ISE and on-boarding issue

Hi,
I have set up ISE 1.14 to do BYOD with Flexconnect APs. The clients are connecting to a guest SSID and are receiving the flexconnect acl and the redirect url for the guest portal but are not being redirected at all. I can browse from the client to both the PSN ISE's admin GUI and the Sponsor portal but cannot manually browse to the guest portal, I just get an error message telling me that the guestportal resource is unavailable. I am hoping that someone will have some ideas.
Thanks

Barry,
There's a big checklist to do.
Have a look at:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps11640/products_configuration_example09186a0080c090eb.shtml
- One of the things people forget typically is:
http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCue68065
(a few dependencies will exist depending whether you're using local switching or not).
- Another is assinging the ACL locally on AP in case of local switching.

  • MSI BIOS Beeps and Mother Board Issues

    Hi gang,
I am new to this forum. I am a tech at a small town PC store. I have an msi mother board that is throwing an error beep that I have never heard before. The beeps go something like this 1-2 a high pitch beep, then a low pitch beep. The mother board is the MS 6526 Ver. 2. I have tried another video card and the board will still do the same thing. The mother board does not act this way all of the time. Sometimes the machine boots fine and runs perfect. I have noticed that when restarting the machine, the problem occurs there most of the time. the machine will reboot and set there with an amber light on the monitor. I can turn the machine on and off a couple of times and then it will boot and run; this pattern is not consistant. I felt that it could be a bad processor or mother board. Any ideas?
    Thanks

If the beep code is 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps then that's indicating a problem with the display card. Perhaps it could even be an issue with the slot itself. If you try a PCI graphics card instead of AGP do you still get the issue? Have you tried a different power supply too?

  • Mail and Key board issues with Mavericks 9.2

I am using a Mac Pro and have just uploaded Mavericks 9.2 upgrade.
I am now experiencing erratic response to key board commands, while typing and Mac Mail is sometimes unresponsive. My epson photo stylus 1400 printer driver also bacame unresponsive. This issue was resolved by uninstalling the driver, re-installing the original driver >reloading the upgrades from Epson via software update>adding the newly installed printer to the preferences. Presently the printer is working just fine, but the Mac Mail menu bar is blinking uncontrollabley and is unresponsive until I quit it and reboot the program.  Anyon else having these issues?

Problem resolved by restting the PRAM.

  • CoA issues between ISE and 3750x

We are having an issue using the cisco ise 1.1.2 and a 3750x (Version 12.2(58)SE2)
When the radius sends a reauthentication CoA message to the switch, the switch responds with a 'session contect not found' reply. I have upgraded the code to the latest levels on both the ise and switch and still have the same resultts.
This reauthenticate is needed after the NAC profiler determines the pc is complient. I am receiving the complient message from the pc and switch, but becuase the switch never reauthentices the client after the CoA request, the client is never granted full access.
I am not sure if the radius server is sending the wrong session id, or if the switch is looking at it wrong.
    Please Help...!!!!!

As per the cisco recommendation IOSv12.2(52)SE is suitable for Catalyst 3750-X which will support all  the features without any issues like  MAB,802.1X,CWA,LWA,COA,VLAN,DACL,SAG as mentioned in the link below:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ise/1.1.1/compatibility/ise_sdt.html.
I see you are using IOSv12.2(58)SE2,which is not recommended. So you can  downgrade to IOSv12.2(52)SE which will solve your issues.

  • Ise and windows CA cert issues during tls

    Hi All,
We are having some issues when doing eap-tls during onboarding. The setup is to have a single ssid network. Clients initially gets connected via peap and after onboarding it is eap-tls. The environment is a 2 tier CA hirearchy having a root-ca (offline) and intermediate CA (this is the AD domain enterprise CA and scep server). ISE cert was signed by the intermediate CA for https and eap. Also imported the certificate chain from the intermediate CA to ISE cert store (converted from .p7b to .der). It also has the scep RA certificate and scep communication between ise and scep server looks ok.
The issue is during the onboarding process (tested with windows xp) after the redirection to guest poral, windows SPW wizard starts and prompts to confirm the user certificate. This keeps on prompting after 'ok' is clicked and does not proceed further. The 'view certificate' shows the following error " The issuer of this ccertficate is not found". ISE shows the following errors in authentication details (jpg attached). Windows SPW logs shows that it keep on retrying authentication.
The issuer of the client cert which is the intermediate CA cert is already in the ISE certificate store. Therefore shouldn't that client get this issuer CA details from ISE and ISE should be able to authenticate client during onboarding to start the tls connection? Do we have to import seperate certs for root-ca, Intermediate ca in ise store instead of the chain?
Does anybody had this issue with ISE in a hirearchical CA environment?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Is there anyone who has used Freescale's SimpleSUB.dll and DEMOJM board?

    Hello,
I am trying to connect Frescale DEMOJM board over USB connection. I am adding SimpleUSB.dll to my visual instrument thorough .NET constructor node and giving an mscorlib class GUID to the GUID property, than calling OpenConnection method from an invoke node referencing the SimpleUSB reference. But there is no valid connection to the device as DeviceConnected parameter return "False".
I am using LabVIEW 8.6 trial, .NET Framework 3.5. So they are up to date I guess. Is there a limitation of these for using .NET dll? And also I can use the dll in Visual C# successfully.
At first there was another problem using the .NET constructor node in LabVIEW because of Vista OS.  The vi was blocking when i added the node to the vi. I changed the "language & regional settings" to English(USA). The problem seemed to be solved. Can Vista's bug be still a problem?
Is there anyone who  has used Freescale's SimpleUSB.dll and DEMOJM board with LabVIEW?
I will be thankfull for your helps.
    Emre

    Hello Anna,
Here is one of my poor vi trials.   I have also tried putting some conditionals in some other files but it didn't helped.

Here is a link for the Freescale's DEMOJM board. It shows how to make a GUI for the board using SimpleUSB.dll & C#.  You can also download the dll from that web page and there is helpfull documentation for the dll.
    http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=USBJM_TRAINING&nodeId=016246fNrgVJ4Cx...
I am trying to make the same thing with Labview instead of C#. But I am not familiar with the SW issues so am in trouble.
    Thanks,

  • ISE 1.2 configuration issues

    Fellow ISE users,
We are standing up a new ISE instance using ISE1.2 on VM's.  We already have another one for a dedicated purpose on 1.1 and had no issues like what I am seeing here.
Issue one = unable to register nodes to the deployment, it keeps telling me to check server and CA certificate.  I have loaded a CA cert from our internal microsoft CA server, same server I used in the other deployment and the servers accept it.  Also when browsing to it https comes up with no errors so it seems to be working for https, not sure on EAP.  Ideas?
Issue two = unable to find any groups in our AD a search brings back nothing.  I was able to join it to our AD domain and it shows green, but none of the attempts to bring in a group have worked, again have done this a bunch with our 1.1 deployment so I know how it works.  Ideas?
Anyway I do have a TAC case open on this but trying to get it resolved quickly due to some internation travel coming up where I will need deploy it.

    Hi
When you deploy Cisco ISE in a standalone, or in a distributed environment for the first time, you are prompted to run the setup utility to configure the Cisco ISE appliance. Here, you will configure the Domain Name System (DNS) domain and the primary nameserver (primary DNS server), where you can configure one primary nameserver, and one or more nameservers during setup. You can also change, or add DNS nameservers later after deploying Cisco ISE using the CLI commands. For more information please go through this link:

  • NAC Agent Login Dialog Not Appearing - ISE 1.1.1 issue ?

Agent Fails to Initiate Posture Assessment
The NAC agent is properly installed on a Windoes 7 , IE 9 machine, the certificates from ISE ADM PRI are installed in trustable certificate store in the client machine but is a selfsigned ISE certificate.
The reports / USER / Profiling report says the Provisioning Agent has completed the assessment ok.
The redirected URL is working fine (SEE Evidence)
We are always prompted to install the NAC agent again or looking at the additional prompted information wait for the NAC agent to load and complete.
The operations status remains with postering status pending forever and nothing else happens.
    Symptoms or Issue
The agent login dialog box does not appear to the user following client provisioning.
Conditions Cisco Says this issue can generally take place during the posture assessment phase of any user
    authentication session.
Cisco Advises as Possible Causes There are multiple possible causes for this type of issue. See the following
Resolution descriptions for details of what was already tested by us and please see the atached files for your switch configuration and evidences. .
CISCO SUGGESTED POSSIBLE CAUSES AND RESOLUTIONS
Resolution • Ensure that the agent is running on the client machine. ALL TESTED OK
    • Ensure that the Cisco IOS release on the switch is equal to or more recent than
Cisco IOS Release 12.2.(53)SE. - OK
    • Ensure that the discovery host address on the Cisco NAC agent or Mac OS X
agent is pointing to the Cisco ISE FQDN. (Right-click on the NAC agent icon,
choose Properties, and check the discovery host.) - OK (See evidence)
    • Ensure that the access switch allows Swiss communication between Cisco ISE
and the end client machine. Limited access ACL applied for the session should
allow Swiss ports: ALL CONFIGURED as CISCO GUIDELINES OK (SEE EVIDENCE)
    • If the agent login dialog still does not appear, it could be a certificate issue.
Ensure that the certificate that is used for Swiss communication on the end client
is in the Cisco ISE certificate trusted list. (ALL CHECKED OK SEE EVIDENCE)
    • Ensure that the default gateway is reachable from the client machine. (TESTED OK)

    Hi.
Can you paste all the ACLs on your switch especially the webauth redirect ACL which should deny traffic towards the PSN.

  • ISE and authenticating against Windows AD with RADIUS realm that is different from the Windows domain

    Hello
We are in the process of evaluating the Cisco ISE VMWare appliance with a view to replace our existing FreeRADIUS installation as authentication provider for our wireless network and VPN service. As a part of this we are hoping to migrate our user authentication to Microsoft Active Directory - we have previously authenticated against a different identity store (not MS AD).  Because of this legacy our Windows domain is not the same as our RADIUS realm name - the Windows domain is "win.mydomain" whereas we wish to allow users to authenticate using "username@mydomain" or even "[email protected]" as they are doing today. We are experiencing an issue where authentication requests with the format "[email protected]" will be forwarded to the Windows AD whereas authentication requests with the format "username@mydomain" will fail with the log message "User not found in Active Directory". We do not know if the ISE itself is validating the username and triggering this error, or if the error originates from AD. We suspect the that the ISE is not even asking AD because "win.mydomain" is the domain configured in "Active Directory" in "External Identity Sources".
Authentication requests against the AD without a realm are successful (that is, using only "username"). With this in mind we located a post on the Cisco support forums that described a process of proxying the request back to the ISE and strip the realm information, but this was specific for the ACS platform. We have attempted to implement this solution but it is still not working as we would have hoped, and we are not entirely certain where the fault might lie. We are currently using PEAP with MSCHAPv2 for authentication in our WLAN where the main problem is. We suspect that the "proxy-to-self" with realm stripping is an issue with PEAP.
Is there a supported method of achieving our goal, or should we abandon the ISE platform as our scenario is simply not supported?

Seems like your issue maybe related to DNS, when ISE receives the format [email protected], the dns request is failing. However, there is a setting for alternate UPN Suffixes that can be configured to include domain.com and student.domain.com.
Here is a windows article that should fix this for you. Once you get this updated please reboot ISE so it rejoins AD. Try your tests again.

  • ISE and NAC wireless guest networks

I have a wireless network that is NAC controlled and use lobby ambassador for guest wireless. What is the best way to migrate to ISE for guest. Are there problems running NAC and ISE on the same controller?
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App

    Hello,
For your query regarding ISE and NAC following are my  findings, which might help you in order to solve your query.
    for your first question:-
ISE is a free software upgrade for customers who have NAC appliance or NAC profiler. This is for both for the base and advance licenses.
ISE is a 50% software discount for customers who have  NAC guest server. The 50% discount is a migration part for the base license only. The advance features license will not be impacted by this discount.
    for your second question:-
There should be no issues running NAC and ISE on the same controller until and unless you are using two SSIDs.

    hello all,
We're currently implementing Cisco Unified Communications side to side with ISE.
there is a profile set on ISE for the phones.

  • ISE and 802.1x - Retrieve User Cert from AD for Auth without it being in the Personal Store?

    Hello,
We are implementing 802.1x EAP-TLS wired at the moment with Cisco ISE, and wireless is to come after that, along with our internal PKI.  I set up the PKI, and our network engineer is setting up the ISE.  We currently have it set to first authenticate the computers with a computer certificate (allowing access to AD, among some other things), and then further authenticate the users with user certificates.
I don't have much knowledge of Cisco ISE, and plan to learn as we go, but I'm wondering:
Is it possible to authenticate the computer via the computer certificate, getting access to AD, and then have the ISE check AD for the User certificate INSTEAD of the User certificate being in the local Personal store of the client computer?  We have autoenrollment going for user certificates, but it seems to be cumbersome (in thought) that once 802.1x is enabled, a new computer/employee coming on the network has to first go to an unauthenticated port to be able to download the User certificate in the Personal store, before then being able to use an 802.1x port?
I guess that makes two questions:
    1) Can ISE pull the user cert from AD, without needing it in the local Personal store?
    2) What's the easiest way to handle new computers/users that don't already have the User cert in their local Personal store once 802.1x is enabled?

    1)No
    2)Use EAP-Chaining with EAP-TLS and PEAP
For this scenario, i would go with Cisco AnyConnect NAM, and then use EAP-Chaining, with EAP-TLS for machine auth, and then PEAP for user authentication. This way you can make sure that both the machine and the user is authenticated, and more importantly, that a user can not get on the network with their user identity only and no machine identity. Using windows own supplicant for this, gives no garantee that the user has logged in from an authenticated machine. The feature that used to be used for this before EAP-Chaining was introduced, is called MAR, and has many problems, making it almost useless in a corporate environment. Security wise, the PEAP-MSCHAPV2 is tunneled in EAP-FAST and does not have the same security issues as regular PEAP.

  • Is ASA integration with ISE and RSA for 2 factor authentication a valid/tested design

    Hi,
Customer currently uses ASA to directly integrate with RSA kind of solution to provide 2 factor authentication mechanism for VPN user access.  We're considering to introduce ISE to this picture, and to offload posture analysis from ASA to ISE.  And the flow we're thinking is to have ASA interface to ISE and ISE interface to RSA and AD backend infrastructure.  And we still need the 2 factor authentication to work, i.e., customer gets a SMS code in addition to its login username and password.  I'm wondering if ASA/ISE/RSA/AD integrated solution (and with 2 factor authentication to work) is a tested solution or Cisco validate design?  Any potential issue may break the flow?
Thanks in advance for any input!
    Tina

    Hi,
I have an update for this quite broad question.
I have now came a bit further on the path.
Now the needed Radius Access Attribute are available in ISE after adding them in
    "Policy Elements" -> "Dictionaris" -> "System" -> "Radius" -> "Cisco-VPN3000".
I added both the attribute 146 Tunnel-Group-Name which I realy need to achive what I want(select diffrent OTP-backends depending on Tunnel Group in ASA) and the other new attribute 150 Client-Type which could be intresting to look at as well.
Here the "Diagnostics Tools" -> "Generel tools" -> "TCP Dump" and Wireshare helped me understand how this worked.
With that I could really see the attributes in the radius access requests going in to the ASA.
Now looking at a request in "Radius Authentication details" I have
    Other Attributes:
    ConfigVersionId=29,Device Port=1025,DestinationPort=1812,RadiusPacketType=AccessRequest,Protocol=Radius,CVPN3000/ASA/PIX7.x-Tunnel-Group-Name=SMHI-TG-RA-ISESMS,CVPN3000/ASA/PIX7.x-Client-Type=,CPMSessionID=ac100865000006294FD60A7F,.....
Ok, the tunnel group name attribute seems to be understood correct, but Client-Type just say =, no value for that.
That is strange, I must have defined that wrong(?), but lets leave that for now, I do not really need it for the moment being.
So now when I have this Tunnel-Group-Name attribute available I want to use it in my Rule-Based Authentication Policy.
Problem now is that as soon as I in an expression add a criteria containing Cisco-VPN3000:CVPN3000/ASA/PIX7.x-Tunnel-Group-Name matches .* (just anything), then that row does not match any more. It still work matching against NAS-IP and other attributes.
What could it be I have missed?
    Best regards
    /Mattias

  • CWA using ISE and mobility anchor

My team is trying to demo wireless guest access using CWA with an ISE server.  We appear to be hitting an issue when combining this with mobility anchoring.
When we don't use a mobility anchor the authentication goes off without a hitch seemingly proving that the ISE configuration is sound.  The test laptop associates and gets redirected, auths, moves to the RUN state and access to the network is granted.
When the mobility anchor is enabled, the test laptop does get redirected, authentication is successful, but the process does not fully complete, as on the foreign controller the user is in RUN state whereas on the anchor the user is still stuck at CWA required.
Now, I've read the L2 auth occurs between the foreign controller and ISE, and the L3 auth occurs between the anchor controller and ISE, but this does not appear to borne out in packet captures of the process where both parts of the auth seems to go to and from the foreign controller and ISE.
I'm curious to know if anyone else has come across this issue, or has ideas where I should be looking in the config or debugs to find the root cause.
When setting up the controllers and ISE this guide (linked below) was used and the controllers are 2504 controllers on 7.5 series software and ISE is on the latest 1.2 patches:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps11640/products_configuration_example09186a0080bead09.shtml
To me it seems to be mobility related, but the authentication flow does seem to be off compared with what the guide says.

  • Cisco ISE and WLC Access-List Design/Scalability

    Hi,
I have a scenario whereby wireless clients are authenticated by the ISE and different ACLs are applied to it based on the rules on ISE. The problem I seems to be seeing is due to the limitation on the Cisco WLC which limit only 64 access-list entries. As the setup has only a few SVI/interfaces and multiple different access-lists are applied to the same interface base on the user groups; I was wondering if there may be a scalable design/approach whereby the access-list entries may scale beside creating a vlan for each user group and applying the access-list on the layer 3 interface instead? I have illustrated the setup below for reference:
User group 1 -- Apply ACL 1 --On Vlan 1
    User group 2 -- Apply ACL 2 -- On Vlan 1
    User group 3 -- Apply ACL 3 -- On Vlan 1
The problem is only seen for wireless users, it is not seen on wired users as the ACLs may be applied successfully without any limitation to the switches.
    Any suggestion is appreciated.
    Thanks.

Actually, you have limitations on the switch side as well. Lengthy ACLs can deplete the switch's TCAM resources. Take a look at this link:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/catalyst-3750-series-switches/68461-high-cpu-utilization-cat3750.html
The new WLCs that are based on IOS XE and not the old Wireless/Aironet OS will provide the a better experience when it comes to such issues.
Overall, I see three ways to overcome your current issue:
    1. Shrink the ACLs by making them less specific
    2. Utilize the L3 interfaces on a L3 switch or FW and apply ACLs there
    3. Use SGT/SGA
    Hope this helps!
