ISight Camera Driver working on Windows 7?

Although I have had Windows 7 (64 bit) version running on my late model MacBook Pro using Bootcamp 3.0 since Windows 7 was released, the iSight camera never did work. After installing Bootcamp 3.1 update I still have no working iSight Camera. Can anyone validate if you have a working iSight on Windows 7 (64 bit) and what the iSight driver version is. Mine still shows 2.0.1.0 (10/25/2007) regardless of how many times I reinstall the Bootcamp 3.1 update. I've noticed all other Apple bootcamp drivers show versions of 3.0 or higher.

I do not use Windows®, but if you get no better help here, the best I have to offer is:
Check iSight with OS X: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090

    Isight camera not working...
i've tried photobooth, ichat, skype and it doesn't show up anywhere. in fact, when i go to system profiler, it doesn't show isight under USB connections at all.
just to give you a recap of what i've tried so far:
    * restarting (obviously)
    * resetting PRAM/SMC (by booting it the way it was specified in the isight troubleshooting thing)
    * just shutting down my computer and taking the battery out for several hours
    any Help pls
because i mast to use it as soon as possible in a conference

    *A few suggestions.........*
Try running repair permissions from your HD and afterwards run +repair disk+ from your software install DVD.
my isight camera is not working-not recognized with photo booth or ichat
To fix your iSight, shut down computer. Reboot in safe mode (press power button and then hold shift key down). After computer boots, restart again. Hopefully, your iSight will start working again.

  • Can't get DVD burner or Isight camera to work via FW

I can't get a DVD burner (FW) or an Isight camera to work. The DVD doesn't mont and the Isight camera just turns on then back off.......I did all the disc maintenance and reset the PRAM. At one time these devices did works. Sometimes the FW board shows up in the System Profiler and sometime it doesn't. Could it be a faulty FW board? Firmware?

A new PCI card and $39 fixed it. I got the firewire 400 since my DVD burner and iSight camera run on 400. The 800 would have been nice. And it was on sale as a discontinued item, $22 ($99). But there is a catch, 400 and 800 cables aren't the same. DAH!!! New cables would have cost around $68. Yes, I do have cable supplier here in town were I could have bought the same cables at pennies on the dollar. Another DAH!!! I didn't think of it till after I put the card in. All so my cable supplier is on the other side of town. I'm tried and lazy right now.
Here ends another happy story, and I thank you all.......

  • HT2090 External iSight camera quit working after upgrade.

My external iSight camera quite working after OS upgrade. It appears the Firewire port is dead. Camera doesn't turn on, no green light. The camera is not recognized by any software.

Restart your Mac and troubleshoot using http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 suggestions.
Be sure to test more than one Apple app in more than one user account.  Do NOT use the "Guest" account for this test.  If you do not have more than one user account for the testing, create a new one now.  (A "Standard" account is all you need for testing.)
If your trouble persists, when you post back here tell us:
       (1) what version of OS X you use.
(You can find this with your Mac's  > About This Mac menu command.)
       (2) Whether the "upgrade" you mean was an OS X upgrade, an iOS upgrade, or both,
       (3) whether your external iSight works with Apple apps like Photo Booth, iMovie, etc.
If not, confirm that the symptoms are EXACTLY the same in every user account.
We will offer more specific suggestions based on the details you provide in your response.

  • Is it possible to get an iSight camera to work with Yahoo Messenger?

Totally new to PC here. Been a Macuser all my computer life, but needed a second computer for work. Not thrilled, but there it is.
So, I'm wondering if the isight camera is PC compatible, and if so, how and what drivers do I install? Or do I just go out and by a PC camera?

gateway gt5436e   Other OS   running windows vista

    Hello maurice493windows ML
Until Tony gets back with you, here is some info you can consider.
iSight does not need an installer CD because it was sold by Apple for use with Macs. All software for iSight is built into Mac OS X, so no separate installer CD was provided.
Apple's Boot Camp software that comes with the iNtel Macs has drivers for XP, but I am uncertain whether you have one of the iNtel Macs. If you do have access to an iNtel Mac and the software that came with it, you can extract the driver using the info Tony provided in this response to "Lennysapple" here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4207189&#4207189
This apparently will work with a PC running Windows XP, but I have not yet seen reports of it working properly with Windows Vista. You may, as Tony suggests, need to experiment to find out.
    <hr width="75%">
I do not recommend iSight on a PC. If you have too much difficulty, a USB webcam that is compatible with YM for your PC may be a quicker and easier choice. Many of the PC compatible USB webcams are cheap, and they were designed to work with PCs.
This Google Search returned links, such as this one, which contains the following statement that may indicate more problems for you:
... Apple specific hardware will not work, such as the iSight, Bluetooth, etc. due to the fact that they're written for 32-bit Windows XP SP2.
I do not know whether that is still true, but it does support my suggestion that it may be easier to buy a PC compatible USB webcam.

  • Can't Get External iSight Camera to Work in XP Pro.

I just installed XP SP2 via Boot Camp on my Mac Pro. I had trouble getting the Boot Camp Drivers Wizard to complete. It would freeze.
After I disconnected my iSight Camera and Apple USB Modem, I was able to get the wizard to complete.
But on reboot I still see Found New Hardware Wizard.
I also still see question marks beside my iSight Camera in Device Manager.
I tried to run the Apple Booot Camp Driver Wizard again using the REPAIR option. Same problem..
    Any Ideas?
    Rob

It looks like Apple does NOT provide any Bootcamp drivers for EXTERNAL iSight cameras.
I am out of luck!! Pity!!
    From wikipedia:
"Microsoft Windows XP and Vista will autodetect an external iSight camera as “1394 Desktop Video Camera”, but no specific iSight driver exists for Windows"
    see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISight
If someone knows of a Windows driver that will work with an EXTERNAL iSight camera, please let me know.

  • X230T camera not working since Windows update (Windows 8)

    Hi experts!
I have a X230T with a camera and Windows 8 installed on it.
The camera driver Lenovo offers for Windows 8 always was unstable. I had a lot of trouble with it already. But after a reboot the camera always worked again. Now, after a Windows 8 update (by Microsoft), the camera is not working at all anymore.
I already did an uninstall/install of the camera + cold boot, but every time i tried there is no camera function. So it has given up it's work completely. I am pretty sure that the camera is without any fault physically, but the driver just doesn't work anymore under Windows 8.
Anyway, Lenovo should have fixed the bad driver for a long time already, but now this is obviously a really major issue.
    Any ideas?

Did you try a real reboot, not just turning off and on (totally different things)
    A reset/reboot is:
    Go to Home Screen
    Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
    Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
    Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.

  • External iSight Camera not working after update installed?

a couple of weeks ago I turned on iChat and up popped a window that said i needed to update the (external) iSight camera i had plugged into my minimac (firewire). followed the instructions and did just that. little greenlight glowed happily, rotated lens and opened iChat--little green light blinked off and then iChat showed that the camera was not turned on. tried turning it on and off by rotating the lens, unplugging firewire and also restarted computer...no change. looked for update to firmware and downloaded 1.0.3, only to be told it does not work with OS 10.4 (bummer).
had a back up camera, plugged that in and no problems...trouble is roomate recently got the pop-up screen when he was using it and, thinking he was doing me a favor, 'updated'...so now have 2 cameras that do not work and no answers to be found on the posts or the apple support site.
    any ideas?

    Welcome to Discussions, johnboysf
    (1) Assuming you are not ANY having other problems with your Macs and that your Mac OS X Maintenance is up to date, you can concentrate on the iSight part of your system(s).
Restart your Mac with no unnecessary peripherals connected and try the suggestions here:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93240
    (2) If your iSight still does not work with any app, check for Possible hardware or software conflicts with iSight.
    (3) I cannot tell whether your mini is an iNtel or PPC. Apply the appropriate Combo Updater as follows if you still have the problem:
    • Backup your Home Folder, or at very least, your important files.
    • Repair permissions. (Click here if you need help.)
    • For PPC, download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update (PPC).
    • For iNtel, download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update v1.1 (Intel).
    • Finish with another Permissions Repair, and then check your iSight again.
Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying Combo Updates.
    (4) If your problem persists after trying all of the above, the problem may be with your iSight itself. The fact that you got that notification after you had previously been using your iSight successfully under OS 10.4.x, and the fact that the updater ran for you and your roommate under OS 10.4.x, makes me think there may be something wrong with your iSights. The Tiger (10.4.x) OS includes all the necessary earlier update (including iSight Firmware 1.0.3) and installs the Firmware update if necessary at the time you installed Tiger or first connected your iSight. Therefore, the Firmware update should be unnecessary and should not have been identified by Software Update... as being needed (unless someone has improperly thrown away some OS X files.)
As you note, iSight Firmware 1.0.3 will not run except on Mac OS X v10.3.7-10.3.9 (or, it now seems, if something is wrong.) If you have access to a Firewire-equipped Mac that is using one of these OSs, you can try applying the update to your iSights using that Mac.
    (5) If you cannot find a Mac that is still using Panther, or if applying the update does not resolve your problem, contact your Apple Authorized Service Provider for professional service. Ask your AASP if he wants to see your Macs, too, to check whether their software has been modified or damaged.

  • Macbook Retina Display isight camera not working - graphics freeze

I recently bought a base MBP-RD and can say that I am overall impressed with it, though I have found a couple issues already. One of them is related to the iSight camera which for some reason doesn't work. The camera appears in system profiler, but it shows as "camera not detected" when trying to launch application like iChat, Skype, FaceTime, etc. I already tried re-installing OSX Lion, and still not working.
I have also found some weird issue with graphics where it freezes a series of frames when going to Mission Control or App Expose.
I am returning this computer as there are other things I didn't like, but overall pretty impressive (no LED battery indicator, no Lock slot, no sleep light indicator...)
Please reply if you have same issue.

i think Macbook Pro is a good computer but plenty of issues, since day one.
i received my computer with space bar cracked. i figured this out @ night when the keyboard backlight was.
then my USB port ***** on it, it does not read all.
even after the update no go the USB port does not  work all the time with the apple usb to ethernet adapter.
while if i install vmware it does work on the windows in VMware environement.
my Camera also is not being detected    how can i fix the camera.
please do not tell me go to genius bar, they are all but not genius, if you have issue they ask you to format they do not know how to troubleshoot.
Conclusion problem with macbok retina version:
    isight Camera wont detect
USB port Does not work with all devices.
Space Bar key broken from manufacture.

  • Isight camera not working with skype on Win 7 Bootcamp

So I was happily running windows 7 (need it for work) on my MACBook (mid 2009) with Bootcamp 3.2 until a couple of weeks ago.
I updated something (either Skype or Bootcamp, etc) and all of a sudden, my iSight camera takes like 4-5 seconds to initialize, and the frame rates on the camera with Skype are like 1 new grab every 10-15 seconds.
    Anyone run into this before?
    Thanks,
    Wes

I know this is an older thread BUT I've been dealing with this issue for the past four days and this is what I found... (perhaps if it helps another person....)
Assuming you've already checked while on a Skype video call that your camera isn't turned off...
    FIRSTLY
Open Skype Preferences to verify your settings.
(prob in your downloads, applications folder or on your desktop)
Then at the top your screen, next to the Apple Icon you should see Skype:
Select Skype, then scroll down to Preferences.  Verify settings.
(Mine, for example, under the "Calls" Tab was set to autoanswer so I can check on
my dogs while away and tell them to get off the couch!)
    SECONDLY
Make sure another apple app isn't hijacking your camera.
Open Finder, Devices, Applications, then look for IChat
Once open, Select iChat and scroll down to preferences.
(For my settings, I don't use IChat SO I changed the "default IM application" to Skype,
    under General settings tab.)
    Select the green Audio/Video Tab
and uncheck "Open IChat when external camera is on"
    THIRDLY
I verified that all other Apps using the camera weren't open.  My insight camera worked
when I opened Photobooth,  IChat, Facetime and ICamSource (a monitoring program)
    - just didn't work with Skype!
From Desktop, go to Apple Icon, select "Force Quit Finder", then scroll down and
close everything that uses the camera.
    FINALLY
From Desktop, go to Apple Icon and select Restart (pic same as above).
Upon restarting, once the screen blanks out hold down the following keys all at once:
Option, Command and P and R keys.
For me, I heard the computer "restart song" chime twice before letting go.
    (PRAM and NVRAM settings)
    http://http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
I tried a Skype video call from an Iphone to Mac Desktop and it went through just fine!

My built in isight camera on my macbook works just fine in photobooth and in skype or ichat.. but just in the past week or so, it will not work when im on websites that use flash. I've seen some threads that say that I need to go into settings and make sure that the camera chosen is the USB. Your problem is not the same as that posted by the OP, and your system info shows you using Mac OS X (10.5.6).
For your symptoms with this system, I suggest you do the following:
    (1) Apply the 10.5.8 Combo Update using the following process:
      • Backup your Mac and turn off Time Machine
      • Disconnect peripherals and restart Mac
      • Use Disk Utility to repair permissions
      • Download and install
       http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_8_ComboUpdate
      • Repair permissions again immediately following the restart that finishes the update.
      • Test whether Flash works for you now.
(• Turn Time Machine on later when you are satisfied that the update worked.)
    (2) After applying the 10.5.8 Combo, if you are still having problems, download and install the latest Flash player compatible with your system:
      http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
Also check any other third-party browser plugins or other add ons. Apply all available updates and uninstall any third-party items that are known to be incompatible with your system.

  • (Slow Network): iSight camera not working in iChat since Leopard upgrade

I have a different type of iChat video issue. My Power Mac G4, 867 MHz, 1 GB DRAM is a supported Mac for the Leopard upgrade. I've successfully installed OS 10.5.
Also my Power Mac meets the iChat Conferencing Requirements for 1-on-1 Video Chat per the OS 10.5 system requirements and the application note here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301050
My iSight camera is connected via Firewire to an Apple Cinema Display, which feeds back to the Power Mac G4.
    1) When I boot from my 10.3.9 Carbon Copy Cloner backup my iSight works in iChat (at least locally to see myself) without any issue. Green light comes on and shows me locally on video and audio sound bars. Before the OS upgrade the iSight worked fine for live video conferences with iChat 2.1.3 under Mac OS 10.3.9
    2) Running OS 10.5 when I go to iChat 4.0's preferences video pane the following message is waiting "This computer does not support video conferencing."
    3) With Leopard iChat 4.0 the Connector Doctor under "capabilities" says "(Slow Network)" for 1-on-1 Video Chat and won't even show video locally or turn on the iSight's green light.

    Fixed!
My Power Mac Quicksilver G4, 867 MHz. problem with (Slow Network) in the iChat Connection Doctor, no video preview or video iChat since upgrading to OS 10.5 Leopard and iChat 4.0 has been solved with the following posted towards the end of the thread below. I can finally see my video preview with iChat 4.0 and have also video chatted successfully with one other user.

  • External iSight cam not working with iChat

I've got an external iSight cam that was working fine in 10.5.8 with iChat - I'm using 10.6.1 now. Now when I open iChat, the camera stays off (no green light) and iChat video preview says that another application is using the camera so it's not available, which of course, is not true.
I've tried everything I know, but can't get it to work. The camera works with Skype, so I know it's functioning properly.
When I checked the Connection Doctor, under Network, it says that there's something in my network setup that is preventing video chats, but I haven't changed anything since upgrading to SL. I have a direct ethernet cable to my DSL modem/router - Covad. My wife's iChat works fine with her new LogiTech camera, and she's on the same home network/router.
