ISE backup ignoring subdirectory defined in repository

Greetings,
I have a repository configured like this:
repository Solarwinds_SFTP_SERVER1
  url sftp://server1/ISE/
user ISE password hash <password hash>
  host-key host server1
When I test with show repository, everything works correctly, I see the files in the ISE subdirectory:
# sh repository Solarwinds_SFTP_SERVER1
AdminFullDaily-131002-0100.tar.gpg
AdminFullDaily-131003-0100.tar.gpg
AdminFullDaily-131004-0100.tar.gpg
ise_catalog.xml
repolock.cfg
Test-131004-1044.tar.gpg
However, when I run a manual or scheduled backup, the ISE subdirectory is ignored, the files land in the root dir of the sftp server.
Any ideas? We are version 1.1.4 patch 2. We can't move to a newer patch until a separate issue is resolved.

Can you get the following debugs from ACS and SFTP.
debug transfer 7
debug copy 7
Corresponding logs from the sftp server.
enable the debugs on the ACS and run the command again to take backup.

  • ISE Backup Issue

    Hi,
I've initiated a Full on demand Backup of my Administration node yet nearly 24 hours later I've still got nothing in teh Backup History and when checking the logs I can this message pretty much every hour on the hour
Exiting DB cleanup as ISE backup or restore is in progress
I've tried to view the Repository via the CLI interface and the command hangs as does the Write Memory command.
Does anyone know how to kill the Backup process or if this behaviour is normal?
    Thanks
    Jason

    Hi Jason !
Due to the size of the Monitoring database, the backup process can take a while to complete. To save
time, you can perform incremental backups, after first completing an initial full database backup. A
recommended step, purging unwanted data during the backup process permanently deletes data from the
database, and can be configured as an automatic process.
More over please do the following in CLI application status ise, application stop ise, application start ise.

  • JCO RFC Server - defining a repository

    Hi,
We're creating an RFC listener through JCO, and I'm not entirely sure where definitions for the RFCs go.  Originally, we had the RFC definitions defined as stubbed out shell Functions, and in the Java code as a JCO.MetaData repository definition as well.  It seems like the stubs in SAP don't actually matter, and it only needs the JCO.MetaData functions, but I'm not sure.
While I'm at it, if it is possible to not actually define the parameters to an RFC in a java-side repository, that would be great.  We're planning on supporting Unicode, and those MetaData definitions look scary.
    Thanks,
    Corey

I think I just answered my own question.  Can someone verify?
You have to define the repository on the Java side, and there should be no matching remote enabled function on the SAP side <i>if </i> you want a static repository.
If you want a dynamic repository, then the remote enabled RFCs must exist on the SAP side, and a connection from Java to the SAP system must exist so that the repository may be dynamically retrieved.
    Is this all correct?

  • ISE backup restore hanging

I'm trying to restore ISE backup using the FTP server and it hangs at 80% showing the following message:
    performing ISE database synchup...80% completed

    Couple of questions:
    1. How long did you give the system to complete restore?
    2. Are you restoring the admin db or the monitor one?
    3. Are you restoring a backup taken from the same version of ISE that is running on the new device?

  • ISE backup not working while using tftp

I have configured a repository on ISE admin node to use tftp for taking backups.
    repository master
      url tftp://<IP>
I initiate backup on demand to use the defined repository and specify Application-only backup. After sometime, I see success on ISE node and "show backup history" also shows success
    ise/admin#    sh backup history
Thu Sep 27 06:12:43 UTC 2012: backup backup1-120927-060253.tar.gpg to repository master: success
Thu Sep 27 07:31:56 UTC 2012: backup backup1-120927-072227.tar.gpg to repository master: success
However, when I check on tftp server, I see nothing. No files with names backup1-120927-060253.tar.gpg or backup1-120927-072227.tar.gpg...Has anybody else seen similar issue? Is there a bug with tftp server backup on ISE nodes?
    Thanks,
    Kashish

    Kashish,
Can you try moving a small file over to the tftp server? Check the directory of the local disk and issue a a copy disk:/file tftp:/path.
See if that moves a file over. I havent personally used tftp I always use ftp.

  • Cisco ISE backup failing

Has anyone seen this error while taking backup of Cisco ISE?
An error has occurred: CARS_XM_SSH_CONNECT : -306 : SSH connect error
Connectivity to repository is fine as I can see repository contents when I do : "show repository <repository name>", but while taking backup, I am seeing above error...Repository has RW permissions for everybody. Any ideas?

did we change the sftp server recently? What vendor are we using? In case you have solarwinds then make sure you have scp and sftp both the protocols selected.
    Solarwinds server config
File>configure>General Tab>Allowed Protocols>Select "Both" from Dropdown to select SCP and SFTP.

  • Define FSDB repository in a Collaboration Room?

I have a CM Repository (pointing to fileserver, where the files are stored)
Now, I want to create a room template, with an room extension to use this repository in "documents" section.
I created the room template with room extension according this guide:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f0496f69-cb70-2910-21a6-c4cf2cc66311
The "Documents" iView, create a subfolder from my CM Repository.
But I want the room can see directly this repository, is possible???
    thanks in advance,
Edited by: Leandro  Balboni on Jun 6, 2008 1:02 PM

Yes, you can certainly do this.  Typically document areas in a collaboration room are provisioned automatically, but you can include a KM Navigation IView in either the room template or the room extenstion template that points at a 'hard-coded' KM folder.
In this case, you would pre-define the properties of the KM Navigation IView after you add it to the template workset, and you would not use the Collaboration Room Template mapping function.
    Does this help at all?

  • Cisco ISE Backup

    Hi All
When I take a backup of primary, just the application backup, it is more than 10GB.
Is that normal. I noticed there are no purge settings configured. But since this is just application backup, the monitoring logs should be considered under this right?
    Thanks

What is the current version of ISE software you are using. Are these backups for Admin or MnT nodes.  Did you ever turn on the debugs logs while troublehsooting an issue? Anyway, the backup size is pretty large, should be an issue with the huge log files? There is also a manual option to purge from the CLI using "application configure ise".

  • Problem changing ISE backup schedules

    Hi -
I had configured our ISE running v1.2 (patch 5) to run weekly backups for both the Configuration and Operational data via the GUI.  This initial setting worked flawlessly.  The issue I am seeing is that I now cannot change the frequency of these backups.  The GUI allows me to change the settings and reports no errors doing so.  The GUI even displays the new schedule (daily in this case), but unfortunately I still end up with it performing the backups only weekly.  Has anyone else experienced this and/or have a suggestion what to look for?

Hi - thanks for the reply.
So, do I understand you to mean that you are stuck with the very first backup frequency you set in the GUI and can not ever change it later?  That sounds very odd to me.
You say "You  can create only one schedule at a time..." - that is ok, but the key was "at a time".  I simply want to change what I have now from weekly to daily.
By the way, I can change the backup starting and ending days in the GUI calendar without any problem, but within the timeframe I specify (one month for instance), I still get only weekly backups after I change the frequency to daily.

  • ISE Backup. How long should be a file?

    Hi:
I'm doing a backup remotely to and ISE standalone with minimal configuration, just for Guest Wireless Service. It is taking a long time ...
Usually what size should be a backup file?

As you are connected to ISE via VPN, so I believe due to slow internet connection which usually happens and VPN always slow down the speed and consumes lot of bandwidth. This might be the reason of taking lots of time to take backup of ISE.
If you try connecting your PC directly into the same subnet where ISE exist, it will take very less time.
And moreover file size does not matter, instead of  the medium through which you are connected, that matters.

  • CVS "update" ignores new files in Repository ?

    Hi there.
We are using CVS as versioning system with JDeveloper.
But when doing a "update" from within JDeveloper (on a package or directory) it seems that new files
existing in the repository (added and committed from a second computer) are be extracted from the

Is there any way to change this or do we have to do an update with e.g WinCVS and add nes files manually to

  • Numbers ignores previously defined custom keyboard shortcut

I used the System Preferences->Keyboard to set a keyboard shortcut for Numbers. I defined ^; to insert the current date: "Date & Time". It worked fine, until the next time I started Numbers. The short cut was shown in the menu, but it would not respond to the keyboard. I went back the to the Keyboard Preferences and set it again, while Numbers was running, and it worked. I repeated a few different ways, essentially I have to redefine the Keyboard shortcut after each time that I start Numbers, even though the menu shows the appropriate shortcut. Is this a known bug or do I have another problem?
