ISQL - SQLPlus Worksheet

Is it possible to set up a select-statement and get the result in Table-Format and not in ASCII-Format?
With SQLPlus Worksheet:
Is it possible to stop the showing of results or do I always have to close the program to stop it?
Is it possible to get more then 80 characters per line?

You only have to use a browser with the link:

• Opening a UTF8 file in SqlPlus Worksheet

OS: Win2000 server
Oracle 9: Unicode installation, for multilingual data.
I need to open a script (it's in UTF8) file containing some Japanese characters. I changed the client configuration (NLS_LANG) and also my regional settings to be able to type Japanese characters; but when I open the file it's corrupted.
If I do a copy and paste from Notepad to the SqlPlus Worksheet or if I type the Japanese characters everything works.
Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong?

Your NLS_LANG should reflect the regional setting you have for your Windows 2000 client. SQL*PLUS is not going to be able to handle Unicode files on a Windows 2000 environment. You could use iSQL*PLUS for this purpose. It is a browser based version and can handle UTF-8.

Thanks

Hi,
>>which when i try to connect using the change database connection
Do you mean, about the "Service" ?
If you get connect using the scott/tiger account, then there is no problem in order to connect using other accounts. Now, if you need to connect in other database, then maybe you need to create a service "connection string" on your local TNSNAMES.ORA file.
Cheers

• Login onto SQLPlus worksheet

I am from the HP3000 world and am new to the oracle world. I want to enter and execute Oracle PL/SQL and SQL statements so as to become familiar with Oracle SQL. That is, build database tables, insert data, and retrieve the data directly and thru views, etc.
The download and install of Oracle9i Database Release 2 for Microsoft Windows 98/2000/nt/xp via the 92010nt_clt.zip file onto my pc seemed to complete successfully. I have Windows xp on my pc.
When I start SQLPlus Worksheet, a dialog box comes up with questions for which I do not know the answers.
The dialog box wants login option (1. login to the oracle management server, or 2. connect directly to a database), username, password, service, and connect&as (normal, sysdba, sysoper) responses.
During setup, as best as I can recall, there were no requests for, or displays of, this information.
Any suggestions on how to determine (or generate) the correct answers to the dialog box input requests ?
Any help provided would be greatly appreciated.

You can configure the client using the Net Easy Config tool which will create/modify the existing TNSNAMES file contents.

• SQLPlus Worksheet

Hello,
I'm a student and we are working with "SQLPlus Worksheet" at school.
Now I like to use the same tool at my home computer but I can't find it on the net.
I installed Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3/10.2.0.4) for Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 2008 completly successfull but I can't find the SQL Plus Worksheet app.
Can someone help me?

Thank you for the reply's.
Sorry but I can't find SQL*PLus Worksheet in my start menu (also checked the oracle/bin folder)
Here is a screenshot of SQL*Plus Worksheet that I found on the net.
I like to use SQL*Plus Workshoot on my pc too because in school we work with
Formatting output like break on skip, btitle, ttitle, column, compute, pagesize, linesize, heading, wrap
and I don't think the SQL Developer doesn't support that.

• Sqlplus Worksheet login failure

Hi,
I am running the Oracle 9i client on a win 2k machine using a network copy of the TNSNAMES file. This was done by adding a TNS_ADMIN environment variable pointing to the appropriate directory.
Everything is working fine eg: OEM, sqlplus etc EXCEPT SQLPlus Worksheet. It gives me an error stating it can't find the TNSNAMES file. The only way to get around this is to copy the network version of TNSNAMES directly to the computer defeating the purpose of the networked version.
Do you have any insight into this?
Thanks in advance for you time,

You can configure the client using the Net Easy Config tool which will create/modify the existing TNSNAMES file contents.

• Newer/better SQLPlus worksheet ??

Is there anyway I can get a newer better SQL Plus worksheet for Oracle 8i (8.1.7)? The one that's supplied is far inferior to the 8.0 SQL Worksheet. If not, can someone provide pointers to make the SQL Plus Worksheet easier to use (especially regarding to formatting!).
Thanks.
Gary

The newer version of worksheet now has been written using java and the interface has been changed from the previous versions.
If you are used to the earier worksheet version, you would find it frustrating to getting used to the changed environment.
The same thing happened to many of my other friends I know. I personally use SQL*Plus and almost never use worksheet, but I
have heard of the similar complaints from other users. But after some time they got used to the new interface and seem to find
the ways to do the same thing in the newer version that they were used to in the older version.

system/manager
sys/change_on_install
demo/demo
po8i/po8i
sysman/oem_temp

Have you started the listener and the instance? I assume you have installed 8.1.7 PE. If you have done the typical installation, it will create the scott user with tiger password. I have installed 8.1.7 last week on Windows/2000 (custom installation) and selected the database installation option at the end. It did created the scott user indeed.

• Oracle 10g_win32_db with patch PATCH 3837371 cant find OEM or Worksheet

I just installed Oracle10g with patch 3837371. I am unable to find OEM or SQLPlus Worksheet in my Start->Programs->Oracle.
I have been able to locate the HTTP version of Enterprise Manager via going straight to the internet, but there is still no link in the Oracle area for these two applications.
I would appreciate if you could share where they are found so I can use them.
Thank you.

Starting with 10g, OEM is browser based. However, you can install the java app version of OEM from the Client CD.

• Can't connect to SQLPlus

Hi all,
I've installed Oracle9i Database Release 2, everything went ok during the installation.
When I try to connect to the SQLPlus I get the error:
"ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name".
I've checked and set up the REGEDIT in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\TNS_ADMIN
and
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\Home1\TNS_ADMIN
Where TNS_ADMIN is the directory of my Oracle home (Ora9iDB)
My tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files I think are corretly configurated. Please see below, the database that I'm trying to connect to is TEST.OEMREP.LAN:

The weird thing is that I can connect without problems to
the SQLPlus worksheet and to a PL/SQL Developer that I've download from http://www.allroundautomations.nl/PL/SQL.
I tried to TNSPing the connection from DOS but I get the same problem.
Could you please help me out on this?
Thank you,
Lilian

Lillian,
I think you may need to read up a little more on logging into SQL*Plus/Oracle, and the various users and roles created by default.
Are you trying to connect as SYSDBA, or a standard user? I would suggest you use command line SQL*Plus instead of the Windows GUI.
Open a DOS/Command window and enter something like the following to connect as SYSDBA:
sqlplus username/password AS SYSDBA
or
sqlplus / AS SYSDBA
or
sqlplus / AS SYSDBA@mydb
There are many ways to connect.

• How to stop the sqlplus sheet command?

under windows platform, when we use sqlplus, if the process time is very long, we can use Ctrl+C to stop the command, right?
How about sqlplus worksheet? which keys can we use to cancel the current command?

If yes than ctrl-c doesn't work in it? Is not there in the File menu , there is any cancel button like we have in normal sql*plus ?

• SQLPLUS - Character Set preservation

Using Oracle 8i, sqlplus on a solaris platform and issuing the following command:
select title, authors
from skujournal where
journalnum = '249413';
returns
\ber Allegorie und Schriftsinn in Dantes Gvttlicher Komvdie
Bdrengrv_er, R|diger| ||
But, from SQLPlus on a Win2K platform the same query returns
\ber Allegorie und Schriftsinn in Dantes Gvttlicher Komvdie
Bdrengrv_er, R|diger| ||
Is there some settings that need to be made to have the character set fidelity translation occur at the client ? This is also happening from TOAD and SQLPlus Worksheet.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Open a DOS window and do the following :
- set the codepage 1252
C:\> chcp 1252
- change the DOS window font to "Lucida Console".
- set NLS_LANG environment variable, for example
C:\> set NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 (change language and territory with yours, if different)
- enter sqlplus and try
SQL> select chr(176) from dual;

• Sqlplus login/ tsnnames

Hi,
I've installed the 9.2.0.5 Patch on a Windows 2000 server. Sqlplus worked OK so far. After installing htmldb 1.5 from the companion CD I'm no longer able to connect to the database from the command promp. It always returns the error message ORA 12154.
When I connect to the database with the enterprise manager everything works well. Even the identical connect with sqlplus worksheet is successfull.

The first entry seems to be the one (created when installing patch 9.2.0.5) used by the EM and sqlplus worksheet.
The last entry is the old one. I've got a VB application, which does not work, when I delete this entry.
I don't know what kind of function the three other entries have. There is only one database (dvsora2) installed.
Any ideas why it doesn't work?
Cheers,
Synnoeve

I assume your second installation (HTMLDB) has changed your default ORACLE_HOME, so tnsnames.ora (located in D:\oracle\ora92\network\admin) cannot be found. Check it by copying sqlnet.ora,tnsnames.ora to <HTMLDB_HOME>\network\admin. You may also set TNS_ADMIN as environment variable to define a unique directory for tnsnames.ora .
