Isight green light keeping coming on

hi i bought a macbook (white) and recently the green light by the isight keeps coming on its really annoying i dont really use photobooth or any other application/programme which requires the camera and dont download any widgets so why is this happening the only way to turn it off is to shutdown and take battery out and hold power button but this not a permanenet solution because the problem persists after a couple of days
i know other macbook users experience the same problems as well....
are there any permanent solutions or should i just take it back to apple?

Try EVERY relevant suggestions from Apple's TroubleShooting suggestions at:
  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
If the none of the relevant suggestions there give you a "permanent" solution, the "take it back to apple" solution is necessary:
If your built-in iSight camera is still not behaving correctly after trying all these steps, you may need to contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

  • Macbook pro ( v 10.6.2, 2.53 GHz) iSight green light constantly on from startup (even before the grey startup screen).

The iSight green light seems to always be turned on on my macbook pro. I've tried rebooting, but the light comes one even before the grey startup screen comes up.  The camera works fine in Photobooth etc, full picture, unlike all of the other posts. I already reset PRAM, and it didn't work. The laptop was recently refurbished. Thanks! Any help would be appreciated.

    See this article.
    I don't think it's a RAM problem.  It's really a corrupted file or a damaged hard drive.

  • Virus? Cam light keeps coming on

    I have a WebCam5.
For past few days my cam light keeps coming on, as if the cam was in use, followed by a warning 'beep' that i can't seem to find a reason for.
The web cam control panel does not start, but this is still concerning to have the 'cam on' light turning on and off by itself.
I thought it may be a virus, but i have run my norton virus checker, adware checkers, deleted the cam software and reinstalled it......nothing seems to work.... it has never done this in the few years that i have had it.
    any ideas..........

You could very well be on the right track with the thought about the steam from your shower, but try a reset (home button & power switch till the gray Apple shows) anyway. I believe, I would allow it to dry completely first, power it off, then try the reset if drying doesn't fix it.

  • ISight Green Light, on Start Up.

What is up with this thing.. it does this every once n' a while when I turn it on, and sometimes it'll do it all day. It's annoying. Im about to go to the apple store and complain, all I see is a dumb green light on the isight.. and im not even using it...

what did the people at the apple store say about this? I hope they didnt say re-install the OS, cause I did that and it didn't help, so it's hardware

  • ISight Green Light on and iSight Does Not Work

I noticed last night the green light was on for the internal iSight camera. I tried various isight programs (iChat, Photobooth, Skype) and none of the programs show a any issues, just a black screen where there should be an image of me looking pretty. I also checked system profile and it recognizes the camera on the USB port. I have used this camera many times and it has never been an issue. Anyone seen this before?

  • ISight green light is on, Photobooth shows green screen

Yeah, I started up my computer today and for some reason the camera light is on but I'm not even using it. I tried opening Photobooth so that I could quit it, and maybe the camera would go off, but Photobooth just shows a blank, green screen.
    Anyone got any solutions?

    Hey,
I had this issue awhile back too, I had no idea what caused it. I'm not sure if this is a real fix but I ran AHT(Apple Hardware Test) and it didn't find any issues, but after the test completed I booted up into OS X and everything was fine.

I have no idea if this is an actual real fix, but you can give it a try.
Heres a forum thread with the same issue: iSight Problem

  • Iphone light keeps coming on

    Hello
I have this really anoying problem with my iPhone 2G. The light (and slider to unlock) appears a few times per minute. I have searched hours over the internet and found no answer. Why is this happening? it is anoying to see lights once in a while with the back of my eye and it's draining all my battery.
wifi, bluetooth is not on. I do not have any net/mail accounts set up on it.
Also, togheter with this problem came another one. If i try to shut off, it just restarts.
Yesterday it was working fine and today.. this..
I read somewhere that someone had the same problem due to some water spilling on it. and the water dried and the phone came back to normal.. well.. the phone was in the bathroom today and I took a long shower..perhaps the steam had something to do with this? But I think it should have dried by now.
    Anyone has any ideas?
    thanks

  • Apple Aluminium Wireless Keyboard - Bluetooth setup sees the keyboard but then green light flashes and it won't pair

I am desperately hoping someone can help me out here...
I have a 1st generation aluminium Apple Wireless Keyboard — the one that needs three batteries, as opposed to two — and it refuses to pair with any of my three Macs.
I was originally using it — for a few years — on an old G4 Mac Mini running Tiger then later on, Leopard.
I recently sold the Mini but in the days leading up to the sale some strange things were happening with the keyboard ...the number '7' key became non-responsive 90% of the time and the Keyboard Viewer app showed it as being constantly pressed down. Every other key was working 100% ok.
Fast forward a few days after the sale of my Mini: Now when I try to connect the keyboard to any of my other Macs, the Bluetooth Setup sees the keyboard no problem at all but when I click 'Continue' to go the the pairing stage, the process just keeps failing!
Whenever I turn my keyboard on I get the expected solid green light for two or three seconds, but after that the keyboard's green light keeps repeatedly blinking until I turn the keyboard off again.
I did notice that the Bluetooth Setup will only ever see the keyboard in those first few seconds when the light is a solid green ...if I wait until the lights starts blinking and then start up the Bluetooth Setup, it does not see the keyboard at all.
If anyone can shed any light on this, I would be enternally grateful!!!! ...especially as I was recently made redundant — that's 'Laid-off' for any Americans reading this! — and I would rather not have to buy yet another expensive Apple keyboard when I'm jobless and really should not have to!!!
I read about a lot of people who's Macs sinply don't see their keyboard, but it's extra frustrating for me as my Macs do see the keyboard but won't bloody well pair with it!
Thanks again to anyone taking the time to read this!

The keyboard and mouse should have come from the factory already paired to the Mac. But if it didn't see this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1809

  • No power and green light on my hp pavilion is flashing

    Hello,
I'm trying to figure out if the power supply on my hp is bad or not. The green light on back of the tower is flashing and the computer won't turn on. I've tried all of the preliminary things and nothing works -- the green light keeps blinking until I disconnect the large plug to the motherboard, then the light stays on and doesn't blink. Once I have the power cord disconnected and the main plug to the motherboard disconnected as well, I then have tried replugging the power cord and then replugging the main plug to the motherboard (kind of trying to jump start it), the fan tries to come one (but only for a second, then goes back off, so it won't boot).
Does anyone know if this means that the power supply is bad or if something else might be wrong? I'm wondering if the power supply would be bad when the computer is clearly trying to start, but not quite making it.
    This question was solved.

My wife's computer has been having the same problem several times. One solution I found that worked before was to unplug the motherboard power cable and the PSU power cable from the back of the PC and then connect the power cable and connect the motherboard power cable while holding down the power button. Scary, to say the least, but it worked, until one day I accidentally flipped the wrong breaker and then spend two hours trying the same solution with no luck and Googling again. And here is what I found. This is the simplest yet crudest solution. It’s easy and non invasive and it doesn’t matter how tech savvy you are. Take a blow dryer and turn it on to blow air at the back of the power supply for a couple minutes. When you see the light turn green you’re all set. It's worked for me after it worked for a hundred others, maybe more. See the testimonials on this site: http://talk19.wordpress.com/2008/01/13/hp-m7088d-power-supply-led-blinks-green/. It’s a shame that nothing like this appears on any HP site. So don’t waste your money on a new MoBo or PSU. All you need is your wife’s hair drier.

OK then are you on any web sites that have a video conferencing capability like Facebook, Google Plus, etc. They can use your webcam too.
K T is correct, when the green light comes on something is activating your camera and you can potentially be seen.

  • ISight Camera not working and green light won't cut off

Ok, so I used to use macs all the time (exclusively) then I left for a few years, and now that I am back I have had a great experience so far except for this oddity...
I have no idea why but all of the sudden my little green light beside my built-in isight camera won't go away, I am not even trying to use it in any application. When I do, however, try to use it in photobooth for example it yields nothing but blackness. So, to troubleshoot I figured I'd try two things:
Re-installing Mac OS X from scratch using the CDs that came with it (no big loss, I wanted to customize the installation anyways)
Reset the SMC (I am used to resetting PRAM and stuff like that, so it's been a while for me)
Both of those have yielded no change.
I would have searched the forums for answers but apparently that feature has been turned off temporarily to help "improve support", or something I read rather quickly earlier lol
So I call upon you, Mac Geniuses, to please come to my aid...surely there is something else I can do to fix the isight on my macbook. I just got it, granted I got it refurbished from Apple, I expected nothing less than top notch from Apple as they have always delivered before.
Thanks in advance for any help!!
    -Joshua

Ok, my mistake...When I went to reset the SMC I noticed when I upgraded the memory the retention bar that holds things *around the battery, I guess* into place wasn't in there the way it should be, the metal tab wasn't in it's little slot, so I fixed that error, then went on with the procedure and then no more problem
I'm an idiot, Apple rules, I'll be the first to admit it LOL
    Have a great day!

  • Isight camera green light blink

My isight camera green light blinks every two seconds, when I try to use facetime or any other application of isight. And of course, the camera is not working.
I'm using a Macbook Pro, just bought it a month ago.
Does anyone have the same problem or have a way to solve this annoying issue?

Yes.  Your retailer does.  He can either: (1) determine whether your new Mac needs repair or replacement, or (2) show you how to make your camera work correctly.
