Isql*plus service

i delete my isq*plus service manaully on my windows machine with the following command:
D:\>sc delete OracleOraDb10g_home1iSQL*Plus
[SC] DeleteService SUCCESS
how can i recreate this service without reinstalling oracle software

Hi,
Why don't create a service of isqlplus and try to test it, since you have removed or deleted the service registration from the registry but not the software components. There is would not be required to install a isqlplus components once again.

  • 10G installation - isql*plus service in 'starting' status after instalation

I am installing Oracle 10G rel. 10.2.0.1.0 in a fresh formatted system on win 2003 enterp. edition. SP1.
In the installtion at 99% stage after setup is done it throws pop-up that : "isqlplusscv : failed to start the service, Error , the operation completed successfully".
Installation seems to have finished successfully but,I see in services.msc that isqlplus* service is in "starting" mode and i have tried all possible ways to start the service manually, setting ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID env. variables thru cmd and manually also with all sets of permutaions and combinations. But still 'OraclePSI102ISQL*Plus' service is in 'starting' status only.
Even tried uninstalling oracle with all proper registry deletions in a proper procedure and re-installed 10G.Still at the same 99% stage it throws same pop-up, and all the above condition is same.
    Could anyone help resolving this?

  • ISql*plus Crashes all the time

    Hi ,
I have installed Oracle10G in Wingows2003 server and created a database. My iSql*plus service crashes after every couple of hours and I need to restart it. Is there any bug with isqlplus on Windows ?
    Thanks,
    Asha

Are there any errors in the event log?
Are there any errors in the iSQL*Plus logs? The iSQL*Plus log file is written to:
    $ORACLE_HOME/oc4j/j2ee/isqlplus/application-deployments/isqlplus/application.log
The iSQL*Plus Help log file is written to:
    $ORACLE_HOME/oc4j/j2ee/isqlplus/application-deployments/isqlplushelp/application.log
You could try setting the iSQL*Plus error logging level to something higher than the default to see if there are any other errors:

  • License for isql*plus

    Hi,
we have enterprise edition 10.2.0.1 license. I know that for OEM 10g, we require license to use.
we want to enable isql*plus services also
do we require license for isql*plus services.
    Please suggest...

as i said. if we want to use OEM 10g Database control..do we require license, as we have 10g enterpirse edition license...Database control doesn't require license. Its a free product. Yes if you would require to use Enterprise Manager to its fullest power than you have to deploy Grid Control which is a seperatly licensed prodcut. If you are just going to use Database Control than there is no need to buy any license.
Looking at this thread, there may not be a requiremtn to go for Grid Control's licsense too. There is a message saying in the thread that the entire info is valid and checked by an oracle sales rep but I would still urge you to check back with your own Oracle Sales rep.
License for OEM Grid Control or just the additional Packs and Add-Ins?

  • Help to start iSQL*PLUS and OEM services

Here is what I did in trying upgrade 10.1 to 10.2 on Windows:
    1. use Oracle Universal Installer installed 10.2 in a separated ORACLE_HOME;
    2. run pre-upgrade assistant (utlu102i.sql)
    3. run Net Configuration Assistant to congired listner
    4. run DBUA ( however message shows that database already upgraded)
At this point, new instance is up. new listner is working, but iSQL*PLUS and oem services didn't even be recognized by OS.
From Universal Installer, I saw iSQL*PLUS and OEM were installed. What I am missing here in order to start services of iSQL*PLUS and OEM?

Well, the instance is running properly. sqlplus also works fine. Because there is no new OEM service available if you look at Services list, how it could be meaningful to connect to OEM through a browser? As fact, browser can not connect to OEM.
Do I need to reinstall 10.2?

  • TNS error connecting to db using iSQL*Plus

I am trying to use iSQL to access our database (Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0) for the first time.
    I have reviewed Note 185707.1.
I start the HTTP Server on my client PC.
I bring up my web browser (IE version 6).
I enter in the URL http://<<host>>:7778/isqlplus.
    ISQL*Plus login page is displayed.
I enter a valid user, password and connection identifier and receive the ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name Error.
In the Note referenced above, there are instructions for configuring the iSQL*Plus Server, but I am not sure what that is (or where it is). It says to enter a new connection identifier in the tnsnames.ora file as follows:
    connection identifier = (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=www.oracle.com) (PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=orashop)))
but I am confused as to how this would be different from my existing connection unless we are supposed to put this in literally then use connection string orashop (which seems unlikely).
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Tracy

You have a couple of options.
    1. Leave the connection identifier empty to connect to the default database (just like in SQL*Plus command line).
    2. Confirm you can log into SQL*Plus command line using the same connection identifier.
    3. Confirm that your tnsnames.ora file contains the correct connection information for the database you are trying to connect to.
The 'orashop' example is only an example.

  • ISql*Plus works well, but sqlplus throws ORA-12560. Why?

I installed Oracle DB 10.2.0.1 on Windows XP. After the installation, everything works like clockwork. ... well, until I installed Oracle Application server 10.1.2.0.2.
For the most part, it still works fine. But now, whenever I run sqlplus from command line, I get ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error. I can still connect using the same login from iSql*Plus without any problem. Why?
Now I'm supposed to cd into a directory, fire off sqlplus and run a sql script. How do I do this in iSql*Plus?
    Any help? Thanks,
    -M

Thanks for the replies. I got the idea. I need to set
those variables myself, although I personally think
the installer should take care of that during
    installation.
Now, out of curiosity, why did iSql*Plus never have
the problem even though I didn't have any those
variables set in my environment? No idea why those aren't set automatically, but they aren't, as you found out. :)
iSQL*Plus is a web based service, and I believe it uses JDBC, not straight OCI calls.
