Isight camera in iMovie not showing

I've been trying to record video with the isight camera in iMovie or iMovie HD and the camera is not showing up.  Skype, Facetime, Quicktime are all fine.  Can anyone help?

  • Changes I make in camera raw do not show up or update in bridge.

    Greetings.
    I’m working in PS CS4 in XP(government).
Changes I make in camera raw do not show up or update in bridge.
These images DO process with the changes when I run my actions.
For example: Open images in bridge. Edit. Open reaming images in camera raw. Push the images two stops in camera raw. Close camera raw. Images in bridge show no change. Run action to turn raw files into psd. Final PSD appear pushed two stops.
    Purging Cache make no difference.
    Thoughts?

You are using Embedded thumbnails.  These are small and fast, but do not show raw edits.
You need to use one of the HQ thumb options to see the edits.

  • Camera icon is not showing and mobile gets overheated quickly

The camera icon is not showing And I can't access camera and the device overheating quickly

You could simply access the camera by pressing and holding the camera dedicated key which is placed at the bottom of all other bottons.  Was your device every exposed to water? That could also be a reason of heating up. But if no , then you should turn off your device and wait about 10-15 minutes. After that power on your device and change the screen brightness to automatic or lower the brightness . You could also turn off Auto-sunc Data , location NFC , bluetooth. I know that playing boom beach with maximum screen brightness will really heat up your device but i never had a situation where my camera get's closed beucause of the heat. I had warnings that the device is getting warmer . If its possible press dont show again and OK and if the message gets closed you should be able to take some pictures.

  • Camera attributes do not show (sometimes)

I am aiming to configure a webcam (Trus Exis) so that the camera attributes can be configured in labview. This followed in a program (see attatched), however it sometimes does not work (camera attributes return empty and cannot be written). I am not totally sure of the problem as it appears quiet random, however after playing around a bit it appeared that it works better if I quickly stop and then start the vi again. To test this I placed the vi in a while loop and added a wait function. If this wait is 10ms the defect disappears, at 1sec it works about half the iterations, and at 10sec it occasionally works.
One thing I also noticed is that in IMAQdx Configure Grab VI the check if session in exists always returns true (so path isn't found) and the standard path (cam0) is sent. Now however, this is the same path that is inputted. So I suspect this might be a couse of the problem too.
Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this? Help is greatly appriciated.

    Hello ThiCop,
Thanks for your reaction, in The max it is showing that the camera connection is DirectShow. I have rebooted my pc so I could give you a clean MAX report (plugged in webcam after windows booted). This is the ni_support.zip. Here all camera Attributes show and can be edited at will (I think this is the sometimes that my program does work). Then I closed the MAX and reopened it (you could see it check for the webcam again and it was found again) this is the second report, here the camera attributes do not show.
I tried opening your reccomended vi to test it but as I have labview 9.0 (student edition) I was unable to open it. I have however used the NI examble Grab and basic attributes.vi and here it worked after rebooting the pc. Stopping and restarting the program makes the vi stop being able to edit the attributes (still getting image though). As said before I suspect it might have something to do with time between starting and stopping the VI. If I place a grab and read attribute configuration in a while loop (so that the camera is configured and stopped multiple times) it appears that with a short wait (so a short time betueen the stopping and restarting) it works more often then with a long wait. Here the long wait still shows a immage if the attributes are not shown.
Although it might seem like a strange problem I hope you can help me further. Just ask for more info if I have not suppied enough.
    Thanks in advance

  • External isight camera with imovie on maverick?

Can someone please recommend an external iSight (or other) Camera to use which can record video directly into  iMove on Maverick?
When trying to import a video, a drop down window shows the built-in iSight camera, as if options could possibly be available.  If so, what might they be?
Thanks for any and all help!

    You're welcome, Bill.

Use built-in iSight camera or a tape-based camera or camcorder: iMovie '11: Record video directly into iMovie.
If you have access to an old tape-based mini-DV camcorder with Firewire connection capability, you can use it. For example, my old Sony DCR-TRV17 and DCR-TRV70 camcorders work great with iMovie, both for import and, when connected via Firewire cable, for recording directly into iMovie.  Both give better resolution than my old external Firewire iSights, and the camcorders offer the possibility of manual focus and zoom controls when needed.
As an alternative to recording directly into iMovie, record video and save movie files using QuickTimeX and a camera built into your Apple display or Mac, a DV camera connected via FireWire, and some USB webcams.  Then Import the movie files into iMovie for editing.
Bill Cruise wrote: ... Apple iSight camera ... is no longer sold or supported by Apple... I may go ahead and buy one...
My external iSights (I have two) are great webcams, but they are getting old as consumer electronics go.  Both of mine still work as well as they did when they were new. However, some previously owned or even NOS (new, old stock) iSights may have been damaged by rough treatment or improper storage.
An honest seller may offer you return or exchange privileges.  If not, and if you don't want to spend the money to have your external iSight serviced, consider a new, Mac-compatible USB cam instead.
A new cam will include a current manufacturer's warranty, and a USB cam is not subject to the possible conflicts that can cause difficulties with the old Firewire-connected iSights.
Bill Cruise wrote:...Wonder why this info is so far to find? ...
It should not be.  Let us know the specifics, and we will try to guide you to any other info you still need.
Bill Cruise wrote: ... better alternatives...using external cameras, and then importing the movie....works, but seems like quite a bit of extra hassle versus direct input to iMovie.
When your Mac recognizes more than one connected compatible camera, the others will also show in your a drop down window that shows the built-in iSight camera.
In fact the best alternative I have found for recording directly into iMovie is to use the built-in iSight camera in my MacBook Pros and my Apple LED Display. The resolution of any of these built-ins is better than the 640x480 of the old external Firewire iSights.  The built-ins are also higher resolution than my old Sony camcorders.
As for your "extra hassle" comments, once you try using QuickTimeX and importing into iMovie, I doubt that you will find it a problem unless recording video is your primary use of your Mac.  It is very easy to do, and you can use the QuickTime file as a good backup for your original source material that is easy to offload to a different disk for safekeeping.

  • Can't use LINE IN audio with iSight Camera on iMovie 08

I want to record a video, using the internal iSight camera of my iMac, but I want to use the "line in" audio instead of the internal microphone of my iMac. I have tried for hours, and done the obvious things (selecting "line in" under System Preferences). I can record audio perfectly using Sound Studio or other programs, so it's not like the Mac isn't getting the audio. The problem is convincing iMovie to accept the audio of the Line In rather than the internal microphone of the iSight camera.
Thanks to all who would reply.

I've had the same problem, and it seems that this is simply not possible in iMovie... Disappointed!
Instead, having set 'line in' as input under System Preferences, fire up Quicktime Player and choose New Movie Recording under the File menu.
The movie will be recorded using system sound input, i.e. line in. It can then be opened / imported in iMovie for editing et c.
This works for me with the built in iSight on an intel Penryn Macbook Pro.

  • iMovie not showing SOME of my iPhoto movies. Why?

I import all my movies into iPhoto with the same Canon camera. No problem there.
In iMove, the "iPhoto videos" section has stopped adding/showing new movies. I have a bunch that were added recently that are simply not showing up.
They are exact;y the same format, etc. as all the others.

After calling Apple (they were no help and I was disappointed) I kept searching in the Apple support community and found the answer.
To get iMovie '11 to show the iPhoto videos under the event library on the bottom left of iMovie, you simply have to empty your iPhoto trash.  Once the trash was emptied, I restarted iMovie and the problem was fixed after iMovie did a search and showed the thumbnails of the videos.
Again, this info came from another person on the support community.  Hope this helps someone else.

  • IMovie not Showing recently imported iPhoto videos

Hello. I am trying to view FLIP videos I recently imported into iPhoto within the iMovie app. I can see a few from 2008 and 2009 but not the entire collection. I believe the iphoto videos iMovie is showing me came from a Sony Hard Drive camera. Any ideas? Any thoughts? Thanks.

I decided to import all the original AVIs and they worked OK (except one folder the thumbnails were all black so had to regenerate thumbnails and is OK now).
So assume there must have been a problem with some of the .mp4 files, even though I ran the conversion of all AVIs the same time with same settings.

  • ISight Camera with iMovie HD 6.0.3

I have a dy unibody MacBook Pro 15-inch released in June 2009. iMovie HD is not recognizing my iSight Camera. I have the latest version of Snow Leopard. Does the program just not recognize the cameras on the new computers/new OS?

Yup I tried everything and it is the same with all user accounts. It is ONLY in iMovie HD. The other iMovie works fine as do other apps.
Thanks. The next thing I would try is to backup the Mac and then reinstall the iMovie app that is giving problems.
I suggest repairing permissions before AND after reinstalling. Then use your Mac's Software Update... menu command to ensure you have the latest version. If you need an update, do another permissions repair after the update is completed.
I am not certain of this, but *I think it is possible that doing the IM6.x reinstall may necessitate reinstalling iM8.x* (the one from iLife '09.) Therefore, carefully consider whether you want to reinstall IM6.x now. One possible workaround is to use QuickTimeX or the working iMovie version to capture your iSight video clips. You can then import the captured into IM6.x for editing.

  • ISight camera in iMovie

well i have iMovie on my computer.. and for some reason my iSight camera is not being read by iMovie.. the camera works and everything, because iPhoto works.. but is there anything i can do to fix it or anything?
    thanks,
    Randi

Here's what you can to do:
    Quit iMovie
Goto Macintosh HD>System folder>Library folder>LaunchDaemons folder>find the following file: com.apple.mio.VDCAssistant.plist and move this file to Trash.
Restart you mac and open iMovie.
You should see iSight as your choose.
    YMMV.
    Good Luck.
