ISight and alternatives

I've recently purchased a Macbook and am learning how to use it. Although I like the convenience of iSight, I prefer the flexibility of an external webcam. I've downloaded the appropriate codecs for my logitech cam, but I can't figure out how to make that my default webcam. For example, when chatting in Yahoo, activation of the webcam automatically goes to iSight, and I have been unable to make it switch over to the external webcam. Any advice much appreciated.

In Yahoo! Messenger, there is a preference pane that lets you select the video source. You'd find it in Preerences, under the Yahoo! Messenger menu. Then go to the "Webcam" pane.
I don't know if you're going to have to change it every time... I've never used an external webcam with my system (except for on my G4, and that usually stayed where I put it). There would be a similar routing for selecting video source in iChat.

ISight and External Firewire Hardrives

After installing my external firewire hardrive (one of two ports), my iSight seems to compete with the firewire ports and won't function. It just shows still frames, like an old film movie that got stuck between frames. When I turn the hardrive off, it works just fine. Problem: I'd like to run my external hardrive for daily backup storage . . . but then, I can't use iSight at all. Any solutions or fixes to this competition problem?

Sorry I was not clearer. The links are not for iMac firmware updates. Your Mac's Software Update... feature will monitor all updates needed for your iMac (unless you had disabled it, which you did not do.)
My suggestion to check firmware was intended to relate specifically to your hard drive's firmware.
Regarding your numbered questions:(1) Still dealing with your hard drive's firmware, your best answer will come from LaCie. Try their User's Manual, ReadMe files, Help files, or website Documents, Downloads, or FAQs.
For your Mac, just run Software Update... It will tell you whether you need any updates, whether to your Mac's Apple software or to its firmware.
(3) Yes, I believe you will still have a conflict. That is why I wrote that you can "try" using an external powered hub.
At the time of writing my response, I did not know how vital it was to you to have both your iSight and your external drive connected simultaneously and continuously. An external hub was just one more thing you could try if it were important to exhaust all possible remedies other than buying a Tower Mac and installing additional Firewire ports. (Even that might not work.)
If having your external drive connected while using iSight is not that important to you, there is no need to test whether an external hub might help you.As you read in the "hardware or software conflicts" link I provided earlier, the solution to my conflict between my iSight and my Firewire scanner was to disconnect the scanner whenever I use iSight.
Your solution of connecting your external drive only when you want to perform a backup is certainly a viable solution. Depending upon when and how frequently you use your iSight and run your backups, you might want choose the alternative solution of leaving your external drive running and disconnecting it only when you want to use your iSight. Whichever you choose, your solution will work.

External iSight and Mac Mini 2011

I always loved the industrial design on the external isight and would like to buy one. How ever will it still work with my 2011 mac mini? And which isight revision should I look for? What are the differences among them?

(1) If the old iSight you buy still works, it should work with your Mac mini.
    (But see ¶s 2. & 3. below.)
To connect the FW400 external iSight to your FW800 mini, you will need a Firewire 400-800 cable or adapter. I suggest you have more than one of these so you can test whether any problem you encounter might be due to a bad connector.
Any working one(s) of something like those listed here should work to connect a FW400 external iSight:

(2) I understand your attraction to the appearance of external iSight.
However, if I were buying another webcam today, I'd buy a new UVC (USB) webcam that has a warranty. Based on my budget and the camera feature I wanted, I would select a compatible camera like one of those discussed here:

My external iSights (I have two) are great webcams, but they are getting old (as consumer electronics go.) Both of mine still work as well as they did when they were new. However, some previously owned iSights may have suffered pretty rough treatment, and the only way to know whether any currently available external iSight works properly is to test it. If you still want to consider buying an External iSight, I suggest that you physically examine and test it on your system before you buy using the suggestions from this page:

If you cannot try the external iSight before you buy, perhaps a trusted seller will give you a warranty for return or exchange privileges if the iSight will not work properly with your system.
(3) Additionally, unlike USB webcams, external iSight can be finicky about sharing a Firewire connection.
Chaining external iSight with other Firewire devices on the same Firewire ports often causes function problems. Because your mini has only one Firewire port, If your system includes other Firewire devices, you would most likely need to disconnect them in order to successfully use an external iSight with your mini.

Which particular model revision would be much less important to me than being able to test an external iSight to make certain it works with your system.

No such standard report available in SAP to see for many materials. in MM03 under Additional Data, you can see but material wise.
Better use table MARM to see the same and create an ABAP Query of Report using this table.

we're using country chart of accounts and alternative account No. to fullfill FICO China localization, now I have below questions:
1, In manual FI posting in company code of china, eg. by transaction code FB01, which account number is used for this posting? Account number in operational chart of accounts or account number in country chart of accounts?
2, The alternative account No. in country chart of accounts also needs to be created with compnay code level master?
Or we just need create account in operational chart of accounts with company code level master?
3, If we use account in operational chart of accounts for FI posting by company code of China, after posing, two accounting documents are generated, one with account in operational chart of accounts? Another one with account in country chart of accounts?

Bluetooth, iSight and Keyboard Backlight not working. Please help!

My Bluetooth stopped working along with my iSight and Keyboard Backlight. I first noticed the weird sign over the bluetooth icon, and it read "Bluetooth not available". I payed no attention to it for a while until I tried to take a picture with Photo Booth and I read "No camera found", for some reason I tried to dim the backlight on the keyboard and a blocked sign appeared under the brightness level, not letting me do anything (Later I was able to use the backlight with the LabTick app). I have tried everything. SMC, PRAM, NVRAM, logging as diferent and new users, booting in safe mode... every solution I have found on the internet has been tested by me. Then I read this about the Hardware Test solution, and surprisingly after performing the Hardware Test no problems were found! So basically my MacBook Pro (mid 2010) is not having any trouble of any sorts with anything. Then why can't I use Bluetooth, iSight or Key backlighting (which only works through LabTick). Given the fact that the hardware test shows no problems I am not comfortable with the idea of taking it to repair. There MUST be something I can actually do to fix these issues.
Does anybody have any idea? I repeat, these are NOT WORKING, NOT FOUND AND NOT AVAILABLE.
- Keyboard Backlight (Only works through LabTick)
- iSight Camera (Not found by any software)
- Bluetooth (No info appears on the system profile, the icon on the menu bar is completely gone)
All three issues happened at the same time, the night before everything was working perfectly fine.
If anyone could help... please!!!
Summary:
MacBook Pro Mid 2010 (http://support.apple.com/kb/SP583) Unibody, can't take out the battery.
Solutions tried:
- Reset SMC: Turning on while holding Shift + Ctrl + Option + Power Button (This makes my MacBook forget about the battery and start up with really loud fan noise, battery icon appears with an X on it, keyboard backlight buttons work, they show brightness level on screen, but the actual light won't work, no bluetooth, no isight)
-Reset PRAM and NVRAM: Turning on while holding Option + CMD + R + P (I have waited for 2 chimes, 3 chimes and 4 chimes at different times, nothing happens. Light, bluetooth and isight are still gone)
-Holding Power Button for 10 seconds, 20 seconds, longer... nothing changes.
-Creating and logging in as new admin user, nothing changes.
-Deleting the bluetooth.plist file and powering off and on again, also rebooting
-Deleting the SystemConfiguration folder, powering off and on again, also rebooting
-Installing "blueutil", didn't help at all, turned it off via terminal with command blueutil off.
-Performing Apple Hardware Test - Shows no erros or problems on any area after one full hour of testing (Performed the extended testing)
-Leaving it powered off overnight
Please anyone help meee!! I can't afford going crazy!

****UPDATE***
Hi guys i got across this forum after searching for bluetooth, front camera and the most ANNOYING no lost keyboard backligth.
After run all the test, procedures, tweeks and, and everything i remenbered that once i sent my MBP to repair at you bring i break, turns out that the little ribbon flex connector coming from the mother board ( from the rigth to left) was loose since the adhesive wich they used shrink do temp changes, anyhow y popped out the glas and found the flex cable totally sticked to the glass pulling out of the pcb board connector, reinstalled it smoothly and that FIXED the camera, bluetooth and keyboard backlight!..
thats it. hope i helped some frustraded owner.

I read that it was difficult to use iSight with XP, but is it impossible?
I have a Mac at home and a laptop from work with XP. at the moment, the Vskype is only for PC, and I want to get the iSight to use with both?

Based on what I have seen here, the answer is yes unless you are willing to accept partial function. To use iSight to its full potential, you need a Mac.
As I recall, about a year ago, one person posted that he made an iSight work properly with XP by editing the code in a Windows video driver to correct the gamma to usable, experimentally derived, values. I did not fully understand it, but, if this is within your capability, you might want to consider using an iSight as your PC webcam.
I asked him to post the specifics of what driver he modified and what values he used, but he never posted back the info. If you get it working, please post the info back here because this is a frequently asked question.
Some users claim that they can make either audio

video work with a particular PC application, but nobody else has reported that both audio and video work simultaneously.
For instance, Johan Dam, "There is a program for iSight for Windows Xp?" msg # 2.1.1.1.1, Jul 3, 2005 reports that the Splitcam app for his PC lets him use iSight for video only.

External iSight and Windows Vista

Did some searching on this and it seems like a lot of people are having troubles. I got it working without much hassle so thought I'd share. First of all, I'm not using BootCamp, Parallels, or any such thing. Just Windows.
When I plug in the iSight, it's recognized as an "AppleComputerInc. iSight" and 2 unidentified devices. I'm guessing at least one of those is the audio. Maybe both since it's stereo audio I think.
It will try and fail to find drivers for all 3 devices.
Go into the Device Manager (right click on Computer, choose Manage and then click Device Manager in the left side of the Management Console.)
Right click the iSight (not the unidentified devices) and select Update Driver Software.
Tell it you want to browse your computer to select the device, and then on the next screen say you want to select from a list of device drivers.
Make sure you uncheck the box to show compatible devices only.
Select Generic as the manufacturer and Generic 1394 Desktop Camera as the model.
That's it. You'll need to turn the brightness way down in whatever application you're going to use, but otherwise it seems to work okay.

Create in FS00 a recon account for Down Payment or Bills of Exchange. You can copy from the existing recon account for vendor or customer.
Go to OBYR and choose the special G/L indicator. Click on the magnifier. Then enter the main recon account for vendor or customer and in the field of special G/L account, give the special recon account created above.
For example vendor ask for prepayment the goods $ 10,000, prepay $ 1,000

When receive goods

Payment setoff between Vendor and Alternative payee vendor

Hi
It is assumed that if a vendor account points to another vendor account for payment i.e Alternate Payee vendor, the two account balances will be combined into one payment. This is currently not happening.
A separate payment is issued under each vendor account.(i.e Original vendor and the Alternative payee vemdor).
For an example a vendor that is linked to another for payment but there is a credit sitting on the Payee account that is not getting offset against the other invoices paid to the vendor.
Note: Both Original vendor and Alternative payee vendor are created as vendors and payments are due to both the vendors.

Your assumption does work in our system (604).
This was the test I ran.
Created main vendor.
Created invoices and credit memo.
Went back and updated vendor record to add an Alternative Payee.
Then created additional invoices but still used the main vendor number.
Ran F110 and all invoices and credit memo entered above paid to the Alternative Payee - non to Main Vendor but clearing docs are still under the Main Vendor under FBl1n.
I think that is what you were wanting to work in yours? Correct?
Some questions for you:
1. Did you check to see if there are any OSS notes? like 1449061 or 1432181 that may apply?
2. Did you confirm that both the main vendor and the alternative payee have the same payment methods??
3. Have you analyzed the invoices/credit memos that the system is still paying on the main vendor to see what may be different about those? For example are you using payment method supplement?

Reconciliation and alternative reconciliation

Recon account: Every customer and vendor account will be assigned to a Recon account. You cannot post to a recon account directly. When ever a customer/ vendor account is posted in sub ledger , recon account is also getting posted in GL.
Consider the following entry:
Customer     Dr (Sub ledger ) 10000 USD
REcon a/c Dr (GL)                 10000 USD
Revenue    Cr (GL)                 10000 USD
While recon account will give you the total receivables or payables at any point of time, the individaul account will show you the details of the customer account. Recon account will always be in summarized form.
Alternate recon account:
There are some reporting requirements like down payments received or paid. These transactions should not shown along normal transactions and they need to be shown separately. They are called in Sp GL transaction in SAP. Every recon account is assigned to a alternate recon account with Sp GL indicator in the configuration. Whenever a transaction using the Sp GL is posted to the customer/ vendor a/c, they will be posted to the alternate recon account instead of normal recon account.
Special G/L transactions are special transactions in accounts receivable and accounts payable that are displayed separately in the general ledger and the subledger. This is achieved by posting to alternative reconciliation accounts, instead of posting to the reconciliation accounts for receivables and payables
