ISDN telephone on VIC2-2BRI-NT/TE

I have a problem connecting a PBX on a 2800 with vic-2bri-nt/te where the isdn card must be NT. I focused the problem on the tei assignment. The PBX is expecting tei from thr 2800 but it does not supply. I changed the PBX with an ISDN telephone and through debug I see that the router receives tei requests but still does not supply. I tried several commands stll no solution.
Anyone knows how I can supply tei from the router?

Try with the command tei-negotiation first call

  • ISDN phone on Vic2-2Bri-NT/TE card

I installed a Vic2-2Bri-NT/TE on our 2851 with CME, when I attach an ISDN phone directly on Vic2-2Bri port I always get busy tone as soon as I pick up the phone. In the log I read :
    ISDN BR0/1/0 Q931: TX -> DISCONNECT pd = 8 callref 0x84
Cause i = 0x829C - Invalid number format (incomplete number)
From other IP phone connected on CME I can call the isdn phone, i can also call the isdn call from outside. More over If if configure connection plar on voice port, when I pick up the isdn phone i can call the number setted as connection plar, even when it is an external number.
But i can't still make a call directly from the isdn phone without connection plar because when i pick up the handset I soon get busy tone.
Please could anyone give me the right advice?
Thank you very much in advance.
    Best regards.

    Hi Paolo,
configuring "isdn overlap-receiving" on bri interfaces it works well, I get dial-tone off-hook and then i can make call as usual from isdn phone. I just figuredthet after last digit it makes too much time to start the call, but this is not a big problem.
Thank you very much for your precious collaboration.
I hope rated tihis post correctly.

    Hi,

  • VIC2-2BRI problem

    Hi,
I need help regarding problem i'm having with ISDN BRI cards.
The problem is from time to time L1 link goes down between PBX and Cisco 2801 with VIC2-2BRI cards. Problem is not related to a specific type of PBX or just one PBX, but this happens very frequently now, on multiple sites.
I've managed to find several workaround solutions, but they are far from final.
    1. If i'm using new cards (BRI) and setting a new site, I can't get the cards to go up, that is OK light won't come up, unless I connect straight cable in BRI card, and on the other side connect (short circuit) pins 3,4 and 5,6, make a loop. And here is the "tricky" part, if I don't do shut, no shut cards won't come up, or reload the router and connect cable to card before interfaces come up.
    2. On existing sites link just goes down, all by itself, in that case all that helps is to put the cards in another slot, and use the above method. Cables stay the same, cards and router also, IOS also.
I really don't see the problem here!
Has anyone had any similar experiences?
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Damir

    Hi,
Unfortunately, I don't see the actual transition, it would help me also.
This is only thing i've found in logs.
    Nov 18 10:49:47: ISDN BR0/2/0 **ERROR**: handle_l2d_srq_mail: Layer 1 inactive
    Nov 18 10:49:50: ISDN BR0/2/0 Q931: L3_ShutDown: Shutting down ISDN Layer 3
Nov 18 10:49:51.042 CET: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface BRI0/2/0, changed state to down
But from this I can't see that much...
Thing is this happens more when you are using new cards, or existing somewhere else.
Normal cards light up OK when they are going through POST, it tells you that the card is recognized and working. B1 and B2 channels (lights) don't light of course.
More and more I think this a bug...
P.S. sorry I can't provide more errors, but this is only thing that happens, that's way it's strange!

    Damir

  • VIC2-2BRI NT/TE - link going down

    Hi,
    I have VIC2-2BRI NT/TE on router 2801.
If there are no calls for some time, the interfaces are going down, and none outbound call can't be placed.
Only when inbound call is placed, the link is going up, and everything is working 'till next time.
Does anybody know what could be the reason?
    Thanks

I remember i've got a similar problem sometimes ago on the same router and on my 3825 router too.
But the difference is that the VIC2-2BRI NT/TE remains up until i place calls. The first call goes through one port of the interface, and after that, this port changes state to down. The second call uses the second port of the interface, and after goes down. then i can no more place calls. But i can receive calls from PSTN, and just before, the interfaces change state to UP. And i can place two other calls again and the same problem occur.
To issue this problem, i entered the command
" isdn transition-delay 1" at each BRI interface
    And things now go well.
But i would like to get more information about this command, if you can help me

  • Fax sending problems

    - we have local offices with 2801 and 2821 routers, IOS 12.4(8) with CCM 4.1.
    - the fax (Panasonic KX-FT906, KX-FT25 or Canon FAX-B110) is connected to the FXS analog (VIC2-2FXS) port of the 2801 router.
    - when a call is placed to the remote fax, the call is routed to the ISDN BRI port (VIC2-2BRI-NT/TE) and not to IP cloud (The control packets go to the CallManager, which says to the FXS port to communicate directly with the BRI port. The data packets travelling directly between the FXS and BRI ports)
    - the call is set up and the caller begins to transmit the page(s)
    - at the remote site the called fax begin to print out the received page(s)
    - after the last page sent the caller shows "Transmisson error"
    - it looks like the faxes do not change after the last page sent a normal "end-of-session" message that may be interpreted by the caller as a transmission error
    - it looks like the router brakes down the call before this exchange of this "end-of-session" message take place

    Are you running H323?
Did you configure Fax-Relay or Fax-Passthrough?

  • ISDN2 Back to Back conf (VIC2-BRI to Video Conf Unit) is this possible?

The following URL might give you some more ideas on how to do TDM switching through the BRI/PRI voice ports -
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk652/tk653/technologies_tech_note09186a00804794c6.shtml
If you are outside of North America, remember to set the companing to a-law on the voice port - once the call connects the DSP will be dropped and a pure TDM connection made as long as the E1 and BRI companding are the same.
Some external BRI devices don't like to negotiate a TEI, so you can set a static TEI of 0 using the D channel command 'isdn static-tei 0' and doing a shut/no shut on the interface.
If this still does not help, run a debug ISDN Q921 and log the results after plugging in the external unit and performing the shut/no shut on the D channel.

  • Wich module for ISDN phone

I need to connect a ISDN phone to my 2800 series router, running call manager express. Can some one please point me in the direction of which card will allow me to make outgoing and accept incoming calls.

    Thanks.
Thats good I have a VIC2-2BRI-NT/TE. Could you possibly advise on basic configuration.
Currently the LEDs on the card are off and I can't seem to get them on. The router is detected the module, during bootup. Card is HWIC 0 and I have two PVDM 32 modules installed.
    Planned configuration is.
    ISDN phone --- cisco 2811 --- IP conection ----cisco 2811 -- BRI.
If you can help me get the phone working that would be great.

  • ISDN BRI "Requested facility not subscribed" on debug isdn q931

    I'm setting up a new Callmanager Express site. I'm using VIC2-2BRI ports on a 2821 running 12.4 (3a) CCME Version 3.3
When I try and place or receive a call across the BRI circuits, I get this error message on "debug isdn q931".
    May 30 15:19:02: ISDN BR0/0/0 Q931: RX <- RELEASE_COMP pd = 8 callref = 0x55
    Cause i = 0x82B2 - Requested facility not subscribed
    May 30 15:19:02: ISDN BR0/0/0 **ERROR**: L3_BadPeerMsg: event 0x5A cr 0xD5 callid 0x0
Everything looks good at layer 1 and 2 using "show isdn status".

Here is the meaning of your output. Cause i = 0x82B2
82 Means Telco switch sent it.
    B2 Requested facility not subscribed
The remote equipment supports the supplementary service by subscription only.
Here are a couple of things that could cause it. The first one I ran into before.
This cause indicates that the network cannot provide the supplementary service that the user requests. The user has probably not completed the necessary administrative arrangements with the supporting networks.
I have run into this before on PRI, not sure if this will work on BRI. Try setting the below command on the BRI interface. This will remove outbound calling name display but will probably fix your issue. If you require the service talk to TELCO to get it subscribed.
    "no isdn outgoing ie facility"
Also these below if disable outgoing ie on the BRI doesnt work.
The ISDN network can also return this cause code when a user makes a call attempt, but does not enter the SPIDs, or enters the SPIDs incorrectly. Ensure that your SPIDs are correct, or contact your telco to verify your SPIDs.
Also verify the speed of the outgoing call that the ISDN network supports (56k or 64k).

  • Vic2 - 2FXS Card in 2801 and modem / fax usage

    Hi,
    I have a Cisco 2801 running c2801-advipservicesk9-mz.124-9.T.bin
    It has 2 VIC2-2BRI-NT/TE cards, 1 VIC2-2FXS. And a PVDM2-8 and a PVDM2-16 as DSP's.
I am trying to get a modem working on a FXS port, but one way or the other it's just not comming together.
I do have a propper PSTN line when I use an analogue phone, but when I try to hook up a modem nothing or sometimes a crappy 2k4 connection.
What am I missing here, I thought by putting in enough DSP's in the router and a FXS card and BRI cards this should work.
Nothing fancy configured on the voice ports (first 4 are BRI last 2 FXS)
