ISE Guest CWA with Smart Phones

I've configured the Guest Web Authentication in the ISE and I've tested and every thing is working fine. I got the redirect url, I could authentication and then got an access. However, If I got the redirect url and then disconnect from the guest SSID and connect to another SSID on the same WLC (not associated to the ISE) and then connect back to the guest SSID, I'm not getting the redirect url.
I've checked the ISE and I noticed that the radius session is not terminated if I disconnected  from the SSID. I tried to add an attribute in the authorization profile to have radius idle timeout, it did work and the ISE initiate new session ID, but the smartphone is not getting the url.
Anyone have/had this issue ?

I've done a test with CWA + open SSID and I don't see the problem. (iPod, latest SW update, pretty old HW)
My steps:
1) connected to CWA SSID and it asked me to register, provided my username and password to see if they are correct
2) disconnected (connected to openSSID) without registering.
3) Checked reachablity over openSSID
4) reconnected to the CWA one.
5) Got redirected automatically.
Did I miss anything? Any more steps you've done?
M.

  • Video quality difficulties with Vimeo and Youtube sites and with smart phone

Ever since the Vimeo and Youtube sites have changed, it has been pretty difficult to get the video quality I had before. I'm using Final Cut Express to edit, Quicktime Player to resize the video to 640x480 (is too wide when saving FCE project as Quicktime movie), and Jes Deinterlacer to remove all of the jaggies that the original deinterlacing on FCE doesn't fully do (skateboarding video). I'm aware Final Cut Express 4 is a discontinued product, and Apple support over the phone can't help me. The quality is TERRIBLE on my smart phone, and used to be really good before the site changed. The Vimeo app played my videos very clear. I'm using a MyTouch smart phone. I want to know if the quality being bad on mobile is because of the sites being changed, and if there is anything I can do to get the quality I want. I've worked on this the past three weeks, and this is my final option, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Here are the steps I'm using to export (still trying more export options in Jes Deinterlacer).
Step 1: In FCE, click "File", "Export", "Quicktime Movie". In "Include:", choose "Audio and Video", "All Markers" for "Markers:", and check box "Make Movie Self-Contained".
Step 2: Open file in QT Player. Click "Window" (at the top between "View" and "Help"), and choose "Show Movie Properties". Click "Video Track", and click "Visual Settings". Change the dimensions (which are supposed to be 720x480 4:3 but the video is stretched). Enter "640 x 480" for "Scaled Size:", then same with "Offset:" Keep "Preserve Aspect Ratio" unchecked, then when finished entering numbers check it (doesn't let you uncheck it which would be best). Check the "High Quality" box if it hasn't already been checked. Close the window, and click "File", and then "Save".
Step 3: Open file in Jes Deinterlacer. In "Input", check box "Reinterlace Chroma", choose "Video range", and check "Remove Jaggies". For "Project", choose "Deinterlace" and "Use Bottom Field". Check "Adaptive", "Local", and "Filter Chroma". In "Output", choose "Video range". Choose "Export", and "Mpeg-4". For "File Format:" choose "MP4", for "Video Format:" choose "H.264", and for "Data Rate:" enter "2000" for "kbits/sec". Leave "Optimized for:" "Download" as is. Choose "640x480 VGA" for "Image Size:", and "Current" for "Frame Rate:". For "Key Frame:" choose "Every", and enter "24" for "frames". Click "Video Options". Leave the "Main" box checked, and check "Baseline" for "Restrict Profile(s) to:". Choose "Best Quality (Multi-pass)" for "Encoding Mode:". Click "Ok". Click "Audio" (since done with "Video"). For "Audio Format:" choose "AAC-LC (Music), for "Data Rate:" choose "320 kbps", for "Channels:" leave as "Stereo", for "Output Sample Rate:" choose "44.100 kHz", and for "Encoding Quality:" choose "Best". Click "Ok" (leave "Streaming" alone).

First, I would do a Search on this forum for "FRAPS." There are several articles with comments on the best workflow and also settings for Import and for Export.
Next, YouTube is trobulesome. First, they re-encode everything and their specs seem to change weekly. It's tough to find out what they want on any given day. I'd go to their site and get the very latest instructions and attempt to duplicate those perfectly, knowing that they might be different tomorrow.
Good luck with this one, and good luck with the FRAPS footage.

  • Wired Guest CWA with ISE

Having a heck of a time getting this to work.
First option is for the device to try and authenticate using Dot1X/EAP-TLS - for domain-connected devices only.
If that fails, they want the option to pop a CWA portal where they can enter either AD creds, or internal Guest user creds.
My challenge is the Policies and where to insert.
I'm using Policy Sets in ISE 1.2
Currently, I have these statements in the Default Policy Set:
    Rule Name
    Conditions
    Permissions
    Wired Guest Portal Auth
if Net Access:UseCase EQUALS Guest Flow
    Permit Access
    Wired Guest Redirect
    if Wired_MAB
    Wired CWA
What i figured is if they fail the .1X, they'll drop down here to Wired MAB, and that will initiate a redirect and Guest Flow.
    Couple problems:
First, it does seem to try; a show auth sess shows the proper redirect URL getting sent to the switchport.
Unfortunately, my browser pop gives me a certificate not recognized error, and if i try to continue anyways, it doesn't do anything. Wireless Guest, which I copied works fine.
Second challenge is that it forces the redirect whether i have the switch (NAD) in Monitor Mode or Low Impact Mode.  This is a problem because there are multiple sites, and we're cutting each over to Low Impact progressively.
Does anyone have any insight, or a document laying out in step by step terms implementing this?
    thanks in advance.

Hi Andrew! Yes, good job on fixing the portal issue!
And yes, the authorization rules are considered even in an open mode! And you are also correct that you will need to create different rules to account for NADs that are in production and for NADs that are in monitor mode. I have always liked using a separate Policy Set for Monitor Mode and a separate Policy Set for Production Mode. Then I used device location to match against these conditions. For each location I have two sub-groups: One for Monitor and one for Production. That way I can move a NAD from monitor mode to full production by simply changing its group.
Lastly, yes, your CWA rules should be at the bottom of your production authorization rules.

  • HT1218 Does anyone else have a constant problem with losing connection with smart phone due to airport

phones are constantly searching for internet connection My time capsule/air port is always losing internet connection----anyone know how to solve this?

Wireless interference is probably the cause.
If there are competing wireless networks in your area, there is little you can do other than to use 5 GHz with all the devices capable of it. For iOS devices, only iPads and the newest iPhone is. Macs have supported 5 GHz for many years.

  • Cisco ISE - Guest Access With Google Chrome

We've implemented the self provisioning guest portal/Guest SSID and it seems to work great for internet explorer, if a user uses Google Chrome to go through the setup the password is generated, they login and accept the terms and conditions, but then they get hung up on the WLC URL and then have to start self provisioning again.
    Any ideas?

    1) When trying to update software via bb desktop manager, a 12 step process, the procedure progresses to step 6 then displays a "fatal error" message. Could be multiple causes see the correct procedure in the link below.
2)Trying to download apps from appworld getting the message that the radio must be turned on. where do i find the radio? The radio being referred to is your device radio you use for voice and data. Click on manage connections icon> make sure Mobile is checked.

  • ICal with smart phones--- iPhone or Blackberry

I am assuming iPhone can sync with iCal? My husband and I are thinking of switching to AT&T. But, as I think of all the things that would be nice to have....
does iCal offer a sync to iPhone for two iPhones (mine and my husband's) Would it basically add calendar inputs from all directions? ie. if he adds on his iPhone or I add on mine... it would add it to my MacBook's iCal.... and also, if I add to iCal, would it add to both iPhones?
What would happen if my husband got a Blackberry instead, would that be just as compatible to syncing with iCal?

Appears to only sync with local calendars?
I have yet to get it to see iCal Server calendars.

  • Wireless guest access with CWA and ISE using mobility anchor

My team is trying to demo wireless guest access using CWA with an ISE server.  We appear to be hitting an issue when combining this with mobility anchoring.
When we don't use a mobility anchor the authentication goes off without a hitch seemingly proving that the ISE configuration is sound.  The test laptop associates and gets redirected, auths, moves to the RUN state and access to the network is granted.
When the mobility anchor is enabled, the test laptop does get redirected, authentication is successful, but the process does not fully complete, as on the foreign controller the user is in RUN state whereas on the anchor the user is still stuck at CWA required.
Now, I've read the L2 auth occurs between the foreign controller and ISE, and the L3 auth occurs between the anchor controller and ISE, but this does not appear to borne out in packet captures of the process where both parts of the auth seems to go to and from the foreign controller and ISE.
I'm curious to know if anyone else has come across this issue, or has ideas where I should be looking in the config or debugs to find the root cause.
When setting up the controllers and ISE this guide (linked below) was used and the controllers are 2504 controllers on 7.5 series software and ISE is on the latest 1.2 patches:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps11640/products_configuration_example09186a0080bead09.shtml
To me it seems to be mobility related, but the authentication flow does seem to be off compared with what the guide says.

  • OSX 10.10.1 with Cisco ISE guest portal using (CWA) central web authentication issue

We have Cisco Wireless with ISE (Identity Service Engine) to provide guest access with CWA (central web authentication). The idea is to provide guest access with open authentication, so anyone can connect. Then when the guest trying to browse the internet it will be redirected to guest protal for authentication. So only corporate guest with valid password can pass the portal authentication. This is been working fine for windows machine, android, and apple devices with earlier OS version (working on OSX 10.8.5). For clients that's been upgraded to OSX 10.10.1 or IOS 8 they can no longer load the CWA redirection page.
Please let us know if there's any setting under the OSX to solve the issue, or plan from apple to fix the issue on the next OSX/IOS release ?
    thanks - ciscosx

    Robert,
Manual assignment has been made available in ISE 1.2 release.

  • Cannot Open the URL of CWA with ISE

    Hi Folks,
I have a problem when doing the CWA with ISE so that I can Provide the access of the network for the guests.
Everything goes fine except the URL of the CWA: When the guests open the explorer and enter a domain after connecting the SSID, they will be redirected to the URL like "https://hostname.demo.com:8443/guestportal/..................." which starts with the hostname of the ISE and the domain-name of the ISE, but for us, we don't have any AD and LAN DNS for our network so that we cannot translate the hostname.demo.com into the IP of the ISE, so can I just change the URL into IP type like "https://10.10.10.70:8443/guestportal"?

Screenshot of a screenshot (sorry) attached.
Basically it's in authorization policy, allows you to use a static DNS or IP address

  • [WLC - CWA] [ISE] Wlan Portal with Local Switiching

Description: Guest Portal ISE (WLAN) in a Flexconnect local switching enviorment.
Problem: The communication stops everytime we turn on the feature Radius NAC on the WLC.
We are trying to use Central WebAuth in a Flexconnect environment and with so the procedure that we are using it´s the one that´s available in the cisco DOCS ( http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/identity-services-engine/116087-configure-cwa-wlc-ise-00.html ) but there´s something occuring in my setup. I´ve configured step by step the WLC and ISE in accordance with previous DOC but I can´t establish communication everytime I turn on the feature RADIUS NAC in the WLC.
All the ACL´s were configured, I can see the ISE policy beeing sent to the client but when the PC tries to establish the connection to him nothing leaves the PC ( a simple ping was done ). I´ve tried a bunch of setups to see if it was a misconfiguration or something else but at the end , everytime I trun on the NAC feature the final client looses all the comms to anywere.
You can see in the following attachment the setup of WLC, and AP with flexconnect groups (I´ve also tried without a group but the final result was the same)
We are using a WLC 5500 with 7.6.120.0 ( http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/7-6/configuration-guide/b_cg76.html ) and the only thing I can foun is a simple note stating,
"Flex local switching with Radius NAC support is added in Release 7.2.110.0. It is not supported in 7.0 Releases and 7.2 Releases. Downgrading 7.2.110.0 and later releases to either 7.2 or 7.0 releases will require you to reconfigure the WLAN for Radius NAC feature to work."
In the Flexconnect Feature Matrix the RADIUS NAC is supported in a local switching enviorment ( http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/5500-series-wireless-controllers/112042-technote-product-00.html?referring_site=RE&pos=3&page=http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/flex-7500-series-wireless-controllers/113605-ewa-flex-guide-00.html) but what  we´ve found out so far it´s  the other way around.
Another thing that we´ve found is that in the version 7.4 configuration guide ( http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/7-4/configuration/guides/consolidated/b_cg74_CONSOLIDATED/b_cg74_CONSOLIDATED_chapter_0110100.html#ID2372 ) cisco says that the "FlexConnect local switching is not supported."
So, after seeing several docs my question is: Does Cisco support Radius NAC in a local switching environment ?

    Viten,
tnx for the quick reply but,
    a) what do you mean by webauth ( http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/identity-services-engine/116087-configure-cwa-wlc-ise-00.html) ?
    b) When I say comms stop is that I´m simple using ping as a test to see what happens in the client.Whenever I activate the radius feature the final client (laptop) ceases all comms in a local switching environment.

    DS

  • LWA Guest Access with ISE and WLC

    Hi guys,
Our Company try to implement Guest Access with ISE dan WLC with Local Web Auth Method. But there is problem that comes up with the certificate. This is the scenario :
    1. Guests try to connect wifi with SSID Guest
    2. Once it connect, guests open the browser and try to open a webpage (example: cisco.com)
    3. Because, guests didn't login, so it redirect to "ISE Guest Login Page" (url became :
    https://ise-hostname:8443/guestportal/Login.action?switch_url=https://1.1.1.1/login.html&wlan=Guest&redirect=www.cisco.com/
    4. If there is no ISE Guest Login Page installed, message Untrusted Connection message will appear, but it will be fine if they "Add Exception and install the certificate"
    5. After that the Guest Login Page will appear, and guests input their username and password.
    6. Login success and they will be redirected to www.cisco.com and there is pop up from 1.1.1.1 (WLC Virtual Interface IP) with logout button.
The problem happen in scenario 6, after login success, the webpage with ISE IP address and message certificate error for 1.1.1.1 is appear.
I know it happened when guests didn't have the WLC Login Page Certificate...
My Question is, is there a way to tunneling WLC Certificate on ISE ? Or what can we do to make ISE validate WLC Certificate, so guests doesn't need to install WLC Certificate/ Root Certificate before connect to Wifi ?
Thx 4 your answer and sorry for my bad English....

Thx for your reply Peter, your solution is right,
i don't choose CWA, because their DNS is not stable...
    i've found the problem...
the third-party CA is revoked, so there is no way it will success until it fixed...
and there is no guarantee, they will fix it soon..
so solution that we choose is by disable "HTTPS" on WLC...
    "config network web-auth secureweb disable".
    "config network web-auth secureweb disable".
    "config network web-auth secureweb disable".
    "config network web-auth secureweb disable".
    "config network web-auth secureweb disable"
    thank you all...

  • Guest Authentication With Accountability! -HELP CMX vs ISE?

    HI,
We currently are in the procurement stage of an upgrade to our wireless solution but are facing a  business requirements that hopefully you guys will be able to help with:-
Guest authentication with some way of checking the guests are who they say they are (this is for accountability purposes)
for example we would like something such as a guest logon portal with multiple ways to logon that provides us a credible source of identification for the guests (social media logons, email generated passwords to a valid email account, SMS generated passwords to a valid mobile phone number)
The above would be much more favorable than the standard web portal / lobby admin access where people could give a bogus name to the lobby admin over the phone.
We have been recommended cisco's CMX, this seems good on the face of it as it is able to integrate with a few social media platforms but can we set the ability to generate emails and SMS messages with this?
ISE is also another platform we are trying to be sold but I dont think this really addresses the above business requirement.
    Can anyone offer any advise?
    Thanks

Neither.  Look at PurpleWiFi or Nomadix.

  • I have an old mpg video file, taken with a very early model "smart phone", that opens and plays fine in my newly "rebuilt" iPhoto library. I cannot open, edit it or share it with any other software. How can I fix it, to be able to do anything with it?

I have an old mpg video file, taken with a very early model "smart phone", that opens and plays fine in my newly "rebuilt" iPhoto library. I cannot open, edit it or share it with any other software. How can I fix it, to be able to do anything with it?
    Detail:
I've recently purchaced a 4TB Thunderbolt drive to store my "vast" music and photo libraries. iPhoto had an issue reading the moved library, so I bought and used iPhoto Library Manager to "rebuild" it.
