ISO image for windows

I wonder if anyone can help.
I have a game that is for windows that i want to run on my Macbook air through bootcamp. however as i dont have a CD/DVD drive on the Air i cant as it always has to be inserted to play. I am trying to create an ISO that can be used on window using Disk Utility but it says its corrupt on Windows.
Any experts here know how i do this ?
iv tried youtube and google but no luck yet
Thanks

Copy the contents of the games install CD/DVD to your Windows partition and install the game from that location. then when you start  the game it will look at the Install Location to find the files it need to run and they will be on your Windows partition and not on a CD or DVD disc.
Since you don't have a DVD drive you would need another computer to copy the contents of that CD/DVD to a USB thumb drive then copy that your your Windows partition. It would be best to place those files in a folder in the ROOT of the C drive.

  • How to get ISO image of Windows 7

The instructions for installing Boot Camp and Windows says:
To install Windows 7 with a USB flash drive, you need the following:
An ISO image of Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate downloaded from Microsoft.
    Where do I get that?
A search turned up numerous baffling options, 64-bit this, 32-bit that. How do I know what I need to get started?

You get it from Microsoft's site http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/shop/windows-7. You did not say what computer you have but I assume you have a 64 bit computer and OS. Get Windows 64 bit.

  • ISO image for Sun Fire v60x diagnostics CD

The only thread I can find on this diagnostic CD is from 2006:
Re: ISO image for Sun Fire v65x diagnostics CD...
The link posted in the forum:
    "Sun Fire(tm) V60x, V65x Diagnostic CD 4.0
This distribution offers the Diagnostic CD image (Sun Fire(tm) V60x, V65x Diagnostic CD Release 4.0) supporting Sun Fire V60z and V65z products.

Does not work due to the shift from Sun to Oracle.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for the file? I've been searching for months.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
it should be possible to locate these files via the migrated (Sun) System Handbook.
This is a blog entry about the new location of the System Handbook (review the 3rd comment)
    http://blogs.sun.com/patch/entry/goodbye_sunsolve_helloooo_mos
Maybe the user Nik (http://forums.oracle.com/forums/profile.jspa?userID=826741) can help to locate the download. He is very active on these forums and an Oracle employee.
I don't have a MOS account, otherwise I would have been able to confirm if this download is still available. I guess due to the fact that Oracle contracts are more "fine grained", it's possible that downloads only for the systems covered by your service contract are visible.

  • Where are the official microsoft ISO's for windows 10 preview?

    Hi All,
Where are the official Microsoft ISO's for Windows 10,  10051 and 10056 preview?   They are all over the web, but I don't trust them unless they comes from Microsoft itself.
    Many thanks,
    -T

    To ToddAndMargo,
RE : Is there a way to manually go to Windows Updates and manually download a particular file
No. All updates will be downloaded and installed automatically. You don't get to choose which to install and which to decline.
RE : And I can't find 10049's ISO either (from Microsoft).
As of now, the only most current ISO available is for build 10041. Build 10049 ISO is not yet available.
When build 10049 is released from Slow ring, usually it is also the time its ISO will be released.
    RE: ESD file. How?
One cannot download an esd file of build 10049 from Windows Update.
You download and install the entire build 10049 via Windows Update. When it is done, you can then find its Installed.esd file from RecoveryImage folder and use it to manually create an ISO fie. You will need a specific program to create an ISO from Esd.
You might ask " why do I need an ISO fie if the operating system is already installed ?"
Some users are advocates of "clean install". They prefer clean install over upgrade install. Clean install can be done by burning the ISO file into a bootable DVD or an USB with at least 4 GB capacity and use it to install.
You can also use the same media and install in another compatible computer.
It can also serve as an emergency backup incase you need to reinstall.

  • Windows 7 .iso image for bootcamp?

I have a mid-2012 13in macbook pro (non-retina). I need to install Windows 7 Home Premium on my computer using bootcamp. In Apple's "Boot Camp Installation and Setup Guide" it says there is an option to install Windows 7 with a .iso image instead of a dvd. I did this to get Ubuntu as well. But I would like to get the .iso image directly from Microsoft, like the apple guide says to. I don't see it anywhere on microsoft's website. Can anyone help?

an iso image is a carbon copy of an optical install disc
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_image
you can make any install optical disc into an iso file using tons of tons of free programs available for both windows, osx and linux
    https://www.google.dk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&es_th=1&ie=UTF- 8#q=make%20optical%20disc%20into%20iso
an iso you make from an official ms install disc would hold the same data as an iso file make by ms from one of their install disc

  • How to convert Windows 8.1 .exe file to ISO image for installation via Boot Camp?

I have a late 2013 retina display MacBook Pro and want to use Boot Camp to run one piece of software that is run exclusively on Windows operating systems.  I have a Windows 8.1 download from MS that is an .exe file, and I need to convert it (I believe) to an ISO image on a flash drive.  How do I convert the .exe file to an ISO image?

If you want to use Mac OS X at the same time as Windows, run one of these:
    VMWare Fusion
    Parallels
    Virtual Box (Open Source)
If you are willing to alternate Boot Windows -OR- Mac OS X, all you need is Bootcamp Assistant (and your Windows installer, of course.)
    >>NB In any case, do not allow Windows to directly modify the Partition Map or change the size of any Partition. That will wipe out the Partition Map, and Mac OS X. Windows is not a pleasant guest.

  • Error trying to mount the DVD to a network based ISO image in Windows 2008 Hyper-V RC0

    Greetings,
When I try to configre the guest OS settings to mount the CD/DVD drive to an ISO image I have setting on a file share, I consistently get an error. The only time I have been able to mount an ISO since upgrading to RC0 (I don't remember if I tested this in the BETA) is when the ISO is locally on the Windows 2008 Hyper-V server.
To be specific, I get the following error:
Virtual Machine Connection (title of the window)
    Inserting the disk failed.
Failed to add device 'Microsoft Virtual CD/DVD disk'.
User account does not have sufficient privelage to open attachment '\\remoteserver\share\ISONAME.ISO'.

'NEWGUESTOSNAME' failed to add device 'Microsoft Virtual CD/DVD Disk'. (VMID 26C8B66F-5D3F-47F9-9D80-474D0F778522)
'NEWGUESTOSNAME': User Account does not have sufficient privelage to open attachement '\\remoteserver\share\ISONAME.ISO'.
Error: 'General access denied error' (0x80070005). (VMID 26C8B66F-5D3F-47F9-9D80-474D0F778522)
I am not sure what credentials it is using. It looks almost like it is using the new computer name as credentials or something like that. The account I am logged in as at the time is a Domain Admin and has access to every server and every share. I can browse to the ISO just fine through the Hyper-V Insert Disk function, it just won't take.
I have checked the Hyper-V server settings and the Guest OS settings and can't find where to specifcy what account to use to connect to remote ISOs. Anyone have any clue on what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks for the various replies.
Understood it is an issue with the Hyper-V server computer account getting the files, and not the actual guest OS. At this point I think I will just copy some ISO's to the server. I did note the last time I used a "local" ISO that I had to manually type out the local path to the files on the server, as when I tried to browse to the local server drives through the console I got an error about connecting to the local server (which wasn't really local) through the network drives. I don't remember the exact error, but I know I couldn't get it to point to the ISO on the D:\ drive through the browse feature, but rather I just typed out the path and it was fine. That too seems like a bit of a buy/annoyance as I should be able to browse files local to the Hyper-V server, and not have to type out the path.
I guess I would ask MSFT to consider changing the behavior of the console just a little before RTM if it is being run remotely against the Hyper-V server, versus locally on it, if the permissions being used to get to the remote files are going to be different depending. I.E. It is not intuitive that the same exact action in the same exact console would behave any differently when the console is run on the Hyper-V server versus remotely against the Hyper-V server. I.E. Add in a pop-up when remotely connected to the Hyper-V server to let the user know that some permissions may not proxy through (or whatever verbiage you want to use).
This will pop-up more and more as people like me try to deploy Hyper-V on Core servers, and they used Hyper-V on a normal Windows 2008 server previously.
    Thanks!

  • How does one Create Bootable DVD from downloaded iso image in Windows?

I have a completely empty system I want to load Solaris Express on. I have access to web on a Windows XP machine and have downloaded the Solaris iso image. Using WindowsXP facilities simply copies the iso image as an intact iso image file and resulting disc is not bootable. Windows knowledge base very conveniently says that what happened to me is what happens. No obvious referral to how to do it....
    A) So for a non-Windows savy person who does not want to become Windows savy (That is why I downloaded Solaris!) Where is a set of instructions on how to (inside Windows XP) "extract" an iso image to a CD / DVD disk so it will be bootable?
    B) It sure would be nice if Solaris were able to be loaded onto a USB Flash drive and booted at will from any USB computer. Just plug it in and boot. Has this been done?
    C) Getting a physical disk by snail mail from Sun is very slow for me.... (3 weeks and still watching the mail box...)

You probably copied the .iso file as one single very large file onto media. Instead, you can use a utility such as Roxio DVD Creator or Nero (or freeware like cdrecord) , and select the option to burn an image that already exists. No special boot options are needed, because the ISO image already contains the boot information needed.
    B) It sure would be nice if Solaris were able to be loaded onto a USB Flash drive and booted at will from any USB computer. Just plug > it in and boot. Has this been done? With the Newboot project introduced into Solaris Express, I believe it is now possible. I'm not a USB expert, though, so cannot say for sure.

  • My new iMac does not recognise an iso image of windows install disk in boot camp

I have the iso file for win7 64bit but when I run bootcamp I do not get the option to use a USB stick, so loaded the file onto a DVD-R disk.
When I load the disc the iMac tries to read it then stops and asks to me to put the disk in.
I am logged in to the machine as the administrator.
As a registered MSDN member I downloaded the iso file direct from the Microsoft MSDN website only a couple of weeks ago.
Any asisstance will be most appreciated, as I am a Mac newby and I really want to dump my old windows laptop and desktop machines1

Hi I'd recommend re-posting in the Boot Camp forum, that is where the Boot Camp & Windows guru's hang out.

  • Where is the .iso file for Windows 8?

I bought the ugprade for windows 8, and ran "Windows8-UpgradeAssistant"
It scanned my computer, all was good to go. I finished downloading something... (I assumed it was windows8)
But once I finished everything, it gave me a shortcut on my desktop called "Install Windows"
When I run that shortcut, it gives me 2 options:
    -Install now
    -Install later from your desktop
This is what I see everytime I run that shortcut file.
Where can I find my .iso file??
(Note, my current computer is not the computer I want to install Win8. I'm upgrading now so that I can get the ISO file and save it for later use when I get my new computer)

"Important: This tool provides valuable information about your computer's compatibility with Windows 8, facilitates the purchase of the Windows 8 download, and then downloads the correct
version (32-bit or 64-bit) based on information about
your computer - all important reasons to run this tool from the PC you're going to clean install Windows 8 on."
... I didn't know this, and I bought windows 8 on my current PC which is 5 years old.
I'm planning to get a new computer next month which will be 64-bit. Is there a way to re-download or am I out of luck?
On the Install Windows 8 screen, choose Install by creating media and
    then click Next.
This step never showed up for me.

  • How to create ISO images for Solaris 10 U6 (10/08) SPARC CD 1 and DVD

The format of the bootable DVD and CD 1 of Solaris 10 U6 sparc has changed from previous Solaris 10 update's sparc media, it now seems to be more like the x86 format, can anyone provide the new/specific mkisofs command to use to recreate (modified version) a sparc bootable ISO image file of these from their "unloaded" directory paths, I'm guessing the mkisofs command is going to be similiar what's used for recreating Solaris 10 x86 DVD and CD1.

    Alan,
Thanks for info, when I try this mkisofs command to recreate the Sol 10 U6 CD 1 ISO image I end up 16 KB short of the original downloaded ISO size of Sol 10 U6 CD 1, the generated ISO image when burn to CD doesn't boot, I tried using both mkisofs version that comes with Sol 10 U6 & version *2.01.01a53*, here's the test I did:
mount Sol 10 U6 CD 1 as /mnt (CD 1 burned from downloaded ISO from Sun that is *512904 KB* in size)
    mkisofs -G /mnt/boot/hsfs.bootblock -B ... -l -ldots -R -N -D -V SOL_10_1008_SPARC -o test.iso /mnt
Genereated ISO image file test.iso is *512888 KB* in size and doesn't boot when burned to CD with error messages:
    Can't read disk label.
    Can't open disk label package
    ERROR: boot-read fail
    Any ideas?
