Isn't recognizing songs already in library

Hi everyone. I turned on match last night, and let it do its thing. This morning, I come back to my computer, and see that a few albums have the cloud icon next to them. I open them up and see that all songs in the album are listed twice, and one of each sond has the download from cloud icon with it.
I already have these songs locally on the comptuer, so why is match giving me the option to download the same song, and listing them twice within the album?

I have a similar query, in that i recently reinstall itunes etc. I used a fresh library file, nothing other than loading itunes and letting it do its thing.
I have been looking through my library (icloud reactivated when i opened itunes) and itunes seems to have ignored alot of my songs/albums that are in my itunes library folder. The path is correct etc but even though, for example, my Black Album from Metallica is in the folder, all present and correct, itunes isn't linking to the local copy but has an icloud icon next to the songs. Getting info on the tracks just says it's in icloud not on my computer.
Any ideas whats happened? I am currently redownloading the icloud stored songs (300 or so) even though i know i have a local copy. I didn't want to re-add my music folders in case i duplicated my whole music library.

ps as for the intial post, that happened to me ages ago when i had a problem with the xml file and itunes/match forgot what songs it had already synced. Fixed it by completely reinstalling itunes and using fresh library files.

How do I Transfer songs from my iTunes library, without losing all the songs already on my iPhone?

I have an apple iPhone 3G, and got some songs from youtube to mp3 into my iTunes library. I don't want to lose all the songs already on my playlist even though I want to sync the songs to my iPhone. Also, it won't let me drag the songs to the little iPhone icon.
Basically, tell me step-by-step what I have to do.

You will need that library copied from the old computer. If not, then you can take a look at this in getting 3rd party software to recover your library from the iPod. Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

If you are using automatic syncing with your old iPod, select that iPod in iTunes and go to its Music tab (next to Summary). Note how this Music tab is set up. Maybe you can do a screen shot.
Now, select the new iPod in iTunes. Go to its Music tab, like you did for the old iPod. Set up the new iPod's Music tab exactly like the old iPod, and Apply the change.
The music on your new iPod should now match the old iPod.

Before to attach your ipod.... try to find the file where you put your music.... click on that song.... itunes will ask you if you want to locate it.... from there you have to find the song(s) that is one of the folders in your PC.

Just bought my Ipod 3 hours ago when I plugged it in, it was charging and then synchorinzing when stop they was a bunch of songs I never download never used. Just downloaded the program today never had anything in the library. Where did these songs come from. Did I get a used Ipod

As I said in your other post, it certainly could be. Maybe it's a customer return. Where did you purchase it? Was it a sealed box?
If it were me, I would certainly be contacting the seller to ask why this seemingly brand new iPod had songs already loaded on it.

Bust3d,
The gifting options on a mobile device are limited. However, if you long into your iTunes account on a Mac or PC, you can gift a song you have already purchased. Click the triangle and choose "Gift This Song." See pic below.

Why IT isn't recognizing some songs as part of an album

So I have a bunch of tracks that IT isn't recognizing as part of the same album. I checked, and all the titles match between the tracks, as well as the album artist. I even changed the year of release to match. So I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

i found that sometimes it helps to +get info+ on the album, check mark the data, and have iTunes kinda re-confirm it for the whole album
if that doesn't help, i'm out of ideas. hopefully TT2 will pop by the thread and advise ...

New ipod, ISN'T RECOGNIZED BY ITUNES

I ordered a new video ipod (my old one is a generation three). When I plug it into the computer, it's recognized by my computer, but not by iTunes. I also got a new laptop, and I want to transfer the songs I have on my iTunes onto that computer using my new ipod. I tried manually copy-pasting the songs from iTunes into the ipod, but when I turned on my ipod afterwards, it didn't show the songs in the traditional menu setting. Can I still use the songs, just doing some kind of manual transfer onto my new MacBook, or is there some other way for me to do this that I'm missing?
Also, when I ask iTunes to do random shuffle, it isn't random at all (aka: five songs in a row from the same album, followed by three songs from another album all in a row, etc). I have it set to smart shuffle being least likely, and refresh does absolutely nothing. Plus, today my internet on my (not-wireless friendly) desktop is down, so no iTunes updates in sight.

To move your music to your new Computer is easy. Since you have a MacBook, you will need one that will work with PC and Mac, I do believe. I know a PC formatted iPod will be read on a Mac, just not vice versa. Go to VersionTracker.com and type in iPod. You will see countless programs that will let your rip your iPod onto your iTunes.
Make sure you have all the songs in your library checked when playing iTunes in shuffle mode.

i have had my ipod mini for eleven months and this is the first problem i have had with it.
i went on a vacation to flordia, and while i was there my ipod crashed. i had dropped it once a few days before the crash, but it continued to play my music after i dropped it.
when i go to turn it on the apple logo appears, then the depressed ipod.
my ipod isn't recognized by any computer or tunes. when i plug it into my computer, the 'do not disconnect' screen doesn't even appear. all that happens is the apple logo screen, then the depressed ipod screen, then a recharging screen appears that is stuck on the lowest point possible.
i have already tried the "five R's" and everything else in the support pages, and so far they have helped me none. all they do is bring you around in huge circles, and you end up on the page you started on.
i run a windows xp, and have everything fully upgraded.
i know, i know, many of you are having similar problems, but could you please only post if you have an answer, thanks.

I know!!! It worked just fine one day, computer recognized it and i could add or remove songs at me leisure, but now I can't even charge it on a computer becasue it doesn't exsist to it. I also tried the five steps, but you can't restore the settings on it if the computer can't find it. Finally I had my sister bending the charge piece in the ipod just for it to show up, I restored it and it didn't make a bit of difference! I lost all 800 songs on it but I still can't charge it or add songs. If you find anything out, let me know!!!
