ISight - Green Scree, not connected/in use - Works in windows... not in osx

Sorry to create ANOTHER thread here, but no one has seemed to mention this yet.
I got my macbook pro 4 days ago (first mac!) and i love it!
On opening it up, had a bit of a blast around, then tried photobooth and was greeted with the No camera, or camera in use message.
Lovely! rebooted, still the same, checked in the sys profiler and it wasnt even appearing as a device (should be under usb).
I tried many things to fix it, Resetting NVRAM and Power Cycling, nothing working...
I got fed up with fixing it and installed bootcamp.
After installing the drivers i loaded the camera in XP... and it worked!
Jumping back into osx, i see that the camera is now reconised by the system (under USB in the system profiler) but every program that can access it is either displaying green or black.
I read that bootcamp had updated isight drivers, so i checked my version... wich is 1.84
the latest drivers supplied with bootcamp are 1.82??
perhaps this is the problem? even a fresh install of osX did not get the cam working! odlly... only windows managed it!
I love this machine, its great! wish it 'just worked'
i was thinking i will try extracting the isightdrivers.pkg from the bootcamp installer and see if i can downgrade!
I may just take it in to an apple shop though... ive only had it 4 days!
also Apple didnt forward on my house number to the couriers (they had it, it was the billing address!), so the package wasnt delivered, the courier just put it through as 'unable to collect'... then the courier didnt re-schedule my delivery when i asked them to so i had to go pick it up!!!!!! - not impressed apple!
iSight could be a driver problem! Has anyone else who has the green screen probs found that the isight works in windows?
The iSight on mine hasnt worked once in Osx! It annoys me though that its working in windows... i dont like software problems i cant fix...

Welcome to Apple Discussions, MrNibbles
You did well in creating your thread - a perfect use of Apple Discussions.
As explained in the Apple Discussions Help pages, Apple Discussions is a user-to-user support forum.
Therefore, your comment that you are "not impressed apple!" with your Apple Store service regarding delivery may be better addressed via item "9." on the right side of this page
   http://www.apple.com/support/store/
This method will allow you to send written comments about your problem directly to Apple. I know that contacting Apple now cannot undo the fact that you needed to travel rather than having your parcel delivered, but your message will get directly to Apple if you use the web mail page.
<hr width="85%">
Your new Mac certainly ought to work properly out of the box. You sound like an experienced computer user. It is unfortunate that you are having problems with your new Mac's iSight. I do not have an iNtel Mac, but, if you get no better suggestions here, here are a couple of ideas you can consider.
Have you tried Apples suggestions re: the Built-in iSight in How to Troubleshoot iSight?
If your OS X System Profiler still does not recognize your (USB) built-in iSight after trying those suggestions, I think you are wise to follow your instinct to "take it in to an apple shop".
If the trek to your "apple shop" is an inconvenience for you, and if you have not already done so, you might want to try a software reinstall.
Back up any important data you have already accumulated, and then use the "Restore" Software disk that came with your new Mac to zero your hard drive. Finally, reinstall the software and finish with a Permissions Repair.
Once you have performed a known-good installation of all software, you should never need to reinstall again. There are no guarantees, but a fresh install might save you a trip.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I'm afraid you'll have to get the phone serviced, dropping the phone must have damaged additional parts inside the phone.
But Apple will not service the phone anymore, opening the phone and replacing the battery should only be done by authorized personal, not by users.
You'll have to look for a 3rd party repair shop and see if they can fix this, sorry.

  • IPhone 5 will not connect to brand new MBA/iTunes. Error message is "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not connect to the device."

    Hi!
I've had my iPhone 5 for just over a year now, and I haven't really had any problems since iOS7 was installed. I had a PC, with no connectivity problems between any of my Apple devices. Then FINALLY, I purchased my very first Macbook Air 13". I set it all up, updated all the apps, and made sure it was good to go. My iPhone was really low on battery one day, and I just happened to have my USB for it handy and thought I would just plug it into my computer to charge it. I figured I worry about syncing it later as I hadn't really had time to set it all up with iTunes on the new computer.
MY PHONE WENT CRAZY. It just started vibrating all over the table. Looking at the battery icon, it was flipping between charging and not charging, and occasionally the "do you trust this device" window would pop up on the screen, but it was still going crazy. iTunes opened up and these alerts saying "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not connect to the device." and "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. This device is no longer connected." All it was doing at this point was using up even more battery. But then the iPhoto app opened by itself on my shiny new Macbook and the vibrating stopped. It was charging and syncing! But not having iPhotos before on a computer weirded me out i hadn't decided exactly what I wanted to do with it, I closed the app. The phone went nuts again. ***. On a different day, I was trying to sync it again, and it worked. But only long enough to back it up on the macbook. W.T.F.
Plugging into any PC is no problem at all. The phone just connects and starts charging.
I've tried just about everything. All of my software is up to date, both on the mac and iphone. The USB cord is fine. I've reset the macbook with it plugged in and not plugged in. I have uninstalled, and reinstalled iTunes with the phone plugged in and not plugged in. I've reset all the contents and settings on my iPhone, as well as did a hard reset with it plugged in and not plugged in. My iPad has no problem connecting and it also has iOS7. It's just so weird though, that it starts connecting/disconnecting interchangeably as soon as I plug it into the computer, even when all my apps are closed. All this is leading me to believe that it must be some sort of issue between the devices' communication to each other. But I'm not sure if it's an iPhone, MacBook, or iTunes issue!
    HHHHEEEEELLLLLLPPPPP!!!!!

I had this same problem with my new MBP 15", but only with the USB port on the left side. The USB port on the right side worked fine. Perhaps the ports on the left don't have enough signal energy for the iPhone.
Anyway, try using a different USB port, and if that doesn't work, perhaps you could try a powered USB hub.

  • My IPad2 will not connect to the internet, "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding."  My AirPort utility shows that I am connected.  What could be the problem?

My iPad2 will not connect to the internet, "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding".  I've run the AirPort utility and it shows that I'm connected to my Wi-Fi.  The connection works with both my iMac and iPhone.  I'm concerned that the problem is with hardware rather than software.

    Try the following:
    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    3. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo

  • Start Menu Configuration not being saved using BootCamp in Windows 7

On a couple nearly identical MacBook Pros (ordered and built within the last couple months) I've encountered an issue where my Start Menu configuration is not being saved using BootCamp in Windows 7. Only the 64 bit version was tested, I don't have a 32 bit handy.
"Stickying" icons on the top of the shortcuts seems to hold, but changing the display to small icons, adding "administrative tools", menu displays from opening folders to showing lists, or even just telling it to not highlight newly installed programs are lost on a reboot. The changes do appear to work at first, but again, are lost on reboot.
Fwiw I'm using the machine in an Active Directory environment. If you need any additional information or further details just ask.

  • ITunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not allocate a resource.

iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not allocate a resource.

A user named Benxine found a fix that worked for me after failing with all the others:
IF your computer has an old cydia app called Wi-Fi Sync (you'll recognize it on your toolbar as a black silhouette of an iphone that NEVER goes away), then this is probably your main culprit.  Simple fix.
    1. Goto your hard drive in the finder
    2. Goto Library
    3. Goto Launch Daemons
    4. Throw this in the trash:  com.ghughes.wifisync.root.plist
    5. Goto Library
    6. Goto Application Support
    7. Throw this in the trash:  Wi-Fi Sync (it's an entire folder).
    8. Restart.
    9. Thank Benxine!!

Downloaded 5.1.1 to my iphone. Now, Safari will not connect to my server. Can not download web pages and many of my apps. Email seems to be ok. iphone running slow and sluggish.  I have read several other users have experienced the same problem. Any solutions?

Basic troubleshooting steps oultlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
You need to go through all steps in succession until your problem is solved.  If going through ALL these steps fails to resolve your issue, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

Okay ... it's a better bet with a 1067 error message when trying to start the Apple Mobile Device Service, but we'd better check for a LSP issue, as per the following document:
