ISDN C40 codec issue

Hello,
I am a video teleconference technician with an interesting issue, recently our higher headquarters made changes to our C40 codec. Since this has happened I am able to place ISDN calls and receive audio, but no video. During the call under system information it states that video protocols are off, I am not sure what controls that, as the menu option isn't displayed while not in a call. Our problem seems to be isolated to ISDN calls, as last night I was able to conduct a conference with full video and audio using IP. If anyone has had any issues with this or can provide any guidance on what changes need to be made I would greatly appreciate the help.
Troubleshooting Conducted:
Changed MTU Rate- Resulted in the Codec being unable to communicate with the ISDN interface
Tested using IP- Full audio and visual

Hi David,
We'll need a bit more information on your topology and configuration.  What call control is your C40 connected to?  Standalone, VCS, CUCM?
How is your ISDN connected to your C40?  An ISDN Gateway, a local Ciscl ISDNLink, via some other call mechanism?
Have there been any changes to your ISDN service?  Have you changed providers?  If so, does the new provider know you want to do video, or have they only configured an audio ISDN service?
Also the version numbers of the equipment/software could prove useful to assist with troubleshooting.
Cheers
Wayne

  • Coverting C20 / C40 Codec to 10.5(2) CUCM

Not sure this is correct discussion group....
We have 2 Profile 42 C20 and a Multisite C40 that were being used internally only for video conferencing.   They were using Callway (now WebEx) cloud for registration.  Since we are running CUCM 10.5(2) we decided to move the units to CUCM.   I upgraded the Codecs to TC7.2.1 and did the conversion and the devices are now using CUCM.
We had an issue in the conversion.... the devices would not "release" the old Proxy in the web interface so TAC set it through the CLI.
I have a couple of questions....
    1) The original URI was <10 digit phone number>@webex.com.   The TAC engineer set the new URI to <4-digit extension>@.  I don't understand why the format does not use our internal domain.  I have a pub/sub cluster, so if the Sub is offline for maintenance I believe the Codecs won't work.  Can someone clarify this?
    2) When the Codecs were registering to WebEx, they were given static IPs by the VAR who came on site to set them up several years ago.  They were just put on the normal VLANs that PCs use.   I have Voice Vlans configured -- so I was wondering if these Codecs now should be set up as phones to take advantage of QoS.  I recently witnessed a video conference (before conversion) where the video quality was pretty poor -- "posterization" artifacts.  Wondering if this would help.
    Thanks,
    Perry

    Thanks....
I figured as such and put our Sub node in Proxy 1 and Pub node as Proxy 2.   So can I replace the @ with our domain (i.e. <extension>@cisco.com) and it will still work?  I could not get TAC to explain why I couldn't use that.
As for QoS settings, the Codecs seem to have a spot for specifying Voice Vlan (currently set to Off).  The QoS settings in the Codec configuration are also set to 0.  I am looking for doc that specifies the correct QoS settings.
Right now, I have discovered that my C40 codec that has Multisite license will not accept multiple video calls... :(

    Hello,
My first time using Adobe Premier CS6.
I have edited a film on Avid 6 but it's far too big.
I want to import this film into Adobe Premier CS6 for re editing so I can export it as a H.264 and make it small enough to post online (currently it's 9gb)
I have tried importing it but I'm running into CODEC issues eeven though it's a .mov.  What can I do?
Please help, it's all new to me.

  • No audio on downloaded movies, codec issue???

    Hello,
I hope I am in the right section to post this question, apologies if I am not. I have recently downloaded a few movies and mini series via a torrent website that have saved on my hard drive as avi files. The visual is perfect, however I have no audio. Is there a way to fix this? someone has told me that it may be a codec issue, although I do not know what to do to fix this, or what application I need to retrieve the audio. I have had a look on version tracker, but don't fully understand what the whole codec thing does.
If more info is needed, please post back. sorry if this is a no brainer issue!
I really appreciate any suggestions/info to help me out.
    thanks!

Ok, so now I have another problem. a couple of the previous items I had downloaded were playing fine, audio and all, and now I have gone back to play these movies again to test the sound, and the sound has stopped on these now too! I have no idea what is going on with this. I am using quicktime to playback the movies, if that helps.
    thank you!

It is Vista. Doesn't support games that use hardware accelerated surround sound. Try to use the Alchemy software provided by Creative (for a fee for Audigy users, for free for X-Fi ones) if your games are on the ones that are supported - the ones that uses DirectX for sound.Unfortunately Half-Life2 uses a proprietary sound system and is not supported. The link is http://www.soundblaster.com/alchemy/ Warning: STUPIDLY long waiting time till all the stuff on that page is loading! The games that use OpenAL don't need Alchemy, will work fine under Vista.

  • C40 Ethernet issue

C40 shows no lan connection . i have already changed cable and factory reset the device but issue still persist. Pl help me out.

    Hello
When you mean no LAN connection does this mean you plug an Ethernet cable into the c40 network jack and the physical lights on the port don't come up. Just to confirm the C40 has 2 Ethernet ports the 1st one marked in Orange  named "Ethernet" is the Main network jack and is where your cable should be plugged in. The second port is for pairing a TouchPad and can also be used for data but you have to change this in the codec webpage or through ssh/telnet.
If the lights do come up the most likely reason is an IP or vlan misconfig. You can change this settings through the remote or touchpad that came with the device. If you set it correctly and it does not seem to come up try using DHCP to see if it receives and address and use that to configure it.
Let me know how this goes.

  • Codec issue

I re-edited a FCP 7 project for someone. The sequence settings are: 1440x1080 HD (1440x1080( (16:9) and the compressor is HDV 1080i60
He's going to drop it into premier on his side on a PC. I exported it two different ways. Once with this codec: Linear PCM, MPEG-2 Video and another time with: Linear PCM, H.264
He has purchased and installed quicktime pro 7 for PC plus the MPEG 2 plug-in but he can only get audio on his side through quicktime.
Any ideas how this can be solved? Thanks in advance.

thank you for the reply. There really isn't any stock footage in the master assembly. Its combination of green screen footage they shot and some graphics they built as PNG files that are key framed.
The .mov green screen footage is: 1440x1080 HDV 1080i60 and the PNG files are 1920 x1080 PNG
but there is one motion back that is 1440x1080 but is using the "animation" codec.
Besides rendering, could this be an issue? I've exported the entire file with the animation codec as well but it's 8 gigs and of course the client needs it NOW (as always) so I cant send it through yousendit or something like that.
he can see the h264 and the mpeg2 exports ive done on his mac but only the audio on his pc that is running quicktime pro7 for PC. I've pretty much figured that the reason he wants it on the pc is because he's familiar with Premiere and there is some other work that needs to be done to reformat this to 720x480 4:3 for cable TV broadcast but wants to do it on hi send instead of paying me to do it. So... with the above info, do you have any further advice?
And thanks to both of you for your replies.

  • Animation Codec Issues - no preview in Media Encoder or Quickview..

I have recently updated to Mavericks (10.9.5) and I have since found that I can't preview any After Effects creative I have produced with the animation codec in Media Encoder. Normally I would bring the AE file (with animation codec) in to Encoder and resize to convert to an FLV, only now I can't preview the resize so I have no idea what the file will look like when converted. I have seen that people are having issues with the animation codec using quick view (space bar) but has anyone else been having issues in Encoder on Mavericks?

Are you by any chance using the Titler in Premiere? I had some problems with render jobs hanging mid stream on one project and learned that the Titler is not entirely stable.
That's about the only experience I have in this area, wish I could help more.

  • RENDER and AVI and CODEC issues

I've ripped a DVD clip from Handbrake-- AVI file and Codec is AVC/H.264 video/MPS audio (that's how it is) and it will go into FCP ok and to the timeline. It needs rendered and so begins the problem.
It says, there's a "render error and not enough disk space/free up with render manager?" There's PLENTY of space. I deleted all rendering in the render manager for good measure and I have 350 internal GB of space and 500GB external HD. Room is not a problem.
Never had this problem before. Suggestions?

why is Final Cut giving me a Render error when I clearly have plenty of space and it's never done this before.
You converted the files to the wrong format...pure and simple. FCP doesn't like dealing with those codecs. I think it's bad that it even lets them work initially...because it leads people into the false belief that FCP will work with those formats.
The codec you chose is one FCP doesn't work with, that is why you have having issues. You need to convert to formats you find in the EASY SETUP list. ProRes is the HD codec of choice.
Trashing preferences won't help. You need to convert ALL of your footage to the proper format, give those new files the same names as the ones you are working with now....and relink to the new files. And then fix the sequence settings to match. THis is a big mess that will take effort to fix.

  • Frame Rate and Codec issues in Premiere CC exports

    Here is the breakdown.
    My timeline is...
A 24fps HD timeline in a Cineform Codec
    My first SD Export was...
Quicktime / NTSC DV 24p preset
    Result...
Looks interlaced and squshed in QT Player and claims the file is 29.97fps
Looks interlaced but not squished in Windows Media Player unsure what frame rate it thinks it is.
Looks decent in my Premiere timeline and claims it is indeed 23.97fps
2nd Export I tried HD...Quicktime / HD 720p 24fps preset but changed aspect to 1920x1080 with Animation codec
Result... HD footage sounds fine recognizes the images in the clip if you click through it in the source monitor, but wen rendered from yello to green in the timeline, the video just reads Media Pending.
Really need help with this ASAP.  On a harsh deadline.  CC is proving to be more truoble that it was worth upgrading from CS4.

We are sending the most uncompressed SD version in 23.97fps for another person to author on their end with the compression that will accomodate the other tracks on the disc and get the best quality.  We were told to send a QT file at 23.97 since the original file was a 24.0 fps project (nativly shot on 35mm film) BUT the file we exported at 23.97 to send as a test read as 29.97 outside of Premiere.  If I can solve the annomally with the frame rate changing between Premiere and a QT Player window I will be a happy camper.  Has anyone had issues with frame rates being messed up on export and not exporting as the setting you set it on?
We are not authoring the final disc at our end.

  • IDT high definition audio CODEC issue

Hi! Today i woke up, turned my laptop on and suddenly my beats audio is not working. When I click on the volume button in the bottom right hand corner, it says "there is a problem with IDT high definition audio CODEC. Reinstalling the driver might fix this problem." So I checked 'apply this fix' and a new message popped up saying, "Troubleshooting was unable to automatically fix all issues found."
I have used macbooks most of my life so i am very clueless on what to do with this issue!! I have windows 8.1 and a touchsmart PC laptop, which came with the beats audio..does anyone know how i can possibly fix this??!

  • Premier elements 13 codec issue

When I try to play a video I get the error, "The selected file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compresser/decompresser(codec) installed."  How can I get it to work?

    moziator
    Preliminary Findings....
I have download your .m2ts file to my Windows 7 64 bit computer, and my Elements Organizer findings are the following
Elements Organizer 13 - to be tested tomorrow.
Elements Organizer 12 - good video and audio playback in Elements Organizer 12 player.
Elements Organizer 11 - good video and audio playback in Elements Organizer 11 player.
Elements Organizer 10 - good video and audio playback in Elements Organizer 10 player.
And, no problems were found with the playback of video and audio if this file was just imported (Add Media/Files and Folders) into the Premiere Elements Editor of these versions.
It was another story for this file and Elements Organizer on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Elements Organizer 13 - to be tested tomorrow.
Elements Organizer 12, 11, and 10...no play back of video and audio - message was system does not have installed compressor/decompressor (codec)
    a. renaming of container unsuccessful - .m2ts replaced with .mp4 or .mov or .mpeg.
    b. conversion to H.264.mp4 with HandBrake was partially successful
Elements Organizer 12 player played back video and audio for H. 264.mp4
Elements Organizer 11 player played back video and audio but with issues for H.264.mp4
Elements Organizer 10 player played back video and audio but with issues for H.264.mp4
However, when these seemingly flawed H.264.mp4 were sent from the Elements Organizer to Premiere Elements Editor, they played back from the
Timeline in the Edit mode monitor without any problems.
And, no problems were found with the playback of video and audio if this file was just imported (Add Media/Files and Folders) into the Premiere Elements Editor of these versions.
More tomorrow, targeting Elements Organizer 13. Comments to follow wrap up.

  • Could a codec issue be my problem?

Hi Guys, something has occurred, seemingly overnight, and I am trying to troubleshoot the cause.  My workflow sees me render AVI from AE and then convert the AVI to mp4 or whatever in the AME.  The size of my AVI files usally mean a render in AME takes 2 or less minutes.  I have a grunty system so I can play the AVI without hassle.  Last night I noticed the render time in AME was much slower than it should be, I know the render times of these comps and it was considerably slower.  My system resources were not the problem.  Today when I try to play the AVI in QT, the playback is choppy with second increments being skipped. Again this is happening when less than 8% of my system resources are being used.  I have never before not been able to play the AVI smoothly.  All of my drivers are updated.
My OS is Windows 8.1.  CPU is i7 3820, 64G of RAM, Nvidia GTX560, SSD drives for programs, assets and source files etc all distributed onto different hard drives.  I am working with AE CS6 (cloud version) and it is up to date.
I have been researching the internet and see people speaking about uninstalling codec packs and re-installing to fix choppy playback.  I'm not sure whether this is something I should do.  Apart from that I am at a loss as to what might have suddenly caused this.  Any suggestions for where else to look would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mandy

Hi Rick, from AE it was the default "Best Settings" 1280 x 720, Audio on AVI and in AME the YouTube preset.  I doubt the render settings have anything to do with it - reason being, AVI movies that were rendered previous to this issue and have been watched many times without issue, are now choppy when watched.
As for what has changed, well I asked myself the same.  I changed my keyboard and mouse to wireless.  Also I deleted all my fonts and from another computer with the same OS, I re-installed the default set.
It may not have anything to do with the Adobe suite and more to do with my OS but I thought I'd ask both here and over at Microsoft and see what suggestions might be offered.  I guess worst case I will look to do a clean install but I want to exhaust easier avenues first.

  • Animation codec issue with iMovie 08

I use the Animation codec a lot as it's a good fit for my workflow.
However, it seems iMovie 08 has issues exporting movies containing clips with Animation video.
iMovie will import them without a glitch, they will play perfectly inside iMovie's preview window but when I export the movie, all the Animation-encoded clips will not be rendered. I still have audio, titles and others clips encoded with different codecs but all the Animation part are pitch black.
    Can anyone confirm this bug?

iMovie will import them without a glitch, they will play perfectly inside iMovie's preview window but when I export the movie, all the Animation-encoded clips will not be rendered. I still have audio, titles and others clips encoded with different codecs but all the Animation part are pitch black.
Check the video rate and the frame rate. See the pattern? Nothing I did would increase data rate or raise frame rate above 1. Looks like a real bug here.
