ISkin

Does anyone know if the iSkin Revo for the iPhone will be available at Apple Stores? Thanks!

Not likely,in my opinion. If anything the Apple Store online will provide a link to it down the road. Or you can just order it online from the iskin web store.

  • Using iSkin on Macbook

I recently bought an iSkin for my MacBook keyboard to protect it from dust and other things that can get inside. I was wondering if people who also use the iSkin have experienced any problems with it because of the heat the macbook generates. I am kinda worried about it melting and getting stuck to the keyboard or just it becoming so hot that it gets sticky or really maleable. Thanks.
    MacBook 13.3" White, 1GB RAM, 60GB HD   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Thanks for the responses, I bought my MacBook about 3 days ago, it is a week 25 model. When I am running apps like Safari, Adium, iTunes etc the temp is around 55-60 degrees Celcius. When I have big apps open like Photoshop, Garageband and WoW it is anywhere from 61-75 degrees. To answer your question Willett, nope the iSkin does not move around, it stays right on top of my keys and doesnt move at all. It also doesnt leave any marks on my screen but that is because I have the Marware kit that has the palm rest guard and the keyboard cover so the iSkin never touches the screen when I close it. Thanks again for the speedy responses.

  • Iskin evo3 white on black video ipod?

Im buying this iskin for my brother´s ipod video which is black, but sadly I could only find the transparent white one, will it look ok on the black ipod?
    Macbook!   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

When the Nanos first came out all I could find was a white transparent silicon rubber case for it. It did not look too bad, you could tell that it was black underneath, but the important thing is that it was protected. It should be fine. I am sure he will be happy to get the case. Será bueno y usted es un hermano bueno para comprarle un caso. Yo espero que esto ayude y Feliz Navidad

  • ISkin Revo case for iPhone Unboxing & FI

The following is my un-boxing & first impressions review of the iSkin revo for iPhone. I just got mine in the mail today, pulled out my camera and started shooting. A complete gallery of my unboxing and review pictures is available here:
    http://thatsrich.smugmug.com/gallery/3282911#182155384
    ==============
    1. iSkin ships their items through UPS. Because I live near Niagara Falls, NY, the standard shipping took only 3 days!
    2. They could have used a smaller box for the product.
    3. The revo does look a lot like what's shown online. Smooth colors; soft, yet firm material, and the edges have fine ridges that enhance the iPhone's grip in your hand.
    4. I had to work the iPhone into the skin by inserting the bottom half and then pulling the top half over the phone. Cleaning the iPhone (note: iKlear is the best~!) before fitting is a good idea. It took some work to get it in there, but I feel that this is a good sign of a sturdy, snug case. It basically "hugs" the iPhone very well, with a tiny exception underneath the earpiece. You'll notice it's a tiny bit off, but massaging the case works that out quickly.
    5. Good grip in the hand. I'm even confident that you can do thumb-texting without real risk of dropping the phone.
    6. The holes align perfectly. You see the camera hole is just right.
    7. The iSkin comes with a hard plastic ViSOR. Some will disagree with me on this, but my ViSOR fits in place with a good grip. I was even able to hold the iPhone by the ViSOR and it didn't come off. I would recommend using the ViSOR when in a pocket for a long haul, or on a flight. When not in use, it snaps easily in the back part of the case without adding any extra bulk.
    8. The case adds a little bulk to the phone, but what can you do? It's a case. Bulk is a trade-off for solid protection in the event of a drop. the iSkin delivers that well.
    9. I have the NLU Bodyguardz installed on the phone, so I am not using the privacy screen, and I don't plan to. The screen is clear and there is no effect on the touchscreen system. The Bodyguardz I have cover the entire phone, including the chrome bezel, so if lint and other stuff ever gets into the case, the Bodyguardz will keep it from scratching. Am I OD? Maybe, but again, how much did I pay for this 8GB iPhone? Ahhhh.
    10. The iSkin comes with a dock connector cover, which fits easily into the connector without covering the speaker or mic holes. However, this will probably a piece I might end up misplacing somewhere down the road.
    11. People have complained that the images of the iSkin on their website actually cover up the headphone jack. The jack is covered to protect debris from getting in there, but it conveniently flaps open to reveal the jack itself.
    12. I called my iPhone from my Skype account, and I still felt the vibration of the phone through the case. Good. Both my voice and EDGE coverage were unaffected by the case.
    ==============
Apple suggests in their User's Guide that you look into getting a case for the iPhone. The iSkin Revo was released after the launch date, giving them an advantage to refine a good case. In a world of disappointing rubber iPhone cases, the iSkin can hold its own against scuffs, drops and the elements.

I have had my case for a week and a half now and still love it as much as day one.
I use the visor on my case and though it doesn't fit on tight, it has never come off while in my pocket.
The case attracted lint and dust the first few days but stopped after I washed it with soap and water a few times.
I have also taken the case off the phone twice so far and each time I put it on the phone, it fits just as snug as day one.
Great case, glast I paid the money!
Oh and if you order the nighthawk case, it appears like it's black on the website, but it's actually a very dark brown.

  • Iskin for UK keyboard!? does it exist?

    Hiya
just got a lovely new macbook pro, love it!
but im in the UK, London specifically.. and i have the keyboard with the upside down backwards L return key.. and i was wondering if they do an iskin or similiar silicone keyboard cover for my keyboard? as all i have seen on ebay are the ones for the US keyboard.
if anyone knows of, or seen, let me know please!!
    thanks very much
    Dave

Try Radius Vision, they list a UK version and have always produced decent stuff.

  • ISkin keyboard cover??  Heat problem??  Has it worked for you?

The letters on the keys keep wearing off on my iBook. apple has sent me several replacements, but it doesn't take more than a few weeks and various keys start disappearing!
Several people have recommended the iSkin. While I think Apple should pay for this (or better--fix the keycap lettering problem itself), I have also heard about potential problems with the iSkin. (Some have said that the iBook dissipates heat through the keyboard and the skin prevents that, thus raising the internal temp. Others have said that it leaves marks on the screen.)
I'm interested in learning if anyone's had problems with the iSkin and if it is a viable solution.

I've decided to keep pestering Apple for new keyboards-- ecologically a disaster, I know.
OTOH, the latest keyboard they send me has very different action and even the keycap lettering seems a bit different. Argh! I held off installing for months and months figuring it would be the same old, same old. As a result, I was typing on a keyboard where 1/4 of the letters had been worn off.
Then I remembered my iBook's under AppleCare.

  • Purchasing iSkin eVo2 Click Wheel Caps in the UK...?

    Hello folks,
Resident Furball here with a quick query. Apologies for posting in multiple locations, but I'm seeking an answer from the entire demographic of Pod users for this, given that it's something of an abstract query, and I need to play the numbers game :-))
Does anyone know where you can purchase Click Wheel Caps for the iSkin eVo2 in the UK?
iSkin sell these from their US site (http://www.iskin.com/accessories.html), but unfortunately the shipping to the UK is more expensive than the Click Wheel Caps themselves! Nowadays, iSkins come with Click Wheel Caps included, but I purchased my Skin before they did so.
Has anyone purchased a Click Wheel Cap in the UK, and if so, from whom, and how much did it cost...?
    Many thanks in advance...
    Kind regards,
    Gopha.

    Yeeks, elliptical click-wheel area?!!
If I manage to hunt one of these down in the UK, I will certainly post back and inform folks where. Usually places like Micro Anvika on Tottenham Ct Rd do a good job of getting the latest accessories and stuff in, well before the Regent St Apple Store, so a quick jaunt down there and a natter with one of my friendly sales reps should help elucidate this mysterious import.
I got my iSkin from the US (from the iSkin site), and it cost £20-£25 including shipping. This was just after the release of the Gen4 Pods, and 2-3 months before iSkin eVo2's were in the retail stores. So I suppose, we could expect the pricing to be similar to that of the iSkin store, + importing/shipping costs, but I'm hoping that I don't have to fork out £15 for 3 click wheel caps, that in effect I could get for £7 if someone nice got me some when they were Pondhopping.
    Will keep you posted...!
    Kind regards,
    Gopha.

  • ISkin Fuze - anyone get their hands on it yet?

I see the new iSkin Fuze for iPhone on the iSkin site...has anyone seen one of these in person yet? I love my iSkin Revo but this looks even nicer...a rubberized hard shell case with a soft cushion layer between the case and the phone. It's got a great look to it, as well.
I wrote customer service asking if this will fit both generation one and two iPhone models...I hope it does.
    -SB

I have had the REVO for my iPhone since 2007 when it was introduced. I just got the FUZE TITAN today and it looks great. Very easy to install. The FUZE offers more protection than the REVO because of its polycarbonate case. It is more durable than the flexible rubber case of the REVO design. The FUZE design does not include the rubber flap covering the headphone jack making installation of a headphone jack much easier. I do like the built-in dock connector protection. My REVO connector plug got loose over time and would fall out of the iPhone. The REVO looks great. The upper case with its silver mimics the chrome on the iPhone.

  • Case Question -- iSkin Solo FX Mirrored Screen Protector

I'm considering the iSkin solo FX case for my new iPhone (http://www.iskin.com/solo/). It comes with a mirrored screen protector. I'm assuming the mirrored faceplate is like a two-way mirror, allowing light to emit from behind. Anybody tried this case? Does the mirrored face cut down on the brightness of the iPhone's screen?

The case is real cool ( i have the burnt orange one.) Real sleek, and grips nicely on hard surfaces. 2 BUTS: the mirror face always looks grimy, because it shows every single fingerprint, (especially if you have lotion on your hand or face.) And some dirt accumulates along the side edges. But the look is nice (definitely a two-way mirror effect) and only cuts down on the brightness of the screen about 5%.

  • ISkin Case from 1st gen iPhone Fits 3G iPhone

I have the iSkin Revo for the orginal iPhone. It fits the 3G iPhone alomst like it was made for it. I thought I was going to have to spring for a new case, but this iSkin will work for now.
Of course, I purchased the White 3G iPhone and it's now covered with a red and black case.

Be careful with skins. The sensors on the iPhone 3G are not in the same place as on the original iPhone. On the original, they were just above the earpiece speaker, which is why the area above the earpiece is left open on most skins. On the 3G, the sensors were moved. There are a pair of proximity sensors, one above the other, to the left of the earpiece and a single ambient light sensor to the left of the proximity sensors. I was reusing a Speck skin from my old phone and all the new sensors were covered up, except for a part of the top proximity sensor next to the earpiece.
You can see the pattern of the new sensors here.

  • Which Iskin Belt clip for SwitchEasy CapsuleRebel

    Hello,
I just got an Iphone 3g this past weekend and Im looking at cases. I think I am going to go with the SwitchEasy Capsule Rebel. I read that one of the Iskin Clips fits it nicely. Could someone tell me which one? The one for the Revo or the one for the Solo? I dont want to get the wrong one. Thank you
    Amy

The iSkin revoClip (not the one for the iSkin Solo) fits the SwitchEasy Rebel and Neo. Unfortunately, Switcheasy never made a version of their visionClip for their 3G cases.

  • Review: iSkin Revo a Leader Among Best Cases

After reading the hundreds of posts about cases--good and bad--I think I concur that the one of the best cases so far is the Revo from iSkin.
The difference is: iSkin really put a lot of thought into their product. The combination of rubber along the edges and light, cool neoprene along the back (where the phone heats up) is just smart engineering. The non-glare film causes the crystal clear image to become a bit grainy, but I'm going to try it for a while. The beauty here is that iSkin did not require me to wet down the film to make it stick. They use an advanced 3m material that I can take off and put back on any time I want. And it cleans up easily.
The thing I'm most surprised about is the visor. It's a plastic screen protector that pops into place as part of the overall case design. To use the phone, you just pop it off and stick it on the back in the same way. I thought this would be a pain in the butt, but it's actually not bad at all, and allows me to worry less about where the iPhone is landing in my pocket or in the car. I'm giving this case an A to date. I'm still eager to see what's on the horizon.
As for the other two cases: the film from Bestskinever will never touch my iPhone. I refuse to bring water to the phone no matter how "ok" anyone says it is. The second case was from InCase. Yep, it can scratch the bezel. If you keep it clean, it can still be worth it, but who wants to do all that work? I'm interested to see how the iSkin does when it comes to scratches.
Any other iSkin users? What kind of experience are you having?

I just received mine today. The shipping was incredible - I ordered on Monday (when their CS center was supposedly closed for some holiday) and it with the 3-6 day shipping it was on my doorstep around 11:30 this morning. Putting it on was a breeze and it doesn't seem like it'll stretch like the incase does. I couldn't get the privacy screen on without air bubbles and I didn't like how the screen looked with it on so I took it off. I should note, though, that even with that on top of the Crystal Film that I have the touchscreen still worked fine. The privacy screen isn't as smooth as the Crystal Film or the touchscreen itself, which may bug some poeple. The plastic screen protector doesn't seem to hold too well on my case, so I'm going without it. This is my favorite non-hard-case by far, I just wish it had a belt clip.

  • Iskin revo and holster

a previous thread about the iskin holster caught my attention because i was looking for a case for my iphone. decided to buy the iskin and the holster.
i have a question tho. would i need to use the "Power Support Crystal Film" that is sold at the apple store to protect the screen for everyday "touching" use or does the iskin come with something similar to it already?

The iSkin Revo comes with a privacy screen protector that blurrs the image when viewed at an angle. I tried it and kind of liked it because it didn't hinder the touch aspect BUT it's a little thicker than the power support crystal film. I ended up taking the privacy screen protector back off and just kept the power support crystal film on. The Revo also comes with the hard plastic screen protector which I didn't care for so I just don't use it.
    Hope this helps.

  • ISkin Revo for Touch?

    Hey
I really like the iSkin Revo but I can only find it for the iPhone... Does anyone know if it is on the market for the Touch or if it is going to be?

Guyz -- just now bought this case from apple regent store....all went fine till i tried to fit in with my dock connector ... iphone doesn't fit into dock connector with iskin fitted ...shame on its design....
is it something i have to live with i mean, everytime i wanna' use dock connector strip iphone , sync, and fit iskin back.... ?
i didnt expect this from iSkin.... i dont think i have an option of returning as i have opened the protective film !...
    any suggestions pls....
    cheers

I have the same case with the same "problem". I dont mind. It's a great case and easy to remove and replace at will, even the privacy film is washable since there is no adhesive of any kind. I use the ac adapter to charge, was even told by tech support that wall charging is better for your battery. So relax and enjoy.
