ISE guestaccess - Android/iPad problem

Hi all,
I have a guestaccess using CWA on ISE 1.1.1 and WLC 7.2
The setup is realy simple with redirect ACL to ISE and after that an permit-all ACL.
Guest users are on a guest vlan and go thru a ASA to talk to DHCP, DNS and ISE.
When I try to connect with laptops, Windows 7, OSX 10.7 and 10.8, it works like it a charm.
The user gets redirected, put in credentials and after that get on the network. Not one problem out of maybe 30 tests.
But when I try smartphones and iPad it doesent work that well...
With iPhones, iOS5 and iOS 6 tested on three diffrent phones, I get access 19/20 times.
With iPad, only one with iOS 5.1, I get access maybe 50% of the tries
And with Android, two HTC with 2.3.7 and 2.3.3, I got one logon to the guest network out of 25 or more tries.
What happends when I try to access the network with a problem device is that it gets a redirect url but states,
on Android 'Web page not available' and on iPAD '..could not open page because it could not connect ot server.
On all these devices I can see that I have a DHCP lease with IP address and DNS. I have rebooted all devices several times and I have used 'forget this network' on the diveces.
I have also tried to removed the clients from the WLC and I have tried to turn off/on the WLAN on the WLC.
Could this be a WLC problem? I did a simple TCP dump on the ISE server but did not see any packets. (Need to do this one again..)
Anyone with some insight on guestaccess and mobile devices? :-)

While authenticating  the guest through wireless  its very important to check all the compatibility issues of the client  with the NAC(Switch/WLC) device and ISE.Please check the below  compatibitility matrix link along with some other links for assistance  on your queries:

  • Android, Ipad authentication under windows domain environment

I’m really confused about the best practice to set up these devices in a 802.1x and Windows Domain network using ISE.
I had seen the Ipad download the ISE certificate the very first time the device is connected to the SSID. In Android device (Galaxy phone) I don’t see the device download certificate.
Testing with the Android device I was able to install the root CA certificate (a not easy procedure), then when the SSID is configured in the device I have the option to choice the root CA certificate.
Now if I don’t include the certificate in the SSID configuration, the device is able to connect with an Identity and Password only. If I include the certificate in the SSID configuration, the device ask for the certificate storage password if the option for use secure credentials is not enabled before.
How can I validate through the ISE the android device is using the certificate? Is it possible to set a rule in the ISE denying access if the device does not validate the certificate? I think EAP necesarity use certificates, but the Android device does not show anything.
I had read about provisioning and profiling the Android devices. I think the Network Setup Assistant available through Google Play is an easy procedure to install the root CA certificate. Am I Right?
The customer said it appears the certificate is being used to encrypt the username and password not for do the authentication itself. Reading about EAP functionality I believe it is right, I understand the EAP-MSCHAP actually creates a tunnel to passthrough the username and password. Right?
As the Ipad and Android devices are not in the windows domain, what should be expected when the password is expired? Customer Policy indicates users must change domain passwords every four months. In a Windows PC users receive warnings some days before the expiration but it appears nothing happen in non-domain devices. A co-worker told me the easy way is that when this happen the user should remove the SSID in the device and create it again. The customer does not like this behavior, so what should be a best practice work around?
I hope you can help me to clarify my doubts.
    Regards.

  • ISE and Android Profiling

    G'day All,
I am building a wireless ISE solution that will service laptops (windows and OSX) via posture assessment, and mobile devices such as iphone, ipad and android.
I looking for help with the profiling of the android devices. I am using the profiler radius and HTTP probes, the radius probe appears to be sufficient for the laptops and the iphone/ipads.
HTTP has been introduced for the Androids as the radius probe wasn't receiving the user agent string from all the test android devices, for example a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone would send the user agent string and be profiled correctly, where as a Samsung Note 10.1 tablet wouldn't send the user agent string, so would be profiled as an unknown device.
I was attempting to keep it as seamless as possible for the end user. So I am not using device registrations, supplicant provisioning, etc. Obviously the posture assessment process isn't exactly semless, but once the users have downloaded the NAC client, etc, it is pretty seamless from a user interaction point of view, then on.
From the apple devices and the androids, I have an authorisation policy that says if the device is a profiled iphone/ipad/android, use CWA  and guest portal, users login via AD creadentials and accept the AUP and away they go. Some of the androids ignore this policy and then match on the policy for the laptops (posture assessment). Once connected and in posture pending status, the redirection to the NAC agent page fails, but the android is then profiled correctly via the HTTP probe. If I attempt to browse again, I get redirected to the guest portal via CWA as the devices has been profiled as an Android and the user can login, accept the AUP and away they go.
I'd love to hear from people who have implemented android profiling in the production environments, and how you have done it?
I am aware that not using device registrations/supplicant provision, etc isn't exactly validated design, but for the purpose of the Android profiling, it shouldn't be relevant.
I am presently using ise 1.1.3
Huge thanks in advanced guys, any assistance is always greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    JS

I have ran into this scenario also and I shy away from using the http profiling on the wireless device sensor because it causes issues with applications that fail to include the typr of device.
Have you checked the dhcp client identifier? I think the android has an android specific string so you may want to bump up the certaintity factor.

  • Android video problem

    Hi,
i have a pretty concerning problem with video playback on android tablets. I have created an interactive addvertisement that contains a video commercial. I placed it in inDesign, set it to play fullscreen and start automatically (in vertical position). The video works fine on iPads, but it doesn't work on android tablets (tested on Samsung galaxy Tab 10.1). What concerns me is that I've made a couple of these video adds in the past and they all work fine. I always use h264 mp4 video format so that shouldn't be the problem.
Has anybody encountered the same problem? How can it be fixed?

Btw Grega, what video converter / software you use to prepare video for both iPad and Android?
I was always using Quictime7 pro and i was happy with the quality and size but it doesnt work for Android.
    Thank you
    Best

  • Aperture 3 Syncing to iPhone/iPad Problem

I'm trying to sync my photos in Aperture (3.0.3) to my iPhone 3GS (iOS 4) and iPad:
I was able to sync projects, albums, faces, and places perfectly fine to my iPhone, but as of about a month ago, when I select Aperture as the source to sync photos in iTunes (9.2), it shows a very outdated version of my library and hasn't changed for over a month. I've tried rebuilding, and repairing the Aperture database, as well as repairing permissions, but nothing has changed in iTunes. I've also tried creating a new Aperture database, putting photos into that and syncing, but some photos don't sync (all standard JPEGs, and they've synced before so the photos aren't the issue). So far no update to iTunes or Aperture has fixed this.
I don't do anything special in Aperture other than import photos from a CF card, directly from my Canon 40D, iPhone, iPad, etc. I did originally import all my photos from iPhoto, but I had no problems syncing or anything like that. I think one of the Aperture updates messed up iTunes ability to recognize the current library as it's stuck on this old version.
    Help is greatly appreciated,
    atshef

I have been syncing from Aperture via iTunes to my iPad since I purchased it. It has had options such as: "Selected projects, albums, and faces and automatically include 'projects from the last 6 months'" and "include videos".
Apart from videos, everything has worked. I got all the albums I selected including the photos, and all the events from the past 6 months (which appear as a separate tab - events - in Photo viewer on the iPad). Video has never worked though, I never see any of the videos transferred - I do suspect the format in that case though, perhaps Aperture sharing doesn't convert the format, even though they work in iMovie.
However, yesterday, as I was syncing, I noticed iTunes say "deleting photos..." now all photos are gone, except one album - the "***" (5 star) one from Aperture. I have tried rebooting the iPad, restarting the Mac, checking other applications can see the thumbnails from Aperture, removing "Sync photos from Aperture" then re-enabling. And nothing. All I get is the one album and no events.
It has been working for months. I have not updated iTunes in the last few days, nothing I can tell has changed, however none of my albums are now being installed. There is zero feedback. It says it works, no errors, nothing.
    Any ideas?

  • ISE Airespace ACL WLC problem

    Hello,
i've configured ISE and WLC to use guestportal with CWA but there is a problem with CoA -- it doesn't want to apply airespace alc after auth at guestportal.
    1. At authC page i've configured a wireless MAB to continue if user not found and to use a Internal users as a identity store.
    2. At authZ page i've configured a WEBAUTH as a default rule with the following:
    Access Type = ACCESS_ACCEPT
    cisco-av-pair = url-redirect-acl=ACL-WEBAUTH-REDIRECT
    cisco-av-pair = url-redirect=https://ip:port/guestportal/gateway?sessionId=SessionIdValue&action=cwa
    3. I've also configured this ACL at WLC to permit
    permit dns and icmp any-any
    permit any-to-ise-8443
    permit ise-to-any
This part works fine because i able to redirect to guestportal and use my guest login&pw to authorize myself. The guest account was previously generated through sponsor portal and it's working too.
    4. At authC page i've use a wireless dot1x to use Internal users
    5. At authZ page i've use a "if internal users:Guest then GUEST permission" rule
    6. GUEST rule looks like the following:
    Access Type = ACCESS_ACCEPT
    Airespace-ACL-Name = GUEST_INTERNET_ONLY
    7. This ACL is configured on the WLC permitting any except private networks (ISE is also permitted)
After guest portal auth i see a success message and i able to ping internet but i have no web access to it. It looks like CoA and Airespace acl are don't working and i keep using my ACL-WEBAUTH-REDIRECT access-list and i see a strange error messages in the WLC logs:
*apfReceiveTask: Nov 12 17:32:27.317: %ACL-3-ENTRY_DONOT_EXIST: acl.c:369 Unable to find an ACL by name "".
I swear my ACL name spelling is correct and both ACL-WEBAUTH-REDIRECT and GUEST_INTERNET_ONLY are on the WLC with their counters growing!
I don't have a point what issue it could be...
    Any ideas?
P.S. see attach for Live authentication log

Thank you guys for your responses, it's working now!
    The first problem was there:
    Changing IPv4 ACL 'none' (ACL ID 255) ===> 'GUEST_INTERNET_ONLY' (ACL ID 5)
There are only 3 ACLs on my WLC so ALC ID 5 is kinda suspicious -- after WLC reload it becames ACL ID 1 but the problem was unresolved.
After that i changed my authZ matching rule to use another authZ profile:
    Access Type = ACCESS_ACCEPT
    Airespace-ACL-Name = PERMIT_ALL_TRAFFIC
    cisco-av-pair = Airespace:Airespace-ACL-Name
Then i created ACL PERMIT_ALL_TRAFFIC on my WLC with one ACE "permit any any". I also denied access to my private networks at ASA where guest vlan's gateway resides.
I think the problem was in WLC's GUEST_INTERNET_ONLY ACEs which denied traffic to my private networks.
    Thanks for the help!

  • 4 months of iPad problems

Just a report on my recent experience with Apple support on an iPad.
In May, I bought the top of the line iPad3 (64Gb + 4G). A couple of weeks later, problems started to appear, in random order.
    - half of the screen started to flicker
    - spontaneous reboot
    - 80% of apps crashing at boot
    - truckload of errors and crash reports in the logs
    - iPad going into recovery mode
    - apps refused to install, download refused to finish
Of course, none of this was consistent. It was sporadic, sometimes coming in clusters around 2/3 days and then disappearing for weeks.
So I called Apple, which made me do a reboot, then a reinstall from iCloud, then finally a "setup as new iPad". Nothing worked.
Shipped the iPad off to Apple, with precise description of the problems.
Got an email at 2pm on a Friday: "we got your device, it's being tested"
Second email at 5pm same day: "nothing is wrong, we are shipping it back. Be grateful we didn't charge you for the diagnostic services"
I called them and asked them how could they possibly diagnose a sporadic intermittent problem in such a short time, but of course the answer was "we don't know, we don't talk to techs, we have the right tools..." Basically "shut up and take your ipad back"
I live in Hawaii, where the nearest Apple store is 150$ and 1h flight away on a different island.
Problems kept getting worse: reboot almost every day, 2/3 times a day. Finally the idea: Make a video! Used my cellphone, and decided to videotape all the weird behaviours. Got 4 minutes of footage with reboots, flickers, crashes, and all of that.
Finally decided to travel to apple store, showed the video to the "genius" and got a brand new iPad in 5 minutes.
Now Apple: costed me an airplane ticket, and 4 months of frustration.
    A few suggestions to Apple:
1- TRUST your customers. Before you dismiss their claims, try a little harder.
2- Use your own crash reports. My iPad submitted at least 150 automatic crash reports, including some very troubling CRC (memory corrupted, mostly due to faulty memory chips)

Many thanks for your patience and kindness.
I went looking around on my external backup and low and behold, there was an iPhoto icon with the date of August 8. I have no clue how or why it was backed up, but there it is. Eveything is there on the external disk.
    1. Is there a way to move that to the computer and make it my primary iPhoto?
    2. My computer is 1TB, and my external disc is only 500GB. My fault, I know. Thus, I do not thing the Time Machine could be configured as a backup.
Do you know if there is way for me to set it on Time Machine, but only back certain files, such as iPhoto, and other top priority?
    Thanks.

  • I can't sync my macbook air with my ipad, problems with authorization... this keeps cropping up: "The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permi"

Help, cannot sync completely with my ipad, and i also cannot remove or delete shared photos which are clogging up my ipad 64GB memory! Some issue with this keeps croppin gup, so frustrating:
"The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed."
Not sure how we can correct his permissions problem, and whether authorising or deautorizing makes any difference, with more and more errors keep popping up, this got to be such after an update of the OS, can remember which!?
    HELP!!!

    follow this:
    Launch iTunes
select iTunes Store from the menu on the left side.
sign in via the link on the top right area if you haven't done so already
click the link where you Apple ID email appears, enter your Apple ID password, click View Account, this will take you to a page displaying detailed information about your Apple ID account.
The last item under Apple ID summary should be Computer Authorisations, click Deauthorize All
now reauthorize any computers as needed when the system prompts you.
    good luck.

  • Android 4 Problem - StageWebView cutting off button on same View

So I'm trying to pull off something similar to the example here: http://cookbooks.adobe.com/post_Create_a_basic_web_browser_with_StageWebView-18850.html . Basically, a native browser view with a few Flex controls over top. Problem is, I've been running into a lot of display problems on Android 4 devices specifically. As far as I can tell, the StageWebView seems to be preventing the button overhead from being rendered in part or *at all* - as in, the button doesn't show up at all. It's just black.
See for yourselves. Here's a screenshot (the test page has a yellow background):
If I touch the screen or the web view, the button will (usually) abruptly show up above the page, where it's supposed to be:
Anyone else seen anything like this before? Any ideas what it could be? Or what could be a fix? Project is being developed in Flash Builder 4.6 with the 4.6 SDK. Screenshots are from a Google Nexus 7 tablet (Android version 4.1.2, Adobe AIR version 3.4.0.254).

    Uhh... anyone?

  • IPad problem.

Can someone please help me with problem I have. I was able to sync all I had saved on my pc to my replacement I pad with the exception of my saved movies. I can't seem to be able to get them back on the iPad. I can view them on the pc so they are downloaded correctly. Appreciate some help please.

Do you see them on the iPad configuration when the iPad is connected to the PC, with iTunes running and your iPad selected? Just because you can see them in the iTunes library does not mean that they were selected to sync.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes. Click on the iPad name on the left side under "devices". Click on the Movies Tab in the iTunes window on the right. Click on the Sync Movies heading. Click on each movie that you want to sync. Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
Now check the iPad. Did the movies sync?

  • Bluetooth, iPad problem.

The Bluetooth on my iPad does not see any devices to pair too. My iPhone and Mac Book locate and connect with these without a problem. What's up with that?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • IPad problem with syncing after reinstall

i have reinstalled windows 7 recently and when i plugged my ipad to be synced with some new apps i found that itunes demand the data that is not currently in the itunes library because i reinstalled the whole disk containing this information(i don't know why it just don't merges it). Anyway, i have accepted this and selected the new apps to be installed, and that's where the problem begins. On step 2 of 3 (determining apps to sync) it doesn't sync at all the selected apps and then finishes syncing without the apps appearing on the ipad.
It still has the apply button to sync them but it doesn't do anything at all. Any suggestions regarding this situation because i don't really understand what wrong with it ...

I realized where was the problem

  • IPad problem, could it be the battery ?

Hi all, my wife's iPad2 16gb is now 2 years 3 months old, the AppleCare warranty ran out 3 months ago and it has never given any trouble UNTIL YESTERDAY !
It was on charge all day and all night but it never got to 100% !!!, it was stuck on 84% permanently !!!!
Does this mean the battery is on it's last legs ?, what am i to do ?
Does anyone know about, or actually had a new battery ?, i suppose my first port of call is my local Apple Store, but what will they say, over the phone they were very un-comittal .
I have heard a rumour that the battery is non replaceable and i have to give them £100 to exchange it for another one !, but that is only a rumour.
obviously the battery must be a very large part of the insides, and she simply loves her iPad, i dont really want to buy another one !!!!!
    Tim

If it stops charging at less than 100%, unplug the charger and then replug. Should then charge to 100%.
Also try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

  • Having an iPad problem I don't see anywhere else. PLEASE HELP!!!

Starting about a week ago when I charge my ipad the screen stays on and flashes a battery icon with the % charged. It charges but VERY slowly because the screen is on all the time. How do I get this to stop?! Please advise! Many thanks!

  • Problems syncing ipad, problems syncing ipad

    Hi There,
I have just bought a 27" Mac and would like to Sync my ipad to it. The problem that I have is I keep getting a message that says unable to sync because there is not enough free space to hold all the items in the iTunes library. I have flagged the things that I want to sync and it only fills up half of the 64G that I have avaliable. This is the first time that I have had a mac and the first time that I have tried to sync, Im not sure of whats wrong. Any assistance would be appreciated

I think I know what I did, I downloaded the update early from online and now it wants to restore to that download which I have deleted, if I click Shift+Restore is the official apple update file somewhere for me to select?
