ISkin Revo Users: Anyone use 50 free downloads?

I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this yet?
Just curious.

They are kind of limited, not as good of a selection as iTines or that other one. They require a credit card to signup to get those 50 free downloads. They hold that card number in their records so that it can't be used in the future to open another trial account to get free downloads again.

I'm not sure what behaviour you are trying to implement with semaphores.
In Forté, the Mutex type is an implementation of a mutual exclusion
semaphore.
If that's all you need, then using Mutex would be the smartest way to
implement a semaphore.
Is that sufficient or are you looking for some other semaphore flavor?

If you have already created the Apple ID, yes. You can add the card - it will authorize $1.00 (USD) which will be released. At that point, you can then change the payment method to None - Then done.

Anyone using avast free antivirus program and finding it a good one?

Needing an antivirus program for my Macbook and wondered about downloading the Avast free program. Anyone using it and finding it a good program? Wanted to see if it is too good to be true, especially given the 'price'. Thanks for any response.

There are many forms of ‘Malware’ that can affect a computer system, of which ‘a virus’ is but one type, ‘trojans’ another. Using the strict definition of a computer virus, no viruses that can attack OS X have so far been detected 'in the wild', i.e. in anything other than laboratory conditions. The same is not true of other forms of malware, such as Trojans. Whilst it is a fairly safe bet that your Mac will NOT be infected by a virus, it may have other security-related problem, but more likely a technical problem unrelated to any malware threat.

Has anyone used MacX YouTube Downloader?

I found this app "MacX YouTube Downloader" at http://www.macxdvd.com . Supposedly it allows one to download YouTube videos on a Mac for watching offline (without Wifi/Internet). Does anybody have any experience with this software? Is there any "malware" (phishing,...) danger that anyone is aware of? Any other methods for watching YouTube videos without internet connection?

The only way to get songs on an iPhone is by synching the songs from your iTunes library, or purchasing them from the iTunes store on your phone.
You can search yourself for sites that offer free music.

When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
When the MacBook was new you needed to open the Mac App Store, sign into your iTunes/Mac App Store Apple ID, open the Purchases pane and click the Accept buttons. Those apps would then be available for you to download in the future on the Purchases pane.
Since you did not do that before and you have now upgraded the OS, I don't know a solution to your issue. Perhaps if you use Mt Lion Recovery and install Mt Lion again you can follow the directions for also recovering the iLife apps;

Anyone using GoPro Cineform Studio as free substitute for Neoscene?

I've not been reading here for several months, so please excuse me if I repeat a prior thread. I did a search and didn't find one spot-on.
GoPro, makers of that small fixed-focus HD camera for the sports and outdoor photography crowd, has bought up Cineform. Like I say, this is news to me as of this week but not exactly news. GoPro makes a casing that allows use of two Hero HD cameras to capture 3D, in a sense. As you'll have two cameras, you'll get two separate video files and separate audio that is blended in software. From what I gather, GoPro found the casing worked great but then they had no good way to finish out the 3D software side of it. It seems that GoPro decided Cineform was a ripe choice for acquisition.
This might have a really nice benefit to those of us with underpowered CPU's in our rigs and AVCHD cameras. Instead of spending $130 on Cineform Neoscene to transcode the AVCHD files to a CPU-friendly Cineform intermediate codec, it looks like we can use the free Cineform Studio software to do the job.
I've been kicking around on the 'net this week to see if this is actually plausible. Here and there people mention doing it, but not often in connection with PPro CS5.
So - is anyone here on the forum using the free Cineform Studio to transcode their AVCHD files to the Cineform codec, as they might have with Neoscene? Are you getting the same benefits: improved 422 colorspace, lighter CPU load, etc?
I have a Canon T2i DSLR and an AMD Phenom II 955 CPU rig. Any help I can get for this non-Intel processor would be sweet.

Personally I'm not sold on it, cs5.5 handles raw h.264 really well in my opinion and I am the type of person that is against re-encoding a file more then you have to. Not to mention the cinaform file that get's spit out is huge so you have to cut and export a million times and it takes forever. If you have the time have fun with that, presonally I would rather get a more powerful computer before I started recompressing files just to make them work in cs5 or elements just becuase my computer blows. Even with CS3 I would just change the raw h.264 extension to .mov and deal with it so yea. Maybe if they expanded it into an editor that actually had a timeline then I could see people really starting to use it, until then I only use it for some color correction and updating my hero2 since I am forced to have cinaform to get firmware updates?
And I even have the same processor as J.elliot, a quad phenom 955 not over clocked or anything with 8gigs of memory and raw gopro video plays fine in CS5.5. Converting codec from a canon t2i camera might be the only thing it is really useful for although I would imagine getting the right codec for premiere would probably be the right solution instead of re-encoding. I searched and the t2i uses .mov and it's hard for me to imagine premier not accepting .mov files when it now supports h.264? I guess in cs4 you just had to rename the .mov to .mp4 so why do all the extra work with cineform and why does someone get a correct answer for agreeing with you?

Lync client gets user photos by first querying the Address Book Web Query (ABWQ) service on the server, which is exposed through the Distribution List Expansion web service. The client receives
the image file and then copies it to the user's cache to avoid downloading the image each time it needs to be displayed. The attribute values returned from the query are also stored in the cached Address Book Service entry for the user. The Address Book Service
deletes all cached images every 24 hours, which means that it can take up to 24 hours for new user images to be updated in the cache on the server.
To troubleshoot your problem, please follow the steps below:
1. Navigate to
“X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000” folder. (ABS file share)
You should see some photo files in this folder as the following screenshot.
2. Delete all the files in this folder.
3. On test PC, delete local cache files.

5. Go back to the ABS file share, check if there is any Photo file in the folder.

I am trying to use sites on the internet which require Adobe Flash Player, but when I click on the free download, it says that Apple does not support this application, so I cannot use it. This stops me viewing quite a few interesting things. Any ideas?

Flash is not, and probably never will be, supported on the iPad : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ . Plus it would be up to Adobe to make a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices, something which they have never managed to do and which they have now given up on trying to do.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter and Puffin 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store, so your could try checking there for your sites (and there is the built-in YouTube app).

Ok, you should generally only get this when you are converting your ID to an iTS account for the first time.
Sign into iTunes with your Apple ID and you should get this.... IRC once you agree or accept it's now an iTS account and you wont get that again.

After my first questio: can not find the link for free download firefox 6. You answered and I used the link you send. nr 5 was downloaded but it did not work on a minimac it said the version of the mac does not allow it. What to do use the 3.6

You can't use Firefox 4 on Mac OS X 10.4, on on 10.5 you need the Intel chip.

I doubt that Firefox 5 or 6 would be any different, once support is dropped for hardware or operating system it stays dropped, you need to stay with version 3.
