ISight and FaceTime camera resolutions

I have a black MacBook and I use the built in iSight camera (because I can not get the PartyBoothApp.com software to recognize any other webcam) and I have gotten fairly low quality photos. Is the FaceTime camera on the new Air any higher resolution?

I assume you mean Photo Booth. If so check with Spotlight to see if it still exists. If not you'll have to dust off your OS installation disks. Go to FINDER>HELP and enter reinstall in the upper right hand corner. Look at the Help Topics and select the applicable one and follow the instructions. You do not have to do a complete install. Reducing Facetime camera resolution

Now why would anyone want to do this? Don't we all want brillilant, sparkling, hi-res video? Usually, yes. However, when connected to a public network, for instance in a coffee shop, the wi-fi connection can be less than excellent, and being able to reduce the bandwidth required would be handy. If you're on an iPhone (or in my case iPod Touch), you only have a small display anyway and you really don't need 720p in such cases. This would be a useful feature on OSX as well, to reduce the outgoing bandwith from an otherwise HD video camera when connecting to someone in a location with a poor wifi signal.

You will not likely see a response from Apple, but "Feedback" offers the best assurance that responsible Apple people will see your input.

Photo booth and FaceTime camera does not work

I recently installed a new hard drive then loaded OS X and installed my back up after completing all of that I updated to Yosemite now my camera is not working, how do I fix it?

thanks estimates, since I could not solve the problem by any method, I proceeded to the requeritr equipment replacement warranty. Demonstrated to the local technical sales representation of the problem and the actions taken by me to try to fix it, so he agreed to perform the replacement of equipment.
Together upgraded to version 4.3.5 of the iphone to 5.0 and worked well, did not show the problem in this new team. so I think that the problem should arise if you have information preloaded and perform the actaualizacion there, but my appreciation is very vague, I would like to determine the tail in a more logical.

Isight and USB Camera

Hi,
I have an Imac with built in camera, I'm trying to connect a second camera Creative USB, and seems it is no recognized. Anyone has an idea how I can configure the new camera ?

The answer to your question depends on which Creative USB webcam and application you are trying to use.
If your particular model supports the current UVC standard, it should work without additional software.
If your Creative USB webcam is one of the non-UVC models in this list of Known Working Configurations, you will need to add iUSBCam software and, if indicated, the macam driver to use the cam with iChat. If you want to use it for other than iChat, the specified driver alone may do.
iMovie requires a Firewire DV signal from external cameras, so you cannot use your Creative USB cam with iMovie.
If you need more help that the above, see the Creative Customer Support web page or their "Contact Us" link for help on how to use their camera with your system directly from the camera's supplier.

"New" iPad and iSight / Facetime Camera

Will the "New" iPad, with it's 5mp iSight camera support better video for iChat than the 2nd gen iPad?
I'm a bit confused because Apple states that the Facetime camera, "FaceTime camera with VGA-quality photos and video at up to 30 frames per second camera.
Is the front camera using the same optics as the rear, thus Facetime video chat quality will be irmproved?

Can I Buy a MacBook with a Facetime Camera and not a iSight Camera?

I want to buy a macbook but i need a facetime camera and i´m wondering if its possible to change the isight camera with a facetime camera like i can change memory ram or hard drive when add to my cart the macbook.

It's the same camera, just with a new name to highlight the new Facetime service. The only difference is software. If you have OSX 10.6.6 or above, you can download the Facetime app for 99c to any Mac with any camera.

IChat and the HD FaceTime Camera

Does iChat video chatting support the HD FaceTime camera in the new Sandy Bridge iMacs?

I know that iChat 5 (and earlier versions) support (Use) a max pic resolution of 640 X 480 pic. (0.3Mp)
This is independent of the fact that My MacBook Pro comes with a version one camera (internal iSight) and later models and things like iMacs and Screen that come later have version numbers to at least 4.1.
Some of these later versions are capable of 1.3Mp pictures but iChat still only uses (0.3) of that.
Sandy Bridge is the term used for the Processor rather that the Camera although that does seem to be being called the Face Time Camera rather than the Internal iSight.
Face Time for Mac in the Beta and the first release is capable of Landscape views where as iChat cannot.
iMovie and Quicktime X can make use of the full resolution of the camera when recording.
I know of one Buddy of mine who has a newer Laptop who may be able to answer this from personal experience (but he does not appear to have been sending me HD 16:9 formatted pics in iChat)
Lion and iChat 6 may differ.

Reinstall Facetime application.
Check system profiler for your inbuilt iSight camera by looking at Hardware > USB > Built in iSight.
Perform an SMC/PRAM reset:
SMC RESET:
Unplug all cables from your machine including the power cable. Hold the POWER button for 10 seconds.
Plug all cables back in and boot machine.
PRAM RESET:
Locate COMMAND+OPTION+P+R Keys.
Turn on the Machine.
Hold down these four keys.
Until you hear the startup sound for a second time.

Logicboard replacement came with new serial that stops me from connecting w iMessage and FaceTime. Applecare ran out and now I am sure it is this issue... How can I get apple to honor the serial mess up?

The story is that I have an imac i7 that was still under Applecare when the logicboard coraked.
I brought it in for repair and got it back. Somehow imessage and facetime would never connect anymore and come up with connection errors yet everything else worked. I tried all tens or hundreds of suggestions over hte last few months and nothing worked.
So I resorted to a clean hard drive repartitioning and install of Mountain Lion.
To my surprise: it sill did not work.
That;s when I found an obscure post that I am quite certain is the problem: the poster had the exact some symptoms I had and NOTHING worked. Hrs of phone support etc. Until it dawned on him that he had a logic board replacement after which the issue occurred. He found that his serial was no longer the same as the original item and came up as invalid on the apple website and was not listed in the "About" of his iMac.
I immediately recognized the recent support symptom and motherboard replacement and checked the rest. And behold it is all exactly as he said. He had to bring it back to the service center and they put the original serial back in and everything worked again.
Here is my problem: months of troubleshooting have passed and my iMac went out of Applecare warranty. Support does not warrant an exception for the serial online and the service center wants to get paid I am not wealthy. This computer is my life and I need them to change the serial back to what it was when I purchased the machine. Can someone suggest how I get help. Apple is acting like M-soft in this respect.

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...

Windows Phone 8.1 (Sliverlight and Win RT) - How to get accessible camera resolutions?

I would like to ask, how it is possible to get all accessible camera resolutions in Windows Phone 8.1 app (for both silverlight and WinRT). I wanted to use:

Windows.Phone.Media.Capture.CameraSensorLocation.Back);
But I am getting message that namespace Windows.Phone.Media.Capture is obsolete and may not be supported from next version of Windows Phone starting with Windows Phone Blue and that I should use Windows.Media.Capture instead. However Windows.Media.Capture
does not allow me to get accessible camera resolutions, so I would like to ask, how to solve this.
