ISight "did not respond"

Question

using a macbook...OS 10.4.7 the person im trying to video chat with is using the same setup but when we try to video chat we get the message "the user did not respond" despite the fact that we are both accepting the requests. in addition to this, when the video chat request is accepted, the camera icons in the buddy list will "dim" for a few seconds, then the error message will show up. can someone please alleviate this situation...i had tons of issues with the iSight for my iBook, and now i still have issues with the iSight on my MacBook.
btw-the connection doctor says "chat ended with error -8"

You do know that we are not Apple support, but just other Mac users trying to help each other; if we have some experience that we can share, don't you?
Apple to the best of my knowledge does not answer or even read any of these discussions threads unless a "trip-word" or report draws their attention for not staying within the rules.

And be sure to check out the reference to Ralph John's link/site. He's put a lot of time & effort into it for no gain but the chance that his experience might help someone else.
Or just try typing in error-8 in quotes in the "Search Discussions" and see if any of the solutions offered will help you out.
