ISCSI NAS Drive visible in Disk Management w correct props; not visible in Explorer

I have a NAS drive setup as a RAID 6. I have it on a network and until a few days ago, all was fine, i.e. I could access it and the files that reside on it. NOW, I cannot access any of the files on the drive. In Windows Explorer, the drive is identified
but when I click on Properties, it has no characteristics. In Windows Disk Management, the drive shows and when I click on Properties, the correct characteristics are displayed, including the fact that a portion of the drive is used. However, when I try to
open the drive, it cannot be opened. I have checked the network settings and everything seems to be correct. Also, Microsoft iSCSI is running. I am running Windows 7.
I have disconnected and reconnected the drive. Shutdown the NAS drive and rebooted the computer. None of these steps changed anything. Also, I have not loaded or updated any software.
What should/can I do?? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,
Thank you for the update and sharing.
Any more question, please feel free to ask.

  • TS1493 When I go to change the drive letter, I go through the entire process and when I click on disk management, my ipod is not listed. On my computer it is still listed as a digital camera

I have searched online and tried all the possibilities to fix the issues I am having but have sadly been unsuccessful. My ipod is being read as a digital camera, it is not reading on my itunes therefore I cannot sync any music or apps I have purchased. The only solution I couldn't try was to change my drive letter. Main reason being, my device did not show up under the disk management page.

If you have pictures (on your iPod) in the Camera Roll, that may be why the iPod is showing up as a camera. The Camera Roll is where pictures taken on the iPod, screenshots taken on the iPod and pictures saved from Safari are stored.
Copy the pictures from the Camera Roll and put them onto yuor computer. Once you have done that, you can delete the pictures from the Camera Roll and perhaps the iPod will stop showing up as a camera.
The iPod Touch does not have an accessible hard drive, so it will not show up under disk management.

  • Anyone able to connect to a drive using Airport Disk Manager?

I know that the login failure has been rampant judging from the posts here, with every post I've read saying that Mapping the Network drive is the only workaround. Has anyone running a Windows machine been able to use the AirDisk Manager to connect to a drive? If so, please share your experience.

    Sure. I'd appreciate the help.
I can't connect to the internet. I have Vista, WRT54GS Version 7. I'm not sure of the firmware version, but I had a WRT54GS Version 5 previously that worked for a year until one day, it just stopped working. So I called Linksys and went through lots of steps and they told me they'll replace it. I just received this version 7 router and it still doesn't work. It shows that it's connected to the router but not the internet.

  • Disk Utility has Lost Connection with the Disk Managment Tool

    Hi,
For starters, this problem is not associated with the thread that Brian Z. has posted at the top of this forum. Having said that, here's my problem:
I had installed Security Update 2006-003, and Quicktime 7.1. Permissions were repaired before and after each installation, and all went well.
Some hours later, I was experimenting with Apple Remote Desktop. I had activated ARD in the System Preferences>Sharing pane, and it provided me an IP address associated with ARD. I then turned on Airport, and ARD provided me with an IP address associated with that connection. However when I turned off my modem connection, System Preferences>Sharing hung, and had to be Force Quit.
    Console Log follows:
    ===== Mon May 15 2006 ===== 21:09:09 America/Anchorage =====
    2006-05-15 21:09:17.488 System Preferences[2732] Can't open input server /Library/InputManagers/Menu Extra Enabler.bundle

Thinking a plist had become corrupted, I trashed the following:
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist
    com.apple.Remotemanagement.plist
    com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist.
System Preferences started out very slowly, but then all the panes except Sharing would work ok.
I booted from the install disk and performed a Disk Repair. There were no problems reported.
When I tried to run a Repair Permissions, after about 20 seconds I got the, "Disk Utility has lost connection with the disk management tool and can not continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility."
I quit D.U. and the Installer, and was able to successfully run a Repair Permissions from the D.U. in my Utilities folder. It had no problems to report.
Continuting to troubleshoot the System Preferences problem, I then trashed the com.apple.preferencepanes.cache. This solved my System Preferences>Sharing problem.
However, I am still unable to perform a Repair Permissions after booting from my install disk (I get the subject message). Repairing permissions from the Disk Utility in my Utilies folder works fine.
Any thoughts out there on a logical way to troubleshoot where my problem is? Is there a way to get a console log when I'm running DU from the install disk, or a comparable source??
    Thanks,
    Bob

I found this crash log that was generated about the time I had problems with System Preferences hanging.
    Thoughts?

I'm trying to install OEM SR 2.1: Windows 95B in Qemu...  How do I figure out which brand of CD-ROM drive Qemu emulates since I have three different drive specific boot disks...?

Not exactly...; all MS produced Win9X/ME install CDs are ISO-9660 & maybe even Joliet too...  The really confusing part is that not all Windows 98 SE full install CDs are even bootable in the first place (they tend to only ship one if the PC is capable of booting directly from its optical drive...; the vast majority of PCs have to use the chain loading method due to buggy, poorly written, outdated BIOSes...; etc.).  OEM SR 2.1/Windows 95B is really quite special & innovative for its time in that it was the first Service Release of Windows 95 to support larger HDs via FAT32 which back then was still brand new: i.e.: exciting technology & it still has proven to be quite useful & versatile since most flash memory storage devices come pre-formatted FAT32.
There's also a hidden X:\Usbsupp folder on the CD that contains the MS USB 1.1 supplement patches/upgrader: a common mis-nomer is that you don't need to install it unless your PC has USB 1.1 ports.  Even without USB 1.1 ports the upgrades to C:\Windows\system make it a lot less buggy, more secure & stable.  For anyone else that enjoys emulating OEM SR 2.1 there's also a great unofficial SP 1 for it which has so many useful patches in it I'm considering integrating it into all of my install CDs...
Unfortunately I've found that getting it to run decently requires tracking down a bevy of essential but according to MS's not releasing them in patch form optional DLL upgrades...  I guess not all machines are that unreliable but better to have them...; just in case you encounter a PC with a buggy BIOS that has hardware coniptions and/or ACPI/APM bugs.

  • Port Forward for NAS drive

    Hi guys,
Hopefully someone can help me out, i recently got a synology DS211j NAS drive, i can connect to the NAS over the LAN, but when i try to access for outside my home network i cant connect to it. I have added the ports to redirect to the NAS drive and have even set up a DNS, not sure if i even needed it? I have tried to access by typing my ip address and port into an external computer browser, but nothing is working.
Also after added the port to open to router i try to test the ports at canyouseeme.org, and i get the message
Error: I could not see your service on (IP Address here) on port (5000)
    Reason: Connection timed out
If anyone has any idea what im doing wrong or how is fix it, please fill me in
    Thanks

Sorry for the late comeback.  Been bust elsewhere.
I've kind of got the system working.  As long as I use an outside source I can view the services that are operating on the HomeHub3.  I'm just unable to view my own services whilst internally from behind the HomeHub.
Reading around this appears to be a similar issue and something to do with 'loopback' I think.  Where I can view my services from an external IP source but unable to view my services whilst attempting to look from within the internal IP source as the HomeHub setup 'denies' this action.
I've begun searching for help with lopback.  unfortunatly I'm getting a little bit of information overload with edit this hosts file, do this etc.
Would someone with homeHub knowledge know what needs to be or at least point me in a great direction the provides a step by step helpful guide to a solution of viewing my own services ?
    Many thanks for knowledge given.

  • IPod continually asks to be restored/Screen Black/Does not appear in Disk Managment

Okay, I have a 4th generation iPod Touch that was on version 4.2.1. I decided to update to an already downloaded version of 4.3.3. I Manually update by holding shift and clicking restore (I had save music and made a backup already). To do this I forced my ipod into recovery mode or DFU mode or whatever... After the restore went through, it finished and then it showed me that the iPod still needed to be restored so I restored it again. This continues on in an infinite loop of restoring. I started googling and found something about change the disk letter of your ipod in order to fix the problem of infinite looping restores but it seems that when I access Disk Managment, my iPod does not show. I had also realized that my iPod shows in iTunes as "iPod" but windows does not recognize it at all in the explorer. My ipod is around less than a year old. When I plug my ipod in, it make the connection noise. I have no idea what is going on and I've tried everything!

Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes): This issue is typically caused by out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software. Please followTroubleshooting security software issues if USB troubleshooting does not resolve this issue.

  • Index a NAS drive

Hi all, we recently installed a NAS drive, but have discovered that 10.8 will not index a drive connected over the ethernet, is there a fix for this?

Not any I'm aware of. File a bug report or enhancement request with Apple.

  • Using OS X Server VPN to Access NAS Drive?

    Hi everyone!
I have been looking into getting an NAS drive for cloud backups and storage, and I was wondering if I bought an NAS drive like the Synology Diskstation, would I theoretically be able to use Mac OS X's VPN function to share the NAS drive to, say, my MacBook when I was not at home? Would that be possible, being able to access the files on the NAS drive whenever I have a Wi-Fi connection regardless of where I am?
    Thanks much!

In addition to what Linc Davis wrote...
The performance of your VPN-based share will be the lesser of the VPN bandwidth, of the NAS bandwidth, of the overhead of whatever file storage protocol you're using to access the storage, of your own local network uplink, of the coffee shop network, or whatever happens to be the slowest link within this connection.
Certainly prototype this configuration and find out what you can get for performance, but you might not find that the results meet your expectations.  Particularly if you're thinking that you'll get NAS share-like access akin to what you get when directly connected to your local network.  You won't get anything near that, unless you're connected on some big (and expensive) network links.
While many folks do have remote access into various remote networks via VPN and can access and transfer files via those VPNs, a common alternative used by many folks involves pushing the core shared files up to a cloud-hosting provider, and accessing the individual files from there.  This approach gets several parts of the connection out of the path, and moves your core shared files "closer" to you in the network; out onto hosting servers (usually) with much lower network latencies and with far larger network bandwidth.  Dropbox and SpiderOak are in this market, and there are others.
If you do head further along the self-hosting path that you're currently on (and if you do have the network bandwidth to support this), then something like OwnCloud might be interesting to you, too.  Here's a write-up on OwnCloud.  There are other private-cloud packages around, as well.

  • WDMyCloud NAS drive not visible

    Hi,
on new Win8.1 pro PC, my NAS drive, WDMyCloud, is not visible in Network as a computer. It is visible under Media Devices and under Storage section though. So I can play media from it and access the management console but not access/transfer files and map
a drive to it. The WDMyCloud drive is accessible via my Android smart phone. Also my Windows 8.1 laptop can see it as computer (though sometimes takes a while now - until I connected the new PC all was working fine). The drive is connected to WiFi
router by ethernet cable and I can ping it from all devices. Please help me map the drive.

    Hi Fangzhou,
disabling the firewall had no effect. The link you provided did not provide a solution either. I don't use Norton antivirus, just the default Windows Defender. The fact that "unspecified error" mostly means "access denied" is interesting
though. I therefore investigated further and found 2 errors in the system event log which might point to the cause. The pc17 is the computer where I am having the problem, pc8 is another computer on my network. They seem to be having some kind
of dispute though lol. Not being able to join WORKGROUP and the NAS, as the settings indicate, would have made itself part of WORKGROUP, this may well prevent the NAS being visible and cause the "unspecified error". If this is the
cause then not really sure how to make these two combatants be nice to each other :-D.

  • LENOVO U310, windows 7, SSD drive showing in bios but not in the disk management

    Hi,
    I recently installed windows 7.
But after installing I found out the the computer is not waking from sleep. When I enter the password and press enter the screen becomes blank. I have to again restart the system.
Doing some googling I found out that SSD drive does the caching when iRST is used.
So I tried to look for SSD in the Disk management, But I can see only 1 500 GB HHD. It doesn't show the SSD drive.
Even the Intel Rapid Storage technology is not detecting. It shows internal empty port 0.
But when I checked in the BIOS, in the system information i can see the SSD mentioned.
If any one of you have faced the same problem and/or know some work around then please help.
    Thanks,
    Sumit

Sounds one of the following problems:
1.) The drive is formatted MBR w/ win 8 features enabled / legacy disabled.
2.) A "dynamic" drive is present.

Can a use a partitioned external hard drive to create a disk image? I tried, doesn't seem to work using disk manager.

OK, it's very bad computing to use a backup disk for anything but a backup. The reason being is if/when the HD crashes you will have lost not only all your backup but the data files. While I commend you for wanting redundant backup, you really need separate EHDs for doing so. Format each EHD using Disk Utility to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) using the GUID parttition. When you connect, OS X will ask if you want to use that drive as a Time Machine backup drive, select yes and then let it backup. On the second EHD format the same way however do not use TM as a backup, this time I'd suggest an app such as SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to make a clone of the internal HD. Leave both EHDs connected and TM will backup new or changed files automatically on a hourly basis. The clone you will need to set to backup on the schedule you want. For example I have my SuperDuper EHD set to backup only changed or updated files at 2AM every day.
The advantage of a clone is that if the computers internal HD crashes you can boot from a clone and continue working, TM will not do that but it's great for keeping an archive of all files. So if you want a version of a file from many months ago, TM will help you locate and restore it.

    Hi,
In Disk 0 and I am unable access one of the
drive and unable to assign a drive letter to it. I've gone through the MMC for disk management but the only option i get is

    thanks!

there is no drive letter assigned to it so how to run Chkdsk for that 19 GB drive.
    Hi,
please use the diskpart utility, list volume\list partition to find more information about the disk

  • New SCSI drive does not appear in disk manager - what can I do?

I am working on an older HP ML350G4
    It has server 2003 installed.
It has run out of memory, so I added another drive. I rebooted, and went to format it but !! not in disc manager.
I cannot find it anywhere. There's no unrecognised devices in devmgr, yet it does not sghow up in disk manager either.
Please give me some advice as to what I have done wrong/can do to get it up?

    Hi VW Crank,
“I added another drive. I rebooted” are you installed the new disk then you can not found your system volume? It most possible is you need install the RAID array driver after
    you install the new server.
