Isight disconnecting from ichat -- but there is no "green screen"

Aloha!
My Macbook is a day old and photobooth works fine. When i first booted it up, it requested to take a picture of me and that worked fine too. The problems stared when I wanted to video chat with fellow macbook users --- i saw myself and it said "starting chat" but then told me I didn't respond! I've tried rebooting and clicking around on preferences and the chat with different people. What can I do?

IS your Mac's firewall On ?
If so look at the second pic on this page

These same ports need to be open or allowed in your modem and any other router you have.
iChat is like an On-Line game that uses Ports above the normal Web browser and Mail app ones.

My external iSight works in iChat, but NOT quicktime 7 pro when i try to make a movie recording. No audio, no video, nothing. But, iChat works. This is on a brand new mac pro with the latest leopard. Any ideas????

With no other video capable apps running and your working iSight connected and turned on when you launch QT 7 Pro, try these suggestions to see whether one of them fixes your problem:
(0) Try all suggestions applicable to your system from Apple's How to Troubleshoot iSight.
(1) Check that your QuickTime Player > Preferences > Recording settings are correct.
(2) Repair Permissions and test to see if iSight works with QT Pro now.
(3) Disconnect all peripheral and test again to check for hardware or software conflicts.
(4) Download and reinstall QuickTime 7.4 for Leopard. Repair permissions and test movie recording.
If you must post back for other suggestions, please clarify and expand on your QT problem. Please be specific. For example, can you see but not execute the QuickTime Player > File > New Movie Recording menu command? Can you execute the menu command but find that the recording window does not open? Does the recording window open but you find the "Record" button is not clickable? Etc.?
Also please tell us whether you found that QuickTime is the ONLY problem app in EVERY user account you tried when you used Apple's Troubleshooting suggestions.
Finally, if you currently have ANY other problems with your Mac, please describe them all.

"you have been disconnected from iChat Services"

I have been using iChat for years, never a problem. Everything else on the computer is working, so it is not the modem, airport, etc. But when I try to open iChat it tries to start up but then I get the message:
"You have been disconnected from iChat services. An internal error has occurred that disconnected you from all iChat services".
it says to login again, so i do....and get the same message over and over.
Any thoughts/ideas? We use our video chat at least once a day and it's been like this for 2 days now.

If since you have upgraded to 10.6
Try logging on to AIM on port 443 rather than port 5190.
Go to IChat in the menu bar > Preferences > Accounts.
Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
Set the port to 443(press return/enter(you might have to tick and untick SSL for 443 to stick)).
Log back in again.

Disconnected from iChat

Hi there,
Fisrt of all thank you very much for the information displayed on these pages, it is extremely useful.
I have not been able to use iChat. I am connected to the internet via cable modem (the ISP is Comcast) and I have the firewall off. When I use my mac account to connect to iChat, this is the message I get:
Disconnected from iChat Agent
The iChat Agent process has unexpectedly quit, disconnecting you from all services. Logging in again will restart it.
When I use my AIM account, the message is:
Lost Connection with AIM
The connection to the host was unexpectedly lost.
I have talked to Comcast and they say that they do not block any ports....Any ideas???

Hi Francisco,
OK Mac Firewall ports
Open System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall tab.
Select the New Button
Select Other from the drop down at the top
Type 5190, 5220, 5222, 5223, 5298 in the TCP port line
Type 5060, 5190, 5297, 5298, 5678, 16384-16403 in the UDP line.
Guve the entry a name in Description and then the Add or OK button.
These ports will be for iChat AV Bonjour and Jabber

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Disconnected from iChat Agent

I was having an intermittent problem with the iChat Agent unexpectedly quitting. I deleted the ichat agent plist file and now I cannot log in to my AIM account at all with iChat. I persistently get the "Disconnected from iChat Agent" error.
I downloaded Adium and set it up and I can log in using this instant messaging client. Any ideas on how I can get iChat to work so that I can use the screensharing capabilities?

I would delete the com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist one now.
If that does not sort it I would download the Combo version of the OS update and install it over the top.

Do they have a cloud icon next to them? If they do, they aren't on the iPad so you can't delete them. They are in iCloud ready for you to download them if you want to and they are visible in the music app for this purpose.
If you don't want to see these songs that are in iCloud, go to Settings> iTunes & App Store>Show all>Music>Off.

it means the phone is online but the locational services have been disabled.
if you are trying find my iPhone then go to:
settings>locational services>find my iphone>on
find my iphone is the last option in locational services.

Is there a professional green-screen photo booth app I can use for events?

I'm trying to set up a photo booth for an events company, but one that allows green screen capabilities, and one that people can use on their own without the aid of a photographer. The best app I've found online so far is SimpleBooth Pro:

There are no limits. But there is a known memory leak (which is being fixed for a later release).
Would it be possible to attach a sample SWC so that we can confirm whether this is a known leak or not? I'll take care of filing this in bugs.adobe.com.
Meanwhile, in your Flash Builder installation directory, you can edit FlashBuilder.ini to bump up max heap size by editing:
-Xmx512m
to
-Xmx800m

Facebook disconnecting from iChat

I've been using iChat / Jabber to chat with Facebook friends for a long time now. Today, in the middle of a chat, iChat disconnected from Facebook. I can connect a number of other ways, but iChat is a little more comfortable for text chats. I have tried reconnecting and restarting iChat, but the connection to Facebook keeps dropping. (I have verified that I am online and connected to Facebook through browsers).
I am running iChat 6.02 on Lion OS 10.7.5. Any ideas for fixing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

As far as I can tell from the posts I am reading on this matter it seems to be something at the Facebook end that has changed.
This may be linked to two items which might or might apply to you.
1) On the Facebook Account settings at Facebook is the Chat option which needs to be enabled.
In the Security area of the Settings is a reference to allowing "Unknown Browsers"
It seems if you set certain security settings your regular Browser is "known" and others are not. As Chat can be via Jabber capable apps it might apply to other apps as well such as iChat and Messages.
2) In Message > Preferences > Accounts any Jabber Accounts lists in the Chat setting tab there is a listing for Priority
It is not there in iChat 5 but I am not sure about iChat 6
Testing in iChat 4 and Google Mail showed the app and the Web Browser Login to GoogleMail and the "Talk" option there appeared to have the same Priority.
That appeared to be 23. I have the Psi app and this defaults to 5 as the Priority.
I am not sure if higher or lower numbers are more important.
In Messages the default is 0 (zero) which maybe a "null" number.
As a Mac can have several Logins to Facebook to do different things it may pay to change the Priority.

Why would iSight "disconnect" from the computer during iMovie recording?

I was just in the middle of recording a song, got to around 7 minutes when all of a sudden the iMovie recording panel went to blank with a big red sign saying "NO CAMERA CONNECTED". When I went back to the little drop down menu to record and selected "iSight built in" it allowed me to record again.
What could cause this? I am running very low on disk space ATM, somewhere in the region of 200MB left until I transfer all my recordings from today onto my external, could that have something to do with it? Maybe not enough virtual memory space left to run the camera?
Although in fairness I have 2GB of RAM and nothing else is running except one window in Safari (with only text) and a youtube window in Firefox...
Anyone know? And is there any way to prevent this from happening? I assumed since iSight is built in it couldn't "disconnect" from the machine, and in the middle of filming? Seems very odd...

There's no green screen on my iMovie 11', what do I do?

I got iLife 11' and I've rying to use the green screen but I don't have a thing for green screen built into my iMovie 11' what do I do?

Flash Player has sound but video is a green screen.

I am running Windows 7 x64 and did a new install on a new HD. No problem with my old HD installation. I have an ATI XFX 6700 series video card, 8 GB computer RAM. I have tried manual un-install per the youtube video. I have deleted two Windows update files KB2735855 and KB2750841. I installed the latest version of Flash Player 11.6.602 after reboot and the problem is in my primary browser Maxthon 3 and in IE9. Both of these browsers work just fine for video, on my old HD.
I have re-installed the Maxthon browser as well. Always a green screen in Flash video but the HTML video works ok. The Adobe detector shows :
This is after the sucessful update to 11.6.602.171 I also don't understand why it shows Chrome browser which I didn't have untill the Flash update snuck it in on the last download. This showed Chrome even before that and I don't beleive Maxthon is a Chrome browser. I have run out of options except to try a Window restore. What can I do to get this fixed? Very frustrated.
Other video card info:

Pat, the video does work in Chrome. But the Flash detector (1st picture) showed I was using Chrome before it was ever installed. I think Adobe should at least recognize Maxthon browser and suggest the correct version of Flash.
I have the latest video driver and it was installed during my Windows install on the HD. Perhaps it is a newer version than the one on my old drive, I will have to check. I still have the green screen and I want to get video working in Maxthon which is a far better browser than anything esle I have tried.
The Flash player in Chrome shows it is Adobe Flash 11.6.602.171, while the right clicking in the video player on Maxthon shows it is 11.5.502.110 so obviously Flash is not updating after I downloaded and ran the updater. How can I get rid of this old version, I have tried the manual uninstall? There must be some registry entries that are not being deleted.
