Isolating WebIntelligence ad hoc reports to specific Webi Report Processing Server

Post Author: Lucia Chan
CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
Has anyone successfully isolated WebIntelligence ad hoc reports to be processed by specific Webi Report Processing Server?  We need to enforce governance on the database side.  We can restrict scheduling for Webi reports to specific Webi Report Processing Server, but not for ad hoc reports.  Otherwise is there a way to do connection override for scheduled Webi reports?

New version that's comming up SBO Bi4.0 will have bouilt in monitoring that will allow what you requesting.
In the current product line - this is not possible, unless you just monitor WIReportServer.exe at OS level and alert when it's memory or CPU usage goest too high... (if memory reaches close to and above 1.7gb - you're going into troubles.)
There are various fixes and improvements to Webi processing stability in recent fix and service packs, so if you're having webi instability - you should review latest FP fix issues list (in SMP to right of FP download there is an Info link - it leads to fixed issues docs).
If you do not see your issue listed - open incident with support - let them investigate.
Webi crashing when merging/unmerging dimentions sounds like a bug...

  • Different display on client report builder and web reports

    Hi all, I have build a report in report 6i version Report Builder 6.0.8.13.1.And I set the page to 8.5*11 ,and it runs well in the client ,but when I put it on the UNIX SERVER,and run it from web URL,It displayed different from the client report builder.The web report is "smaller" than the client report ,but the font size is as same as the client .
    My HPUX is 11x,and display the Chinese report .
    Any body know why ?give me some advice ,thank u very much.

    Hi
    If you had built the report definition on Windows and then moved this to Unix server, you may find different fonts in use. This is becuase your Unix setup does not have the same fonts install. At design time, You need to use fonts which are available on Unix also. The same fonts shaould also be installed for printer in Unix i.e. the AFM/PFM font files should be kept under $ORACLE_HOME/guicommonX/tkXX/admin/AFM or PFM directory. This would give you the same output and would lessen the porting affect.
    Thanks

  • Find heap memory Size for Web Intelligence processing server in BO 4.0

    Hi All ,
    We need to gather data for sizing inputs.For Adaptive processing server , we can find same by going in CMC> Server > APS > Properties & check value for the parameter -Xmx  . Could you please tell how to  find the max heap memory allocated for a Web Intelligence processing server in BO 4.0 as for Webi server this parameter is not maintained. ?
    Regards ,
    Abhinav

    Hi Abhinav,
    The maximum threshold is a value which may reach on peak usage and Webi processing server cannot occupy memory beyond this value at any time.
    In your situation 9 Webi Processing servers with 16 GB of RAM on server is not recommended. This is because consider situation with total 16 GB of host RAM.
    4 GB should left for OS
    Tomcat will need minimum 2 GB for 200 users
    So you are left with 10 GB RAM for all BO services
    Now 9 Webi Processing servers with 6 GB of Threshhost will not work here
    For this configuration you can have 2 Webi Processing servers with default threshold should be running on single host.

    Hi,
    Check in the logs if there is any error.
    or you can try with below steps.
    Clone your webi processing server
    Disable and stop the old webi processing server
    edit properties of the new webi processing server and click all available checkboxes that called "Restore System Defaults".
    Click save and close.
    start and enable the new webi processing server

  • To Link a Crystal Report (2008) from Webi report - Prompts not to Repeat

    Hi ,
    I have created a Webi report and Crystal report (2008) both have the same prompts.now i want to create a Hyperlink in Webi to link the Crystal report.
    i am able to do this. however the crystal report is again asking to provide the prompts which i already given in Webi.which should not happen.
    So how to achieve this scenario in Webi.
    Need your help as soon as possible.

    Kishore.

  • Link to Child Webi report from Parent Webi report

    Hi All,
    I have child link for webi report in my parent webi report.
    But, when i click on URL for child report, its again asking for logon credentials.
    Is there any way to avoid asking logon credentials, instead it should pick credentials from parent.
    Please reply.
    Thanks,
    Bhanu

    Hi
          If your link contains different host that is, after clicking the link if you want to redirect to another document with another BO server that time you have to supply credential (Login info of this server).
    Case of same server no need to supply credential.
    Thanks

  • How to  create report tabs in webi report

    How to create report tabs in WebIntelligence report in BO XIR2  through .net sdku2019s?

    ReportEngine.NET (RE.NET) SDK does not have report creation/modification functionality.
    ReportEngine Java (REBean) does, and you're able to add a Report (and thus a Report Tab) with it.

  • Multiple Column Header in Report (BEx and Web Reporting)

    Hi All,
            I've a requirement where my reports is having multiple column header.
       To be precise the column header is further divided into many sub-columns (upto 4 levels).
    Structure cannot help in this case since we have more than 2 such columns and we are using web reporting as well.
    Here is how it looks
                             <b>Header-A</b>
    Header-B1   |   Header-B2   |   Header-B3    |  Header-Bn
    Hdr-C1 |Hdr-C2 |Hdr-D1 |Hdr-D2 |Hdr-E1 |Hdr-E2 |Hdr-Fn..
    The above is a sample header structure.
    This report will be a Web Based report and I need to know whether its possible to do it in BEx also.
    We are not using Crystal Reports.
    If there is any document related to this, please mail to
    [email protected]
    Thanks & Regards,
    Chandran Ganesan

    Hi Chandran,
    I hope i am getting your problem right.
    If your
    Header-B1 | Header-B2 | Header-B3 | Header-Bn
    Hdr-C1 |Hdr-C2 |Hdr-D1 |Hdr-D2 |Hdr-E1 |Hdr-E2 |Hdr-Fn..
    are a set of key figures, then there is an option.
    For example:
    You drag Header-B1,Hdr-C1 |Hdr-C2
    into column section.Right click on Hdr-C1, Hdr-C2 and select down under. So your Hdr-C1, Hdr-C2 will be under
    Header-B1.
    Like wise drag Header-B2,Hdr-D1,Hdr-D2
    Right click on Hdr-D1,Hdr-D2 and say Down under and these two will fit below Header-B2.
    You can repeat the above steps for Header-B3... Header-Bn
    The output will be same as the one you have specified above.
    Hope it helps,
    Regards,
    Parth.

  • Two BI Reports in one WEBI Report ?

    Hi Guys
    i have 2 BI sales reports in BEX Query Designer. One shows the Summary of Sales in a month and the Other shows the Details of the Sales. The USers want to see both the Reports in WEBI on one page as one report. they want the summary report to show on the top part of the page and the Detail part on the bottom of the same page.
    is this possible ?
    if so what will happen to the two selection menus for each report in WEBI. both BI reports have a selection menu. will they show up as one selections menu in the WEBI report?

    if you have the same text for the prompts into the selection lists for your Bex queries, i think Webi will merge them into one promots, im not sure, but i think it will be merged
    but make sure that they have the same prompt text
    good luck

  • Web Intelligence Processing Server Stops

    We are having an issue with BOBJ XI 3.1 where the Web Intelligence Processing Servers just stop on their own and are stuck in the "starting" state.  We can't seem to find a pattern to when or why this is happening.  The only way to get the server back running is to Force Termination and then restart.
    Anyone else having these problems?  Anyone have any ideas on a possible fix?
    Thanks in advance.

    Denis,
    OK...so...
    Should it better standard practice for all BOXI installs to modify the reg key

  • Change initial report view in web report via commands

    Hi,
    we would like to reduce the number of webtemplates by changing the initial view of a standard webtemplate.
    One webtemplate will created but used for several user roles.
    In each user-role we want to add some CMD's.
    Eg. &cmd=exchange&iobjnm_1=Z9_FNCT_2&iobjnm_2=Z9_ASSET.
    Yet, this seems not the work once we executhe the webtemplate for the given user role.
    Has anyone an idea how we could expand the standard URL with CMD's, so that we can swap the initial view?
    Regads,
    Hans.
    Message was edited by: Mary Joan Hebert

    Hi,
    commands have to be added as command sequence
    first command is cmd=ldoc&template_id=XYZ then add &cmd_1=cmd%3dexchange%26iobjnm_1%3dZ9_FNCT_2%26iobjnm_2%3dZ9_ASSET%26DATA_PROVIDER%3dDATAPROVIDER_1.
    Assuming that you named your data Provider DATAPROVIDER_1.
    Please take special notice to url escaping of & and = in your commandsequence.
    Also have a look on the documentation.

    Also you should think about using saved views for initializing your template (if the url get too complex this is often a better solution).

  • How to schedule a webi report in csv format without header?

    I have a requirement to create scheduled csv reports without table headers? I am unable to do this from CMC. It gives the column headers by default in the exported csv file. However, in the webI rich client, I have an option to save the document as "CSV-Archive" which allows me to omit the column header.
    How are these two options different and is there a way to get the "CSV-Archive" option from CMS?
    Looking for your valuable suggestions.
    Thanks
    Sukanto

    Is there a way to get the "CSV-Archive" option from CMS?
    Customization of existing options or features in CMC is not available, it will become an enhancement request, you have to place this request in SAP Idea place.
    WebIntelligence Rich client is a desktop tool, auto schedule of reports as .csv is not possible, save as CSV and save as to "CSV Archive" from Rich Client is a manual job.
    BI launch pad, CMC are BOE Server components have the ability to auto schedule as .csv, as a default behavior column headers will be exported to CSV along with report data.
    As a workaround, have a copy of original wibi reports in your webi reports you have to hide table headers and schedule them to save as .csv
    To hide table headers:
    Edit the report -> Select table block properties -> Chose 'Format Table' -> Under 'General' properties 'Display' options un-check "Show table headers"

  • How to set a webi report's caching format?

    Hello Community,
    I have come to a hurdle that I can not conquer on my own and for as much as I have tried can not find samples or documents on how to accomplish this.
    I am writing code to schedule webi reports and the piece that handles the caching format and locales keeps failing. I have used 2 approaches:
    The first approach I used the IWebiProcessingInfo.getPrecacheTypes()
    here is some reference:
    Webi document: webi (IInfoObject)
    caching: an panelcontaining a list object containing the selected locales
    try {
                if (caching.getFormatOptionExcel()) {
                    ((IWebiProcessingInfo) webi).setPreCacheXLSEnabled(true);
                    loadLocales(IPrecacheType.CeOutputType.OUTPUT_XLS, caching.getSelelectedLocales());
    } catch (SDKException ex) {
                Exceptions.printStackTrace(ex);
    private void loadPreCacheAndLocales(int type, List locales) throws SDKException {
            IPrecacheType pt = ((IWebiProcessingInfo) webi).getPrecacheTypes().add(type);
            pt.getLocales().clear();
            pt.getLocales().addAll(locales);
    Although this bit of code executes successfully, when you try reschedule the object via the CMC I get a null pointer exception on the web page.
    The second approach I used is: ReportEngine preloadOutputCache(int, String, OutputCacheEntry[])
    try {
    if (caching.getFormatOptionExcel()) {
                    ((IWebiProcessingInfo) webi).setPreCacheXLSEnabled(true);
                    ReportEngine wbe = getWebiEngine();
                    wbe.preloadOutputCache(webi.getID(), agent.getSeverName(),
                        new OutputCacheEntry[]{new OutputCacheEntry(OutputFormatType.XLS, caching.getSelectedLocalesAsArray())});
    } catch (SDKException ex) {
                Exceptions.printStackTrace(ex);
    This approach erros out with the following:
    com.businessobjects.sdk.core.exception.common.NotImplementedException: This feature is not implemented. (Error: RWI 00013)
      at com.businessobjects.sdk.core.exception.ExceptionBuilder.make(ExceptionBuilder.java:144)
      at com.businessobjects.sdk.core.exception.ExceptionBuilder.make(ExceptionBuilder.java:115)
      at com.businessobjects.rebean.wi.internal.WIReportEngine.preloadOutputCache(WIReportEngine.java:519)
    Anybody know whats going on or perhaps point me in the right direction on how to correctly set the caching format and local for a webi document.
    Thanks guys!

  • Disabling Cache for a webi report

    Hello,
    We have BO 4.1 SP1 system. We have a webi report based on bw- bex. That bex is connected to a table in R3 that momentarily updates itself. So, we are supposed have a report connected to live data. (bex query cache is already disabled on bw)
    The problem is, by the data changes, the webi report fails to catch the new data in time. The bex query it is connected, almost momentarily updates itself, however, webi does not. The goal is to make the webi report's result data to match the bex query result as the table in R3 updates.
    To achieve that, we created a server group in CMC, named it "no-cache" and put some cloned servers with supposed no cache holding properties. (The screenshot of the servers are attached.) We scheduled the webi report in every 5 minutes, allowing only the no cache servers to be used. However, it is still reported that the webi report does not match the bex from time to time.
    Am I missing some server cache configuration? Or is a real-time data webi report not possible?
    Thank you

    Also, the third screen shot for the server properties is as below.
    Thank you again.

  • How to access data from SAP Tables from a Webi report

    hi all,
    I have a webi report for financial data and from a Bex query which is build on a Cube (this has data from 2 SAP ECC systems)
    i want to build a functionality where in i can call some SAP Table data from this webi report. i should be able to pass information or some hard code where it can understand the source system it has to pick data from.
    in SAP BI, we have this ption wherein we can achieve this through RRI..
    is this possible in Webi ?
    Thanks
    SKS

    Hi.
    Create a universe on top of SAP Tables and create a webi report.
    Using hyper link /open doc we can call  this report from the webi report created on top of your Cube .
