ISight turns on, the computer recognizes that it's there but black screen
I hooked up the iSight and had a good picture. I then put it in the mounting device and attached it to my monitor. To do that I had to unplug the firewire. When I turned ichat on again, it noted that the camera was intact and it was also noted in the systems preferences. However, there is no picture on the iChat video section. When I turn the camera off, it recognizes this, but when I turn it back on, the screen is initially white but then becomes black.
Any ideas?
Thanks
G4 Mac OS X (10.4.4)
Hi Hank,
Go to your Home folder/Library/Preferences.
Delete com.apple.ichat.plist as it holds the camera details.
Restart iChat
You will lose Saved Status Messages, Bubble colours, Font choices, Alert Settings amoungst others.

I downloaded OS X Lion for my Mac, and it says that it is Downloading, but it has been about ten min., and I'm starting to wonder if something is wrong. Would I be able to quit and re-instill without messing up my computer or repaying the $30?
It's a 4 GB file. It's going to take an hour or more depending upon the speed of your connection. Patience.

itunes diagnostics only finds that no ipod is connected when it really is. I have tried different cords, unistalled/reinstalled itunes, erased my ipod started over, restarted computer, etc. My ipod is useless now that I cannot sync it wth itunes and there is now no music on it. Its a paper weight now. All of the posts I have read have no solution for this. I would love to go back to itunes 10 because none of this occured until I downloaded that version.
Did you do everything here:

I don't know what the problem is. I installed the new update plug-in for Flash and it's still not working. I don't know what do do next.
No, that's not it. I tried both ways: 64-bit flash plugin, with Firefox in 64-bit mode. Latest 32-bit flash plugin with flash in 32-bit mode. No go.
I see the first frame of the video. Video does not update except in chunks, portions of the screen, every few seconds. Sometimes there is no audio.
Curiously, other video sites, such as vimeo, are fine. Also, some embedded youtube videos on other sites are also fine. But the problem is consistently there on youtube.com. -

I have a shuffle. When I plug it into Itunes, it tells me that it has not been ejected properly, and it will not recognize the Ipod. I have turned off the computer, and tried this with another shuffle with the exact same results. Any ideas?
Do you remeber the exact (or close to it) wording of the error message?

I recently dug out my old 160gb iPod Classic. Every time I connect it to iTunes, the program freezes and/or crashes. My computer recognizes that the iPod is plugged in, (it's accesible under "My Computer") but iTunes doesn't acknowledge it, at all. I've tried every single solution I've seen, and none of them work. I know the Classic is outdated, but my other iPod doesn't have nearly as much room. Can anyone help with this?

Please a simple problem but I don't know how to solve it. After installing 16 gb of ram all is good but when I turn on the computer it is a window signaling that all is correct. How is possible to delete once and for all that window? Thank you
Well then maybe you could take a screenshot because the appearance of such a window is news to me.
Also post your OS X version and what model Mac you have. The more detail, the better. Thanks.
To take a screenshot hold ⌘ Shift 4 to create a selection crosshair. Click and hold while you drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture and then release the mouse or trackpad. You will hear a "camera shutter" sound. This will deposit a screenshot on your Desktop.
If you can't find it on your Desktop look in your Documents or Downloads folder.
When you post your response, click the "camera" icon above the text field:
This will display a dialog box which enables you to choose the screenshot file (remember it's on your Desktop) and click the Insert Image button.
⌘ Shift 4 and then pressing the space bar captures the frontmost window.
⌘ Shift 3 captures the entire screen.
Drag the screenshot to the Trash after you post your reply. -

I get a message that itunes has stopped working. When I check out why it is because of the dep security on my computer. When I try to find the program for itunes for the .exe file i cannot find it to turn off the dep for that file
I found the file but when I added it to the list for the Data Execution Program to ignore , I received a message that the Program.x86/itunes file must have the DEP on in order to run. Anyone else having this problem ?

Hello! I got my computer today and then I wanted to transfer all my pictures from my Iphone to the computer so I could delete the pics on my phone. So I plugged the phone in and started the process. Suddenly it stopped to transfer pictures and was standing still for a long time so I canceled the transferring. Then it asked if I wanted to keep the pictures that were already transferred so I confirmed it twice but the computer didn't react so then I clicked on delete. So I tried to start the process again by plugging the phone in and out one time. I clicked on transfer all but it was saying that they have to finish the first one first that I had canceled. So then I tried with my camera and it still said the same thing. I have tried to close Iphoto but that didn't work either. I can't even turn the computer off because then it says that I have to close Iphoto and I couldn't do that. So everything just stands still right know and I really need to transfer the pictures and I need to turn off the computer. Sorry for the long question but I really need help, hope the question is understandable / Linn

My computer won't charge my ipod or recognize that it's there
My computer won't charge my ipod or recognize that it's there, now my ipod is out of battery, won't turn on, and to put it plainly, won't work. I cannot find my wall charger and the ipod will not reocognize anything as a power source so it won't charge...How do I make my computer recognize my ipod....it's only a couple of months old so the batttery probably isn't completely dead.
do you have any other usb devices? try plugging one in and see if it works, and that the computer recognizes it (digital camera, printer, bluetooth mouse/keyboard, memory stick). The computer should recognize any device. If not, the computer is at fault. First thing I'd do is buy an external charger, one that fits a 110 electrical outlet or something for the car. But thats just me because I cant live without the ipod.
One more thought - do you plug the ipod into the computer via a usb hub?? sometimes hubs starve the device of power which can stop them from being recognized. I had that problem with a camera. Unplugged the hub, plugged the camera directly to the pcs usb port and it worked. -
How to safely turn off the computer while the motion servo is still enabled?
When we use PCI-7344 and set it for serve closed control, I have found a very serious problem
in using the control card in this mode.
As the card is able to control motors only with the computer at power on status, but if we are very
carelessly to shut down the computer and without the notice to turn off motor driver power first
we would always get serious sudden moves of the motors, and might cause damages to the system. The same situation also applies to when control the motors under open/closed loop stepper mode.
How should I do to prevent the above situation?
(note: in my system, we have hook up relays and timers if we could set DIO bits before shut down
the computer. But
still, there are a certain occassions that the operator would still forget to set the DIO bits
and turn off the computer directly)The Inhibit output pin of the motion controller (also called drive enable) is the best way to achieve this. It is basically a signal that most power drives take in as an active low input so that when the powergoes out of the computer, the line goes low and immediately kills the axis so that no servo ouptut command affects the motor.
Best regards,

I'm sure this is a setting fix, but can't find it…. All of my windows for mac programs open when I turn on my computer, such that I have to close each one individually to get to my desk top. How do I adjust so none of them open unless I choose to?
