No, I don't think so. The 90-day duration is based on the Cisco ISE system clock.

Hello,I need to change the hostname of our ISE install. TAC stated I need to use the command of application reset-config ise to do so. I was wondering if my old license files can be reused or do I need to get new ones from Cisco. I have a case open, but this work is being done this evening so I need an answer as soon as possible. Thank you for the quick reply. I would just like to clarify that I can use the license files that were sent to me when we initially purchased the product. I have to do the work tonight and don't want to hose my installation if I need to get new license files from Cisco.

ISE Application won't start after upgrading to 1.2

Hi,
we have a customer which is using a ISE-3315 Hardware appliance running 1.1.4.218 Patch 1. He needed to upgrade to 1.2 Patch 2 to support iOS7. There is no secondary appliance so this is a standalone deployment.
We did the upgrade according to Cisco documents (backup, patching the current to the latest patch, performing the upgrade). This all seems to have successfully gone through. I can access the CLI via SSH but the application services are not going to start. I tried to stop and start the services (application stop ise/ application start ise) but I get the following message:
ise/admin# application start ise
Waiting up to 20 seconds for lock: APP_START to complete
Database is still locked by lock: APP_START. Aborting. Please try it later
% Error: Another ISE DB process (APP_START) is in progress, cannot perform Application Start at this time
I waited for half a day but it stayed the same. Also commands like application configure or application config-reset do not work. restarting the ISE did not work aswell.
Has anyone encountered this problem and solved it? My next Idea would be a clean re install of ISE 1.2 and then restoring the backup.

The we have the same problem - it doesn't seems if Cisco cares to solve this obius prblem with new upgrade images on CCO...
After 4 Hours of update of a stand-alone-VM the processes failed to start even waiting for 12 hours.
The Update seems to have successfully gone through, we can access the CLI via SSH,
but the application services are not going to start.

I cannot download a new Version because in my Purchased List the applicaiton (FaceTime) is still there, and because I have halted it it tells me to resume. I can’t, because the same thing is going to happen. I have tried all the various troubleshooting tips supplied by my ISP and also Apple Support with no luck. I am currently working on a IMac OS 10.6.7. Has anybody got any ideas? Any suggestion would help. Thanks

Not much consolation but even new products can have issues and might need a trip to a store to return/replace.
The reason i asked about the LED on the AppleTV is that occasionally it thinks it's paired with a specific remote and ignores others - the unpair keypress I described is quick and free.

Cisco ISE 1.2 Ise Application doesn´t install

I am trying to install Cisco ISE on a VMWare Paltform, and the installation goes OK for the ADE-OS (The Os is installed, but the ISE application doesn´t install.
Any Hint in how to solve that ?

Hi all,
Thank for your answers, the problem was that the ISO image on the Cisco software repository was corrupted. I finally did a md5 check, and downloaded the image 4 times.
The for images download matched the md5 checksums between themselves, but not the Cisco webpage. Finally a TAC engineer had to publish the image form me, and when downloaded from this link It matched the CCO md5 and it worked fine.

ISE application server not running

My ISE appliance application server not running, even reboot still the same, any reason?

I saw suspicious from logs, anyone experience this before? I coudn't find this ise ErrorCode: -999 from the Cisco KE database.

Pressing the Web Icon in Applications resets my TX

I've been successfully accessing Wi-Fi for a couple of days, and now, when I press the Web icon to get to mail bookmarks, the unit goes black and resets itself. Prior to the first time this happened, I had been opening e-mail and forwarding some of them to other addresses. I am assuming that I will have to do a hard reset and reload everything (when I get home - I am currently on vacation - which is the reason for the heavy mail viewing) - but, hopefully, someone has a remedy. Hi, 2 questions:
1) When you checked your emails and were forwarding those emails were you doing this by going to your email website or doing this through VersaMail or some other email application ?
2) Are you getting resets at any other times and with any other applications, not just when you launch an app ?
When you try to launch any application and your Palm resets it generally means either:
• The application is not compatible with your Palm. Obviously, Blazer (Web) is compatible
or
• Your Prefs database is corrupt
or
• On NVFS Palms only (like the TX) the dbCache is too full and needs to be cleared
Do you use a backup to card application like NVBackup @

If yes then hopefully you have a backup that was made when Blazer (Web) was working ok, try a 'Restore' of that backup. This will restore a Prefs database that is not corrupt.
It is always best to do a Soft Reset before using Blazer especially when you are going to be doing a lot of work because on NVFS Palms (like the TX) the dbCache fills up and needs to be cleared.
But then, I guess you have already tried pressing the Web icon again after your TX reset itself so that has already been tried
You could also try a Blazer Spring Clean using a FileManager like FileZ @

If you can eventually launch Blazer change your Start With: setting to Blank Page.

Applications reseting themselves to original settings :/

Hi, for some reason my applications seem to be reseting themselves to the original out the installer settings, for example azureus, one minuite it was fine set up in classic mode interface seeding several torrents and also d/l, then i relaunched it and it loaded the the normal vuse beta version and all my torrents had gone, same with itunes i got all the accept/decline licence ect.. and all my music had gone (music files still in the iTunes folder) then came firefox all my pimpin had gone and it was back to bog standard normal.. if i change it it might stay for a couple of reloads but then it just resets itself again... it hasnt affected any other app's that i know of yet. So if anybody can enlighten me of what the **** is going on that would be great!

ISE Application backup error

Getting this error while taking Cisco ISE backup.
Has anyone seen this?What is the solution? Tried with tftp/sftp repositories.

Looks like you're trying to take FULL backup.
What kind of deployment you've? I think you have primary PAP and Primary Mnt on the same node.
Please do "show disk" for checking up the space and "show backup history"
Can you download from the GUI the following three log files and send them to me:
Ise-psc.log
Catalina.out
ADE.log
Let me know if you have any query.

My applications reset and I'm missing files

I cant remember what I was doing, but I think I was trying to install windows media player plugin, (I've tried before with no success), or possibly an osx update from a prompt. after a restart, I noticed my desktop image and dock was set back to default, and then I noticed that my settings and all my bookmarks on my web browser were gone, then I noticed all my music in itunes was gone! then I noticed all my pictures in iphoto were gone!! all the applications are still there, they're just all back to default settings. all the other files in my hard drive are still there, and I've done searches for my missing music with no success.
has anybody ever heard of this?

Be more specific as to WHERE you searched on your computer.
In your HOME Users folder: did you check deep within the Music and Pictures folders? If there are folders named iTunes Library or iPhoto Library, just drag them back into the appropriate Application.
Did you accidently do an Archive installation? Are there any folders labeled "Previous ...."? How about "Old Users Accounts"? Did you try using Spotlight or the contextual File/Find from the Finder window?
Your stuff is somewhere on that computer; just be patient and methodical.
Keep us informed. Some "Genius" in this vast audience has your solution.

Applications keep resetting?

Hi,
I am having a problem with my applications resetting and can't seem to figure out or find how to fix it.
I have two users on my computer, me and my husband. My husband doesn't have this problem when logged onto his side. When I log into my side applications such as firefox, itunes etc show that I have just installed or updated to the latest version. So I go through the welcome stuff and close it as you always do when applications are reinstalled/updated. But then when I close the applications and reopen them I have to go through the same thing every time. In Safari I downloaded a picture a while ago and it shows on my downloads bar...I keep clearing this and it keeps showing up again. It seems that my applications are resetting every time I close them/log off/shut down. If anybody has any solutions/suggestions that would be great because this is a huge hassle,

As a test create a new user account. Log into this new account and see if the problem stops. Also, do you have any of your applications installed outside of the Applications folder and/or installed using drag and drop rather than an installer? In the case of using drag and drop the application takes on the permissions of the user who installed it rather than the correct permissions for the Applications folder. FireFox is an example. You can try selecting the FireFox icon then press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the Ownership and Sharing section FireFox will not have the default permissions which are:
Owner=system with r/w privileges
Group=admin with r/w privileges
Everyone with read-only privileges
I'm curious to know what you actually find.

ISE 1.2 patch 6 - All Authentications begin failing after about 20 minutes

Hi all,
Another strange one I am throwing out to the forum. Basically I have a 5 node deployment (1 x Primary Admin, 1 x Primary Monitoring, 1 x Secondary Admin/Monitoring and 2 x Policy Nodes). The primary authentication method is EAP-TLS or PEAP for wireless only. The deployment in question has been in pilot for about 3 weeks with no issues what so ever.
As of this morning we rolled into production and all seemed well - about 100 users successfully authed against PSN1 (PSN2 is configured in the WLC as a secondary radius). About 30 minutes after the production rollout authentications began failing for the exact same reason (see attached radius log). I checked all of the certificates as recommended in the log but this was a matter of course in that everything is as it should be.
My next step was to essentially stop PSN1 (application stop ise) to see if the issue was a problem on the second PSN. All authentications were now succeeding via PSN2. I left it this way for 30 minutes with no drama. I started PSN1 again and authentications began to work....20 minutes later the issue was back. I replicated this issue again to be sure.
At this point I decided to deregister PSN1 and application reset the node before rejoining with the ISE deployment. Authentications worked well until about 30 minutes later when the issue reappeared. At this point I reloaded all nodes in the ISE deployment to see if this made a difference but the issue still remained.
Currently I have PSN1 shutdown and all is functioning well - anyone have any ideas??

I got this fixed via TAC. Basically the following is the bug but it is worth noting that this deployment was a fresh build of 1.2

Symptom:
all auth fails when using the existing identity source sequences after upgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.2.
Conditions:
upgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.2 build 899 breaks all auth using identity sequences.
Basically the fix was to recreate my ID sequences and reapply to the authentication policy. This fixed the issue on the policy node in question.

Meaning of this error (ISE 1.2 on SNS-3415): HARDWARE RNG INTEGRITY CHECK HAS FAILED!

Hi. We recently purchased an ISE 1.2 appliance (SNS-3415 hardware). It installed fine, but I am unable to access the GUI. When I login to the box and run the following command on the CLI

I see the following output:

Can anyone help me? What can I do to ensure that the hardware RNG integrity check succeeds. Is it a license issue? Is it faulty hardware? Please advise. I would be very greatful.

I worked with a TAC engineer on this and he said one other customer had this issue and the only recourse was reimaging the appliance with the ISE 1.2 ISO image.
I did reboot, restarted services, reset to factory default and none of that worked. It is possible that the issue happened because during setup of the appliance I didn't have network connectivity and went ahead with the setup and configuration of the ISE application anyway. I later had network connectivity but by that time ISE manifested this fault.
Reimaging and ensuring network connectivity during setup the next time around fixed the problem.

Broken ISE deployment

Hi all,
I need to change the IP addresses in an ISE 1.2 HA deployment (a primary/secondary pair). The tricky part is that the deployment was broken before I could get my hands on the servers.
I can make the primary server stand alone, and perform the address change, but for the secondary server I do not seem to have that option.
So what is the proper procedure to be able to reconfigure the IP address of a "broken" secondary server?

Hi Walfors,
The good part here is that you are able to successfully make your Primary node as standalone. You can take the backup of this standalone node to be on safer side.
Normally when you perform the deregister operation from Primary ISE node, then the secondary node will be turned to standalone and you will be having a safe standalone node.
As you are saying that your secondary node even after de-registering from primary it is still in Secondary mode and you cannot do any operations to this Secondary node.
If you are having concern about the certificates then I would recommend to take the backup of certificates by logging into secondary node GUI and go to Administration -->Server Certificates -->Click on the certificate you want to export and then click on export button.
Now you are good to perform the reset-config operation on your secondary ISE node. Go to CLI and trigger the command "application reset-config ise ". This command will reset all your exisiting data with the default data .
Once after succesful completion of reset-config operation then if required you can restore the certificates that were exported and then join this node back to the deployment.
This way is the clean setup process.
If you do not want to perform the reset-config operation and need to be debugged further why the deployment is broken I would suggest you to raise service request with TAC .
