ISE 1.2 Auth Avg Response Time

Hi Guys,
We have recently moved to ISE 1.2 (distributed deployment on UCS C220 blades) from ACS 5.x. We are seeing Avergage Auth response time ~150ms in each PSN nodes (4 in total) & wonder whether this is too slow.
Is this normal or we should have much lower average response time for thos radius authentications ? What are the typical value you guys observed in those sort of deployment
Any input would be much appreciated
Rasika

Hi,
Where did you get your information from? Is it from the ISE Authentication Report Summary? If so, which of the Average responses are you concerned about? Authentications By Day, Identity Group, Identity Store, Allowed Protocol etc.
In my network average response based on protocol PEAP is 121ms. Authentication by day is 74ms. Then again my network may be smaller than yours. Also I have an appliance and not a Virtual Server. In my opinion, I don't think 150ms is that much to make the user notice. If authentication response gets close to 300ms, then you have an issue.
If you have a very large network like a University Campus, then 150ms is OK.

  • Report to calculate avg response time for a transaction using ST03.

    Hi Abap Gurus ,
I want to develop a report which calculates the average response time(ST 03) for a transaction on hourly basis.
I have read many threads like in which users are posting which tables/FM to use to extract data such as  dialog step and total response time .
I am sure many would have created a report like this , would appeciate if you can share pseudo code for same.Any help regarding the same is highly appreciated...

  • High Avg Response time for logon requests via CMS

    Hi Team ,
We are continuously receiving observing high Average reponse time for logon requests to the BO system  via  Central Management Server.
We observe response time up to 25043 ms .
Currently we are on SAP BO 4.0  SP7 patch 9  (4.0.7.9)
    DB = SQL server 2008 R2
App Server = SAP NW 7.31 SP 7.
Also the size of our CMS DB is around 15 GB .
What could be  the possible reasons ?
    Regards ,
    Abhinav

    Hi Abhinav,
As one of the issues has been raised as a bug which is resolved in BI 4.1 so you can upgrade to resolve this bug. Also if the CMS database size is large then CMS has to search for objects through huge number of rows hence that will affect overall performance. So you can try to reduce this size as per my previous upate.
Apart this you can try following steps
Try to ping CMS DB server from BO servers and confirm the response is coming in 1 ms. Run tracert <DB servers name> from CMD and check the number of hops. If response time is not 1 ms or there are more number of hops then ask your network team to resolve network latency issue
You can increase the "System database connections"  for each CMS from server properties. It is set to 14 by default which means the CMS will establish 14 connections to CMS database at any time. You can increase this value, however please make sure that the system database allows more connections than default 14 from DB side. This needs to be confirmed from your DBA.
Please add CMS cluster members in platformservices.properties file under Tomcat folder. Please refer following SAP KBA for steps to add the cluster members
           http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1668515
           http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1766935
       4. Also please confirm number of users simultaneously login to system at peak time. Usually one           CMS is capable of handling around 500 requests. So if you have more then 1000 users then add           another new CMS on same nodes if there is enough free memory on the server

  • What %of Avg Response time for Avg DB Time is known as Good Perfformance ?

If my average response 875 mili seconds - what %of DB Time is accepted as best perofrmance.
could any one give bench marks for Best peforming ABAP (R/3) System>
    Rgds
    PR

    Hey,
In general, normal performance should have
60% DB and 40% appl, however, those performance are right for ECC/R3, if you are using other system, this is not relevant, for example XI, might have 80%DB and only 20% appl.
it looks like your system is not having performance problems,
due to the fact that you have 875 mili sec average response time.

  • Average response Time

    All,
What is the ideal Avg Response Time for a System?
Is there any formula to calculate?
    What does SAP reccomend?

    Dear Bidwan,
Response time for dialog process is <b>generally based on sum of wait timeroll in timeload generation timeprocessing timelock time+db request time</b> and is measured at the application server level.
U can get these values from ST03(N) transaction.
Response time will differ for different systems, there is no such thing as ideal response time. System can be tuned to get any value for response time based on system resources and system load.
    reward points if usefull.
    Awaiz.

  • OSB Service Response times

    Hi,
How do we monitor the response time measurement of each service invocation? I am aware that OSB provides Service Health by which Avg Response times can be monitored.
However I am looking for any OSB native capability that will provide start time, end time, response time for each instance of service invocation. Is there a way to do this in OSB in a native way without custom logging start time, end time in the service message flow itself?
    Thanks

I think that what you need is a sort of access logging functionality. This feature is provided out of the box by WebLogic Server:
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs103/config_wls/web_server.html#wp1059425
Above all, look at extended log format. I guess you will find it useful.
If you won't be happy with this feature, you can still think about using a web server (or anything else that can log for you) as a proxy in front of OSB. That's what I prefer personally. For example using Apache HTTP Server (with WebLogic plugin) will provide you with capabilities to log anything you want.

  • ASM & Average Response Time

Greetings All, I was hoping that others may have some insight into DB Control and how is reports ASM Disk response times.
    First my environment:
Oracle RAC 11g R1 Standard Edition, Patchset 12
    Two Node Cluster
    Windows x64 2003 R2 DataCenter Edition.
I am leveraging DB Control to monitor the ASM instances along with the db instances. My issue is regarding how db control gathers metrics to report on average response time for the DISKS that make up the Disk Group.
    I have two issues:
1.) The overall response time reported in db control for my disk group "DATA" does not jive with the average I calculate based on the numbers being reported by db control. E.g.) I have ten LUNS in my DATA disk group and if I calculate the mean avg response time from each individual disk as reported by db control I don't get the same number being reported by db control. The numbers differ by as much as 20%.
2.) The numbers reported by ASM for avg response time for each LUN in the disk group are not the same from disk to disk. E.g.) In my current production environment here are the Avg Response Times for each LUN in the group:
    8.73, 11.38, 5.22, 4.13, 3.04, 15.84, 12.71, 12.91, 10.51, 9.25.
I would have expected that these disks would have had the same avg response time because ASM is working to guarantee that each disk has the same number of I/O's.
The disk array has identical disks for all 10.
Further, the average for all disks as being reported by db control is : 7.28.
If I do the math I get an average of 9.38, the % diff between these two numbers is 28%
I have heard that db control does a poor job of reporting on ASM disk metrics but this is just people grumbling. I was hoping that someone out there may have some solid facts regarding db control and ASM.

    hey....
maybe its be better off to open a generel discussion task on metalink....

  • Avg iview response time

At Workload Analysis (Sol man Diagnostics) why I have u201CAvg servlet/webdynpro response timeu201D and u201CAvg iview response timeu201D?
I mean, the request time of the iview is calculated separated from the request time of the servlet (In case I have an iview with a servlet inside), if so I have to sum both to have the complete time request? Or the KPI u201Cavg iviewu201D is for the iviews that does not have a servlets or a webdynpros inside?
I am a little confused with these concepts, someone can explain to me or show me some document that explains this?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Walde Requena

    I don't understand the question.
Do you want to know how to display dialog response time in ST03? If so, your instructions tell how to bring up that screen. It will show Dialog response time providing there have been Dialog steps executed.
Or do you want to know which function module you call to get dialog response time data? Use SAPWL_WORKLOAD_GET_STATISTIC to get hourly, daily, etc. data (for a given day and instance) for each task type.

  • SAP GoLive : File System Response Times and Online Redologs design

    Hello,
A SAP Going Live Verification session has just been performed on our SAP Production environnement.
    SAP ECC6
    Oracle 10.2.0.2
    Solaris 10
As usual, we received database configuration instructions, but I'm a little bit skeptical about two of them :
    1/
We have been told that our file system read response times "do not meet the standard requirements"
The following datafile has ben considered having a too high average read time per block.
File name -Blocks read  -  Avg. read time (ms)  -Total read time per datafile (ms)
    /oracle/PMA/sapdata5/sr3700_10/sr3700.data10          67534                         23                               1553282
I'm surprised that an average read time of 23ms is considered a high value. What are exactly those "standard requirements" ?
    2/
We have been asked  to increase the size of the online redo logs which are already quite large (54Mb).
Actually we have BW loading that generates "Chekpoint not comlete" message every night.
I've read in sap note 79341 that :
"The disadvantage of big redo log files is the lower checkpoint frequency and the longer time Oracle needs for an instance recovery."
Frankly, I have problems undertanding this sentence.
Frequent checkpoints means more redo log file switches, means more archive redo log files generated. right ?
But how is it that frequent chekpoints should decrease the time necessary for recovery ?
    Thank you.
Any useful help would be appreciated.

    Hello
    >> I'm surprised that an average read time of 23ms is considered a high value. What are exactly those "standard requirements" ?
The recommended ("standard") values are published at the end of sapnote #322896.
23 ms seems really a little bit high to me - for example we have round about 4 to 6 ms on our productive system (with SAN storage).
    >> Frequent checkpoints means more redo log file switches, means more archive redo log files generated. right?
    Correct.
    >> But how is it that frequent chekpoints should decrease the time necessary for recovery ?
A checkpoint is occured on every logswitch (of the online redologfiles). On a checkpoint event the following 3 things are happening in an oracle database:
Every dirty block in the buffer cache is written down to the datafiles
The latest SCN is written (updated) into the datafile header
The latest SCN is also written to the controlfiles
If your redologfiles are larger ... checkpoints are not happening so often and in this case the dirty buffers are not written down to the datafiles (in the case of no free space in the buffer cache is needed). So if your instance crashes you need to apply more redologs to the datafiles to be in a consistent state (roll forward). If you have smaller redologfiles more log switches are occured and so the SCNs in the data file headers (and the corresponding data) are closer to the newest SCN -> ergo the recovery is faster.
But this concept does not really fit the reality because of oracle implements some algorithm to reduce the workload for the DBWR in the case of a checkpoint.
There are also several parameters (depends on the oracle version) which control that a required recovery time is kept. (for example FAST_START_MTTR_TARGET)
    Regards
    Stefan

  • SESSION_MANAGER  using more response time

    Dear Experts ,
My SAP Production Server performance these days show very slow.I check in Early Watch Report that Top 5 Transistion.
The "Top 5 transactions" diagram  show the average response time in dialog tasks for the top 5 transactions
In this upper one is SESSION_MANAGER .
Rest all is for Z development.
Transaction     Type     Dialog Steps     Total Resp. Time in %     Avg. Resp. Time in ms     Avg. CPU Time in ms     Avg. DB Time in ms     Avg. GUI Time in ms
    Total          752009     100,0     1.213,7     177,1     758,1     229,5
    SESSION_MANAGER     DIA     34155     5,7     1.524,6     164,7     595,5     627,5
Now How to analyses and solve  for  SESSION_MANAGER .
    thanks in advanced
    pooja

in most companies, SESSION_MANAGER always show as one of the slowest transaction. This is usually not an issue.
check other reports and analyze them but do not lose your time on SESSION_MANAGER.

  • Slow response times

This last weekend, we migrated off of our old server 2003 cf7mx server, to a new Server 2008r2 x64 CF 9,0,1,274733 server.  We are now experiencing slow response times for our server, according to the Windows Performance monitor our Avg Request times are way up. I have been going through some logs but nothing seems to leap out at me, but i am not the best CF admin.  As i dont know what information would be usefull, i have tried to give all the info.

Please let me know if any other data would be usefull.

    Hi,
I expect the error details in CF9\runtime\logs\coldfusion-out.log will like provide a clue as to problem.
For a more long term plan I think you should do what you can to migrate the ACCESS data to SQL or some other database.

  • Version 7.4 First Response Time and TIcket Close Time Metrics

Can someone advise on how the First Response Time (Avg) and Ticket Close Time (Avg) are calculated on the Help Desk dashboard? What I am wondering is if a ticket is accepted but no comment entered, is the acceptance considered first response? Also in the Ticket Close time, does it exclude weekends and/or time spent in the "waiting on user" state?

  • Unable to capture the Citrix network response time using OATS Load testing.

Unable to capture the Citrix network response time using OATS Load testing. Here is the scenario " in our project users logs into Citrix network and select the Hyperion application and does the Transaction and the Clients wants us to simulate the same scenario for load testing. We have scripted starting from Citrix Login and then launching Hyperion application. But the time taken to launch the Hyperion Application from Citrix network has not been captured whereas Hyperion Transaction time have been recorded. Can any help to resolve this issue ASAP?

  • HP Pavilion hard drive response time is very slow but tests pass (evenutally)

I have owned a HP Pavilion M1199a originally running Windows XP, but has been running Windows Vista 32-bit for the last 3 years or more.
The PC started to lock up for 30 seconds or more (2 weeks ago), with the disk light constantly on then go again for no apparent reason. These lock ups have become more frequent and for longer durations. I removed anti-virus software, and a few other applications/services but generally this computer is fairly clean as I use it as a media center PC.
I have tried checking the disk (SATA) for errors, and it passes although the tests take a lot longer than they should. The resource monitor shows no excess CPU usage and there is plenty of memory available. The disk monitor shows response times of 5000-20000 ms.
What is the best way to proceed from here? Is there a SATA controller or motherboard (ASUS PTGD1-LA) test? Should I buy another SATA drive and try that? I suspect that it is either the drive, drive controller and/or the motherboard that is failing but I don't know how to isolate the problem. The computer hardware configuration has remained the same for years.
The OS has the automatic updates enabled and I uninstalled the recent ones in case they were somehow causing an issue.

1/ No, but I am running Vista, so assume this will be the same? Or should I just look at the tmp and temp environment variables to see what folders are being used?
In Vista type temp in the Search programs and files box and double click on the temp files icon that appears above. Delete all the files in the folder that you can. It is safe as they are exactly what they are called and that is temporary files. If you haven't done this ever or in quite a while there should be a noticeable increase in the operating system's response time.
2/ Yes. It completes after a very long time.
5/ No - but will try this out too.
