ISight audio not available in boot camp?

Hey everyone,
I'm running windows xp sp3 on my MBP17" just purely as a gaming side of things.
Anyway, I can't seem to get the audio from the isight mic available in any application.
I went to the audio setup in control panel and it only shows Realtek HD Audio input and Realtek HD digital input for the voice recording options.
Neither seem to be getting an audio signal when I talk.
Any ideas what I can do to get this working or am I out of luck?
The mic works fine in OS X. I have the latest bootcamp drivers and I'm running windows XP SP3 with the latest updates. The iSight camera works fine as a video device but no audio.
Any help would be appreciated.

ISight is not working with boot camp

Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro and very satisfied with it. Formerly I worked with Windows XP, so I decided to buy a Macbook and use boot camp. Everything was fine. In my enthusiasm I bought the LED cinema display. Very good display but the iSight camera is not reliable working with boot camp. There is no driver available. Sometimes the camera is recognized as video device but mostly not. When the camera is not recognized then there is a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager. I don't know what to do. Is anybody working with boot camp and the iSight build in the LED cinema display? And what driver do you use? Hopefully I get some help here. Everything is working convenient except this issue.

Sorry, I think I mixed some things. I tried several contellations to find out what is going wrong. The iSight is woking with my MacBook (and boot camp). But it is not working with other Laptops or PCs (all with Windows XP). It is working really rarely but not reliable and not replicatable. In all cases I tried only the USB connector from the LED cinema display. Audio, micro and hub is always working without problems. The iSight driver delivered with the Macbook is not working (only with the Macbook itself). If I had known this before I think I would buy the display although. The display is great. But it is a pity that the iSight is not working when you do not use Apple hardware. May be I will buy the Mac Pro in one or two years when I need a new PC. Perhaps someone can answer if Windows XP is working without problems on a Mac Pro? And is the iSight build in the LED cinema display working (Mac Pro and boot camp)?

Optical Audio Not Working in Boot Camp

I own a set of Z-5500 and a Macbook Pro, and I hoped that I could keep the set connected through the the mini-TOSLink cable I use in OS X, but apparently Windows 7 doesn't seem to recognize it. Is there some way to get it to work, or will I be stuck with using a standard output.

Hey, I had the same problem, I went into the "sound" control panel, and on the first pane "playback" I saw two options: Speakers (green check: default) and realtek digital output. I simply right clicked the realtek and set as default and my optical out works!

Magic Mouse Not Working with Boot Camp.

I have a wired issue here. I installed Windows XP on my iMac 27" using bootcamp and all worked fine till one day my Magic Mouse stopped working in Windows. Now the funny part is windows is able to detect my mouse and says that the device is working normally but the green light under my mouse is OFF. No matter what i try i cannot get it to come on. But the moment i boot to Mac OS X the mouse works perfectly fine. My Apple Wireless KB works just fine in Windows. A USB mouse also works fine. I have also installed Parallels on my Mac and when i boot into the Windows partition using Parallels the Magic Mouse works fine. Any idea as to whats going on here.?

They install OK with the Bluetooth control panel, but then after five or ten seconds, drop out of the control panel and have to be discovered again. I spent two hours today with a Mac support expert, but no joy. We both gave up. It seems the wireless mouse/keyboard does not work with Boot Camp. If anyone hears of a solution, please let me know.

Mouse not working with Boot Camp after 10.5.7 update

I upgraded to 10.5.7 recently, and now my mouse doesn't work on Boot Camp. It doesn't seem to register, and I can't move the pointer. I tried this with two mice that worked just fine on the Mac OSX side. Any ideas? Has anybody else noticed this?

I try to install windows7 system on my macbook air, which version is 10.8.5. When I open the bootcamp, it let me to choose a windows ISO image, which I've already downloaded from this website: http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325 /, it also asked me to select a USB drive, which is kingston that has 8GB. Then when I clicked "continue", it said that "Your bootable USB drive could not be created" "Boot Camp only supports 64-bit Windows installation on this platform. Please use an ISO file for 64-bit Windows installation." But actually the ISO image I downloaded is 64-bit windows7. I don't know why this would happen. Could someone help me please!!

I identified the reason to be that the W8 installation file didn't download completely from a Mac OS-device. I downloaded from another Win-device and the moved the installation file with a USB-stick and then everything worked diectly! But thanks anyway.

Update: I did an extended hardware test (just in case a hardware issue was causing my problem)--no problems found. I then went through the Aperture troubleshooting steps: I tried repairing permissions first, but I still could not see any of the images that were in the Aperture trash. I then repaired the library. This seems to have fixed things (at least upon initial assessment). Afterward, I was able to see the images that were in the trash. I opened the Activity Window to see what it said when I tried emptying the trash again. This time it said it was deleting exactly the number of images that I expected it to delete (not twice as many this time!), and it emptied lickety split--as I had expected it to do the first time! So, hopefully, all is now well with my system and library. Still wondering why it was telling me it was deleting twice as many images as were in the trash the last time I tried, but overall, much happier today!

Audio in Windows 8 Boot Camp not working

I have installed Widows 8 using boot camp. The audio was perfectly fine until recently, it is not working anymore even with my earphones (though it works if I connect to an external speaker using Bluetooth).

Probably...but how come when I use Windows 8 from Mac OS, I still have to restart again so that it will work? But if my Macbook pro is opened using Windows 8 directly it has no problem (until a point where I'm not using the audio/speaker for a period of time when it will not work again).

Built-in iSight trouble, think it's Boot Camp/Firmware related.

Lately my iSight has been having issues. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Until recently I didn't couldn't figure out what might be causing it but I now have ideas.
First, symptoms. When I attempt to use my iSight with either iChat or Quicktime, the window which would normally display what my camera sees is black. If I use PhotoBooth it is green. Normally I'd attribute this to another application using my cam but nothing is and I'm not getting a warning about it.
If I reset my MacBook Pro's SMC and restart it sometimes gets it to start working again. Though what seems to be the deal is restarting a few times is a sure way to make it behave.
Now, I run both Parallels and Boot Camp on my laptop and I thought one of those might be the issue. Once I had the cam working again in iChat, Quicktime and PhotoBooth I started up Parallels, fiddled a bit and shut it off then started up iChat. No problems, so I shut it down and booted up into Windows via Boot Camp, fiddled some more and restarted into OS X. After opening iChat I noticed the cam wasn't working once more.
So That pretty much has the main problem isolated. Since it's a Boot Camp issue I figured it might be firmware related since I couldn't think of anything else. I went to Apple's support page to grab the lastest firmware and found this article Listing the firmware I needed as...

...And if the first one is the latest firmware, why does mine appear to be the next version? If I'm backwards on how the numbering should go why isn't anything coming up with software update? Further more, what confused me is I found this SMC firmware update for my MacBook Pro that will put me to SMC firmware version 1.12f10, which also seems to be a later version than listed.
So what I want to know is what should the latest version of firmware for my machine be, where can I get it and, most importantly, is this what is causing the problems with Boot Camp and my iSight?

I've been looking around the web for a while now trying to figure out what the problem is and I now have new symptoms to report.
When I boot up in Safe Mode and try to open Photo Booth it says another program is using my iSight. Now, I know that's not true because I just started up OS X and I haven't started any other programs... I had also just reset my SMC so I don't see how anything is carrying over.
So what I'm now wondering is whether or not there is a way to find out exactly what is using my iSight at any given time? Either via some app (preferred) or if someone has a Terminal script I can copy and paste that will tell me. I can always just flat-out format my computer and try that but I'd rather not since that would take me a little bit to reinstall and update all my apps again. I know that's the final step to try before I bring it to Apple for them to check it out but I don't want to go that far yet.

Bluetooth m.mouse & keyboard not working in Boot Camp on XP

I'm not sure if this is a common problem, but it's doing my head in.
I recently installed Windows XP (SP2) on Boot Camp, the mouse and keyboard had worked fine, and I was able to hold down Option key to choose prefered OS on startup no problem. I then tried to connect to my work network to use the internet (and operate stuff) to discover that I needed to download network drivers. I figured out I needed to insert OSX install DVD and follow the prompts, which I did, setup wizard was enacted and the drivers were (I believe) downloaded.
After restarting the computer I've discovered that I'm now unable to use the bluetooth mighty mouse OR keyboard! I've tried plugging in a USB PC mouse, but that's still not working. So I tried restarting and holding down the option key in the hope of switching back to OSX, but I can't even do that! everytime I restart it goes straight to Windows XP, I've tried several times, pressing the Option key at different points of the restart phase to try and get to the choice screen, but to no avail.
I have a new(ish) 27" Apple iMac running OSX Snow Leapord
Any help appreciated

I've been able to source a PC USB keyboard (along with the mouse), but still unable to get any response from the computer. Doesn't seem to matter if they're plugged in before I restart in windows either.

Intel vt-x not supported on boot camp windows 7 (virtualbox and microsoft detection tool)

I've a MBP mid-2010 that is running a Windows 7 Pro as boot camp partition (business needs).
I've installed virtualbox on the Windows 7 OS, but I can't access the "accelration" tab under the system settings.
When running an imported OVA system (that uses Intel VT-x) I get an error message saying :
"VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system. Your 64-bit guest will fail to detect a 64-bit CPU and will not be able to boot."
Using the Microsoft® Hardware-Assisted Virtualization Detection Tool, I get the confirmation that it is not available on my computer.
Which is really strange because it is working perfectly under Mac Os X Mavericks (and previous).
Anyone has an idea ?

I have this exact same issue, except I'm trying to use Hyper-V in Windows 8.1. Windows is running via Bootcamp 5, I have a late 2013 Macbook pro model.
I get the error message Hyper-V cannot be installed: Virtualization support is disabled in the firmware.
After poking around online, most information points to the Mac EFI firmware. It might be an update is available there that will help with VT-X

However, there's no update for my particular Macbook. I've only found one workaround that I don't really know how/why it works.
1. Power off my macbook, completely shut down.
2. Hold the option key to boot into OSX Mavericks instead of Windows.
3. Restart from OSX and let Windows boot by default.
For some odd reason, VT-X is now enabled. This may be specific to my Mac. It's a Macbook Pro 2013, 15'' - '11,3' model.

Dual monitor not working under Boot Camp on Mac Pro ATI HD 2600 XT

Recently got a brand new Mac Pro with ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card.
On the Mac side (Leopard), everything works perfectly: my second monitor (a plasma screen connected with HDMI to the second DVI of the ATI card via HDMI/DVI adapter) is fully recognized and it works as an extended desktop or in Mirroring mode.
Under Boot Camp (Windows XP Pro) however, NOTHING: the second monitor always appears in the display properties, but it is grayed out (inactive), and when I try to activate it, it switches back to being grayed out immediately and nothing gets displayed on it.
After reading all the posts I can find on the topic, I tried the following (in pretty much every possible combination - Thank god for WinClone that allows me to restore the Boot Camp basic install image without having to reinstall Windows from scratch every time):
a) Bootcamp 2.0 (installed by default by Bootcamp assistant)
b) Update to Bootcamp 2.1
1) Windows XP Pro SP2c vanilla install (from my Windows XP pro install disk)
2) Update to Windows XP SP3 (I tried with and without BC 2.1: both worked -> BC 2.1 didn't seem to be required for SP3 - maybe because this is a mac pro and not a MB or MBP)
i) ATI drivers installed by default by Boot Camp assistant (BC 2.0) or by BC 2.1
ii) Latest ATI drivers found on ATI web site specifically under Boot Camp / Mac Pro.
Note: Interestingly, the catalyst installer worked ok (provided .NET framework 2.0 is installed though), but it seems that the Radeon BootCamp/Mac Pro driver set itself from ATI's web site does NOT include a driver for the HD 2600 XT - so when I install this driver set, it tells me that no compatible hardware was found...
iii) Latest ATI drivers found under Windows XP (these did include one driver specifically for the Radeon HD 2600 XT)
NOTHING seems to work. I read posts (most of the from late last year) about ATI Catalyst utility showing a 3rd monitor at some point, but I never got any 3rd monitor showing in any of my many many trials with Catalyst. I have yet to get a single image appear on my plasma under Bootcamp Windows. I don't believe its the hardware because everything works great on the max OS X side.
I am actually considering switching to an NVidia 8800 GT just to get the dual screen to work under BootCamp/Windows XP because I really need it and I read everywhere that drivers for NVidia are far better than ATI ones.
Any advice? What should I try next before getting an 8800 ?
Is there a diagnostic utility that I can use to test my config including the GC?

Hi there aside from my laptop I have an iMac 20" with the same HD 2600 XT card. I recently installed the Catalyst 8.6 driver by using a driver mod from driverheaven, I use Vista 32. By installing it this way I got boosted performance and many issues with the bootcamp drivers were fixed. As you may already know the ATI drivers do not install on bootcamped macs usually but the mod tool fixes this. Its unofficial so do so at your own risk but try it out and see if you get the second monitor if not just rollback. Hope this helps and I didn't want to say too much about the 8.6 driver mod because it may not be allowed here but google will provide any answers.

My DVD drive is now not recognized in boot camp.

I just found the Matshita DVD-R UJ-898 is no longer recognized in Boot Camp Win 7. Tried uninstalling in Device Manager but the driver fails to load upon restart and also fails when trying to update. The DVD drive works fine in OSX Lion so I know the drive is ok. It worked fine when I first installed Windows 7 in Boot camp last year. This is an early 2011 macbook Pro 17 with Lion. All updates have been installed. Hadn't used the drive in Win 7 for a long time so not sure when it ceased to work.

Found the solution. Microsoft Fix-It found and made the driver repairs automatically.

Windows 8 does not restart in Boot Camp

I installed Windows 7 in Boot Camp under Mountain Lion, then upgraded to Windows 8 Pro from within Windows on the Boot Camp partition. Initially I had tried to do a clean install of Windows 8 but received an error message that the version of Windows 8 I had was not designed for a clean install. In any case, Windows 8 worked fine - until I shut it off and tried to restart. After disabling sleep or any type of shutdown in OS X 8.2, I tried starting Windows 8 once more and was able to do so. However, after an normal restart following downloading updates, I get only a blue screen when attempting to start Windows 8. Additionally, Windows 8 will not start from a Windows 8 Install disk (which Boot Camp can recognize and use as the start disk). Have others had this problem? What have you done?

Hi All, thanks for interacting. However, I think the solution may be different than any of us suspected. After installing Windows 7 - and having it work well - I let Windows sleep and found to my consternation that I had the same black bios screen when attempting to reboot it. So I checked the forums to see if anyone else had that problem. Lo and behold, I found a post that said Windows 7 wouldn't reboot when he had an HD attached. I took that as a clue. Here's what I wrote to him:
"Interestingly enough, I had problems with Windows 7 (as well as Windows 8) restarting with some external HDs attached - three different ones, actually. After reading your note, I wondered if the issue with the failure of Windows 7 to restart might have to do with the fact that the HDs were attached. I ejected them in OS X and then tried a reboot - Voila! There was Windows 7, all happy again.
With respect to checking to see if the HDs are boot options, OS X (I'm using 8.2) does that prior to an OS coming up. If you hold down the Alt key while Boot Camp is restarting the Windows and Mac disks come up along with the Mac Recovery partition - not the external HDs (unless, I suppose, you had an OS on them). So Boot Camp already seems to know that they're not bootable. The problem might be that Windows is trying unsuccessfully to wrest control of those HDs from the Mac OS. What about it all you techs out there? Any ideas?" ....
Now I'm tempted to re-install Windows 8 and determine whether that was the basis of the non-boot problem I experienced under 8 - rather than there being no drivers from Apple yet. However, I have a few pieces of Windows software that are not compatible with version 8, so I'm going to leave well enough alone for now. Anyone else care to try it?

IMac with 3TB Fusion drive will not partition under Boot Camp

I have a 27" iMac with a 3TB Fusion drive and I am using 10.8.4.
I am trying to install Windows 8 Pro with Boot Camp. Everything starts well enough, but once I get to "Create a Partition for Windows" and setting a 505 GB Windows partition, it begins the process, but then seems to stop progressing with the status indicator pretty much stopped at a point directly under the "d" in the "Status: Partitioning disk.."
I've let it run for the past 1.5 hours and it hasn't budged.
This is not my first attempt at doing this on this machine. I tried manually partitioning with Disk Utility which pretty much ended up in a disaster that I was able to repair with some difficulty. That was covered in this thread.
I realize that 3TB drives were not supported under 10.8.3, but I thought that was fixed. Am I wrong?

This is a bit of a guess and you might have do a bit of further reading to understand what I am trying to say but basically:
When you buy a Mac - its Hard Disks come partitioned using the GPT partitioning scheme that is used for the UEFI boot process (All new Windows 8 badged computers have UEFI now as well - Macs have been using it for years). This is opposed to the old MBR partitioning scheme that was used with the BIOS boot process.
There are quite a few limitations of the MBR partitioning scheme including:
1. A limit of 4 partitions per volume
2. A limit of 2 TB per partition
3. Poor support for AHCI
When you run Boot Camp - it turns your partitioning into a hybrid of the two, so you get stuck with all the limitations of MBR - with the second bullet point above I suspect of giving you issues.
You have a couple of possible solutions:
1. Test with having all partitions less than 2 TB
or
2. (Technical) Try and install Windows 8 in EFI mode - its a bit tricky at the moment and a little bit of work - but I have it working on my MacBook Pro (although I do have nVidia graphics driver issues that you may or may not encounter as well).
