to release new mainboard revisions to do so. Perhaps it is in the intel chipset to warn us against overclocking, i do believe asus p4pe with 845pe chipset has similar problems. What annoys me is the no response strategy. It should be said that this isn't an msi problem but seems to be with all motherboard manufactures, support isn't very high rated, it just seems like the point is to getting new boards out without actually testing if they work.

  • P67A-GD80 uEFI 'BIOS' temperatures reading...

    Hello,
Few weeks ago I finished my PC build, this time I took my time and planned everything to the last screw and nut. My specification is: Sandy Bridge i7 2600K on P67A-GD80, N580GTX Lightning XE and so on (full specs here http://cauldron.net.tvtrinec.cz/PC_prices.txt , do not mind irrelevant items there, this list was in the first place made for me to track the progress, spendings and my budged to the last penny). It went outstandingly well, but there is one thing, that still bounces in my head. Prior to Windows installation, I was fiddling a little bit in the motherboards uEFI BIOS, and noticed significant overheating according to the BIOS readings. With everything set, good aftermarket cooler - Cooler Master V6GT nicely sitting on top of the brilliant piece of 32nm technology - i7 2600K and "sticked" with one of the best thermal compound in the world - Shin-Etsu X23-7783D.
EDIT: Aaah, sorry, I sent it accidentally before completing it... continued
So with this setting, my readings in the BIOS (I flashed the latest BIOS version 10.4) were over 50°C on the CPU, I thought that it was really high, so maybe I did not apply thermal paste properly (Shin-Etsu is known for being really thick and dense), unmounted heatsink, cleaned everything with ArctiClean 1/2 and applied again, this time really perfectly thin layer. This knocked temperatures about 5-8°C down (with 40°C on start building up over time to about 48°C), but still quite high for idling Sandy Bridge on stock clocks and voltages with this setting :| . I was sad, so I ordered many different high performance thermal compounds (as you can see in a link of the specification list above) and solutions, and prepared myself for looong testing session.
Meanwhile I just installed OS Windows 7 Ultimate, and started playing with settings and installing drivers and so. Then I noticed, it was in MSI Control Center, that core temperatures are not that bad (ranging from 26 to 33°C on all cores idle), and the CPU temperature reading in Green Power card there (Control Center) is even 23°C! I started reading and googling, and people often said that BIOS temperatures are somehow faulty, that CPU in BIOS is not really idling and so...
I downloaded some other third party utilities and software (CPUID HWMonitor, SpeedFan, Real Temp...) and temperatures there were similar with MSI Control Center, around 30°C on all cores idle. I just do not know how many sensors there are on the motherboard, and which software I can trust. Temperatures are similar but not exactly the same, and redings from BIOS are completely off.
If you have anything to this topic, share it with me please.
    Jan

Well yeah, that's what people say everywhere, that BIOS puts some load on CPU. But now, in Windows, what software should I trust in showing real temperatures? Or what are people using most? In what software for example you are checking temperatures? And what are "normal" values for each core, motherboard or CPU as a whole?
And one related query, what about those power saving settings in BIOS? Can they change CPU temperature by that many °C? I mean items like EuP 2013, CPU Phase Control, C1E and Intel C-States, EIST or Power Technology. I know that I will probably need to disable them, since I am going to overclock that Sandy Bridge, but I will appreciate some more info on those. Again, I was googling, found some inconsistent info and opinions about "green power" settings and OC, but the more info from more sources, the better... Thank you

  • What exactly does the "system temperature" read from...

Is it the ambient temperature inside the case.. or how hot the motherboard is. Someone please let me know.. Im having wierd heat issues.. :(
Core Center is saying my System temp is 42c and my cpu is 47c.. while idling. Are these too high?
The thermometer on my case is reading 95f which is about 35c.

    Hi
Also depends on ventilation, and how many fans you have, just check that there are no cables obstructing flow of air from CPU fan. If its in a tight case, under a desk, where there is little movement of air, they heat up quickly,  try a CPU without HS or fan, don't last many seconds before it fries.
On another point, COZMAN, are you up to date with the XP64 drivers, whats available, I read you said the Realtek works, mine don't, reports unable to load as error.  Any way of internet access, thought I'd be smart and fit a lan card, but we know what thought did.
    Cheers

  • Help with istat temperature reading on macbook please :)

    Hey all.
I just dowloaded the IStat widget because i had read about it on the forum. I have noticed over the past day or so my temperature readings are consistantly in the 150's (farenheit) range. There was on point when it was in the 90's range. I am not familiar with how hot the computer should be running, but this seems awfully high. I always have my macbook on a desk or table of some sort with nothing blocking the fan. The fan is at 1799rpm right now. Sort of confused with what this all could mean. Is this or could this be a problem if the computer keeps running so hot?? This laptop is 2 months old. Thank you in advance!

My MacBook regularly gets that hot.

    Hello,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
I modified your VI. See if it works correctly now. Keep in mind that you can select more than one channel for a particular task by selecting Browse in the channel constant and holding the control key while selecting multiple channels.
    I hope this helps!

  • Temperature Reading Porblems Solved

Ok, guys, as I see most people using this board with the amd stock heatsink or Zalman 7000 are experiencing temperatures of 40-50C as a minimum, some higher.
This is a problem with certain Athlon 64 Chip... The new chips manufactured have a varied code ending in AX as apposed to AR. I myself have the Gigabyte K8NS Pro (nForce 3 250) and get readings of idle 49C!!!
My previous board was the Gigabyte K8N Pro (nForce 3 150) and my temps were 35C. This was using an older athlon 64 3000Mhz same heatsink (stock amd) and cpu...
Thus i have concluded until a bios fix, or chipset driver fix comes everyone dont worry... AMD are currently working on the situation... Should be a fix out soon
Also if anyone has lower temperatures post below...

Over the past 24 hours (after installing Zalman 7000 & re-applying thermal paste), I have noticed a decrease in start-up temperatures. Originally - after boot-up and log-on, my temps would be in the mid 40's Cent. This morning, my temps were hovering in the high 30's Cent. I believe that some air pockets that may have developed between heatsink and heatspreader have gradually dissipated, resulting in more effective heat transfer.

  • Temperature reading for K7N2 Delta ILSR

I have a 2500+ Barton (333 FSB) to work with K7N2 Delta ILSR and 2x256 MB Samsung DDRAM(400 FSB).I use MBM to read my CPU temperatures.Usually 45-47 C idle and 54-58 C under full load.I overclock CPU to 400 FSB and I get LOWER TEMPERATURES!!!!!
I use 1:1 bios setting for CPU and DRAM speeds either 333 or 400 FSB.
     How can this by possible?

I use Speedfan which seems to follow the temp in the bios. I've heard that MBM is also accurate. As far as your temps going down on a OC that is very odd indeed.

  • R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5/OC no temperature reading

Hello I just got this card from newegg. When I first turned on my PC, once it started Win 8 the card fans started running at a 100%. At first I thought it was the drivers, since this is a newly built pc. So I installed the drivers that came with the box, which are the latest ones (checked on the website), but still the fans ran at top speed. I installed AfterBurner and was able to manually decrease the fan speed. I tried finding out what was going on, I went to check on the temperature readings for the GPU but they all say 0 degrees Celsius.
I tried using catalyst control center and a couple of third party monitors and I got the same readings. Has anyone seen a problem like this before? Is it fixable? I'm scared of playing games because the fan won't scale up and down automatically, I would have to do it manually without even knowing the temperature of the GPU. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, downloading all windows updates, my mobo is on the latest BIOS. Every other temperature readings are showing except for the video card.
    Mobo: ASUS P8Z77-V LK

have you tried to check it with GPU-Z http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2198/TechPowerUp_GPU-Z_v0.6.7.html
    at sensor tab?
or with >>How to use MSI Afterburner<< ?
have you tried msi vga drivers from msi web for your card?

  • Has anyone tried the 1.2C BIOS and had it completely fix their temperature reading problems?

Mine went down to 37C, then back up to 59C when I left the computer off overnight.
It did this after every attempt to solve the problem by flashing the BIOS.
Also, the NB temperature stays at 45C even on the first boot after flashing where the CPU temperature temporarily changes. Does this happen for other people too?

I have a SC-2042-RTD Board and the temperature readings I get are approxiximately 7 degrees high. Every thing is connected as specified in the manual. We are using a 3 wire RTD configuratuion. The current excitation is set at 1mA but is actually 1.0035 mA from the board. The Daq card I am using is a DaqCard-A
    I16XE-50.

Two quick things to check are: make sure the sensor does not exceed a max resistance of 8.5k ohms and do not leave any current excitation sources unloaded.
Also, check out chapter five of the SC-2042 user manaul (attached) about how to calibrate the device. This may help get rid of the bad readings.
