ISO Boot Camp Windows 8.1 Install

Hi,
I just purchased Windows 8.1 from the Microsoft Store as a digiital download. It came as an .exe, so using a friend's PC I installed the Media Creator program from Microsoft in order the generate the files needed to boot install from a flash. The flash drive I formatted in MS-Dos FAT 32 with all the files necessary. I opened Boot Camp Assistant to partition my drive for the Windows 8.1 install.
I booted my Mac from the flash drive, and the windows 8 set up program does work. I am able to punch in my serial number/product key, but after this it is unable to find an image to install.
I looked up that creating an ISO from the files on the flash drive was the next thing to do. So I did that using disk utility, then told boot camp where the ISO was and to generate an install disk using another external drive I have. Each time it will format the new drive, and--although I have unmounted the ISO that is in My Documents using disk utility, as soon as Boot Camp attempts to copy the install files over, disk utility will mount the ISO again causing the process to not work (bringing up the error message "your bootable USB drive could not be created."
I'm really stuck. Any help would be amazing. I'm running a new iMac late 2013 on Mavericks, but I will be upgrading to Yosemite very soon. I hope upgrading the OS and boot camp will fix this, but who knows.

For Macs with built-in Optical drives, you will need to burn the ISO to Optical media and use the Optical drive.

Boot Camp - Windows won't install

I'm running OS X 10.10.2 on my iMac 7.1 (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM). On completion of Boot Camp partition Windows 7 DVD won't install - I get a black screen prompting me to select boot mode. However, keyboard and mouse are disconnected at this stage leaving me powerless to do anything. There's nothing wrong with the Windows 7 DVD, I might add - installs perfectly when running Parallels Desktop 10/Parallels virtual machine. Can anyone tell me, how to resolve this annoying issue?

Although my install DVD does indeed bear the "OEM" mark, I don't think the "OEM" is the root of the problem, as the DVD installed perfectly on my iMac by means of Parallels Desktop 10. Furthermore, I made a perfect and smooth installation of Windows Vista (OEM DVD) on my iMac some years ago by means of Boot Camp (running Snow Leopard at that time).
Hence, I'm inclined to suspect this to be an OS X issue rather than anything else.

You can't just compare your windows 7 oem to your old windows vista oem. There are many - probably hundreds - of oem versions out there. You probably have a limited notion of what "oem" stands for. An OEM version of Windows is a special version for a specific computer or models of computers and none of them are for Apple. Dell or HP might sell OEM versions of windows, tailor made to work with their models of computer. Which means they preinstall drivers specific for, say, a Dell Studio laptop. Often they will also force a partitioning scheme on a computer's harddrive as well. If it worked in Parallels, you were lucky.
If you want to try Boot Camp again, use Boot Camp-assistant to delete your Boot Camp partition and start over.

I installed a SSD and want to put Windows XP back on the computer.
I had Windows XP running under Boot Camp on my old HDD.
During the Windows XP install when it tells you to
press ENTER to install Windows XP
press R to repair a Windows install
press F3 to exit
I can't get the install to accept any input from the keyboard.
I tried searching the discussions but I'm not finding the answer.
I'm sure it is just something simple I'm not doing. I had Windows XP
running on this MacBook Pro before.

I wonder if your XP works with SSD or some SSDs have had trouble with Windows on Macs...
I'd search out PC forums + brand SSD for starters users with XP.
Everyone I run across though have moved on to Windows 7 64-bit.

Boot Camp / Windows Partion... Can it be installed on a separate hard drive

I am just beginning to explore the idea of installing Boot Camp & Windows on a new Intel Mac I will be buying. I've been reading a lot of references to the Windows partition...
Can I dedicate a separate hard drive to Windows rather than partition my primary hard drive? If so would it be best to use an internal drive rather than a Firewire or USB drive. What would a reasonable minimum drive size be?

Hi Mike,
since only the Mac Pro can have more than one internal HD, I assume you are talking about getting one of them
With more than one internal HDs you can put Windows on the second, third, fourth internal HD with the BootCamp Assistant.
On a side note: Windows does not support to be booted from external HDs (neither FireWire nor USB).
Reasonable size depends on what you want to do with it.
Windows XP itself takes up to 3.5GB of HD space after installation, Vista takes up to 10GB.
Add to that the HD space you need for the programs and data you use/produce.
And when keeping in mind the hassle it takes to enlarge the Windows partition if needed, my personal suggestions are:
Windows XP at least 30GB, Vista at least 50GB.

I was using windows vista in Boot Camp, but now I installed windows 7. My problem is I can't install the drivers of the Graphic card Nvidia Geforce GT120 using the CD drivers. However, I tried to download directly from the webpage Nvidia.com/drivers but at the moment to running the installation assistants, it doensn't detec any graphic hardware.

I can solve my problem! I used a programme called 3dchip that helps to the computer to recognize and install drivers!

Boot Camp drivers won't install on Windows 7

I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro (10.10.2 Yosemite), and just installed Windows 7 (64-bit) via Boot Camp. It works fine but I am unable to install any of the drivers (version 5.1.5621). I put them on a flash drive but when I open Drivers/Apple/BootCamp, it says the program can not be run, check your bit version for compatibility (something like that)... I then try the troubleshoot way but this is what happens-

Please verify that you have the correct drivers using System requirements to install Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp - Apple Support and install or repair using setup.exe in the BC folder.

If you are only going to use one or two window only programs then I wouldn't waste the space. Try WinonX it allows you to install exe. Files on Mac without installing windows.

I have searched the entire articles on how to upgrade boot camp 4 to boot camp 5 but have found no answer as to my question: Do you have to uninstall boot camp 4 drivers before you install boot camp 5? I am not sure if it is ok to install boot camp 5 directly without uninstalling boot camp 4 because there might be driver version conflict. So I have not installed boot camp 5. You don't have to uninstall Boot Camp 4 drivers before installing Boot Camp 5 drivers. Boot Camp 5 drivers will simply overwrite Boot Camp 4 drivers, so you don't have to uninstall old drivers before installing new ones and making that process easier

That's because the Boot Camp volume was created, but your Mac hasn't been set up to start automatically from the Windows disc. Insert the Windows DVD and press C key while your Mac is starting to start Windows installation.
If you want to make sure that everything is correct, open Boot Camp Assistant and choose the option to remove Windows 7. Then, open that application again, select the option to install Windows 7 and you will be able to install Windows as usual

Boot Camp Windows 7 fails to restart/shut down properly

Hey everyone,
I'm having a huge issue right now with Boot Camp. I don't know what the root of my problem is or what is influencing it, but I'm at the end of my patience because I've already removed AND repartitioned my 15'' MacBook Pro Retina's hard drive more than 3 times using the Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows 7 Professional.
So this is my scenario in a nutshell...after partitioning my drive and installing Windows 7 Professional using Boot Camp, I boot into Windows and am installing all the software and updates that I want so that I can have a clean Windows image than I can work and restore from (using Winclone 3) in the event I have to migrate or reinstall my entire Mac OS X operating system. Hopefully what I'm trying to do sounds very simple.
My problem...after a certain point of installing a ridiculous amount of Windows updates (or a certain 3rd party software maybe), when I select to restart or shut down WIndows, it will go to the pre-shut down/restart screen (you know, the Windows login screen), do all its prelimary stuff, show the "Shutting Down" status and then IT WILL NOT SHUT DOWN! It will just stay on that screen forever! I verified this because I left it on overnight and when I awoke the next morning, it was STILL there!
Does anyone have any ideas?! I'm going crazy because I reinstalled Windows like 3 friggin' times and it takes a LONG time (as you know) to get and update everything. Sorry if I said any mean words, but I am very frustrated and out of patience for this.

P.S. After creating a Boot Camp partition and installing Windows, should I be seeing the Windows partition as a startup disk candidate on the Startup Disk list under System Preferences on OS X?

Boot Camp Windows 7 No Longer Connects to Internet

Hello, I have a mid 2011 iMac with Boot Camp Windows 7 installation. It has run flawlessly for more than a year. Recently however, I have been untable to connect to internet when running Windows. The connection works fine as a Mac. While in Windows, I can momentarily (about 10 seconds) connect by disconnecting and reconnecting the LAN cable. Then the "no internet." I have all the latest Boot Camp support software installed. All MAC and Windows software updates are installed. My network devices are configured correctly. I have rolled back to previous Windows updates with no resolution. Does anyone have any suggestions?

your router, your Windows firewall, you are using something other than Windows Defender (8) or Essentials (7), something else on the cable.
you had a storm and the modem is on life support and your ISP can login and see what errors the modem is showing, you don't have network surge protection (APC tend to interfere, Cyberpower tend to work).
What else is on the LAN?
I found Windows to be funny about network but 8 and 8.1 have never had trouble. With 7 I sometimes had to reboot.
Besides Apple and Windows, some drivers are or often still needed - manually.

Waited a month and tried again with the same result. What gives? Does Apple no longer support Bootcamp with Windows 7? Do they not read these posts and help out customers? If Apple doesn't care and won't help, can anyone else suggest something? My large company does not like Apple and barely supports those of us who buck the trend and buy Macs. If I have to buy a PC to support their software to work from home this only gives them more "ammunition" to decline to support Macs. Any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!

I'm wondering if anyone can help me with my Mac mini (Late 2014) and Boot Camp (Windows 7). The problem I'm having is that there's no audio when I boot into Windows 7, though everything works fine under OS X. After installing Boot Camp and Windows, the audio worked perfectly up until yesterday, and now there's nothing. I've tried updating as well as uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, but this hasn't helped at all.
When I open Volume Mixer and Playback Devices, the sliders show that audio is playing, but I hear nothing - either from the built-in speaker or when I headphones.
The Device Status indicates that "This device is working properly" and that the drivers are up to date. Tthe following drivers are installed:
dmk.sys
HdAudio.sys
ksthunk.sys
portcls.sys
SysFxUI.dll
WMALFXGFXDSP.dll
Has anyone else encountered this issue, or does anyone have any tips on how I might fix this?

Is the volume Muted? The Mac has an Audio database of devices and volumes in NVRAM, so an SMC Reset or PRAM reset might help. Please see this link for appropriate keys Startup key combinations for Intel-based Macs - Apple Support.

I think the answer is NO. Or Maybe. Or, can't answer based on lack of details. And, more a question for Parallels Support forums.
All depends on your setup. But you will lose ability to dual boot or use VM most likely.
In any event, we are not mind readers. And have some backups already.
Before you do? do this: buy WinClone 3 and make a backup image of Windows hard partition "aka" Boot Camp.
