ISight won't turn off on MacBook Pro retina

So I went to turn on my 13" MacBook Pro Retina and the stupid iSight green light is on.  I've done a SMC reset and a PRAM reset.  I've restarted my computer.  I've shut my computer down completely.  I've shut my computer down completely and let it sit for a few minutes.  I've shut down my computer and let it sit overnight before turning it back on.  This light is really annoying and I don't like that it's running on it's own.  No, I don't have any apps that turn on with my computer that use it either.  I've done all the troubleshooting that I can and I've chatted with Apple support.  It's finals week and I don't have time to go to the Genuis Bar to fix this problem.  Can someone please help me turn off this annoying, dumb green light?

This procedure may show which program is using the camera. It makes no changes, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
sudo lsof -Fc +D /L*/Cor*/*/*/AppleCamera.plugin | sed '2!d' | cut -c2- | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting. You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Confirm. You don't need to post the warning.
If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Log in as one and start over.
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.

  • Fans won't turn off after Macbook Pro is shut down

I am posting on behalf of a friend on mine. He has a 1st Gen Macbook Pro Core Duo and whenever he shuts the machine down and the magsafe is still connected the fans keep running even though the machine is off. If he unplugs the magsafe adapter the fans stop but if he plug it back in they start again.
I have tried resetting the PMU/SMU, NVRAM/PRAM and it is still having the problem. He is running 10.4.11 and I checked to see if he had all the latest firmware updates and he does. I even tried re-installing them but it said your machine doesn't need this update.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have a answer for this? Thanks

  • Is it ok to turn off my macbook pro 2011

I would like to know if its ok to turn off my macbook pro 2011 every time its not in use , and its not connect to a power source .

It's ok to turn off your macbook if you're not using it for a period of time.  Just make sure the battery is not fully discharged when you do so.
I turn my off when i know i won't be using it for the day.
You can however, just close your lid if you plan on using your macbook a few hours later.

    Hi there nina777s,
You may want to try resetting the PRAM and SMC on your Mac as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

  • I can't turn off my Macbook pro since installation Mavericks

I can't turn off my Macbook pro since installation Mavericks.  When I push the start/power button, a black screen appears. asa I touch anything, the desktop reappears.  If I push the start/power button long enough, it shuts down, but I cannot keep doing this forever ? What's happening ?  I made sure alle programs/windows quit before trying to turn off...

    Hi Biouche,
the first three days after installing mavericks, the choice window you talk about didn't appear at all. (only that black screen and a forced "turnoff click" (which didn't feel fine to hear ;-)   But !  AFter the first three days, the choice window did appear again, with the choice to switch off/restart/etc.  so evertything back to normal (except, before the installation of mavericks, the choice window appeared already the same second after pushing the start button.  Now, it's like you said, waiting 2 full seconds.  still feels "scary", but anyway, at least i can turn off the macbook in a normal, safe way again.  So thanks for your reaction , a nice day toU2 ;-)

  • My iPhone 5 won't connect to my macbook pro retina over bluetooth?

My iPhone 5 won't connect to my macbook pro retina over bluetooth?

Ah, sure it actually won't.  I have the same problem, and I contacted Apple Support.  They told me that there is an incompatability between the iphone 5 and MacBook Pro Retina such that Bluetooth pairing is not possible.
The Support Agent actually had the audacity to tell me this was part of the design of the OS on the MacBook Pro, like Windows people saying, "That's not a bug.  It's a feature!!"
Personally, I think this is insane.  While I was trying to tether the iphone to the MacBook Pro retina for an internet connection, there are other reasons related to file transfers for which one would want to pair the iphone 5 with the MacBook Pro retina.
I am hoping this "feature" is fixed in iOS 7, and/or in some dot release of Mac OS 10.8.
By the way, the personal hotspot feature on my Verizon iphone 5 works great either via a wifi or USB connection.  There are occaisions, however, when one would 1) not have a USB cable, and/or 2) have another wifi relationship between the phone and a network that one would not want to have to "forget" in order for it not to connect to that wifi network.  The Macbook will not find the iphone as a wifi hotspot if the iphone is connected to wifi in the first place.  At least mine won't.

  • Power button and voice control buttons won't work on my macbook pro retina

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    Back up all data.
Quit Facetime and  Messages if either is running.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following item from the Library folder to the Trash (either may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in. Try the applications again. If they work now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
    Step 2
If you still have problems, quit again. In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with any of the following strings:
    com.apple.imdsmsrecordstore
    com.apple.imservice
Move them all to the Trash. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash too.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Log out and log back in. Test again.

  • IMovie and iPhoto won't update on Used Macbook Pro Retina

I purchased a used macbook pro retina and did the usually initial setup for the laptop. My issue is that these two stock apps won't update in the app store. I recieve a message asking me to login using the ID that was used to purchase the app. I am assuming this is the ID of the previous owner , which of course I do not have. Any Ideas ???

The MBP needs to be disassociated from the original owners Apple ID. The original owner needs to call Apple Care to request that. Or if you have a sales receipt that proves you legally have purchased the MBP they may do it for you.
Then the MBP needs to be wiped clean and the most recent version of OS X that shipped with the Mac installed using OS X Recovery. You can also reinstall the iLife apps, which you should accept into your Apple ID in the Mac App Store on the Purchaes pane.

  • After install Mavericks I can't turn off my MacBook Pro from the power button.

Dear all, prior to install Mavericks in my MacBook Pro, when I pushed the power button it appeared a dialog box which gave me the option to turn off the copmuter choosing the right option.
After the installation of Mavericks, and obviuosly having the system running, when I push the power button it does just nothing.
Does anyone have the same issue? Have someone solved it?
Thank you very much in advance for your answers, for your attention and for your help.
    Kind regards.

You can turn off this new sleep feature and restore the shutdown/sleep dialog box  to pop up when you press the power button.
In Terminal copy & paste in the following command and then press enter:
defaults write com.apple.loginwindow PowerButtonSleepsSystem -bool no
