Isight with zoom or higher resolution

i've noticed a lot of people inquire about lower priced camera options, i'd like to go in the other direction. is there a higher quality (yes, higher priced) camera for the mac that also has zoom capabilities (not digital zoom)?
thank you,

Hello window view,
In answer to your question, a FW camcorder would give you what you ask; higher price tag(unless you already have one), possibly better picture quality and zoom capability.
I've done both and the slight gain in picture, to me, was not worth the hassle of setting up and taking down the camcorder.
Here is a link that makes a comparison to help you decide:

  • Zoom into high resolution image

    Hi,
Before starting to learn Muse, I've one big need: zooming into high-resolution images.
I want to show how high the resolution is by letting the viewer zoom in with a loupe (or just scrolling with mouse wheel). I'm not talking about of a slideshow through some crops of the main image, but of an shrink- or grow effect of the image.
    Is this possible to achieve?
    Thanks for your insight,
    Dominique

  • Quality problems with low and high resolution

Hi there all you Photoshop lovers =)
    Problem 1
Recently i have experienced a problem in my drawing in Photoshop CS4. When i try to use my brushes, gradiants and feather in the marquee tools I get this result: http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman01/-------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------wtf.jpg
I have tried to find the problem by checking the document settings.
Resolution: 72 pixels/inch (since im working with web graphics)
    RGB 8bit.
I have even tried to put the resolution up to 250 and the bit up to 16/32 and I still get the same result.
I use a PC with Windows 7, 64x. Useing 32 bits colors in windows.
Is this a known issue? Can someone help me?
    Problem 2
A colleague have a new PC computer with Windows XP 64x. The issue we have on that cumputer is that he only has a Adobe design premium cs3 version. What I have read on the box is that the cs3 version only supports x32 bits systems. I have also read that Adobe dous not support Windows XP 64x.
So do my colleague need to buy a Adobe kit cs4 to be able to use his 10 gig ram in the Adobe programs?
    Will CS4 support Windows XP 64x ?
    Thanks for the support!

You can reset your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
(A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.)
Another idea would be to try turning off OpenGL drawing in PS preferences.

  • Video/Sound delay with AppleTV on higher resolutions

I have a new Sony 55" RP SXRD HD TV (1080p max res), and just hooked up my AppleTV today. After syncing it with most of my video library and some of my music library, I tested the video appearance. My initial setting was 1080i, and I experienced major video/sound synchronization delays (similar to older DVD players where you'd hear what the person was saying 5-8 seconds before they said it on screen). This drove me nuts, so I switched down to 720p res, and while the movies played okay, the TV Shows and the Music Videos left much to be desired, and still had the same synchronization problems. To remove these issues, I finally changed the res down to 420p, but now, when I watch pretty much anything (photos, album art, TV Shows, Music Videos, and Movies), the resolution is horrible, and pixelates on my TV.
I'm trying to pinpoint this to find out if it's the TV, the connection (HDMI), or the AppleTV. Can anyone offer some advice on what to look for, what might cause this issue, and how I could fix it? Thanks so much in advance!
    AppleTV   Windows XP
      Windows XP

Sounds to me like it's a problem with upscaler. Does the Apple TV upscale? If it does, then it's the upscaler in the Apple TV and is probably a software problem that can be fixed with a firmware update. But it's weird that if it's a consistent problem with the Apple TV upscaler that these forums aren't just soaked in complaints about it. Could be only a problem with really large, say 46" or greater TVs -- that might explain the low number of complaints.
If the Apple TV doesn't upscale, then it's the upscaler in your HDTV. Prior to about six months ago, when all HDTVs got good upscaler chipsets, some HDTVs, especially the older, larger models, had absolute trash upscaler chipsets -- even the expensive quality brand models got some bad upscalers. All kinds of problems from all input sources, but not always with every device. How old is your HDTV?
For your sake, I hope it's an Apple TV upscaler problem with larger dimensioned HDTVs, as that Apple can fix for free with a firmware update. Next best choice is your terrible upscaler chipset in your HDTV supports firmware upgrades via USB or network cable and there is a firmware update out that fixes your HDTV's upscaler problems. Because the final, worst alternative, if there is no update for your HDTV available, or your model doesn't support firmware updates, it's the really bad option: drop another couple grand or more for a new HDTV of the same large dimensions.

  • N-Series NEEDS a high-resolution touch-screen!

    Dear Nokis,
If you only do one good thing in 2008 please let it be an N-Series S60v3 phone with the following specifications:
    *Larger, higher resolution touch-screen.
    *Alloy casing, not all plastic.
    *5MP camera with Xenon flash.
    *640*480 30fps video recording.
    *Integrated GPS.
Hell, basically all I want is a phone which has all the features of the N82 but with the larger, higher resolution touch-screen. I use my N82 for internet when I am out of the office and even with Opera Mini browsing is a complete pain in the **bleep**. A touchscreen would help with browsing so much it would completely change the way we use the phones, and a higher resolution would make it so much more practical.
If you need to make the phone bigger then so be it, just PLEASE give us a higher res touchscreen!

I do keep my eyes on the news sites and saw that one had been demo'd, its just I fear that the models that will eventually be released wont be as fully featured as I specified in my original post!

  • How to copy objects from Pages (5.5.1) and paste it into Photoshop as a vector smart object with high resolution?

I recently have bought a new Macbook Pro (Version 10.10.1) with the OS X Yosemite. The computer comes with the new Pages (version 5.5.1).
Here is the problem: I like to create artwork using the shapes on Pages. Previously, on my old mac, I used Pages 4.3 to create objects, which I would copy then paste to Photoshop and it would become a vector smart object. However, in the new Pages (version 5.5.1), when I copy objects, they would appear on Photoshop as instead, a layer and it would not be in full resolution.
Also, I know there is nothing wrong with the Pages file itself because I have converted the document to PDF form and it is high resolution when inserted into Photoshop that way.
Does anyone know how I can copy individual objects from Pages (5.5.1) and paste it into Photoshop as a vector smart object with high resolution as I have done before?
    Thanks!

Oh, well if you don't actually need vector objects then it looks like this is possible. As I said earlier, Pages is putting a PNG on the clipboard. I tested it and it does paste into Photoshop as a transparent layer, because I can see the transparent background of the pasted PNG graphic if I either turn off all layers behind it in Photoshop, or if I start a new Photoshop document to paste into but make sure I choose Transparent for the Background Contents in the New Document dialog.

  • Photoshop CC and Audition CC is not compatible with the high resolution and small screen that my computer have.

Hello everyone. Recently I bought the New Razer Blade (2014). It has a high resolution of 3200 x 1800 and a screen size of 14 inch. It is that I downloaded the Photoshop CC that I realize that the words are so small it is actually causing a problem for the users. I searched online for helps and learned that the only way to change this is to wait for the developers of the Photoshop CC to make and update to make it compatible. The source of this idea is from a guy have the same computer and the same problem. He updated his Lightroom and the interface ungraded into one that he can use with ease and he hopes that the Adobe company will update Photoshop CC also and fix the resolution problem too. I thought that after another update, Photoshop CC will have it visual update too. However, the last update from a few days ago didn't solve this problem. I wonder if The Adobe company knows about this problem and that's the main reason I'm starting a discussion on this topic. The same goes to the Audition CC and the Premiere Pro CC. These 3 are the most important tools for my and this computer is the only good one that I can have right now. I have tried lowering my resolution but everything else became difficult to use. If I'm using the Photoshop CC, I of course wouldn't want to use a resolution that is too low to edit my pictures.
This is my problem and I wish someone can do something about the visual updates of Photoshop, Audition, and Premiere Pro so that they are compatible with the New Razer Blade (2014) 14 inch screen. Just like Lightroom.

    Hi,
The video features for Windows 32 bit systems are no longer supported starting with Photoshop CC (14.0).
    Sorry,

  • Satellite P200D: How to get higher resolution with HDMI on external monitor

    Hi,
i have problem with my notebook P200D. I want to use my book with extern LCD in resolution 1680x1050.
In analog connection i have reached this resolution, but the quality of the output is bad.
I see some waves on the screen of LCD. And colors are little bit different.
Notebook has hdmi output too, so I have bought hdmi/dvi cabel, which is working, but i have reached only the resolution of 1200x1020.
Cabel is signgle link, it exists dual link cabel, but i am not sure if this sloves my problem. I have read that the hdmi output in the Toshiba notebooks is only single link.
So i cant reached higher resolution than 1200x1020... Is it true?

Vlada I do not know what you mean with bad picture but if you can use the right resolution the picture must be simply brilliant. I am afraid you can not set the right resolution (1680 x 1050) and because of that you are not happy with analog connection.
About HDMI usage I can just say that I have tried to connect Qosmio G30 to my HD Ready LCD TV. I have just switched to the TV using FN+F5 key combination, checked graphic card settings and set it to the center. The picture was perfect and I didnt change resolution.
It is very interesting theme and I hope someone else will post own experiences.
    Bye and good luck!

What format are they? Tiif? Jpeg? You can compress them with a lot of apps - including Preivew and just about any graphics editor out there. I'm not sure that 45mb would crash iPhoto thogh, are yo sure that's the cause? I know that some folks have mentioned pixel dimensions causing issues, as can color profiles.

  • Is it possible to convert a PDF to a high resolution image with ColdFusion?

I would like to determine how to convert PDFs to high resolution images using ColdFusion.
I'm running ColdFusion 9,0,0,251028 on CentOS 5.5 with Apache 2.2.3.
The <cfpdf action = "thumbnail" ...> is all well and good for creating 72 dpi images of a PDF, but I need to be able to create 300 dpi images of a PDF.
The PDFs in question have a much higher level of detail available than 72 dpi.
The related scale attribute for the action="thumbnail" functionality has an accepted range of 1 to 100, but an example of what I need is something more like a value of 415.
I should mention that I did try to use the jpgdpi attribute, and set it to 300 dpi . . . which produced a JPG that was indeed set to 300 dpi, but still had the same pixel dimensions as the 72 dpi image, so this did not affect the pdf to jpg conversion process in any way to make the image higher resolution.
Alternatively, would another possibility be to use ColdFusion to alter the dimensions of the pdf to be 415% of its original dimensions in memory, and then output a 100% thumbnail of that altered PDF? Is this possible? I can not for the life of me work out how to alter the set dimensions of a PDF via ColdFusion, in order to determine if this would have an affect on the size of the thumbnail produced.
Or more broadly, how would you use ColdFusion to convert a PDF to a (or a series of) high resolution images?
Thanks in advance for any help on this.

    Another idea:
Use a third party tool with CFEXECUTE if there's no other way. As you're on Linux you could easily run ghostscript on the command line to do it. gs lets you specify filetype as the device and also has options for resolution. For Windows there's gs as well (not sure though what it's command line capabilities are there) or tools like this: http://www.softinterface.com/Convert-PDF-To-Image/Convert-PDF-To-Tiff.htm

Your description of the issue is not clear:
What format, bit depth and color was your original file "from the net"?  It sounds like it was a Color Indexed GIF, which would cause what you are describing.
In the Macintosh Finder, select said "net image" and do a Get Info on it (Command+i). When the Info box appears in the Finder, take a screen shot and upload it here by using the little camera icon in the Reply Editor in the forum's web interface.
If the image is a 256-color GIF, remember the rule:  GIGO = garbage in, garbage out.

  • How Do I Relink Footage That's a Higher Resolution Than What I Edited With?

I'm working on a short film in Premiere Pro 6 that was shot on a RED Scarlet. When I began the project, the computer I was working on couldn't handel playing r3d files in Premiere in 1/16th resolution, so I made 1080p exports of all the footage and began editing. Now, I'm on a computer with a much higher performance level,  the project has been finished, but I need the 4K r3d files instead of the 1080p work exports.
Is there a way to change a sequence's setting to a different file type/resolution, allowing me to unlink the 1080ps and relink the r3ds? Or will I have no choice but to do this the old fashion way, taking timecode in-points and out-points and reassembling the entire film in a r3d sequence?
    Please help!

I would make a COPY of the current project, so as not to make changes to original project. In the new version, create a new sequence at the 4k specs, and then copy/paste contents of the 1080p sequence to the 4k sequence. I don't know of an automated way to do this, but manually, you can right-click clips in the bin and "Make Offline", and select again and choose "Link Media" and point to original RED file.
If original RED clips and the 1080p clips are exact same length, then the edits should be intact. I do something similar quite often and works fine with substituting clips (I will edit a wedding ceremony, then decide I want the whole thing DeNoised - I create a clean clip with After Effects, then plug that into existing edit replacing original and it is seamless, all cuts in sync perfectly).
Note that Premiere titles are going to be at 1080 and may appear smaller in 4k project. Open existing title from timeline, and in titler make new item from current, which should make a copy of the title, but at 4k. The use Replace in timeline to substitute 4k version (right click title in timeline and choose Replace from Bin). I just went through this when moving from a 720p sequence to 1080p.
Hopefully these ideas work in your situation
    Thanks
