ISight unavailable or missing

I have a new MBP and have had constant problems with the built in iSight. Regularly iChat or Photobooth report that the iSight was in use. Other times I check my hardware profile and the USB section shows no sign of an iSight even connected. I've tried multiple SMC and pram resets, sometimes it helps for a while and other times it does nothing to fix the problem. I've also tried replacing the QuickTimeUSBVDCDigitizer.component and it temporarily fixed the problem, but it's back again. This time I did an SMC reset and rebooted, check my hardware profile and can see the iSight under the USB section, I boot up iChat and don't see the video options. I go check my hardware profile again and now the iSight it gone. I'm out of ideas and thinking this needs to go back. Any thoughts?

Digital Video, like that from your iSight, needs LOTS of bandwidth for transmitting its large video data stream. Because of the way USB works, all devices that share one of your Mac's USB channels share that channel's bandwidth.
I do not know whether your built-in iSight shares a channel with either or both of your MBP's USB ports, but, if it does, having USB devices like your USB receiver connected while you are trying to use iSight video could cause your problem. Other USB devices including external USB hard drives can cause such problems, too. If disconnecting other USB devices lets your built-in iSight work, the easiest workaround is to disconnect them while you use your iSight.
If you cannot disconnect other USB devices when you need to use your built-in iSight, my first suggestion is that you check with the device vendor to find whether there are known issues or software updates that could help you.
If the vendor has nothing that helps but you must have a conflicting USB device connected while you are using video, consider using a Firewire webcam like iSweet Firewire Webcam or Unibrain FireWire WebCam - Fire-i rather than your USB built-in iSight for those video needs.
However, Firewire is NOT a cure-all. Bandwidth is so critical to DV that even my Firewire external iSight is subject to hardware or software conflicts when I have certain other Firewire devices connected while I try to use my iSight. Therefore, unless you can take your nicely portable MBP with you and test before your buy, disconnecting is likely the most certain solution. (It is also surely the cheaper option! ;-))

There is NO separate app called "iSight."
iSight is the name of the camera. The Sight camera is always controlled by the app that is using it.

Should I invest in the Mac Warranty program?

I'm thinking of purchasing a MacBook and wanted to know if the warranty program is worth the $250 investment? I ccurently use an Acer with Vista and I have a broken mousepad and have been having problems with Windows mail and with space on my data drive. I'm hoping to have better luck with a Mac but I've been reading here about problems folks are having and I'm wondering if a Mac is worth the extra $$. Any thoughts?

the macbook is so poorly designed, with all kind of unexpected problems I never imagined would happen to an apple computer, that yes, it's a must.
I would recommend reconsider the macbook thou, i own the late 2006 blackbook and after 18 months the problems started to show up: cracked case, wake up from sleep every 20 seconds or so draining the battery out, unexpected shuts downs with low battery, bluetooth not available every 5 minutes, isight unavailable from time to time, and that's for me. In the last 2 months it's been an avalange of all the problems I didn't experience for 17 months, being, during that time happy with my notebook. I use this crappy notebook almost never now, just when I have a presentation away from the office, where i have a mac pro sitting in my desk, at least for now, without any problems, but with apple care, something i missed with the notebook.
want a tip? flickr crackbook and have at least a look to what happens with the case. They'll replace it, the first time it's almost funny, but the third,in two months... isn't funny anymore goin back again and again to the store.
apple computers simply works, yep, but for a while, after that, if u don't have apple care say goodbye to ur investment.
I hope someone warned me about this, that's why i'm taking my time, buy a macbook at your own risk, and consider the 250 extra for the apple care part of the price of the computer.

Is this not supported yet?

make a new playlist called radio
Drag the radio linke into it then start front row and
you should see the Radio playlist

Prime email address not downloading on tablet

For the last 7 days I sudently find that I am unable to download any emails from my prime email address on my Ipad but can download emails from a sub-account. Ipad setting show wireless connected. Have tried re-booting. Windows says there is a network connectivity problem and that BT Yahoo is unavailable - device missing! There is no prioblem getting my emails on my PC. Can anyone help with this please?

K7T266pro2-RU raid and XP service pack 2

After installing windows xp sp2 on this board, pci devices disappear from device manager and connections folder.
Specifically an intel 536 pci modem and a SMC(realtek 8139) pci ethernet card.
Dial up connections report the modem as unavailable device missing, and won't work.
The lan works but you can't get to the card thru connections folder, so you can't easily adjust properties.
However system information sees and prints reports on both devices.
NEC usb to pci open host controllers also vanish, but all the 8 of the usb slots still work.
I deleted the partition and re-installed xp, and the devices were all installed ok and appeared in device manager and connections. After sp2 was installed they were gone.
Previously this board and pci devices had worked ok with sp1.
I tried installing the pci modem after sp2 was installed and with difficulty this was done thru add hardware. However still not present in device manager or connections.
Latest bios 3.7 is on the board.
I have a msi-6712 board with sp2 installed and this is ok. I took the modem from the KT7 266 and installed it in this ok. Works fine.

No presence icons are shown in SharePoint 2010 portal

I have had a trouble with Lync 2013 and SharePoint 2010;though I can see the colored presence orbs in both Outlook 2010 (Exchange Serrver 2010 ) and Lync Client 2010 (Lync Server 2013 Enterprise),no orbs are shown in SharePoint Server 2010 portal
All servers are built in one resource domain, but exchange,lync and SPP accounts are authenticated through one account domain. A login account is related to another one (resource domain) with SID.

If the Microsoft Lync 2010 or Lync 2013 client is not running, or if no user is signed in, the presence status is not available in SharePoint. Make sure that the user is signed in to Lync and that presence is working correctly in the Lync client.

XFi Fatality, entertainment center install is

Hi all, sent this to creatives tech support but thought i would post it hear too.
Installed sound card
Ok for a few days
Installed some software for guitar called guitar rig 2
Couldnt get it to work properly, lots of interference/ background noise, played around with settings in the program, no luck so uninstalled it.
Switched to creatives audio creation mode but pc froze.
rebooted and tried several things but no good even when i did a system restore.
Uninstalled all drivers and software for card.
Tried to reinstall drivers and software but it would only ever get to 27% before it just stopped.
Carried out another system restore so I was now back to having everything installed again but not working correctly.
Tried repairing all software with the install disc, same as reinstall, pc just stopped.
Repaired programs individually with some success,
Music creation mode now works.
The only problem left which doesn?t want to repair is the entertainment centre and remote control, I cant uninstall or reinstall, when I try either, the computer just stops responding to either command, the pc has not locked, i can use it as normal, its just the install stops responding.
I have run registry cleaners but this has not had any success.
I hope somone can help because im loosing faith in creative and am wishing i had spent my 50 quid somewhere else.

i have the X-fi elite pro?I had the same issue with the entertainment center. I tried multiple re installs, reg cleaner then install.(SB's uninstaller leaves residue everywhere)still would hang near 27% install and lock up. I did custom install and did not install the entertainment center and that allowed me to get the rest of the product installed. Video's are missing and can not post any video's and can no longer see on Facebook after upgrading mac software. Facebook says content is unavailable. Is this a facebook issue or is there something that I can do to fix on my mac.

Video's are missing from facebook album under photo's. It shows that I have 99 and only shows 24. These are not copyright problems. I have had them up for years. Now, I can not post any video's too. Message says that content is currently unavailable. It seemed to happen after I upgraded to 10.7.5 but it could be coincidental. Of course, I have not got any email from facebook to help with this problem and I am really frustrated that I can not find my video's and post any new ones anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

I would like to add that Comcast is my internet provider. Perhaps that is part of the issue although the Connection Doctor confirms the mail box is connecting to the internet. No other function processes when Connection Doctor program is used to find the source of the issue. I have read forum posts but am unable to find a way to get my Apple mail to be delivered to my computer. It worked fine up until I chose to transfer mail to the Cloud. My mail account is a .mac account.
Still hoping someone out there can help me.

Here's a positive thing: Windows viruses can't run on OS X, but they can be transferred from OS X to other PCs (only if you have them on the OS X volume).

iPhones, iPads and iPods touch can't get viruses but they can transfer them to other PCs. For Windows, I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials

Premiere Pro CS6 Error Message Codec Missing or unavailable?

I know there is already a thread about this... but I couldn't figure out how to add to that thread. I have been googling for like 2 hours and get this figured out! Sorry if this is a silly question, I am very new!
A videographer sent my company a hard drive with video footage he took from our event. I need to split these clips up and import them to Premiere Pro.
Here is all my info:
Premiere Pro 6.0.2 just updated about an hour ago-
Mac OS X 10.7.5
I am trying to import and edit footage a video-ographer gave my company from an event. He sent it to us on an external hard drive. I am not sure what kind of camera he used.
I have downloaded RedCode or whatever. Updated Premiere Pro.
The file type is .mov. It plays fine in Quick Time 10, but only the sound plays in Quick Time Pro 7.
The Codecs for this file are MPEG-2 AND LINEAR PCM, TIMECODE
I also need to split these clips into smaller clips before importing into Premiere Pro, the clips are all between 8-11GB, if you want to help me with that too.

I had the same issue after I re-installed both Mountain Lion and Adobe products. MOV (XDCAM) media was not reading on Premiere Pro CS6. "Codec Missing or Unavailable" kept prompting. Following ComputerNovice25 advice did not do the trick for this problem. But, I was able to fix issue by simply updating my OS. A ProApps Quicktime Codecs 1.0 was included in the update, which added the following video codecs for Quicktime-based applications:
Apple Intermediate Codec
Apple ProRes
AVC-Intra
DVCPRO HD
HDV
XDCAM HD / EX / HD422
MPEG IMX
Uncompressed 4:2:2
This update is highly recommended for all users running any MacOSX and any type of NLE.

Premiere Elements 4 audio won't play on mp4 files, codecs missing/unavailable on .mov files

I dowlnloaded Premiere Elements 4, and when I import mp4 files, the video plays but the audio will not. I've also tried to import .mov files, and an error message pops up that says "Codec missing or unavailable." I downloaded the latest version of Quicktime, but that didn't change anything. The files will play back on the video camera, but I"m having trouble with them on my computer. The audio on the mp4 files plays in Quicktime, but not the video, and vice versa when I import them into Elements. Any suggestions?

Does Quicktime Pro also edit .mov files on a PC?

Premiere Elements 4 pretty much works with tape-based digital video. That would be video from a miniDV or HDV tape-based camcorder. It doesn't handle other formats very well.
If you plan to edit MP4s, you definitely want to upgrade to a more current version of the program. If you can't install a current version of the program, you may need to address issues on your computer (such as an outdated operating system or underpowered hardware configuration).
Short of that, you could buy Quicktime Pro from Apple for $29. It will edit MP4s, even on a PC platform.

Premiere CS5 not importing .mov files - codec missing or unavailable

Hi,
I'm on a Windows 7 PC running Premiere Pro CS5. Have encountered a problem with .mov files that I haven't had before. I recently received three files from a shoot at a local tv station. They are .mov files and I believe they are in an XD CAM wrapper or format. I've gotten files from this station before and have imported them with no trouble (not sure if the earlier files were XD CAM, though). When I try to import, I get the error message: Codec missing or unavailable. Would using the Prism video convertor to convert to another format be the way to go? The file sizes range from 7.18 GB to 14.9 GB. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I am editing my final project at university on Premier Pro CC on mac, but when I try to load my project in Premier Pro CC for windows on my home pc i get "codec missing or unavailable". Something to do with Apples' ProRes 422 LT codec. Is there a way round this problem?

I just went to the Miraizon site, who has been the sole licensee of ProRes for PC, to see if their $150/license download was still at that price.
This is what I found ...
They only sell a few of their other products, and the ProRes/DNxHD codec package only generates an email form to "support".
I'm afraid you'll have to transcode those files to something like DNxHD or an avi codec or something to work them via PC. And I'd thought about purchasing that codec pack from them but kept putting it off. Now, I wish I'd bought it. Ah well.
