Isolating left and right Headphone chann

Here is an excerpt from a recent email that I have sent to Creative tech support. I wanted to go ahead and put it out into the forums in case anyone else was having a similar issue.
-Creative Model Number: SB0350, Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
-Serial Number: MSB03505500027K
-I purchased the soundcard from Newegg as an OEM card. It was shipped to me in a static bag with the driver installation disk.
-I currently have "Logitec Z-2300 speakers" plugged into my sound cards "Line out " jack.
-I don't know what an external decoder is and so I don't believe that I have one.
I have double checked that my onboard sound is disabled, and it is. I have had it disabled in the bios now even through a couple of windows reformats so I doubt that it's an issue.
In the device manager the sound card appears to be functioning properly and the IRQ is NOT shared with any other devices.
I have checked and double checked each suggestion just to make sure that I have covered all of my bases.
I have however discovered a few more things that have boggled my mind. Like I metioned before, the sound from the 2. system is perfect, the channels isolate from right
to left and I have no problems with it whatsoever. The Logitech Z-2300 speakers that I am using have a small satelite/volume control that has a headphone jack in it. The sound becomes
extremely distorted when I plug headphones into either this jack or directly into the soundcards "Line out". Which leads me to believe that it isn't necessarily the speaker setup.
One interesting that that I DID notice however, is that the distortion from my headphones goes away if I manipulate the volume in the "Creative Surround Mixer". Regardless of what setting
I have my speakers set to (headphones, 2., 5.) this problem is the same. I have noticed that within the "Creative Surround Mixer", in the advanced tab where you can adjust the "Left" or "Right"
channel of your speakers, that if I lower the left completely and keep the right volume full then the sound becomes perfect. It works the other way as well, if I lower the right volume level and keep
the left level at full volume then the sound becomes clear in the same manner. Now, this is a temporary fix and I can use this for the time being, but I still cannot Isolate each channel from the other.
When just my Logitech speakers are connected I hear the left channel from the left side and the right from the right. When using the headphones I hear the "Left" in both side simultaneously,
and the same with the "Right" channel. I want to resolve this issue so that I can utilize the positional audio that this card has given me in the past. I know that the headphones are not at fault
becuase I have tried with two separate pairs of them. It seems like the channels are crossing/interfering with each other somehow and I'm not saavy enought to solve this problem. Thank you
for your continuing effort with this issue.

The issue is still there. I'm not entirely certain what I am supposed to be checking for but the problem remains. Regardless of the settings that I change within the TRAKTOR player it still seems to exhibit the interferance. I just recieved a letter back from creative tech support telling me that they could not help because the item is OEM.
"Along with the OEM often comes an agreement regarding the support, use
and service of the product. This agreement may place these support
services in the hands of the manufacturer or in the hands of the company
that purchases the product from the manufacturer. At times, support is
placed in the hands of a third party brought into the agreement."
I feel that this is a cop-out. I doubt that newegg is going to have a solution to my problem. I am using the driver disk that came with my hardware and I can't possibly be the only person that is experiencing this kind of erradic behavior. I am frustrated mostly because this was never an issue for me in the past, a month ago everything worked fine.
Could it be possible that there are other hardware/software/drivers that I may have installed that could be effecting my headphones in this manner?
Is it time to reformat?

  • Isolating left and right audio tracks

    Hi Folks,
I recently recorded a musical performance on my Canon xh-a1s camera and used the on-board mic to record the room sound (left channel) and a patch directly from the mixer's desk to the right channel (by xlr cable).
I am hoping to be able to adjust the volumes of the two tracks so that I have more of the desk sound and just a little of the room mic.
I have tried adjusting the volumes of each but notice that as I adjust the volume on say the left channel, the right also moves with it.
Is there a way to individually move each of the two tracks?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

Select the audio clip(s) on the timeline that you want to modify to dual mono by clicking on them. If you want to select multiple clips, hold the shift key down while clicking on the tracks.
Once you have them selected , go to the menu Modify > Stereo Pair and select it. It will toggle Stereo Pairing on the clip(s), and levels will be able to be adjusted independently.

  • I get noise when I combine left and right from the headphone output.

I need to combine the left and right channels of a Macbook Pro at the output connector.  When I build the cable to do this, there is significant static noise introduced.  If I break the short between left and right, the noise goes away.
(I'm doing this to put both channels of audio into a single side of a set of headphones, and I really don't want to buy a mixer.)

    Eddie,
I just ran a test on my G5 Logic system (Logic 9.02) with an internal RME PCI 8in/8out Audio Card and I get perfect separation bouncing to a stereo audio file using standard panning. Click on one side and a couple of crunchy guitars on the other. Each side is completely separate.
So, it seems to point to your hardware unless you have some other audio routing that we've missed.
I'm re-doing my setup so I may try a couple of other tests as I go along.

  • HT4108 What is required to use the video composite out on the iPhone 4.  Left and right audio works ok

What is required to use the video composite out on the iPhone 4   The left and right audio works ok

Please not that the iPhone uses mono channel for internal speakers, the other path that you see is not the speaker per say. It is the phone microphone. Try using headphones, you will hear both channels. If the problem still persists when using headphones, check your sound balancing in the settings. Go to setting-general-accessibility scroll down and check the slide under mono audio. It should be put at the centre for you to hear both channels ON YOUR HEADPHONES

  • How to make track work in both left and right speaker?

i have an audio track with 2 speakers that each had a lav mic on them.  one was recorded into left channel and the other the right channel.  so of course when i play back each of their voices only come out of one speaker.  pretty new to audition so how do i fix the track so that they each come out of both speakers?  TIA

I have to say that, although not uncommon, for TV it depends quite a lot on how things are shot.  In a standard interview situation where you might have a 2-shot to establish (with a definite left and right position) then a close up of the interviewee then a cutaway of the reporter and so on, panning can become very confusing and it tends to be better to just put everything in the centre.
Radio is easier because you don't have to be aware of what pictures are showing--but, even there care needs to be taken especially since, as Steve says, a lot of listening is on ear buds or headphones which accentuate any panning.  Even in radio, though, choices have to be careful...for example, let's say the host starts with an interview where he's panned slightly right and the guest slightly left.  So far, so good.  However, then the next two stories are just studio reads...does the host stay panned slightly right for consistency or does he move to the centre possibly causing confusion?
I'm not saying never give positioning clues in a radio or TV mix, just that you always have to be aware of the bigger picture.

  • Panning / left and right switched

    Hi all,
I know it seems rather silly, but my left and right seem to be switched and I don't know how to solve it. I use a Presonus Firestudio Mobile, that is FireWire connected, I connect my headphones to the card's hp-output, so there's no cables to switch...
Anyone got a suggestion other than "Get used to it"?
    thnx,

    Hi,
get used to using the Gain Plugin. There you can swap L/R if you have to. But there's also the possibility that your headphones are wrong cabled. You should cross-check this.

  • Left and right channel panning for drummer backing tracks in Garageband - HELP

    Hi there
OK, so I've finished my song on garageband that I've recorded with a USB keyboard with many STEREO keyboard parts and a click track.
I need to be able to mix down to the following specification for my drummer.
Left Channel - Mono keyboard sounds (to goto PA)
Right Channel - Same Mono keyboard sounds plus click track (to be heard through headphones)
So basically the keyboard will be the same mono track at the same volume playing through both the left and right. I cant simply put the stereo keyboard sound in the centre as that would mean the drummer would get SOME parts of the keyboards stereo fields and the PA would get the other parts of the stereo field so it wouldnt sound right.
Any ideas how to do this?
I hope I've explained myself OK

I need to be able to mix down to the following specification for my drummer.
Left Channel - Mono keyboard sounds (to goto PA)
Right Channel - Same Mono keyboard sounds plus click track (to be heard through headphones)
Here are instructions on how to split a stereo track into mono tracks:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/FAQPages/StereoToMono.html
On top of this, you will want to re-import the mono keyboard track back into Garageband, duplicate it onto a 2nd mono track,  then add the click track (on a separate 3rd mono track of course).  Then pan one mono keyboard track hard left, and pan the other mono keyboard track hard right and the click track hard right as well.  Export as normal and everything should be good.

  • True Stereo Left and Right Separation from Mac

    Hello All,
This is quite long so please be patient.
I am trying to figure out if there is a way to get "true" left and right playback for split tracks through iTunes. By "true" I mean that neither the right track bleeds through the left or left through right. I use a lot of split tracks in our church and am trying to do it straight through iTunes.
I tested it with a stereo feed coming from the headphone jack to two independent speakers playing through iTunes. The instruments come out the right and the vocals come out the left. When I unplugged the left speaker (vocal) I could hear the vocal bleeding through the right speaker.
To further test this I burned a CD of the same song, played it through a stereo and could separate the left and right audio. I played the same CD through iTunes and unplugged the left speaker and could hear the vocal bleeding through the right speaker.
One last test, I opened Quicktime and selected the same track from the CD, played it through Quicktime, unplugged the left speaker and the vocal did NOT bleed through the right speaker.
So lesson learned, unless I am missing something - iTunes cannot really separate left and right signal from mp3's on the hard drive or burned audio on a CD.
By the way, if anyone knows how to accomplish this true split I would be grateful to hear it.
    Thanks,
    Greg

Ok.... I did some further testing.
I went back and noticed that in preferences under playback there is a checkbox for sound enhancer. With this checked you will get bleed of the left channel into the right channel. With it unchecked you will get the separation needed to play split tracks. Looks like I answered my own question. Hahaha.
Thanks everyone that looked into this,
    Greg

  • Vibration to the Left and Right of Trackpad?

I want to know if it's normal for the macbook to have vibration to the left and right of the trackpad. Thanks in advance.

It's not isolated and the vibrations transfer through the case.
If I put my hand on the top of the lid I can feel them there as well. Very slight and nothing to be worried about, but there nonetheless.

  • Left and Right messed up

    ? Hi,?
I have a Creative Labs X-Fi... I think its the X-Fi XtremeMusic one (it came from Dell)
I have a /8" headphone jack --> 2 RCAs, going into a reciever that has 4 speakers hooked to it...
and all of the sudden if I move the left and right slider on the computer? all of the speakers play reguardless of the slider position.
If I have the slider in the center, it seems slightly louder.
I installed the creative console and when I test the speaker location, all of the speakers turn on for all of the locations...
I have tried the same thing on the reciever and it correctly shuts off the right speakers...
Does anyone have a sugestion I can try? in the creative console should i be using 2 speakers? What port should i plug in the /8" jack?
    Thanks!!

AHHH... I spent about 2 hours on this and finally decided to post on here... then 30 seconds after I posted it, I figured out why!!
Someone put the recieve in mono mode!!

  • Left and right audio is cancelling out when I stream from macbook to apple TV2

When I stream from iTunes on my Macbook to my Apple TV the left and right audio sounds like it is cancelling each other out, meaning the lead vocal on songs is very low in the mix.  Anyone know why this is happening?

Well there is something definitely wrong. If track is panned to left channel and the output virtual LEDs show left channel only then it has to be a problem somewhere else. Are you using a digital interface or the 1/8" audio out to mixer, headphone.

  • Left and right mouse coding for games

    Hi
Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to find actionscript 2/3 coding for left and right mouse clicks for gaming. I am a student and want to design a game that will use both left and right mouse clicks on a object that will give different results depending on which mouse click you had made.
For example on a red object you click right, on a blue object you click left. Depending on how you clicked on a object will determine the next step in the code.
    Does this make sense?
    Cheers
    Beth

I believe there is no method provided for isolating right clicks with a mouse in Flash.  The right click is reserved for pulling up a menu and there are no properties associated with it in the code.

  • Touchpad left and right clicks don't work on Yoga 2 pro

    Hi,
I just bought a a yoga 2 pro. After setting up, I found that the two bottom keys, left and right keys on the trackpad do not work. Double tap also doesn't work. I reinstall the touchpad driver to no avail. Other gestures on the touchpad work fine, single tap registers as left click, two finger scroll also works. Also, when I use a blue tooth mouse, left and right key works fine.
I am not sure if this is a hardware problem as when I swipe on the area of the two bottom keys, they register the movement. Just not click. Anyone can help me?

    Hello,
I've had a Yoga2 Pro now for six months or so.  Just recently the left click stopped working correctly.  What I notice is that when holding down the left click button on the touch pad, and I try to drag a slider (like a volume slider or to drag a selection box or to drag a scroll box on a page, or to highlight text) and it stops holding down the click.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it keeps stopping.
Now, the right click is malfunctioning as well.  I press right click on something like an image, and nothing happens.  I have to right click on something 2-10 times now for it to register that I'm right clicking.
Also, should I be able to tap the touchpad with two fingers and have that be a right click, or am I just reading that I should be able to do that on the screen (which  can)?
I have downloaded the drivers for the y2p touchpad and the y2-13 and the generic ones from the synaptics webpage, but before I uninstall my drivers and try to install those, I want to be sure that is the correct and only possible fix.  I'm hoping its not a hardware malfunction.  I am running Win 8.1.
    Thank you.

  • My ipod's music quality is inferior. It doesnt have the surround sound/ left and right audio channel unlike my brothers ipod? is there a problem with the chip?

I have an ipod touch 4g (8GB), I got this about 2.5 months ago, the same time my brother get his. My problem is that I noticed that audio quality is better on his device than mine. I have been listening to music and had different music devices before (non-Apple product and mobile phone) and the quality of music is better when I used to listen to those devices as well as my brother's ipod touch. Im referring to the left and right audio channels. Im not so good about the technical stuff but the best explanation I can give you is in a music or a movie, there's an effect wherein you can here a sound only at the left ear phone/speaker that you cant hear at the right earphone/speaker. I mean for example in a song, a guitar intro can be heared only at the left
ear while the background music plays on the other ear. Or when theres and echo effect on the song that alternates sound on the left and right ear. I hope youre getting what Im trying to say. Im bothered that my ipod is fake or has an internal problem on the chips or something because I didnt bought this at an Apple Center/Mac Center. I bought it on a retailer. I am not able to visit any store or Genius Bar  or contact an apple specialist through phone because of my work schedule and work load.  I have contacted the retailer before when I tried to return it for replacement or repair but he told me that it is under Apple's warranty, not theirs. I do hope that I can get a help from you because I want to really enjoy my device. Thank you and Im looking forward for the responce/assistance form you.

I suggest you don't apply pressure to the screen - it's a Touch - you touch the screen not push it.
