Isight stating the other viewer is "already in a conference"

Just purchased two isights for christmas. One is on a Powerbook G4 and the other is on a new Imac. Whenever we try to connect, I am getting the response of "that person is already in a conference". Also we cannot IM each other. One mac has a .mac account and the other is AOL. Please help?

Is your problem ONLY with the other Mac, or does it also occur when you try to connect to anybody?
Also, are both Macs sharing the same ISP connection? If so, Check your Broadband Speed. Insufficient bandwidth may be at least part of your problem.
If you have sufficient bandwidth but cannot connect to anyone, I suggest you try to correct the problem on one Mac at a time. Start by Testing your iSight to ensure it is functional.
If your iSight passes these tests, you likely have an iChat AV rather than an iSight problem.
Disconnect one Mac and try testing iChat AV with a few other iChat AV users. If you do not have several buddy names yet, try some of the testers from this Buddy Names for iChat Test (kisight: Want to Test your iSight WIth Another Person?) list. You can get the iChat tester names to add to your buddy list by clicking on the names in that linked page. Once you have added some testers' names to your Buddy List, you can try connecting with them.
You may find this link of interest if you are completely new to Using iSight with iChat AV.
If you think you may not have done your initial setup properly, see Ryan's iChatAV3 Setup Pages for a helpful, detailed tutorial on set-up.
If these things do not get you working, post back the specifics of where you encountered difficulty, how you are connected to the internet, and verify that you are, indeed, using iChat AV to drive your iSight for your video chat.
Once you get one Mac working, you should be able to fairly simply replicate your success on the other Mac.

    I thought it was because of Lion but with snow leopard i have the same problem (On another Mac).

    To check the local network for some of the common configuration problems, launch Terminal.app and issue the following diagnostic command:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
    That'll report some local configuration information and then either no errors detected and no changes required, or it'll point to whatever configuration errors or issues it might detect.  That doesn't catch everything, but it catches the common errors.
    FWIW, 192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.1.0/24 are poor choices for the local network, as VPNs are based on IP routing and IP routing gets tangled when the same subnet is used on both ends of the VPN. 192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.1.0/24 are near ubiquitous in home networks and coffee shops.

  • When I click on a file to view in Finder in the view as columns, Finder stops responding.  If I use Finder in any of the other views, I don't have an issue.

    When I go to finder and view as columns so that the right column will open a preview of the file, I get the endless spinning graphic and when I go to Force Quit, it shows that Finder has stopped responding.  When I use Finder in any other view mode, I don't have that issue.  This just started today.  As far as I know, I haven't done any updates today that would cause the issue.  I've restarted a few times.  I'm running 10.10 on iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011).  I when to updates in the App Store and saw there was an update for 10.10.1 and tried to run it twice now.  It starts to install and says I have 7 minutes left and then at about 3 minutes, it just opens all my windows again and acts normally.  When I go to "About this mac", I'm still showing 10.10 as the OS.  Also, in the App Store, when I click on updates, it shows me 4 updates that I've already installed as ready to install.  Not really sure what's going on nor why all the sudden this is an issue, but I use the preview mode in Finder all the time so I would love a fix for this.  I've tried logging out and logging in as another user and the same issue with Finder happens with other users as well.  I've emptied my trash bin as well. 

    Step one is to log into a newly created admin user account and see if the problem persists.

    All views other than the classic view are unnecessarily complicated, confusing and - to me - irritating. The view of each individual mail can of course be changed which is tiresome. Is there a way to have Thunderbird - who is otherwise a very good mailing software - in classic view for all my e-mails. By way of one general button that allows classic view throughout.

    eer... did you install the conversations add-on by any chance? Thunderbird has not changed the way it views mails ever I don't think, so I am looking for another cause in your case.

    The money will be lost, since there's no way to exchange or return a gift. The giver is not automatically refunded if the recipient does not use the redemption code. It's therefore best to confirm that the intended recipient does not already have the item before giving the gift; I know that's not as much fun, but it's safest.

  • I have followed the directions, but on both the mobile and desktop the 3 line code that it says to enter into the other device is already filled in and I can't enter either device's code on the other. How do I get around this?

    I can't get any further on either device than "Add a Device".
    The code in the 3 little windows is uneditable on on either device. Both the computer and the phone say "Then enter this code:" but neither one will let me enter anything.

    Sounds like it's hardware issue. The iPhone warranty is based in the original country of purchase. Since it was bought in Korea you will need to ship the phone to someone you know in Korea to be taken in and then they will have to ship it back to you. The cost of shipping will be at your expense.

    The various web screens have in common that they have a menu on the left to navigate between different screens. I show you a picture:

    As the menu on the left is used on all screens, I have made a new View menu (MenuPrincView). Then, on screens instead of placing the menu I put a ViewContainerUIElement and I inserted it MenuPrincView. The diagram views (only show two of the many screenshots)

    My question is, I have to do all the 'navigation link' for each outbound each MenuPrincView of each web screen? This seems illogical, since the MenuPrincView behaves the same in all the web screens, and therefore should only make an outbound link for navigation of MenuPrincView once.
    If there is a better way to do what I say.

    If you want to combine different UI elements in a single view, like a Tray element containing both the menu and the views, you can create different ViewContainers in your view, then in the window editor, you can embed the menu view in the left-side viewset and the other views in the right-side viewset.
    Then, you just add the navigation links from the menu to the application views. Here I post an example.

    I already watched and read every tutorial out there regarding this topic and even tried the adobe chat support, but the guy on the other end of the line disconnected me…, probably he didn't understand what i wanted from him because english is not my native language, so a will try to be very, very clear about this one..
    please note, that i am new to muse, this is my first project ever.
    my idea is as following:
    when the customer comes to our companies site, he just sees our logo on a white Background. the logo consists of, say, four elements. when the customer scrolls down, the logo starts to disassamble: first the first part of the logo flies out the left side of the site, then the second part of the logo vanishes down, then the third part of the logo flies to the right, then the fourth part of the logo flies to the top and out of the customers view. given what i have seen, it is possible to do that….
    so…..
    now i have the four parts of my logo imported as png files into muse and assembled them in design view to build our companies logo. I select every one of the four parts and go into the scroll effects tab left beside the layers tab. first i enter the same values for every one of the four parts: initial motion: 0x and 0x again for the left and right motion; key position ( t-handle) : 0px; final motion: 0x and 0x again for the left and right value.
    now i hit "preview".: the logo is "pinned" at the correct position, i can scroll but the logo stays where it is. so far so good….
    now i select all the four elements again and go to the scroll effecs tab. at "final motion", i click the down arrows and enter 1x. I hit Preview…
    when i am scrolling down the WHOLE logo goes down…. so far so good.
    NOW i want the first part of the logo to go down, THEN the second part to go left, THEN the third part to go up, THEN the fourth part to go right.
    so i select ONLY the first part, go to the scroll motion tab, at "final motion" i click the left arrows, then i enter 1x.( the up-down value, i set to 0 again).. i hit Preview…
    the first part of the logo goes left as soon as i start scrolling, the other three parts still go down at the same time…
    NOW i want the second part of the logo to start moving, when the first part has left the scene, not at the same time as the first part.
    SO I SELECT THE SECOND PART AND DRAG ITS T-HANDLE (KEY POSITION) DOWN TO, LETS SAY, 200PX. SO IT STARTS MOVING ONLY AFTER THE CUSTOMER HAS REACHED THAT POINT, RIGHT?
    BUT WHEN I PREVIEW THAT ****, THE LOGO IS NOT TOGETHER ANYMORE, THE SECOND PART IS FLOATING ANYWHERE ELSE BUT WHERE IT SHOULD BE…..WTFF????
    short: when i move the t handle, the initial position of the object changes. thats what i said to the adobe employee, but he said, that thats the expected behavior….
    but if thats so, how can i have my four parts correctly together, so they form my logo, but with different t handles, so that they all start to move at different times??
    Pleeease help me, i am dying of frustration here…..:( that behavior cant be right, right?

    But i really wonder how you did that. did you always switch between design view and preview view, then change the key position for 2px then switch back, to align the four letters? because i imagine that can get really frustrating, if you have a logo consisting of 58 parts instead of 4!:)

    I have been working on a book and have 418 photos already in my book.  All of a sudden I cannot access the book module and clicking on the multiple view, spread view, or single view does not take me back to the book I have been working on.  I can no longer see my book although I still see the collection with 418 photos under collections.  What I do see is a blank template for a new book and I can't find the unfinished book I started with 418 photos.  It is like the new empty template is somehow covering it up.  How do I get back to the book I have been working on?

    Is it possible you mistakenly clicked on a [Clear Layout] button?
    But a great hint is- Always click on the [Create a Saved Book] button, early in your new book design.
    Then you have a permanent link to the book in the Collections panel. (In addition to the standard collection of your selected images)
    Note: a Book Collection shows an icon that looks like a book.
    Every time you come back to edit the book, open the Book Module by clicking on the white arrow that appears on the end of your Book Collection title. (The title as saved)
    Re-opening a book without using the "Saved Book" option can have unpredictable results.
    A "Book" Collection is like a "Smart Collection" because anything you do to the book design, change pages, change images, etc,  is automatically updated in the Saved Book collection.
