  • New Itunes is not working because my imac is 10.6.8 need help ?

New Itunes is not working because my imac is 10.6.8 need help ....

Because you require Lion to run it. You should not have installed it.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase a redemption code at the Online Apple Store: OS X Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. Use the code to redeem a download of Mountain Lion from the App Store. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion

             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • ISight not working with Webex, GoToMeeting or Lync...BUT works with Skype, Facetime, Photobooth (June 2013 MBA)

Brand new MacBook Air (June 2013, 8MB RAM, 500GB SSD)
iSight not working with Cisco Webex, Citrix GoToMeeting or Microsoft Lync (error = webcam not detected); BUT iSight works with Skype, Facetime and Photobooth.
3 hours of phone support with Webex - no luck.
Tried SMC and PRAM reset - no luck.
Tried erasing disk and reinstalling OSX 10.8.4 and apps manually with latest versions - no luck.
Apple phone support says it's not Apple's problem because Apple apps work.
Exchanged at Apple Store for another new MacBook Air, again installed apps manually with latest version (not from time machine) - STILL NO LUCK!!!
Is there an update Apple or Cisco, Citrix and Microsoft need to put out for the new MBAs or do I just have 2 lemons???

    You're welcome.

It will be interesting to see what the vendors say about using a Mac-compatible external webcam.
If not, some netbook or other Windows® device might offer compatibility at a much lower cost than a compatible Apple notebook.
We will watch for your update(s).  What the vendors tell you will be very helpful to others who share this or similar issues with their new MBAs.

  • Final cut will not work on my Imac

I've gone from a 5 year old mac book to a brand new Imac. My final cut express worked on my old mac book but is not working on my Imac. It is saying I need an AGP graphics card, what is this and can I add one to my Imac? Live type and soundtrack are working just not the actual final cut. Please no confusing computer terms as I don't understand half the stuff that is said in this forum! Thanks, Sammy.

I have the same problem. I can't load and save any movie - shortclip. I have tried several ways without succes.
I just bought FCE 4.0 and it's new to me. Nothing works for me. I'm still working in Quicktime.
My camera is Panasonic Lumix TZ7 - AVCHD. I can see my clips in preview but when I put into Sequence a "red hand" shows me "NO DATA". What am I doing wrong? I have also tried different setups i Preference.
(I have the book and DVD from Apple Pro Training Series - FCE 4, but when I follow the instructions it doesn't match what happens on my computer.

ScreenRecycler is a third-party add-on. ScreenRecycler  system requirements show the OS X 10.8 release version is still in beta.  It is possible that you have updated your Mac OS but not yet found a compatible version of ScreenRecycler.
ScreenRecycler is also mentioned in multiple other Apple Discussions problem topics including these:

  • ISight not working on user account

Okay so I did all the troubleshooting techniques and narrowed it down to my iSight not working on my main account.
It works perfectly fine on another account though.
Does anyone know how to fix it on my main account?
I really don't want to have to log into my guest account every time I want to use Photobooth.
I have a Macbook Pro running OS X version 10.5.8

Well done!  You have used the troubleshooting tips to prove that your normal (old) user account is damaged.
Cassie D wrote: ... Does anyone know how to fix it on my main account? ... 10.5.8
Because there are many thousands of files in any OS X system, I have never successfully "repaired" a user account. It is faster, easier, and more reliable to merely change to a new account that works properly.  Here is how I do it.
First, if you do not already have one, make a current backup of your important files.  If you need help, see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553
Next, decide whether you want to use one of the existing test user accounts that you already know works.  Renaming account names can cause serious problems, so if you want a different name for your new everyday user account, it is best to create account with the name you like.  Test the new account, too, to be sure it is working properly before proceeding.
Now, copy needed data from your backup into your new user account that works.  Begin using this new account as your every-day "main" login account. Do not move or delete anything from the old (damaged) account at this time.
If you must add any third-party items to your new account, add only one at a time. Test thoroughly before adding another third-party item. This technique will help you quickly identify any particular item that might have been the cause of a conflict in your old account.
Use your new account long enough so you can be certain that everything you do with your Mac is working properly in the new account. Depending on how you use your Mac, this can take weeks or even months.
When you are certain that all is well with the new account that is now your normal account, you can throw away your damaged (old) original user account folder to reclaim its disk space.

  • I am having real problems with my hotmail account not working on my iMac

I am having real problems with my hotmail account not working on my IMac but works absolutely fine on my Iphone 5. Can anyone help with the setup for iMac. I am with BT for my Broadband. I am cionverned if I route my Hotmail accoutn to GMail will iy stop working on my Ipone.

How are you accessing Hotmail?  Via your web browser?  Are you using Apple Mail?  Outlook?
The answer will be different depending on how you want to access Hotmail.
If you are using an email client (like Apple Mail, Outlook, Entourage, etc.)) then you need to set up a mail account in your email software.
The incoming Hotmail settings are these:
    Incoming server: pop3.live.com
User name: Your full Hotmail email address (aka "me @ hotmail.com" or "me @ live.com")
    Password: Your Hotmail password
    POP port: 995
Use SSL to connect : yes
    The outgoing Hotmail settings are:
    Outgoing server: smtp.live.com
User name: Your full Hotmail email address
    Password: Your Hotmail password
SMTP port: 587 (override the default port if necesssary)
Use SSL to connect : yes

  • 64 bit support on iMac Core 2 Duo under Tiger 10.4.10 ?

    Hi,
everywhere I read that my iMac Core 2 Duo is supposed to support 64bit applications, or it least is "64bit ready". What does this precisely mean for Tiger? I am running 10.4.10.
The concrete problem I have is that Mathematica 6 is supposedly supporting 64bit on Intel, one just needs to rename the Kernel; a 64 bit Kernel is included. See http://support.wolfram.com/mathematica/systems/macintosh/osx/32bitratherthan64bi t.html
However, it does not even run on the command line, where it gives an error:
    iMac.local:MacOS => MathKernel64
tcsh: MathKernel64: Bad CPU type in executable.
    lipo tells me:
    iMac.local:MacOS => lipo -detailed_info MathKernel64
input file MathKernel64 is not a fat file
    Non-fat file: MathKernel64 is architecture: x86_64
On the other hand, the architecture of the other running apps is i386.
I gather that architecture x86_64 is not supported on my iMac?
The makers of Mathematica, on the other hand, clearly say that it should run on my Core 2 Duo iMac under 10.4.10.
So I am confused; do I have to wait for Leopard?

Yes, this thread is older and newer....
Parts of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger are 64-bit, and parts are not.
Per published information, a whole lot more of the Mac OS X environment is going to 64-bit; Tiger had 64-bit at the Unix level, while Leopard is expected to bring rather more to the table.
    Published high-level details:
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/technology/64bit.html
    http://developer.apple.com/leopard/overview/
For low-level details and such related to Leopard, those are under NDA up until they're not under NDA. Mayhap clarification arrives sometime next month?
The x86-64 construct is a name for what Intel once called its EM64T extensions and what it now (in aggregate) refers to as its Intel 64 architecture. Not to be confused with IA-64, which is Itanium, nor with IA-32 which is the 32-bit x86 stuff; x86-32. AMD64 is what AMD has called its extensions, and these are compatible with Intel 64.
Yes, the Intel Core 2 processors and the Intel Xeon 5100 series processors can and do have 64-bit addressing support. But there's a whole lot more to this than the processor itself, as assumptions of the address size tend to permeate an operating system and interfaces and applications; APIs and data structures are notorious for harboring these assumptions. Run-time code can and does tend to make pointer size assumptions here, too.
"64-bit Ready" means that once the software and applications get around to it, the hardware is expected to be ready. It doesn't mean that it'll all work together flawlessly, unfortunately.
Since the makers of Mathematica have provided the bits here and it is the Mathematica bits that are reporting errors, I'd have to assume they're the best ones to look at this. Check with Mathematica.

I have a Apple iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.66 20-Inch (Early 2009) whose screen has gone partially black to be more specific the bottom half of the screen, the screen is split almost in half the top half working fine and the bottom half completely black. Thanks for the response, I just installed Snow leopard (10.6.8) but the issue is when I go to the apple store and tried to download Yosemite, I don't see the option to download it. Looked around everywhere and no luck. What I'm doing wrong? I tried also the software update and I just get to the page where says no updates available and shows Yosemite as a free upgrade but when I click on the button nothing happens.
Any help would be really appreciated.

  • Response time of the new 24-inch iMac Core 2 Duo 3.06GHz display??

Apple is not famous for documenting the response time of it's diplays, An exception is the new Apple LED Cinema Display (24" flat panel) which they list as 14ms.
Does anybody know the response time of the new 24-inch iMac Core 2 Duo 3.06GHz display??

Very nice, I've always wanted a bigger iMac and
wondered why they didn't make one. I'm on a G5
20inch now and it works 100% perfectly. BUt the 24
    incher is very compelling!
Myself, never felt the need for a bigger one, the 20-inch is perfect for what I want it to do. Perhaps in the future...
It's pretty obvious why a 24-inch was not offered sooner, as the retail price would have been too expensive to create enough demand to justify production.
