ISight recording gets choppy 5 min into capture

Hi! after having audio issues recording using Photo Booth, I thought I'd give using iMovie a shot.
I'm happy to see that iMovie reverses the image correctly so you can read anything you hold up!
I recorded 10 minutes of video. It gets really choppy halfway (~5 min) - the audio sounds fine throughout the 10 minutes.
I located the file in the Finder and opening it up in QuickTime produces the same choppiness.
I want to know if it is the specs of my iMac (see below) that is causing a buffer to fill up or something?
Does anyone have any tips on recording smooth video using iMovie 09 using my built-in iSight on my iMac?

Don't have an answer to this.
But, I did want to post that I have a similar problem.
I have several Windows machines...and a MacBook, 10.5.6, maxed-out with 4 gigs of RAM.
So, I thought today I'd play around with Photo Booth for the 1st time and see how a vid with a "green-screen" background effect would come out.
And it came out the lousiest I've ever had for any video I've ever made!
I used the built-in iSight camera and the playback was so choppy and so out of sync video-to-voice that it was worthless. Junk.
Looks like something a $12 machine would produce.
This is crazy. If I'm maxed-out on RAM, what's the issue and why does it look like its 1996 and I'm using dial-up?
This is very disappointing.
Oh, and as a postscript, this mid-2008 machine has version iMovie 7.1.4 - as I look for an upgrade, silly me, I forgot this is a Mac - no free lunch here - and no free upgrade!

My hard drive was wiped out. Plugged in my husband's ipod after fixing everything (so I thought). Lost all his music. I transferred all MY music from MY ipod onto itunes in the attempt to give him something to listen to!! But I cannot transfer any music from the library into his ipod. Followed some discussion suggestions about resetting ipod, going to disc mode. Cannot do either of these things. Now his ipod is acting weird. Frustrated.

Feeling very frustrated. My I-Pod 40 Gb is stuck between the logo and the folder with the exclamation mark. It will not reset or go to the disc mode.
Trying to find some actual help seems difficult. Help.

Is it possible to get images automatically into text captions while simulation recording?

I want that will be like described below (as it works in another software for captioning):

  • Get the min value from a record set

    RDBMS 9.2.0.6
What is the best (fast) way to get the min date
    from a record set.
    For example:
table tab (col1 NUMBER, col2 DATE ) with 47697857 records.
I would like to get the MIN(col2) where col1 = XXXX

I would create an index on col1, col2. If you are only returning the date and possibly col1, then Oracle will not even need to look at the table, all the required data is in the index. Even if you want additional columns from the tble, Oracle should pick the index scan in most cases, unlessyou are looking for a significant fraction of the rows in the table.

  • Bloodwork Results incorrect - How did this record get entered into my HealthVault?

I recently had bloodworm done at LabCorp and viewed my results online in my HealthVault.  Shortly thereafter, another record, dated December 10, 2013, appeared in my HealthVault.  How did this record get into my HealthVault?  The record
was a result of testing done by LifeLine Screening, but, when contacted, they said that they DID NOT put that record in my HealthVault.  They asked if I had given my LifeLine Screening report to any doctors.  I did, in fact, give my record to my
doctor on Feb. 3, 2014.  I then contacted that Doctor's office and they stated that the record from LifeLine Screening had NOT been entered into their system as of yet (Their system is Ochsner)  So, I don't know how the LifeLine Screening test results
got into my HealthVault online.  Also, there is a discrepancy in the LifeLine Screening report that they sent me directly through the mail, and the results that appear in my HealthVault.  My eGFR on the LifeLine Screening report from 12-10-2013 is
"55", whereas, the result in the HealthVault record reflects "eGFR If NonAfricn Am 61"  How do you explain this?

    Hello Rose,
My name is Josh, I'm a member of the HealthVault support team, I work closely with Tomas whom initially responded to your concerns.  I was hoping to find out whether there was anything we could do to assist you in resolving this issue.  Your
concerns are extremely important to us, and we want to ensure this has been resolved.  We're a very responsive team, and I've taken this issue on as a personal concern, but I don't yet have enough information to continue investigating.  If this has
been rectified to your satisfaction or is no longer occurring, we'd really appreciate you letting us know how it was resolved and/or what may have changed.  Just a quick response in this thread would be terrific.
If this is still an issue that you're seeing, following Tomas's instructions about creating a ticket would be very valuable and would help provide us the information we need to move our investigation forward.
We hope to hear from you soon Rose

  • Error 2014 during iSight recording

I have been trying to record video through iSight on my Macbook Pro, but after a while (maybe roughly 20-30 minutes into the recording) the video starts getting choppy and it gives the error # 2014.
    Any ideas?

    Make shorter recordings?
View the window to note how large your file is getting. Device Native files can be huge and you'll have problems when free hard drive space is running low.
You can always join these short captures together or send them to other apps for further editing.
You can also "Pause" your captures by holding down the Option key before clicking on the red button in the recording window.

  • How do I get HVX200 footage into Final Cut 4.5?

This may be a redundant question, and I am currently in the process of waiting for my upgrade to Final Cut Studio to arrive in the mail, but in the meantime, just received a HVX200 camera in the mail yesterday and was wondering if it is possible to get the footage in my computer. I followed the instructions in the operation manual and my G5 did recognize the camera as a separate drive via Firewire on the desktop which is full of .mxf files. Being new to HD video, I just did a basic Firewire hook-up from the camera straight into the computer and hoped that I would be able to capture the footage via Final Cut 4.5 HD. Obviously I was wrong. After doing some research, I've seen several ways of getting the footage into the system, most of which refer to the latest version of Final Cut Studio, but nothing much on how to get it into 4.5 other than some confusing mentions of somehow converting the footage in Quicktime files. If the .mxf files can be converted into Quicktime and then edited in Final Cut 4.5 until my upgrade arrives in the mail, can someone please help me with this? The bad news is as of now I only have Mac OS X version 10.3.7. I do plan on upgrading very soon, but was curious if it is still possible to make the HD footage editable on the system I currently are running - 10.3.7 and FC 4.5. If anybody could help, I would appreciate it very much.
    Mac G5 Dual-Processor with Final Cut HD 4.5   Mac OS X (10.3.7)

Do I have to be running the latest version of Tiger for this to work? I ask because the new Quicktime download method did not work from OS 10.3.9. Maybe I'm still doing something wrong. Either way, I'm completely confused. First of all, what mode does the HVX200 need to be in? MCR/VCR or PC/DUB mode? My main question is how to convert those .mxf files into editable and viewable Quicktime files. Can I select a "convert" option somewhere? Am I overlooking something here completely? The thing that baffles me is the Firewire cable running from the tower to the camera displays the HVX200 files on my desktop under a white-drive icon that reads "no name". I just so badly want to grab them and convert them to editable Quicktime files that my 4.5 Version of Final Cut will import and recognize. Looks like that would be a relatively easy thing to do, but apparently not. Honestly, all that I got out of the link that you attached was apparently just how to upgrade to the latest version of Quicktime which would recognize "XL1" footage, not HVX200 HD footage. The posting didn't appear to be directed towards the HVX200/FCP 4.5 solely.
In your original posting, you mentioned that FCP 4.5 would actually allow HVX200 footage in or at least knew a way to go about getting the footage into a system like mine. My question is, from your personal experience, can you give me a more accurate step-by-step description of what I need to do from hooking up the HVX200 to the G5 tower via Firewire and so on....
It just seems that only upgrading Quicktime doesn't really get me anywhere near where I need to be. As I just try to figure out the common-sense of this all, it sounds like the computer IS recognizing the camera and the P2 card - hence the icon the appears on my desktop full of my video files labeled as .mxf files. So from here, the only thing that I can figure is that the only way to see my clips are to convert those files into another file (such as Quicktime) that FCP 4.5 wouldn't have any trouble reading??? CORRECT???? Seems like this is the only way it's gonna fly on the system I have...until I get the FCS upgrade. That said, I've got a two week wait and I'm impatient to watch my footage on my high quality Apple monitor!!
Sorry to be a bother about this, but any additional help is welcomed!

  • Audio hum in recording on my Mini?

I just recently got the $799 Mac Mini version and when I record audio in Garage Band 3 or other audio apps I get a steady hum on the recording. I am using a powered MXL 990 mic through a mixer and then into the audio in on the Mini. The vocal recording sounds ok, except for this steady hum. I have plugged the Mini into a completely different circuit and it still happens. I have tweaked settings on the mixer, doesn't seem to matter. Any thoughts folks?

I've gone to the manufacturer's site, and the closest thing I can come up with to your part number is:
    UB1002
    http://www.behringer.com/UB1002/index.cfm?lang=ENG
They have online manuals and FAQ listings.
From their FAQ, I found this statement which mirrors most of what has been said, but also mentions where they suggest connecting from in relation to connecting it to a computer.
Read it over, and see if anything useful jumps out:
We recommend using the main outputs of the mixer to send signal to the inputs of the computer or soundcard. You will need to investigate which type of audio connector your soundcard uses, and you will probably need to obtain some adapter cables. You should be using the "line" level inputs on the soundcard. Be careful not to use the soundcard's microphone input, you might get some signal but it will not sound very good !
Depending on the configuration of your mixer, you can use a stereo channel input, a "stereo aux return", or the "tape in" connectors to feed the output of the soundcard back into the desk. As before, you will need to use the correct type of adapter cable. It is essential to check the routing of this input, otherwise you risk creating a feedback loop. You should refer to the instruction manual of the mixer for more details about routing the inputs.
To monitor your recording, your console is equipped with an extra output section, which is labelled "control room / phones". This output section has it's own level control, and it's own routing switches. Certain models are also equipped with a "pfl/solo" function - which opens up more flexible monitoring possibilities. This function is explained in more detail in the instruction manual.
With regard to the main supply of electricity - it is a very good idea to use a multiple connector socket to supply power to all audio devices, including the computer and screen, from one mains receptacle. The majority of domestic supplies will deliver the necessary current. This layout will reduce the likelihood of creating earth loops in the audio system. Computer monitor screens should be kept away from audio devices like active loudspeakers or electric guitars. If you still cannot eliminate mains hum - you should connect a DI box in the audio path between the mixer and the soundcard.
Please note the "Quick Guide" links below. Though they are model-specific, much of the theory will apply to many of our mixer products.
The rest of their FAQ's are at:
    http://behringer-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/behringeren.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php?p_prodlvl1=117
Another thought I had, is that it is possible that your hum is being introduced with your adapter going to the computer.
So, you should make sure that that connection is made with high-quality gold contacts and shielded cables Pro-level cables.
One thing I would try, is to disconnect the mixer from the computer, and plug in head-phones to the mixer. See if there is a hum in the line with the head-phones (there should be a head-phone jack on most mixers).
Also, turn down (or off) any line that you are not actively using.
    Hope this helps you out.

  • ISight recording will not be added to iMovie

I'm having great trouble with iSight recording. When I'm done with the recording, and press "stop", it will not upload the sequence to iMovie. In addition, the picture often freeze or is just black so I have to try many times.
Any clue why this is so?

Not enough information to diagnose "why." However, until you get better suggestions, here are some things you can try in any order that seems reasonable for your system.
    (1) Sometimes merely restarting the Mac gets things going. Also, if too many apps are running, you may have problems with the significant processing demands of capturing and writing video to disk.  It might even be helpful to turn off your airport card to be sure your MBA is not trying to use other apps like checking for Mail or making a Time Machine backup while you are trying to capture video.
Also, be sure you are not trying to simultaneously use more than iSight application.
Restart your MBA and quit any login items that may be running before launching iMovie. Then make a short test video to see if it works properly. If so, make several other short test clips to see if the improved results are repeatable.
    (2) Be sure you have lots (I like 40GB or more) of available disk space. If your disk has too little space, disk writing will place additional demands on your Mac. If necessary, backup important info you can do without and move or delete some of your user data to create more free space. Then restart and test iMovie/iSight again.
    (3) If you are concerned that the problem may be related to your iSight, use Apple's troubleshooting suggestions http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 to see if the problem is the same in other apps or user accounts.

  • Why Do I get Choppy Playback in Premiere Pro CS6

Before upgrading from CS5.5 to CS6 I wiped my computer and started from scratch. When editing 4 angles in CS5.5 I never had any problems with playback... even after adding titles, effects..
In CS6 I have my 4 files set into a multicam sequence but when I play back and start cutting from cam to cam it gets choppy.
    I am running:
    Windows 7 64bit
On a Dell Studio XPS 9100
    Intel Core i7 930 @ 2.80GHz
    12.0 GB Ram
    ATI Radeon HD 5800
I have my memory preferences in PR set to 12 GB Installed, Ram for other aps = 3 Ram fpr PR 9GB, and it set to performance
Any help to speed up and render this proper would be great, Still have to add color correction, titles, logo.

The 1st update came out today. Downloading now. Looks like it should fix my old problems... fingers crossed
What's new in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 6.0.1:
    May 26th, 2012
Features added or changed in this update:
    · Improved performance using OpenCL, especially when used on Mac OSX v10.7.4 or later.
    · Added encoding presets with additional bit-rate settings for XDCAM HD.
    · Added Automatic Peak File Generation preference in the Audio category for turning off automatic peak file generation for imported audio. By default, this preference is enabled and matches the behavior of Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.0).
    · When this preference is disabled, importing audio or opening projects will not cause peak files to be generated. If peak files were already generated, then waveforms will be visible. Files imported before the preference was disabled will continue to generate peak files.
    · Enabled “smart rendering” and added Enable Smart Rendering Codec setting to the Video tab of the MXF OP1a exporters for XDCAM HD and XDCAM EX to enable or disable smart rendering for these formats. This option defaults to the off/disabled state. We’ll have more information about this feature in a post on this blog within a day.
    Bugs fixed in this update:
    · Start timecode was not imported or exported correctly when working with AAF files.
    · Some files from the Canon 5D Mark III camera were imported with the wrong timecode.
    · Playing/viewing waveforms in the Source Monitor caused audio dropouts with some XDCAM HD clips.
    · NTSC MXF OP1a files that were exported with drop-frame timecode had video data that was tagged as non-drop-frame.
    · Switching the Renderer project setting from Mercury Playback Engine Software Only to Mercury Playback Acceleration GPU Acceleration on a computer using OpenCL caused Premiere Pro to crash under some circumstances. Switching between the two settings on a computer using CUDA would in some cases cause problems with video and/or audio playback.
    · Crash when using full-screen, cinema mode on some computer systems.
    · Tape capture was not working correctly with some third-party systems.
    · Crash when capturing from tape using some BlackMagic hardware.
    · An extra, black frame was included at the end of the output when exporting to P2 MXF in some circumstances.
    · First two frames were being played twice on external monitor using Matrox MXO2.
    · Crash when using “hover scrub” with Matrox MXO2.
    · Audio/video synchronization was off by a few frames when playing video on external monitor.
    · The Export Frame button was not exporting the correct frame, instead exporting a frame one or two frames away from the current frame.
    · Some audio files and some MXF files would go offline or have their audio reconformed when the project was re-opened or when Premiere Pro was minimized or lost focus.
    · Crash when modifying an effect property while playback was occurring.
    · Hang/freeze when using a dissolve transition on an adjustment layer.
    · Dropped frames and audio/video synchronization issues when exporting to tape using some third-party hardware.
    · Information about dropped frames on output to tape was not accessible to third-party systems.
    · Some QuickTime files were imported with the wrong field order.
    · When audio was sent through a Mercury Transmit plug-in, any number of channels that was not 2 or 6 was treated as mono.
    · In HDV editing mode, File > Export > Tape could not be used with third-party hardware.
    · The current-time indicator (playhead) was not returning to the current time after using the Play Around command.
    · Last several frames of output when exporting to tape were black.
    · When encoding a 23.976 fps video to H.264, the duration of the video in the output .m4v file was too short, and audio drifted out of synchronization with the video.
    · Transparency (alpha channel) information from a dynamically linked After Effects composition was rendered incorrectly in Premiere Pro.
    · Importing some QuickTime OP1a files caused Premiere Pro to hang.
    · The duration of the audio track sent to SpeedGrade using the Send To SpeedGrade command was the length of the entire Premiere Pro sequence, not the length of the work area.
    · Timecode written to trimmed clips using the Project Manager did not match the source timecode for some QuickTime files.
    · Various other crashes.

    Hi..
    Thanks for the reply..
My original I Phone 5 was running IOS 6.12
My I phone 5S currently runs IOS 8..When I upgraded it, it had IOS 7 on it which made the I Photo app compatible with everything below IOS 8...( which the photo app is not compatible with ) so I just connected the I Phone 5S to my computer and thinking the new phone had IOS 7 on it that these was nothing to worry about..I thought all 900 + pictures in the photo stream would transfer but somewhere in the process, I Tunes decides to just go and install IOS 8 which requires that you run a " Photo Migration App" to transfer photos from IOS 7 & below. The problem was is that I didn't want IOS 8 on my new 5S so I thought I wouldn't have to do that part..
Anyway the phone emerged with IOS 8 on it and the only photos that remained were the ones that were actually on the phone..The 900 + I had in the stream didn't transfer because the Photos that works on IOS 7 and below isn't compatible with IOS 8..I guess you have to use the photo migration app that comes with IOS 8 & I phone 6..But I didn't ask to upgrade to IOS 8...It just did it on it's own!
I still have the I Phone 5 Back up that I did just before giving it back to Verizon but if I try to restore the I Phone 5S running IOS 8 those photos in the stream will not go back on the phone because IOS 8 isn't compatible with the I Photos" that ran on IOS 7 and below..
So I have an I Pad mini that runs IOS 7..should I try and erase it...and put that I Phone 5 backup on it and pray the photos that were in the stream come back on it so I can transfer them back to my computer...then erase the I pad mini again and restore it using it's original backup that I have on the computer and the in the cloud?
I know this sounds confusing but I'm at a loss as to what to do..This is what I found ...http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201386
    but it doesn't help me..
