ISE 1.1 and Apple devices

I am trying to setup profiling for Apple devices, specifically iPad devices and am seeing where ISE will identitfy an iPad 1 device fine, but will not identity an iPad 2 nor an iPad 3, both list as unknown.  It also shows an iPhone as Apple-Device and thats has far as it gets.
The Profiling Policies are all set to Create Matching identity Group and I havent messed with any of the Profiling rules.  As anyone seen this before?
Thanks

FYI
With ISE Release 1.2*, Cisco is delivering, a unique feed service that provides new and updated profiles for various IP enabled devices when vendors release new devices. So ISE customers will be able to recognize new devices, in addition to a multitude of other network attached devices such as printers, video cameras, and specialized mobile computing devices.
Cisco works with various vendors, partners, customers, etc. to profile the multitude of IP enabled devices that are expected to be deployed in various customer environments and create profiles for these. These profiles are made available through the Cisco Feed Service. An ISE server* that is configured to connect to the Feed Service establishes a secure connection with cloud based Feed Service. The various profiles on the Feed Service are then automatically downloaded to the ISE server, thus providing ISE customers the ability to stay abreast and detect various IP enabled devices that connect to their network. The Feed Service will be available with the release of ISE 1.2* software release and is part of the Advanced License.

In tune show all summary activity during sync between nb and apple device. One of the summary is memory space status. Audio mayb3gb, photo 2gb, app with 3gb. What is other? Other consist of what type of file? It show quite substantial storage capacity?? Anyone can answer what is in other??

"Other" includes data such as contact information and photos assigned to contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks/cookies/history, notes created with the Notes application, SMS messages, email stored locally or cached, and 3rd party application data created and stored by the application.
If "other" is more than say .75GB at the most, you had a corrupt sync. Try syncing again and if the problem persists, the recognized fix for this is to restore your iPad.

I need to update my iTunes and iPod touch,iPad and iPhone but they were set up with a hp laptop that i sold i tried to update my iTunes and apple devices but it tell's me if i update i will lose all media on my devices and to update with the original computr

Go to www.ecamm.com and d/l PhoneView.
To prevent a sync when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - hold down the 'option' and the 'command' keys when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - key the keys down until the iPod/iPhone is listed under the Devices list in iTunes - this will prevent a sync from taking place.
With PhoneView you can take the content from the device to the iTunes library.

  • I will soon be purchasing a new PC running Windows 7. I need to know how to migrate my iTunes Library and apple devices to the PC. Is there a previously published support document on this topic? Thank You.

I will soon be purchasing a new PC running Windows 7. I need to know how to migrate my iTunes Library and apple devices to the PC. Is there a previously published support document on this topic? Thank You.

Connect a blank powered external drive to the PC.
Right click on the Disk in the File manager and choose format: exFAT
(if it's a XP machine, first install exFAT from Microsoft and reboot)
navigate to your user account folders on the PC and drag and drop copy (or copy and paste) to the external drive.
(if a program has your files, then export them out first)
Hook up the drive to the Mac, and transfer files to the desktop or to their same appropritate folders.
Import photo's into iPhoto program, import music into iTunes etc and they will manage those files.
You can continue to use the external exFAT drive between Mac's and PC's
Do not format the drive NTFS or FAT, NTFS can't be written too by the Mac and FAT can't hold over 4GB sized files.
If you format exFAT on the Mac, it likely won't work correctly on the  PC.
"Migration" type programs are a utter waste of time and effort between PC's and Mac's for the fact that only certain files (and no programs or anything else) will work between them, also it's a hassle and takes too long. So don't even bother with it.

    It has error number -50.

If it only happens with this project, it's probable some media files have become corrupted.
Those may be render files. Make sure background rendering is off. Select the project in the browser and from the file menu, choose Delete Project Render Files; choose All from the dialog. Without rendering, try exporting.
If that doesn't work, use an optimized version of your DSLR clips. (Right click on the clips in the browser and hit Transcode.)

  • Aironet 1140 FLEXCONNECT External Web Authentication and Apple Devices

    Hi!
I'm having an issue with this Access Point.
I've configured this access point with WLC in mode FlexConnect with web authentication.
It's all right, i'm connecting with my PC in wireless, i open my web browser in windows, then the Access Point redirect me to External Web Authentication Page,
i put my credentials, and  i'm redirected to my access point ( https:/1.1.1.1/login.html i accept the certificate) and then the Access Point redirect me to Internet.
I do this with my android phone, it's all right again.
I try to connect with iphone or ipad , i'm  redirected to External Web Authentication Page, i put my credentials, and i'm  redirected to https://1.1.1.1/login.html where the web browser don't ask me anything and i'm not redirected to Internet.
    Have you any idea?

Thx you Scott, i understand what are you talking about, but my problem is different.
    I try to explain..
I see the wireless network, i associate the iphone to this network, so i'm  redirected to Login page,
as i use the "Apple Login" or i Open a Web Page .
In this page , that i reach with all devices i put my credentials, then i will be redirected with all devices
    back to Access Point (https://1.1.1.1/login.html).
In this page i should be   redirected to internet after Radius Authentication, but with Apple Devices this doesn't work.
This is thw WEB AUTHENTICATION from Cisco Documents.
The user associates to the web authentication SSID.
    The user opens their browser.
The WLC redirects to the guest portal (such as ISE or NGS) as soon as a URL is entered.
The user authenticates on the portal.
The guest portal redirects back to the WLC with the credentials entered.
The WLC authenticates the guest user via RADIUS.
The WLC redirects back to the original URL.

  • UDM and Apple Device Enrollment Program

Does anyone know if the Apple Device Enrollment Program works when integrating Microsoft Intune with SCCM 2012?  Seems all the articles I find only reference standalone Intune.
    Thanks!

No, not yet William. This feature was only introduced in standalone Intune in March. Currently features typically follow in hybrid 90 days later (we're told that this gap should be shortened soon). Although it is possible that this one may not make
it to ConfigMgr (I don't know the roadmap).
Have a look at the official Microsoft Intune blog describing March's new features.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/microsoftintune/archive/2015/03/04/march-updates-coming-this-week-to-microsoft-intune.aspx?linkId=12671375
By the way the same applies to the Apple Configurator. There is currently no way to create Intune Device Enrolment Profiles in the hybrid solution.

  • Optimizing Experience of Family Router and Apple Devices

I'm very much a layman, but I've been doing a ton of research the past couple weeks on the following topics for optimizing my Apple World.  I know a lot more about basically what these terms mean and this stuff is, but honestly, the way it all effects each other has me more confused.
Here's the equipment that uses internet and is applicable to my questions. DirecTV Genie OnDemand, Apple Macbook late 2008 Aluminum 5,1 (with latest firmware), Apple Macbook early 2008 Black, Brand New Apple iPad Air, 2x Apple iPhone 5c's. Internet is local ISP in Oklahoma called Wavelinx (I live outside city and it works in my area), they provided us with a Netgear N150 router.
1: I upgraded my Apple 5,1 late 2008 from 2x1GB RAM to 2x2GB RAM.  Results were awesome! But it still trips up on me.  Is upgrading further to 2x4GB (I have latest firmware) advisable and worth it?  When I check my Activity Monitor, I frequently have 8-10 open applications with 100+ Mbps.
2: I've been downloading torrents and other stuff and maxing out my 160GB SATA HDD.  I'm considering an upgrade to some sort of SDD HD.  Is this worth it?  I'd probably only get about the same size or even downsize in storage because...
3: I'm shopping for a WIRELESS external hard drive.  Considering the Seagate 2TB or the Apple Airport TB.  I will then connect wirelessly and backup all movies and data to this, theoretically keeping my internal HD relatively empty.  Recommend the Apple Airport?  And if I got the Apple Airport...
4: Would this also handle my need for an upgraded router?  My ISP customer service said there have been issues with people using Airports as routers.  But he said once I've got it going should be okay.
5: As far as routers, I learned about 802.11ac, and so I was limiting myself to only those capable routers. Then I learn this morning that my Macbook can't even support this. But there are adapters available.  Is using an adapter with my Macbook late 2008 advisable?  If so any recommendation for an affordable one? And if not, then what is the best router type that makes sense for me to get?
6: FYI, my Macbook works okay most of the time with current internet.  But the phones and the iPad are a pain. I frequently will disconnect them from wifi and use internal because the speed ***** and I'll get 1 or 2 bars.  Would the 802.11ac routers help them but not my Macbook?
Essentially if you were me, with my exact equipment, what would you do and what's worth upgrading?  The external HD is a must.  But is the extra 4GB Ram worth it? Is the upgraded router worth it?  If so, is it worth an 802.11ac router?  If not then any suggestions?
Please don't advocate any replacemen devices at this point. I'm trying to get improvements and do too many things to go buy a brand new Macbook.  Although the SDD drive is a consideration on my Macbook, because I don't wan tto invest a lot and have the new OS not be available on it.  But if the SDD will make it "lightning fast," then I'd say it's worth it. The early 2008 Macbook is my wife's, and she could care less.  Thus no questions.   If I get new RAM, I"ll install my old in hers but that's about it.
Thank you very much in advance. I want to become an informed Mac/Apple User and when and if I do, I will pay this knowledge forward.  My specialty is writing and journalism.  So if any of you need some help or advice there, I'd love to return the favor to anyone that takes the time to help me.

I'm new to this forum, and I read the guidelines but didn't have time to read that closely.  Was trying to regurgitate all of this text during my break.
So if I've written this wrong and I seem like an idiot nobody wants to help, or I've broken a "cardinal rule," or code of Mac User Forums, I am sorry. And if someone will just say "hey man, nobody's going to reply to this." Then I'll take more time and repost or break my questions down into sections.
The reason I put it all together, is one thing I'm finding out as I try to educate myself on this stuff. Is how interconnected this all is.  I was about to buy the 802.11ac router last night, not having any clue that my Macbook type may not even support it.  But then also, my Macbook works just okay, I can deal with it.  My main complaints about speed are with the mobile devices.  However, if an adapter for 802.11ac is advisable, I'll by all means get one.
So anyway, I'm trying to make some informed decisions based on the whole picture here.  But if this isn't the way to get a question answered, someone please inform me.  I'll not take it personally.  I'm by no means smart enough to handle IT type stuff, and I desperately need someone that has some knowledge that I only wish I did.
    Thanks.

  • WRT160 doesn't seem to be able to support both PC and Apple devices on at the same time

we have 2 PCs, a macbook and an iphone. we use a cable modem with the WRT160 router. since thursday the 2 PCs can connect to the internet at the same time, but the mac then loses its connection as does the iphone. if the mac and iphone are connected, the minute we start up a PC, the mac and iphone lose their connection and can't reconnect. Apple couldn't help and said it was the router. Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it?

Open the router setup page and reduce the MTU to1400 and click save settings..Under the Wireless tab,Click on the subtab Advanced Wireless Settings...Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...Now,check..

  • I have an iPhone 5 and the new-style proper apple earphones will not work in it. Other cheaper earphones will but they are awful, and I have tried the apple ones in other phones and apple devices and they work fine as earphones, so why not in my iPhone?

so basically the official apple headphones work in other iPads, iPhones and computers but they won't work in my iPhone 5. So does this mean there is an issue with my jack? But why do any other alternative earphones work and it's just the apple ones which don't? I'm a little confused and really I'd like the proper ones to work because they produce the best quality sound. Help please!

Could be a contact problem. There are certain places inside the headset port where proper contact is needed for the various functions the Apple headset has, for example the Remote/microphone unit that cheaper headphones don't have.
You should have your phone checked by an Authorized Apple Service provider or by visiting an Apple Store next to your place.

  • Cisco ISE trying to posture a device that should not be able to be postured

    Overview:
Cisco ISE version 1.1.4. Windows PC will be postured using Web NAC agent. Mobile devices (Apple/Android) can't be postured and will be exempted from posturing. Mobile devices will be exempted using the condition EndPoints:PostureApplicable EQUALS No. This worked fine and mobile devices will be caught by this condition while Windows device will be caught by another that sends to posturing.
    Mobile device authorisation policy configured:
    Problem:
A few days later, mobile devices doesn't seem to end up in the policy that has EndPoints:PostureApplicable EQUALS No. After having a look at monitoring, Cisco ISE is classifies  mobile devices as Posturable. The Posture Status previously was "NotApplicable" now shows up as "Pending". See below.
    Troubleshooting:
I tried a total of 4 different mobile devices. 2 Apple and 2 Android. All of them have the Posture Status of "Pending". Interestingly after a few tries, both the Androids starting working and have the PostureStatus of "NotApplicable", no configuration changes were made. The 2 Apple device still doesn't work and show up as "Pending".
I have restarted ISE, Access Point and Apple device. I have also tried other Apple device. All with the same problem.
Have any of you guys experienced this before?

    Hi,
I have also experienced the same issues as yourself and would recommend opening a tac case. However I have used the device registration web portal to redirect all previous detected mobile devices to accept the aup and have them statically assigned to an endpoint group so they do not hit this scenario.
I know it is a workaround but its the only way i could get this to work and not affect devices that were one time detected as such.

  • ISE profiling on Apple-Device, Apple-iPhone and Apple-iPad

    hi,
I have a question on ISE profiling, espcially on Apple-device.
My testing environment: when i use iphone to connect, by default the result profiled me as apple-device.
But when i try to get it more specific, i mark the identity store as apple-iphone on the authorization rule, it fail somehow. It seem it cannot go deeper to analyze it's iphone, instead of Apple-Device.
The default of the apple-iphone porfiler condition for apple-iphone is checking the hostname and user-agent. So when i try to use the safari browser to get online, it won't bounce me as apple-iphone profile somehow..
    Question:
    01. what should i do in order the profiler can analyze directly it was the apple-iPhone, or any thing need to configure ? say like authorization rule?
    Thanks
    Noel

Are you getting redirected to the web portal in ISE? That is the most common way the ISE can get the user agent of the browser in order to profile the device as the apple-iphone. Give that a try and then see if the user agent is learned, you should get a message to refresh your browser momentarily. Then coa should trigger and the wireless controller should get the new authorization profile that you configured for your apple-iphone endpoints.
    Thanks

  • Apple Devices ISE GUEST REDIRECT

    Dears,
All our devices connecting to corporate SSID and Guest SSID
when connecting to Guest SSID all devices connect and  been redirected to  ISE Guert portal
BUT APPLE devices just stays on loading page to Ise server page for guest portal and nothing happens
    i used
config network captive bypass command and reboot it doesnt help

You need to do a bit more testing. What I would do is create a new WLAN for testing using the internal auth portal and define the WLAN the same as your guest with the exception of radius, aaa override and radius nac. Have user use that and your self use that on your phone and see if you have to login every so often. Right now, every hour the users device goes to sleep (iOS especially), they would need to login again.  Maybe your aaa is overwriting the timer or something else, that's why testing with a different wlan will help you understand if it's a radius, WLC, or maybe device issues.  You only have one WLC so roaming shouldn't break this

  • Apple devices and WEP

In advance, a disclaimer: Please don't lecture me about how we shouldn't be using WEP...I'm fully aware how just how bad WEP is from a network security standpoint. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to change it at the moment.
I wasn't really sure where to post this, as it's not specific to any one device and could very well be a software problem. That being said: why is it that NONE of the Apple devices I've used have ever worked correctly on the WEP network here? Where I work, we've got all Cisco equipment, but unfortunately, we're still on WEP. We've got hundreds of Windows devices that operate just fine with it.
On the other hand, on every Mac portable device I've had since I started working here 7 years ago, it's been an issue. I enter all the information correctly when I try to add the network as an Airport profile, and one of two things happens:
    1. It prompts me for the password over and over.
    or
    2. It takes the information like everything is ok, but then it doesn't connect (no "bars")
Every once in a while I will get a device to connect and work, but it's usually only temporary...it'll just stop working all of a sudden. It doesn't have to do with proximity to the access points; believe me, I checked. I'm positive I'm entering everything correctly, as I actually work for the IT Department here. I've had numerous portables through the years including various MacBook/PowerBook Pros, iMacs, and now an iPad which also doesn't want to work on our WEP network. We have four buildings here, which are technically four separate networks, all configured with the same type of access points, and Apple devices don't connect properly in any of them. Being that we have plenty of Windows-based devices, as well as Android portable devices that work on our WEP network, it would appear that the problem is isolated to Apple.
Is anyone else here still stuck using WEP (perhaps at your workplace), and has anyone else had similar problems to what I'm having here? What did you do to resolve them? I'm dying to get my iPad on the wireless here, but it just won't cooperate.

WEP password may not work for all computers in a multiplatform environment.
For a 40 bit WEP network, always choose a 5-character password.
For a 128 bit WEP network, always choose a 13-character password.
For example, Nintendo DS supports only WEP so when I wanted to use it, I defined a 13 character WEP password and it worked on the DS, on my Macs and on the Nokia cellphone.

You may be prompted for the password even though it has already been saved:
