ISight not connecting properly

Hi, my isight doesn't seem to be working when I try to connect with another person. I can see a video preview but then when I try to iChat with someone it says I failed to respond to the connection. The green light only comes on during the video preview or when I try to iChat but otherwise it is off, and the camera icon next to my name on iChat used to have three cameras and now it only has one. I have a Powerbook G4. Please, what should I do?
Thanks,
Sarah

Hi Sarah:
To connect to other persons using iChat, you need to open up the proper ports in your router (if you have one)
This may help: http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page4.html#_modemroutersettings
As far as your stacked icons, try logging off iChat and logging back in, that sometimes will correct the issue, otherwise if you don't leave your mac on 24/7, you may need to do some housekeeping.
This may help for housekeeping (it doesn't hurt anything): http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607640&#607640

I have designed a workflow with 4 steps like start. process, approve, stop via DM. I am getting the following error while saving the workflow design
: Step start is not connected properly. I could not save the wrkflow design.
Here am giving the start step properties :
    Name : Start
    Check Out records : No
    Duration Timeout : 1 wk
    Cc: Notification  :  [owner]
    Send Next step  : [Anyone]

I have checked in the DM by selecting the record in the main table and righ clicking on that workflows->Add to job is also disabled.
I have checked the same by closing visio but still "Add to job" is grayed out.
Can anybody guide in the visio why am unable to save the
workflow design and Add to job is disabled?
    Please help me out...
    Thanks & Regards
    Sireesha.

    Hi,
    Problem 1
Please check if the start step of the workflow is properly connected to the next step.Connect it properly and save.
    Problem 2
    Add to job is disabled
to resolve this problem go to workflow table in data manager select your workflow name in Records pane then go to Record Detail and check if the Active ="Yes" if not then assign Active="Yes".This will surely solve your problem.

  • PLEASE HELP! ETHERNET CABLE IS NOT CONNECTING PROPERLY WITH FIOS ROUTER

I recently purchased a time capsule to use in conjunction with my mac. When I am prompted to connect the ethernet cable from the lan port on my fios router to the wan port on the tc, the cable will not connect properly to the lan port on the tc. If I connect it from the lan on the fios router to the lan on the tc the green indicator lights up to indicate a connection but this does not help the wan port situation. I am able to locate the network I created from my mac but this tc network is not connected to the internet as indicated by the amber blinking light on the front of the tc. Also since creating this non working tc network, my fios signal is almost non existant! I am new to all of this so any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!!

Don't worry about the cable. For now.
Set the TC to bridge mode.. In bridge there is no wan port.. so you can use any port on the TC.
Test with the TC plugged in FIOS.. use in turn all the ports to see if it will work.
Do not change any setting but bridge the TC from default.. ie do not set extend wireless.. that will totally foul it up. Do not use join wireless, that will triple foul it up. Absolute default.. set TC to bridge... plug into the FIOS.. ethernet to any port that the light goes on.
Do a snapshot of the TC setup from airport utility and post.

  • External iSight not working properly, please offer advice

I purchased an original iSight after having problems with my USB cam. I just did a clean install of Leopard on my mac pro. The USB cam would get errors in iChat such as "Camera in use by another application, etc).
I uninstalled the iChatUSBcam software, checked the Library/quicktime folder, etc.
I hooked up the iSight and it seemed to work, then the video went a bit haywire. I thought it was just a glitch, but when I tried to video chat, the other user could not hear my voice. I checked the System pref sound input and it was on the iSIght, but the meter was not responding properly.
I thought it may be a hardware issue, so I tested the iSight on my mac mini (G4) - It worked perfectly.
I have uninstalled iChat and reinstalled it from the Leopard disk. Still no go...
    Does anyone have any thoughts?

    Hello mlevack
You have tried a lot of things. Here are a few ideas you can consider.
    (0) Check for possible hardware or software conflicts.
    (1) With all unnecessary peripherals disconnected, try any suggestions you have not yet used from How to test your iSight to ensure it is functional.
    (2) Try testing with some of the computer saavy human testers in Ralph John's list of Contact Testers. I know the page says for iChat 2.1 and 3.x, but you should be able to test with them. Ralph and some of the others also have iChat 4 if testing with that becomes necessary.
    (3) If you are willing, post your chat name in your Biography or some other location in your Public Profile, and I will try to contact you for a test when I am on-line.

  • Passport HD not connecting properly to Laptop

I have a passport portable hard drive, which was working fine. Today I connected it to my laptop, the blue power light came on, but it did not register properly in my computer. I didn't hear the normal prompts I usually do either when USB devices are connected to the laptop. It is drawing power because the power light comes on, but the computer does not seem to be able to read it. What can I do to access the hard drive? I tried reconnecting a few times and even used a different computer, with no success. Any advice or help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have a potential solution, but first need to ask what your level of computer knowledge is, as it's not "hard" but you could mess something up if you do it wrong.
If you like my post, or solution to your issue/question, go ahead and click on the little star by my name and/or accept the post as the Solution. It makes me happy.

  • Isight not connected/ chronic

My son's macbook's built in isight camera just stopped working, and we don't know why this started. The message is that it is not connected, or that it is in use by another application (which it isn't). I have searched on these forums and have found many users having the same problem. The most common solution posted on these forumsseems to be to power the computer off, disconnect battery and ac power, hold power button for 10 seconds, reinstall battery and ac power cord, and power up again.
The good news: This worked! The Isight internal camera functioned, and he wqas able to Ichat with me.
The bad news: The above solution needs to be done EVERY TIME he turns his computer off. When he starts up, every day the isight camera displays the above problem, and the above solution is needed to correct. Every day.
Has abyone else found this to be the case? How can we fix this so he doesn't have to jump through sixteen hoops and look through a kaleidescope every time he wans to ichat or photobooth?

I have reset the pram, updated the software, etc. To repeat these items brought the camera back. Thanks for your responses gents. However the problem was that this needed to be done every time the computer was turned off and restarted.
I think I have found the problem, and the fix, although I am not smart enough to explain why! We noticed that a little icon appeared on our dock, and disappeared immediately, upon every startup. This icon was a some type of "daemon" that was associated with the HP printer/scanner my son hooked up to his mac right before all of these problems started! I searched these forums for that application, and noticed that other people had similar problems with the HP scanner driver somehow occupying a port that I now believe to be somehow associated somehow to the camera. We uninstalled all the hp software, and his camera works fine every start up!
I think part of the camera troubleshooting should include question on whether new software was installed to the macbook, specifically HP software!
    THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS.

  • Skype Not Connecting Properly

Starting today Skype refuses to connect. (it works fine on Windows, and the password wasn't changed). It just shows the connecting icon, and nothing happens.
Connects properly after around 5 minutes.

I guess I am kind of glad someone else is having this problem more recently. I think it is tied to a recent update that Skype did. My in bound number stopped working right 2 weeks ago. They managed to fix some of it, so I do get calls now from Verizon and land lines - most land lines. I cannot get a call from a T-Mobile phone to save my soul.
It rings, and when I go to pick it up - it just disconnects in one second.
The party calling doesn't even hear it ring.
Many of them just give up and hang up.
It does also NOT forward nor offer voice mail
And it is not my settings - almost every other caller works just fine.
And I have the problem on multiple computers, multiple gadgets, android, ios, etc.
Skype support - help us out here.
Remember, we're all in this together, and I'm pulling for you.

  • WRT54G not connecting properly with Netgear switch

I have a WRT54Gv4 which I've been using as both a WAP and a wired switch. I now have too many wired devices to plug into the built-in switch, so I tried to expand the WRT54G using a Netgear FS108 8-port switch. The WRT54G and the FS108 both work perfectly well when not connected to each other, but all hell breaks loose as soon as I plug them together. If I plug the cable into a regular port on the FS108, then the "network activity" light on the corresponding WRT54G port blinks rapidly and continuously. If I plug the cable into the uplink port on the FS108, then the "network activity" light on the FS108 port blinks rapidly and continuously. I get around 50% packet loss trying to communicate between a computer plugged into the WRT54G and another computer plugged into the FS108. I've already tried 3 different cables between the WRT54G and the FS108, and all have exhibited the same problem. I have also tried all kinds of power cycling of the different devices, and nothing I have done has worked.
    So I have two questions:
    1) Has anyone successfully connected a Netgear FS108 to a WRT54G? If so, how did you do it?
    2) Has anyone successfully used a Linksys SD208 or EZXS88W switch with a WRT54G? I'm going to buy one of these to replace the FS108 if nobody can answer the first question.
    Thanks.

If you have McAfee anti-virus, then I guarantee IT IS a McAfee + Vista issue. In the Firewall settings for Vista, enable Peer-to-Peer and add and enable ports TCP 5357, TCP 5358, UDP 3702, TCP 2869, UDP 1900, UDP 137, UDP 138, TCP 139, TCP 445. THEN, disable Vista Firewall and enable McAfee Firewall. Click on Internet & Network Protection and then Configure. This is where the McAfee Firewall protection is enabled. Click on the Advanced tab. Click on Grant Full Access and apply. Click OK, close out and reboot. Your system will utilize the McAfee Firewall and not the Microsoft one, and as long as you have WAP encryption and a private network, your Linksys router will allow printer and file sharing and be protected.

  • Nokia N70 and Pc Suite 6.6 not connecting properly

I am having problems connecting to my phone from windows xp and pc suite.
Whenever i try to "backup" or use "file manager" i get connection errors. Nokia connection manager is showing connected ok. When i click 'file manager' i can see the N70, but as soon as i try to 'explore' it by double clicking i get an error similar to 'Operation could not be completed'. (sorry not at home at the mo, experiencing parity error in my organic memory! ;-p)
    History:
I Previously had Pc suite 5 installed and connected via bluetooth to my Nokia 6600. I believe the problem is the old PC Suite software as I can connect on a works laptop but not from my home pc. I have removed all previous Bluetooth, Nokia software via add-remove programs but still no luck.
I have tried renaming my memory card and even re-formatting and renaming, no luck.
    System Details:
    Windows XP SP1
    PC Suite 6.6 Rev 18
    Nokia N70
    CA-43 usb cable
    v2.0539.1.2 19-10-05 RM-84
Can anyone help? I really don't want to uninstall and re-install windows if i can help it!

sorry, i thought i was replying to a different thread i had allreayd posted my problem in, whihc is...
I had the firmware updated on my N70 today to get rid of the dreaded orange home screen at a nokia dealer, but when I try to connect to my PC it won’t work.
When I first got home and plugged it in via USB windows first told me the USB device was not reqocnised, so I pulled out the cable and put it in as advised. it seemed to be ok then, but just after i went to transfer some music over but it wouldn’t let me (as if my phone was not connected) and PC suit said I didnt have a phone connected, although I could see my phone under 'my computer' but couldn’t transfer any thing over.
So I downloaded PC suite again to make sure I had up to date software and drivers, I already had them it seemed but I unistalled and install them again just in case. But when I come to set up the connection the set up screen simply hangs, although the cable is working as windows makes that noise and it pops up to say N70 found, but then a second later says the install didn’t work, all the time the setup screen still hangs in the background.
I have tried every thing in this thread and others including doing the clean setup from nokia.
    My firmware version: 3.0546.2.3.18-11-05RM-84
    Windows XP SP2
    Please help.
    Thanks

  • ISight Not Working Properly in iMovie HD

Getting a *No Camera Attached* message in *iMovie HD*, and don't know why.
Tried *iMovie HD* under another user account, and it still doesn't work. iSight is recognized in System Profiler, and works in Photo Booth.

If you do not have QuickTime X and do not plan to upgrade to Snow Leopard, QTX is not a solution.
QTX is part of Snow Leopard.
      http://www.apple.com/macosx/
I see that you have changed your posted system info. I thought your system info showed Mac OS X (10.6.4) when I responded. Perhaps I was mistaken.
    iMovie HD is 5.0.2
As explained by the article I linked initially, iMovie HD 5.x will not work with built-in iSight.
Would one of these downloads do the trick for updating?
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/#iMovie%20HD%206
    No.
The 6.0.x updates will only work if you have iMovie HD 6.0 or 6.0.1 installed. iMovie HD 6 is part of Apple iLife '06. You may be able to buy iLife '06 from a local computer store or on-line auction site, but it is no longer listed in the Apple Store.
Three alternatives you can consider follow.
    (1) If you are using a Early '08 MacBook Pro or other iNtel Mac and cannot find iLife '06, you can upgrade to the latest version of iLife and use its iMovie.
      http://www.apple.com/ilife/
In addition to a completely new iMovie, the new iLife offers many other new features that may be of interest to you.
    (2) If you do not want a newer iLife version, you can upgrade your existing QuickTime to QuickTime Pro and use QTPro to record your videos:
      http://www.apple.com/quicktime/extending/
Once you have entered a valid QTPro key, you can record video clips in QuickTime Pro and import the clip into any iMovie version for editing.
    (3) If you have a Firewire-connected, _Mac compatible DV camcorder_ or Firewire webcam, you can record video from it directly into your iMovie 5 (or even the previous iMovie 4.) Your Mac must have iChat installed in order for this to work:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/HD/en/im128.html
(iChat is installed automatically with OS X, so it will be there unless you have removed it or specifically excluded it from installation.)

    Welcome to Discussions, TK-60
If you are still having problems after trying Baby Boomer's good suggestion, try restarting the Mac. If the problems persist, try all relevant suggestions from:
      http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
If your iSight problem still occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
However, if your built-in iSight still does not work after carefully following all the suggestions in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article, and if iSight does not show as a USB hardware device in your Mac's System Profiler utility, yours is most likely a hardware problem. In that case, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

  • Canon EOS 1d MkII will not connect properly

I am running an up to date version (1.1.1) but all that happens is that the camera keeps connenting and disconnecting literally every second. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it? My camera is running on AC power so that is not the problem. Will this software ever work properly??

I shoot with 1Ds Mark II's. The camera USB port is for direct printing (not downloading) and the digital/firewire port is for shooting tethered or downloading.
You should make sure that you have the latest Canon Software, DPP v2.1.1, and EOS Utility.
When you are connected be sure not to turn on the camera's display since that will cut off the connection with a computer temporarily.
I do use the fw cable to shoot tethered to DPP with my cameras. I've never used it to download direct from the camera. Myself and most pro's I know use card readers which tend to be faster. I can confirm that a 1Ds Mark II CF card in a card reader shows up with no problem in Aperture.
Apple has a help document on this that is very accurate:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303189
It recommends a card reader and if you read the last couple of lines it sounds like downloading from the camera is not necessarily supported with all models.

  • Jawbone not connecting properly

Since the last several updates to my iphone, I have not been able to connect with my Jawbone properly.  It used to connect with an incoming call just by turning the device on.  Now, it still answers the call, but I must select the Audio and then the Jawbone to be able to use it.

    Tried this twice.  No results.
    Any other ideas?
Can we revert back to old versions?  Undo the updates.
