ISQL*Plus startup problem

Having reviewed the recent thread on this subject but still unable to get iSQL*Plus - I need some help. Here are the details:
Environment: Windows XP, Oracle 10g PE
Started iSQL*Plus in CMD window with command: isqlplusctl start - and got message iSQL*Plus started
Now I go to IE and try the URL for iSQL*Plus I got when I installed: http://192.168.1.100:5560/isqlplus - and get the message: The page can not be displayed.
What am I doing wrong?
Any help is appreciated - as I am new to Oracle...

i have installed oracle 9i release 1 on windows 2000 pro but iSQL Plus not working.
I checked on installed products and it is there and also find isqlplus.conf file.
what are the requirements of iSQL Plus and how can we chech them?
I have not find 'isqlplus.ini' where it should be?
isqlplusctl start is also not working.
how can we check http server availability?
I tried http://localhost but IIS is opening.
Tried http://localhost:7776/isqlplus - getting same message: The page can not be displayed.
Hope you can help on this issue as you solved your problem.

  • MSI eclipse plus startup problem

    Hi,
I have the MSI eclipse plus motherboard, but I have a strange startup problem.
Sometimes my computer fails to start up. When I try again sometimes it works fine. (without changing any hardware or software configuration)
The Eclipse plus has a small  D-led2 panel that shows information about the startup phases.
When my startup fails, the panel mentions: CPU init. And the error Code is FF (this means: power on and first initialize CPU)
(This is the phase just before DDR init).
So the startup fails in a very early stage of the startup process, (before I can access my bios)
When the start up fails, I have to disconnect the power cable, reconnect and try to start again. This is a very uncomfortable situation.
I have the latest BIOS version 21/04/2009 V1.0
I tried the fail-save default options in the bios.
    My processor is i7 940
    RAM: OCZ DDR3 . 6 pieces of 2GB. 1600Mhz (3 dual channel kits)
    Power supply: Corsair 1000Watt
I hope somebody can help me.
    Thanks in advance

Please note that the memory controller was moved into the CPU with the i7 - it is no longer part of motherboard chipset (MCH). You're not the first and probably won't be the last to buy the wrong type of DDR3 memory for your i7 rig. People, before you buy; check if the memory you are handing money over for is actually suitable for your CPU. Simple really as they will state they are i7 compatible. The i7 has a recommended maximum voltage of 1.65V for the integrated memory controller, 1.9V is probably a dangerous voltage to set it to (if the BIOS even allows it). To quote the OCZ FAQ:
    Quote
The memory supply voltage also powers the receivers and senders on the memory controller with a voltage plane known as VDDQ. Because the Corei7 is manufactured on a 45 nm node, the logic is sensitive to overvoltage and Intel defines the upper safe limit for the Core i7 as 1.65V.
    So to answer your question:
    Quote
I still have one question: What do I risk with my DDR3 memory that is standard at 1.9V
More than likely, the integrity of the i7 940 itself. You have to ask yourself, "What's cheaper to replace... the RAM or the CPU?" The answer should be simple enough to work out for the average user.
I'd be taking the RAM back if at all possible and exchange/upgrade it for an i7 compatible kit (which will be three/six stick tri-channel, not two/four sticks dual-channel) designed to operate within the 1.5V~1.65V recommended voltage range. The OCZ equivalent (comparing what you currently have) to what you want would be this range.

    Dear Forum,

  • ISQL*Plus problem..

I am a newbie of Oracle, just installed Oracle in my own PC as well as iSQLPlus servies started.
I have no problem in entering http://MYIP:5560/isqlplus, I failed to login by using sys account.
It return an error 'ERROR - ORA-28009: connection to sys should be as sysdba or sysoper'
    I entered:
    username: sys
    password: [password for sys]
Connect Identifier: eepmf (name of my DB)
I have ever tried to leave Connection Identifier empty. But the problem persist.
Did I miss the Oracle Net Connection string? (According to my study guide, but I am not sure what is it)... Could someone help me? Thank you so much

I am trying to do the following but cannot proceed in step 2...
To set up the iSQL*Plus DBA URL
    1) Create users for the iSQL*Plus DBA URL - I have created a new user named 'stanley'.
    2) Grant the webDba role to users. - When I tried to add the role to this user, I cannot find 'WebDBA', I just found a role named DBA but not WebDBA - are they the same or I missed some steps?
    3) Restart the iSQL*Plus server after making any changes to the JAZN authentication file, jazn-data.xml. The JAZN authentication file is changed when you use the JAZN admin tool to set up users for the iSQL*Plus DBA URL.

  • Problem with ISQL Plus

    Hi All,'
here i am facing one problem with ISQL plus
i am connecting ISQL plus from Oracle Enterprise manager(OEM) while connecting it throws an error
"connection was refused when attempting to contact <servername>:5560"
    Please help me out

After the port you are reporting on your thread, 5560, it looks like you are using a 10g release, however it is advisable to specify both, the os and db version at the start of your thread, isqlplus has had several architectural changes throughout the different oracle versions since it first appeared at 9iR1 going through 10gR2. There have been people who are even surprised to find out it is no longer installed with 11g and unnecessarily find a hard time trying to set it up.

  • Some Smaller Problems concerning HTTP-Server and iSQL*PLUS

    Hi!
    System: WIN2K, ORA 9.0.0.1
    1. Problem: With HTTP-Server launched by ORACLE at System Start
can not connect to DB via iSQL*Plus, message: ORA-12638 (german
    message:"Abruf des Berechtigungsnachweis misslungen") Credential
retrieval failed. Does no longer occur when shutting down
service and relaunching Apache manually. Why?
    2. HTTP Server dies instantly when accidentially sending /*
somewhere in SQL-Statement or alone via iSQL*Plus (in SQL*Plus
Window /* starts DOC-Mode without chance to end DOC-mode with #)
    Can anyone help? Thank you!
TIP: Manipulating Database via iSQL*Plus on a Eudora-Browser
with IR Cellular impresses every Boss! :-)

    Hello CJ
1st of all: Thank you for your answer!
What privilege iSQL*Plus connection are you trying make?Tried as normal user and as sysdba. Both works well with Apache
in Console, both doesn4t work with Apache as a Service started
(even if there is a 2nd Apache started in Console window)
Can you connect as a normal user
if you specify a full DB connection string? By full connection
    string I mean the "(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS...)))"
etc. syntax commonly seen in tnsnames.ora. No! Error "SP2-0306 Invalid Option" occurs.
that the problem also occurs in the old GUI (non-web version)
version of SQL*Plus?Right! Typing DOC means entering (now unsupported) DOC Mode
(DOC> Prompt) return to SQL> with #. Typing /* gets you into DOC-
Mode but you can4t leave with #. (SQL*Plus userguide and
    reference Part F Obsolete Commands)
In iSQL*Plus (web based version) typing /* caused apache to die
(on console!! as service as I mentioned: no connection ).
Somehow problem no longer occurs. (Miracle?)
    3. Your Palm efforts sound neat! Can you share with the forum
how usable it is? Are there any configuration tricks
you found? No tricks needed, I just started a connection to a local
Provider via IR and Nokia Cellular. Connected to DB via
iSQL*Plus using Eudora-Browser, logged in as sysdba and shutdown
DB and started it again. Looked at some v$-views, killed a
session or two had a good time and impressed everyone. Decide
for yourself if this could be useful. Might be helpful for
remote troubleshooting during holidays so don4t tell your boss
    about it.
(Did anyone try this on Windows CE? Like to know!)

  • Problems with report using isql*plus

    Hi there,
As the title of this topic illustrates, i'm having trouble dumping relevant data from columns of different tables. Using isql*plus, I have three tables appropriatly related. A 'course' table, 'student' and 'next_of_kin' tables. I have many students enrolled on various courses but only a hanfull of courses offer the module option 'Database Systems'. I have no 'module' table but i know the three course names which provide the module option. I intend on producing a report hich lists all students enrolled on the courses which provid the module option 'Database Systems'. I have attempted the report but i keep getting a 'cartesian product' displaying all next_of_kin names instead of the appropriate. Also i am struggling to come up with the right WHERE statement to depict only the three courses which provide the module option 'Database Systems' as defined by 'courseNo' in both 'course' and 'student' tables.
Here is the most recent attempt:
    --set echo off*
    --set pagesize 24*
    --set feedback off*
    --set linesize 78*
col A format 99999999 heading 'Student No'
col B format A15 heading 'Student Name'
col C format A15 heading 'Course Name'
col D format 99999999 'Course No'
    col E format A10 heading 'Next-of-Kin'
    break on A skip 1 on B
TTitle 'Business Studies 1 Option BT300'
BTitle 'Prepared By : Richard Stroud / 20527796'
    Select student.StudentNo "Student No",
    student.fName || ' ' || student.lName "Student Name",
    course.title "Course Name",
    course.courseNo "Course No",
    next_of_kin.fName || ' ' || next_of_kin.lName "Next-of-Kin"
    From student, course, next_of_kin
    where course.courseNo = '12885545'
    order by studentNo
    --clear columns*
    --TTitle off*
    --BTitle off*
    --set feedback on*
    --set pagesize 24*
    --clear breaks*
Any help towards this toipic will be GREATLY appreciated

According to my little knowledge - i don't think Oracle is an AIDB. It is only RDBMS or rather you can call it Advanced RDBMS.
Now, you are thinking that since you have provided the relavant table here - so Oracle should automatically pic the single records. Since you have define every logic including the concept of primary key, foreign key in your table.
But, question is - did you apply the relationship in your join between the tables.
What does a primary key, foreign key do inside a table? Is it automatically select the unique rows from the join tables - when you didn't mention the join criterion.
If you think that - then you are wrong. My advice is - kindly go through the JOIN Concept.
Then start your coding. This is very dangerous way to start. Learn the basics at least.
So, what Senti suggested has a very much valid point.

  • ISQL*Plus script parsing problem with the + operator

    Hi,
You have most likely caught this one already.
    Select power(3,2) + power(3,2) from dual;
Works from the iSQL*plus window but not when loaded from a script; the + operator is getting removed.
    Regards,
    Rob

Thanks for the report. The fix for this is indeed already in our 9.0 code (which will be the next release of iSQL*Plus)

  • Thanks. A new problem when connecting isql*plus to database

    Thanks for everyone helping me.
I can browse the isql*plus page now. However, When I connect isql*plus to the database, I got the error displayed in the isqlplus login browser screen:
    ERROR:
    ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory
    Pls help.

Can you connect to it from command line SQL*Plus?
It sounds like the database is not running. You should start up the database and try again.

I have a small wireless home network (3 machines), and installed Oracle 10g on one machine. ISQL works fine on this machine. However, I would like to be able to run queries from the other machines using ISQL PLUS.
Have tried, //<<machinename>>:5560/isqlplus, but this returns a message that the requested page cannot be found.
I’ve pinged the database host machine from a second machine: ping <<machine name>>, and got a reply but when I pinged the port on the host machine: Ping <<machine name>>:5560, I got no reply. How do I solve communication with this port.
    Any assistance appreciated.
    JH

Ping <>:5560, I got no reply.Pinging port is not possible. Btw you can't use somthing what is using ICMP protocol (ping) for testing of TCP connection. So use the telnet command for testing of connection.
